Well THAT'S been a well kept secret from the public by Dr. Phlub and MySonJay.

However, nobody can be responsible for other people's actions or words. Some men (and a few women possibly) are sleazy creeps who will use whatever "powers" they have to get sex from pretty women (or men). It's wrong and especially wrong when date rape drugs are used (how you doin' Bill Cosby?)

I couldn't find a thread for this show, but Phil & 'my son Jay' produced this - which it's now cancelled - Face the Truth.

Horribly executed, just awful show.  Typically two guests who have an issue, give their stories, get Q&A from panel - a judge I think (Scary Mary - just a loudmouth), a psychologist or psychiatrist and a life coach.  Vivica A. Fox is the host and contributes her two cents, also.  Watching a rerun as I'm just a lump on my recliner right now (summer cold or allergies kicking my butt).  Their conclusions could be arrived at by anyone, then they offer 'resources' ala Phil.

So they've got a lawsuit re: their other show, Bull, now this new show cancelled.  Is it Phil or 'my son Jay' who are making bad decisions?  I did see DailyMail TV was renewed, so gossip does sell.  There's a glut of judge/self help shows.  What's next, a fashion/beauty show with Robin? Maybe even Phil knows she couldn't carry an entire show; most people can't sit thru her 5 to 10 minutes promoting her products on his regular show.

LOL.  I watched a couple of showings when it was new.  Absolutely cringe worthy.  All those silly women spouting pop catch phrases and offering advice that sounds like the magazines at the checkout counter.

The audience "voting" , Mary screaming and Vivaca blubbering ... what a mess.

Face The Truth is truly one of the worst TV shows ever! I'm so glad it's getting flushed down the $hitter! Unless OWN is going to show reruns.

The McGraw estate is up for sale; this LA Times article has a lot of photos of the interior design, which is quite interesting.  Make sure to check out the assorted automatic weapons mounted in the dining room and the sweeping staircase rail that looks like gnarly branches.

That looks like the interior I remember from the house that was shown that his youngest son with the band lived in. I remember comments about the dark interior. Don't think the gun wall was there at the time.

Here's an article showing what it looked like inside in 2015. The interior was explained by saying it was inspired by Tim Burton...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3255468/Inside-Jordan-McGraw-s-Hollywood-home-Rocker-opens-doors-jaw-dropping-Tim-Burton-inspired-mansion-amps-music-career.html

Here's an article Variety just put out with additional pictures along with wondering who would purchase a house already decorated like that. I like some aspects of it though the gun wall isn't one of them.

Well, maybe MySonJason(?) is going through some changes and wants to find a place to live that he paid for with his own money? 😄

I think the one who lived there was Jordan (the "rock star").  I'd believe he wants to find a place he paid for with his own money as much as I believe that Harry and Meghan really want to withdraw from royal life.

Yes! Thanks for correcting me. Jordan is the son who "surprised" Robin (several years ago,) by coming on the show Valentine's (?) Day and singing with his band. How da phuck is that a surprise? Lol.

That might have been the stupidest show ever with Plastica. She tried to act surprised and like it never occurred to her in a MILLION years that her spawn would be on her husband’s show. She practically crawled up that walkway with her eyes wide and her hand over her mouth until Shill actually whacked the chair next to him with his hand and waved her on up to SIT DOWN. I’d give anything if someone could find a tape of that show but I imagine they destroyed it. Too bad.

WTF was that? There is so much weirdness I can't even begin. The only part I liked about the house was the back yard.

Dr Phil is a classic infantile narcissist. If the guests on stage don’t cow tow to his every word, he throws a hissy fit. Today he asked a guest if she wanted him to read further in his thoughts on her and she said “if you’d like to”. Perfectly lovely and appropriate reply. He got miffed, slammed his folder shut and cut to a commercial. So unprofessional. So often he demeans the family who are there for help. That should never happen. He should be as respectful of them as he demands they be to him. And the new nonsense at the beginning with the behind-the-scenes fakery?  Omg who wants to watch him get his bald head powdered or see the blond boss lady behind the controls act like she’s bringing home Apollo from a space mission single handedly? Bunch of children running that show. Nothing like it once was.

It's a way for rich people to buy and own property for their kids to live in, and it avoids probate too.   It also means that spoiled rich kids can play at having a career, without having to actually do anything.  Plus, since the home isn't actually owned by the son, it avoids gift tax.      And it did look like a 70's porn star home.    Whoever told the decorator what to include has terrible taste.

