Ahem, the great state of Illinois has already weighed in and we want a piece of being first y'all (actually this is not a bad idea as IL is only considered blue because of the voting power of Chicago.  The rest of the state is purple or pretty much bright red.

This is true but MSNBC would benefit from Joe's knowledge of Florida for political analysis.

I am shocked that they didn't show clips of Joe's  State of Pensacola speeches when he was in Congress. Joe used to mention that he got applause from everyone .

This is true of most (all?) states.  We don't have so much of a blue state/red state divide, but an urban/rural divide.  The suburbs are the swing votes.

Joe thinks Mitt Romney showed courage by voting to convict the president of abuse of power.

They are still counting votes in Iowa.  Buttigieg and Sanders are now in a dead heat.  Warren is in third.  Steve Korniacki is there with his magic light up election map.  Sanders is getting more squares on the map.   Steve Korniacki said that some districts released the results late and that is why Sanders is surging.

I love Steve. I think he is the MVP of the network.  He actually prepares for the show. See Mika, it is possible.

Willie seems intrigued.  He thinks the results will be contested by whoever comes in second.

A Boston Globe poll shows Warren in fifth in New Hampshire, which is next. Joe says Warren and Biden will be staggering out of NH.

Totally agree.   Kornacki is killing it in terms of preparation, enthusiasm and knowledge.   But then again, he's not married to the boss, so he has to actually earn his position at the network.   Meeks can just sit there and frown and giggle and chirp and sigh and misread the teleprompter day after day, knowing her $7,000,000 position is locked in.

Anand showed up to debate Jonathan Chait over Bernie Sanders. He said that Chait has been wrong about Trump & the Iraq War.

Anand said that he is a reporter . He said that people that hate Democratic Socialism that are voting for Bernie.

He said there is too much income inequality in the USA.

Chait said that Jeremy Corbyn ideas are similar to sanders. Their supporters are passionate but aren't the majority of the country.

Anand comes across as very smug and sanctimonious. There are times I really like him, but more times that he annoys me.

Anand is one of the few guests that is willing to challenge the "Morning Joe consensus" that Joe has imposed on the show in the past few years.

Anand & Chait have been arguing all morning on twitter about their debate on Morning Joe today.

Spill the tea, please! I saw the debate and I could tell that Chait did not like Anand telling him that his prognostications have been wrong before. I find him to be the condescending smug one and not Anand, but mileage varies..

Bernie and Corbin are not similar at all. I don't want to get in trouble with the moderators so I will leave it at that.

Joe thinks that the president displayed hubris in yesterday's speeches about impeachment.  He called Trump's speeches a "freak show."  Joe contrasted Trump's speeches with Bill Clinton's post impeachment speech where Bill bit his lip and seemed sad.  He showed the video of Clinton.  Wow, Bill Clinton has aged a lot in 20 years.

Joe claims to understand the teachings of Jesus Christ.  I love when Joe acts like he has some moral authority. Joe is claiming to be Christian and kind toward enemies while making fun of the president.  Does he not realize he is doing the same thing as the president? Joe is a big hypocrite.

Good news, Donnie Deutsch is there to report the results of his latest Democratic presidential poll.  He thinks Buttigieg is surging going into New Hampshire.

Well I see we are all in either Baptist Preacher or School Librarian mode today.  Goodness what a waste of the first hour even for them.

And for heaven's sake Donny, if you're going to wear a formal suit put on a tie.  If you want to go sport coat/no tie no problem but you managed to edge out Joe (who appears to be wearing a blue work shirt under a plaid blazer in a totally different color scheme) for worst dressed today.

I love your recaps!

I wonder if Mika & Joe will host a show on religion when they leave MSNBC ?

He doesn't seem to be very Christ like in his behavior toward his critics on Twitter.

Love thy enemy?  More like, "just shut up you Cheetoh munching basement dwelling morons, I won't even look at my notifications".

Then how do you know they're all bad?

Thanks Oakville.

It is comical to me when Joe goes  into preacher mode.  He certainly knows a lot of bible verses.

My guess for the future after Morning Joe is that Joe will do a radio show so he can work from home even more.

Too bad Joe doesn't take on smug, woke-ass Anand in studio.  Joe's fury would be incendiary.  He would have to be restrained.  There'd be a melee.  Donnie would break a chair over Anand's smug head.

