Has any soap character ever slept with two siblings and a parent? If not, I think Keeks should be the first.

Brooke Logan. ENTIRE Forrester family. Father, two sons, and even almost the SON of her one twu wuv. (I don't watch, but I used to read the soap mags and my late grandmother loved the CBS soaps and would tell me what was happening, so I know.)

Kind of shocked Brooke has no plethora of STDs.

Hey all - fell behind again.  Anything I should make sure to catch up on?  Did Helena pop back up?  Anything more with Dr. O and Nathan's paternity?

Yes Helena was on this past week. She shot a dude. It was pretty bad ass. I still kinda hate her though.

Also I forget whether you like Morgan and Ava but he made her breakfast and then he told her he didn't want her to go. aw.

  • Love 4

I am totally about Kiki/Sonny. Like that is so awful that it would swing around to completely entertaining to me.

This would be so horribly awesome.  Then we could have a whodunit with Sonny's eventual murder, and Morgan, Michael, Ava, Julian, Franco, Silas, and Carly (for hurting precious Michael.  Morgan, who?) could be suspects.  And then everyone would be all... "Eh, what can you do?  Let's go get a BLT at Kelly's."

Sharon Newman on Y&R Nick, Adam and Victor. eeekkk!

And she also married all three, she had to complete that Newman family engagement ring collection.

She also slept with two of the female(Victoria) Newman's husbands. Sharin isn't known as the town bicycle for nothin'

Has any soap character ever slept with two siblings and a parent? If not, I think Keeks should be the first.

Brooke on B&B slept with Eric (dad), Ridge (Eric is not Ridge's bio-dad but that was found out years later), Thorne (Ridge's half bro) and Nick (Ridge's half bro). Taylor on B&B slept with Eric, Ridge, Thorne, Nick and Brooke's son Rick (his dad is Eric). I think B&B is probably the most incestuous soap out there.

I am totally about Kiki/Sonny.

There is something really awful and awesome about this idea. I'm not sure you should have put that out into the universe.

Not to mention Brooke slept with one daughter's husband (Deacon), which resulted in Hope, where she then wore the same costume to a Halloween party and proceeded to get mixed up for Hope and she had sex with (Oliver)

NATHAN IS HOT.....That is all

They have got to fix Jane Elliot's hair and wardrobe. I can't take the Mao Tse-tung/Susan Flannery look anymore. I can't. I don't care if it's hers. Bring back the bob and something other than a Nehru collar.

I hope they're serious about Tony Geary turning up this month, because if not this is a real waste of time. I did laugh at the lame scenes with Coby/Kobe/whoever. Talk about a gay porn intro - Asian musclestud shows up at metro-ass Julian Jerome's door. "I'm Kobe! But you can call me your worst nightmare!" And then Julian immediately overpowers him and throws him out. What a day! What was the point of that?

I did actually really, really like the Julian/Alexis scenes a couple days ago, where obnoxious Julian sniffed at "Ivy League" Ned (forgetting that he, too, is Ivy League) and sneered about being the ultimate man. Julian is exactly the kind of dude who says shit like "nothing compares to me," and it's the kind of stuff William deVry is actually very good at. And Alexis was into it, and the scenes worked, because it was a honest depiction of his character and their relationship. Everything he was saying to her, trying to seduce her, was incredibly asshole-ish, but it was also the honest truth of their relationship - Julian is a boor, but he also loves (or at least deeply desires and wants to possess) Alexis, and his boorish attitude and dangerous criminality fires her passion for him. She likes the asshole. I liked that material a lot. If they were able to keep consistent notes with these characters, you could bring three dimensions out more often - not just with them but with so many characters. And if Julian is tempted away from Alexis for the time being by cohort Jordan, so much the better.

I prefer Jordan a lot more with the straight hair, honestly - her curly mane was way OTT and out of control IMO, and it was clear the show had no idea how to style it. I also really liked her this week because, like Julian, she dances on the edge. Jordan the strait-laced DEA agent really does not interest me; Jordan the semi-corrupt DEA agent with champagne tastes and caviar dreams does. She has great chemistry with both Jeromes and she is obviously into that life - we know all the old stories, be they Miami Vice apocrypha or not, about undercover drug cops who have to live in that world and keep all the toys, do the product, etc. That, to me, is a more accurate picture of who Jordan is. She likes the high life too much, the same way Shawn likes working for Sonny too much. She's more into this world than into being a stable mother for her son. I wish they'd go deeper into that. But most likely they'll pull her out and go the safe route, and she'll eventually be shunted off the show.