What exactly does "an estate owned by the Dr. Phil trust" mean? Is that the home "HisSonJordan" lived in? It looks like a 1970's porn star home.

It means his kids don't have to worry about making a real living for themselves.  Otherwise he might be living in the hood.

Ouch.

So anyone know if this is totally out of context, or has Dr Phil gone the full Lord Farquaad?

Also, I have no idea but apparently his stated number of pool deaths is way wrong. He is said to be overestimating those by a factor of around 100.

Why is he saying one thing on his show and another on Fox? (If he is).

If this is really his opinion, I agree that poverty is terrible (although his figure of 250 deaths per year from poverty sounds way too low?). But the USA is the richest nation on Earth, so I’m hoping that he also suggested on Fox News that in fact, in such a nation surrounded by such wealth, nobody ever needs to die from poverty. A virus is vastly more difficult for a society to cure than making sure people have enough food and shelter for survival.

The thing that gets me is that he is always on about how terrible it is to lose someone to a sudden violent death, or to leave emotions unresolved, and this disease is going to do that to so many people. Unfortunately, you can’t usually be with the person as they die in hospital, and very sadly this is not a slow, gentle death. There are going to be millions left behind massively traumatized by this disease - staying indoors or even losing a job, even being very financially insecure for a few weeks or months (I’ve been there, it’s terrifying) is going to be a very minor trauma to most in society compared to losing a parent or child in a hideously brutal way.

I just don’t get this.

Again, Dr. Phil shows he's an expert on nothing.     So he's fine with making money off of Covid, but then tells Fox News that it's overblown, and not very dangerous?    If he thinks it's no big deal, then he should publicly say he won't be treated if he gets it.

Wait until Dr $hill finds out that pool drownings and car crashes aren't contagious and don't endanger health workers' lives and their families'.

He has apparently done a public apology, which was probably not heard by even a quarter of the audience he spoke those lies to.

As far as I'm concerned, he's dead to me.  This show was my go-to for background noise on OWN for probably the last six or seven years when I work from home.  Not only is this show no longer on my watch list, but sadly, neither is this thread, as much as I enjoy it.  I would much rather just not acknowledge this liar's existence.

It's been real and it's been fun, but it hasn't been real fun.  See you on the flip side.

This is what he said:

(From Washington Post)

"Dr. Phil had much to say about the coronavirus lockdown the other night on Fox News.

“Look, the fact of the matter is we have people dying — 45,000 people a year die from automobile accidents, 480,000 from cigarettes,” the talk-show host said Thursday, “but we don’t shut the country down for that. But yet we’re doing it for this?”

Social media quickly erupted with fury and derision as viewers pointed out the hopeless apples-to-orangeness of his argument: Cars and tobacco aren’t exactly communicable diseases; and both, in fact, have inspired extensive government regulations to limit injuries and death. (The TV shrink was also widely mocked for making a comparison to swimming-pool deaths using a bogus statistic inflated by a factor of nearly 100.)

But the interview raised deeper concerns: Why was Dr. Phil — not a medical doctor but a clinical psychologist with no special knowledge about the politics, science or economics of the shutdown — on a TV news channel talking about the topic in the first place?"

***

All three have since walked back their statements. Pinsky apologized for last month dismissing coronavirus as no more serious than influenza; Oz said Thursday he “misspoke” this week when he casually urged reopening schools at a “cost [of] 2 to 3 percent in terms of total mortality.” And on Friday, McGraw acknowledged that he had used an inflated number of drowning deaths and that his comparisons to smoking and driving weren’t quite on point, either. “Yes, I know that those are not contagious. So, probably bad examples.”

***

A CNN representatives did not respond to questions about the segment. Fox News spokeswoman Carly Shanahan said Phil McGraw and Mehmet Oz have been guests on Fox News and are not paid contributors. She declined to further comment. (Sources at Fox said, however, that McGraw was booked to discuss mental-health issues and that his controversial comments were unexpected).

(End of what I'm quoting)

I have not watched one episode of his home broadcasts.   And I wish he would just stop doing them.

Robin's issue is rich old lady anorexia.     The old saying about you can't be too thin, or too rich was wrong.     Her shrinking body, and massive amounts of fillers, and surgery are turning her into a caricature of herself.