It looks like Donny Deutchbag is getting dragged all over Twitter for mansplaining to a woman who had the misfortune to be on today's show how Elizabeth Warren could never be elected because she's "unlikable" and "strident." Now, if Mika really had some actual editorial input on this show instead of making her Brigadoon-like appearances and then disappearing into the ether to guzzle more booze or eat more cake (or BOTH), she could have engaged in a debate about "knowing one's value."  Instead, it was Donny who commanded the attention and given full license to bloviate his one-sided perspective that every other entitled rich male asshole with a media platform continues to make. I guess the woman on the panel really knew HER value once the exchange ended -- which, as we know, is ZERO.

I'm glad I missed this show today. I'm glad I've BEEN missing it.

Donnie is getting dragged on Twitter for his misogynistic comments on Elizabeth Warren today. He said she is "strident" and "unlikable" while at the same time pretending he's "woke" to the idea of a woman president.

In other words, "I want a woman president. Just not THAT woman."

Hmmm...where have we heard that before?

ETA: Giant Misfit and I posted at the same time! But great point about Ms. "Know Your Value" sitting silently by.

I'm not in the Twitterverse, but I'd love to read those comments.  Do you have a link?

This is exactly what I came here looking for. I was only half listening when his bullshit caught my attention. Glad that it’s being named what it is - misogyny.

I never thought Donnie offered much in terms of analysis, but after watching this clip posted in reaction to his comments on Warren, I think he is gross.

OMG.  How this Neanderthal still has gainful employment as a political pundit is astonishing.  Not only does he offer nothing in terms of expertise, but he is actively disgusting.  Not PC to say, but his momma shoulda smacked him upside the head once or eight thousand times.

I think MJ has trashed Warren more than any other candidate...especially Joe, Donny and- it pains me - John Heileman. Claire Mckaskill, too. I don’t know why but it is an unflattering piling on. And Ms. KYV just sits there batting her eyes. Shameless. Then again, why would we expect anything else from these “media elite” smug know-it-all’s.

Sorry, but they just work my last nerve.

Me too!  I might leave it on at 6 am but when I sit down to eat breakfast I find something on the dvr to watch.  I only saw the Donny stuff on Twitter. Blergh. What a jackass.

All I saw this morning was Rev Joe talking about what a class act Bill Clinton was and I thought I woke up in a parallel universe.

TBH, I don't miss watching it, I'm just glad I have this forum so I can keep track of these half wits and chat with you guys.

I was telling a friend/coworker the other day about Mika's Cosmo column and her questions re boobs flying out of tops, neck rashes etc and I know she thought I was making it up. I said "no this woman is paid $8 million a year and cohosts a national cable news talk show".

Networks wonder why people don't trust the news. I trust Lester Holt, the network news shows, etc.  but so much of cable, even if it's supposed to be straight up reporting or a panel, the hosts are getting too much license to spew their opinions, and a lot of people don't realize it's just that, their uninformed or biased opinion and not the truth.

Does he have employment? Other than showing up on MJ or Nicolle's show? He sold the agency, I figured he's living off that $.

You know, no one on this thread is worse than I am when it comes to describing The Twins; no one is worse than I am when it comes to describing some of their regular guests.  They who shall not be named in this post.  They drive me to distraction.

One thing I have always enjoyed about our discussions is the fun we have when nicely trashing the on-air personnel and the stupid, sexist, elitist things they and some of the guests go on and on about.  And I love our opinions on their character, clothes, hair and makeup.

What I don't enjoy is our own personal opinions about the candidates...it kind of changes the dialogue.  Especially if we do not agree on the candidates.  But we are always respectful of one another's opinion; that is what makes this board what it is.

Mr. Kemper is going through chemo right now, so I am probably just overly sensitive.  I want to wake up tomorrow and hear that Joe is having an affair with Claire...that Meeka is drawn to John Podheroz (yes  spelling)...you know, the truly important things.  And that Clint Watts and Glen Kirshner are drawn to retired librarians in their 70's who are handy around the house.

She stumbled over the word recorded.

Good grief, you mean like pretty much the last hour of their show?  She should be very familiar with that term.

And thanks for all the thoughts about Donny's sniping at EW.  Oh yes strident is much better than shrill . . . dolt.