I liked the Ava/Morgan scenes, so long as they don't go full speed ahead on reuniting them in some saccharine love story. That was awful last winter and it's not what they're good at together; this dark, complicated shit is, because she is a killer and while she loves Morgan and Kiki, she'll put her survival above both of them. I personally suspect she may not last til November, let alone December. I think this is Ava's last ride.

Thanks, ulkis, I would have hated to miss Helena gunning down one of her goons while impeccably styled!

But ugh, for serious, Robin has been kidnapped by a GH supervillain AGAIN?!?!

I'm also really, really dreading the Jason return given the heavy emphasis they're putting on his superhero mobster skills or whatever.  Boring.

Were there any scenes last week of Nikolas learning about his father and grandmother being defrosted?

Edited by TeeVee329

Not at all. He'a a handsome and fit guy. He's got such a baby face though, it makes me feel uncomfortable to see him shirtless.

I don't think he's got SUCH a baby face.  The guy looks 20s to me, not even remotely in his teens.  So his love scenes are fine with me, and I actually really loved him in scenes with Vanessa Marcel and him throwing his insane mother out of the hotel room, and him just sitting and talking to Brenda.  Wouldn't that be great revenge on both of his parents for their betrayal of him?  Michael looks his age - 23.  Chad is 27 or 28, but he looks young 20s.  That's about it.  Bryan Craig looks like the younger brother to me, and throw in his "dude-isms" and he REALLY strikes me as the younger brother.  BC just has a nice tan, but he behaves like a younger brother to me.

I think Michael and Abby were great together, and he had chemistry with Maxie and even with Brenda.  The person who has sucked the like out of Michael has been Kiki, and she's now sucking the life out of Morgan too.

No one knows that Helena's been defrosted except Robin and Jason. He barely got to react to the Stavros stuff, just "wow sorry about that", and then the conversation moved on to the next topic.

This may be just me, but I kinda feel like Ron and the writers are mocking the Jason super skills stuff with all the ridiculous over emphasis on it.

I think the main reason I'm not super into CD shirtless or in sex scenes is because he usually looks like he's not super comfortable with it. So he looks like a 15 year old, pale, not super fit guy being forced to appear shirtless on tv, which isn't very sexy. I think he works better (and in fact really well) in family scenes rather than romantic scenes. He had great chem with SK and he has better chem with LW, BC, even the girl who plays Joss than he does with KA. But I actually do see some chem with the actress that plays Rosalie, so maybe it's just KA that he has anti-chem with. They just don't work together on any level, IMO. Make it stop!

I agree.  I think Chad is bored out of his mind with Kiki and Michael, and it shows.  He KNOWS that the pairing isn't working, and he's not hiding it.  He has chemistry with Rosalie, and he had great chemistry with Abby.  So again, I think the problem is Kiki.  There's only so many times you can play the SAME scenes with the same characters and not have them look boring.  Michael and Abby were a popular pairing at the time, and a bit taboo because he was so much younger than her, but it worked.  The actors were great together.  Then RC killed off Abby because he knew KA was coming over, and he wanted her paired with Michael.  Then after the PP deal fell through, and he couldn't use the OLTL characters, he introduced Kiki and he RUSHED Michael back into Kiki's orbit.  RC acts as if Michael and Starr were so great together.  They were okay, that's about it.

The sooner you get Michael away from Kiki, the faster you will see his character improve.

Oh that's right, everyone thinks Helena never got defrosted and was burned up/buried in the explosion, correct?

Who did Nik have scenes with when he reacted about Stavros?  Lulu?

Yeah, Lulu and Dante. It was brief. They told him off-screen what happened, he was like, "ugh that's fucked up man" and then said, "not that I want to take you from one crisis to another but . . . " (referring to Fluke), but then Lulu asked if he didn't mind putting it off, because she just wanted a break that night, and that's where they left it off. But now they've started talking about Fluke anyway because Tracy came over on Friday.

re: Helena, yeah, that's the case. I don't even think people realize Helena was an option to be de-frosted.

jsbt -- you are hilarious - this is so spot-on. I have been watching Jane forever;  since before GH and she has never looked this severe. I can't look at her anymore. That plastered down hair and those mandarin (aka Nehru) collars do NOTHING for her. She still has a relatively young-ish face and if they softened her hair (and added some height) and gave her a normal collar, she could still be a knock-out.

i am shallow so forgive me......but KA has the worst smile I have ever seen; the other day she gave a full watt small to Michael and all you could see where her upper gums. Between her boyshorts and her squat body, I can't stand the sight of her.  And she is useless too, imagine two brothers fighting over this thing IRL?  Just no....