My son meet Dr. Phil at a tech show in LV not too long ago. Dr. Phil was busy taking calls from people with problems over the phone. My son waved to him and Dr. Phil came down. :-o

My son knew in the early days my daughter and me watched his shows. I bought both kids his "life Strategies" book. They still make sense.

Dr. Phil grabs my son's hands and says"Tell your mother I truly appreciate her support (meanwhile his aides where trying to get him back on the phones) and that I wish her well." He even took time out for a selfie with my son.

My son said having met him, he felt he was a very sincere person. Awww! I do not watch his shows anymore since I cannot realate to most of his guests.

By the way, Robyn wasn't there. ;-)

Yeah okay, Robyn, that sounds like a totally believable story (sarcasm) 😒

I didn't realize that the BuzzFeed article was posted in the shows thread on Thursday before I posted.

This Hollywood Reporter article explains why the accusations in the BuzzFeed article are unlikely to derail the show.

This BuzzFeed article quotes anonymous employees on Dr. Phil's toxic workplace, and provides counterarguments by named staff.  The main villain is Carla Pennington.  The sources say that they came forward now in hopes of impacting his contract when it is up for renewal in 2023.

Phillip was interviewed for the Netflix series, “Untold,” regarding the Manti Te’o scandal. If you remember, Phillip interviewed the person who catfished Manti. He boasted about how all his expert friends told him that the catfish couldn’t possibly be the person who left voicemails on Manti’s phone. Of course Phillip was wrong. When he was introduced in the documentary, the viewer can only see a man shuffling in very gingerly. I thought it was an elderly coach or something. It’s not until he plops down on the sofa that we see Phillip’s face. I haven’t watched the current season of his show in a while. I had no idea he had so much difficulty walking.

Phil has been wearing athletic shoes for at least a couple of seasons. As opposed to his nice dress shoes he would always wear. I know most people don't like him. I do and I hope he's not on a rapid decline healthwise.

He has knee problems, as do I.  I’m 62-years-old, but I walk like I’m much older because my knees are in such poor condition.  He probably needs knee replacement surgery.

Why does Robin continue to dress like a 16 yo girl from 1955? Not a good look from grandma.

She's all over the place with her "fashion" choices. 1950's teenager, 1970's hippie, grandma dresses and upon rare occasion, a decent appropriate dress. But she's still too anorexic to look good in anything.

Looks like Phil’s latest attempted money spinner is rebranding as a right-wing Christian influencer (super common nowadays).

https://www.christianpost.com/news/dr-phil-says-god-wants-him-to-speak-out-against-woke-mob.html

‘Phil McGraw recently spoke at Pastor Ed Young’s Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas, where he weighed in on the importance of the church’s role in society and revealed he believes God wants him to speak out against the “woke mob” attempting to re-write the truth.

“The church brings something to the family unit that causes cohesion, that causes values to be thought of and talked about and prayerfully considered,” McGraw, a clinical psychologist and television personality, said.

“If you are married and you do have two parents in [the] family and you are going to church, that's your best shot of those children going into a lifestyle that will be drug-free, alcohol-free, abuse-free, divorce-free, that's your best shot,” he continued.  “Family in America is under attack. We need to fight back with the tools we have, and one of the tools that we have is our active relationship with God.”

Anyway, that’s kind of a 180 for the ‘least judgemental guy’ in America, as he always used to say on the show.

Glad to hear that being Christian saves you from divorce, drug use and abuse… that’s going to be news to some of his former guests on the show.

‘The former “Dr. Phil” host appeared at Fellowship Church to promote his new book, We’ve Got Issues: How You Can Stand Strong for America’s Soul and Sanity and media network, Merit Street Media.’

“It was important to me, as a father, to model to those children that they see their father in a prayerful relationship with the Heavenly Father, because I won't be here forever,” he said. “I know in my heart that when I'm gone, they won't be alone because they will have a well-practiced relationship with their Heavenly Father.

I have the peace of mind knowing they will never be alone. They will never be without a father because when their worldly father is gone, their Heavenly Father will be there, and I will have shown them how to do that. And those are the kinds of things we need to fight back [against], this relativism that's being peddled, all this history is being rewritten, science is being rewritten, biology is being rewritten.”

‘In his conversation with Young, McGraw also tackled issues like government control, income inequality and marriage, calling for a focus on healing "damaged personal truths" that deviate from God's vision.’

I suppose this was always inevitable.

But hey, as long as he saves ‘America’s Soul’. Good luck, ‘deviants’, in Phil’s brave new world.