Ron must be making fun of us on the boards, Olivia actually tripped and fell onto his penis. Side notes: Cool gym; Lisa looks damn good in a sports bra.

The Rosalie touchy stuff was awkward. The mob stuff was okay, until the mob hitter speech with Rosalie and #3 dragged on. However, Michael really manned up to protect Rosalie, maybe she will fall for him for real.  Julian got genre savvy!!! Great! Double great!

I did not dislike Sam and Patrick today. Tracy and her imposed dumbness was painful, and the twist where Lulu and Donte got her onboard was nice.

Nina started making sense, maybe there is something wrong with me. Nina is leading Franco towards the smart thing to do??

Seriously? NOW Kiki says Michael must know the truth? I guess only Kiki gets to decide when to keep something from Michael. I hate her so much. :weeps:

Seriously Carly, I know she has the guilts and all, but that is one hideous necklace to acquiesce to wearing.

oh God that shit with the assassin was so bad. "I don't want any of your stuff! grrr!"

Blame Deidre Hall, she cuts Jane's hair.

But only at Jane's behest. She's said Deidre is always telling her to grow it.

Dude, finally! We have plot movement. I want Franco to email that video of Sonny flat out smugly admitting to killing AJ to Scotty. Put that video in front of a jury combined with the recording of AJ begging for his life and Monica testifying that for once Sonny will have to pay for something and we have good soap. I also want Micheal testifying what AJ told him about the meat hook.

Stupid Shawn. He had to interrupt at that time. And from the previews he still didn't do shit. If he gets Jordan and Micheal killed, then ugh.

I'm glad Ava told Lauren. Even she knows that girl can't keep her mouth shut. Countdown to the reveal now.

Deidre colors it, but she doesn't cut it.

I can't believe this was the subject of not one, not two, but three Soap Talk interviews.

And it doesn't keep me from shaking my head at myself that I know this factoid.

Chad Duell is another actor who has basically been turned into a male ingenue or plot device since RC took over;  it's something he does to a lot of males especially.

It's happened to DZ, too - they went from playing layered, complicated characters to being used as largely hapless hunks in action or romance stories, swooning over the women and occasionally fighting for them, usually physically, but overall helpless to prevent the larger machinations of more influential characters. I do think Chad looks uncomfortable not just with having to get naked so often (not that I care, sorry Chad) but with the material he has to play. I'm not sure he connects the problem to KA, who he's in love with, but he does seem bored to tears and baffled by most of the writing on RC's show, kind of a fish out of water, and has since the start IMO. Nonetheless, both he and DZ play everything they get to the best of their ability, they don't phone it in even though it often seems like the writers totally are with them.

The one thing Ron got really right was moving Michael distinctly away from the mob sphere - since Ron took over, Michael has been positioned much more definitely first with the younger crowd, then with the Quartermaines and ELQ. They made his relationship with A.J. real and worthwhile and heartfelt, and I will always appreciate that. Michael is written as the 'good boy,' the fair-haired child who is rediscovering his original birthright and is less and less tied to Sonny despite his love for his adoptive father. And I think they thought it was the right thing to do, and it was. But at the same time, to RC, I think being a 'good' character inevitably makes a character be perceived as far less interesting overall, which is why Michael (like Dante) is regularly reduced to a clueless dupe or reactive partner for Kristen Alderson, MB, etc. He went from playing a troubled young woman to basically Prince Charming a lot of the time.

I appreciate how they've changed Michael, because he is so different from the angry mob wannabe kid shit that CD just could not play. But while the overall outline of the character change here is good, he often struggles to play the sort of bland sometimes cipher material they give him now. It was a bit better in the past, but all he is now is the naked chump. Dante has it only slightly better off. And both characters (among others) used to have much more going on inside.

(As for Abby, I thought Garin Wolf killed her. I never liked her - that was so random.)

Kiki only keeps things from Michael if she has to protect THE SERIAL KILLER. Otherwise, her attitude toward telling the truth is more … meh … might as well.

ETA:

I have nothing against the guy; I think he cleans up pretty good; and he's not built too badly. But his mouth is almost always hanging open, and it makes him look baffled, not only at the writing, but at almost everything.

I did kinda laugh that Micheal has this gun in his face and is all "Really, bro, I know you're gonna kill me, but like, who's your boss, yo? "

I think The Chad is great with great scene partners. KA just chomps on scenery and sucks more than a Hoover. Seriously, if he loves her, he needs to tell her acting is not her bag. He comes alive in scenes with anyone not her. Hell, he and The Radio had more chemistry.

Blame Deidre Hall, she cuts Jane's hair.

So, DH's hair styling skills are on par with Marlena's doctor skills then. Noted. (Seriously Jane, get your hair done by someone who is actually a real fucking stylist, don't be cheap!)

oh God that shit with the assassin was so bad. "I don't want any of your stuff! grrr!"

Maybe it's my allergy medicine, but I loved it! I laughed so hard! I want him to go around Port Charles doing that!

I also had a huge laugh at the reactions of Morgan and Kiki to Ava's reveal: Kiki was all "Zut Alors!" and clutching the pearls, and Morgan?  He didn't even blink. UCG! I'm still giggling.

ETA: Will Shawn be on nina's list now that he was so rude to her?

I am excited for the first time in a long time over the Shawn fucking up again, and Michael wrestling for the gun. I went to the spoiler thread to see if Rosalie catches a bullet.

Well played, Ron. First time in forever I have cared about who gets shot when people wrestle for a gun and the bang and TV faces. I think I care because Rosalie finally got interesting and she is so minor she may get rubbed out.

Honestly, I don't think either Michael or Dante were ever that complicated, and in Dante's case I mean that as a compliment. I like that he was a simple guy at the end of the day, and I'm surprised they managed to keep that so long into the Guza/Garin eras (although Guza tried to undermine that with the Brenda/Balkan stuff). Even now, I think they've managed to keep that element - it's not that he's just a good guy, but he's just not into anyone's drama, which kinda makes him a terrible soap character but I like having at least one person like that around. Like when the partial truth about Rocco came out and Britt, Liz, and Nikolas were all talking over each other and Dante was just like "I have no idea what is going on. Will someone just shut up and spit it out?" Although I get your overall point, it's like you say here:

And both characters (among others) used to have much more going on inside.

Although, I'm biased obviously but I don't think DZ and Chad's acting can be compared. DZ is always reacting and doing what he can with the material. CD is okay, but most of the time he makes confused face or sad face. (although, to be fair to CD, DZ is older and has much more experience, so it's kinda not fair to compare their acting).

I also had a huge laugh at the reactions of Morgan and Kiki to Ava's reveal: Kiki was all "Zut Alors!" and clutching the pearls, and Morgan?  He didn't even blink. UCG! I'm still giggling.
Yeah, that was hilarious.

(As for Abby, I thought Garin Wolf killed her. I never liked her - that was so random.)

He did.

oh, and speaking of characters that have been gentled down, Franco was wearing such a lovely sky blue soccer dad pullover today. I hope its softness was able to make him feel better about Carly's betrayal.

  • Love 2

Oh, I think Dante was always a stand-up guy and pretty much who he is - but he had a lot more soul, a lot more character, as I said, a lot more going on inside. He wasn't just a reactive hunk. They gave him good material about his life, his past, his motivations, etc. and DZ made a meal of it. Same with Chad, who, while I don't think he's as great as DZ, I do think he's talented. And while I am glad Michael has moved away from being such a dark, tortured character, I think he too used to have a lot more soul and better material. They've taken him a bit too far in the other direction when he spends a lot of the time playing a Disney Prince for Kristen Alderson.

  • Love 4

I agree. I think Chad had oodles of potential, and I've seen it. Specifically in the scenes with Jason where he revealed he was raped, the scenes where he was learning the truth about AJ/Carly/Sonny, and AJ's nightmare that Micheal called him a loser. The guy also played a great reaction when Rosalie walked in wearing the pink dress the other day. I rather like him. I think he will do well with better screen partners. He's great with anyone but KA. I have faith in him for the AJ reveal. He makes Micheal, a character written now as a tad one note, more interesting. You can see it in small things. Like the exasperation during the Levi/Maxie sit in. All of this responsibility at a young age will lead to an excellent performance when he loses it at the reveal.

DZ is an excellent actor stuck as supporting, when he's clearly a lead. I'd rather him as lead than JT or MB.
