mojoween August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 (edited) In other breaking news like water is wet and the sky is blue, I still hate Liz's voice. "Clay's adorabullllllllll" "I knoooooowwwwwww." I had no idea there were words that had seventeen syllables in them. I also had no idea until tonight that I can't stand listening to Becky speak. The way she emphasizes nearly every word makes it seem like she thinks everything that comes out of her mouth is the most important thing you've ever heard. I also feel like she acts like she's full of herself. Steve. I don't find you objectionable, but you're going to let Becky know she's your next target? Who was your first target? I'm glad they showed the fight that I heard about, but I still don't really understand what happened. James saying "hell hath no furry like a woman scorned" sounded like "furry" was dubbed. I mean, he may very well have said it like that, but it sounded off. Meg is two-faced when she's sober. Good to know. Edited August 10, 2015 by mojoween 11 Link to comment
NYGirl August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 Oh God Liz's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. She said more than usual tonight. Vanessa is a little stressed out I see. I'm glad Becky is going for the big kahuna. 2 Link to comment
Chrissytd August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 Yes they showed the blowup. I think it would've been better for Vanessa to not even mention it until after the eviction/HoH. Even though Clay would be evicted by then, it placed an even bigger target on her back. Cheers to Becky for being the first woman to win that HoH comp. For a big guy, Austin sucked at that competition. "Hell hath no furry." I wonder if James is Real Housewives fan. Meg and The Twins being totally disinterested Clelli's separation is how I feel. Vanessa's facial expressions kill me. How dare someone not give me their word. Also, her claiming that John and Clay are either gay lovers or related is still utterly ridiculous. That's the best she could come with? Someone in editing room sure loves Steve. 6 Link to comment
Callaphera August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I felt like Meg was speaking for the whole viewing audience when she commented on Shelli's constant cry-fests. "So annoying." Yes, they are. Especially with Shelli claiming that she never cries over boys. Please. She could have ended the drought in California by herself last week. 13 Link to comment

Wandering Snark August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 (edited) Confirmation they killed BoTB earlier than planned... my info says "The new heads of household move into their rooms and nominate two people for possible eviction; the battle of the block competition" Hah. Interesting that of all people Vanessa would play the "either you're gay lovers or..." card. Huh? Man as a pro poker player who has to ride an even keel not freaking out about bad hands/bad beats she is terrible in this game once she gets upset. I'd think she'd have a much better check on her emotions than she does. So Becky makes her group promise not to utter the "V" word and she trots right over and tells Shelli about the plan to get rid of Vanessa? And JohnnyMac too... so she basically tells everyone except Vanessa that Vanessa is the target. I get that as little as I get chomping on brussel sprouts raw. North of Eden August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 (edited) This episode was a complete homage to the LOST episode THE OTHER 48 DAYS as we actually got to see what the other side of the house was up to by bringing Steve, Becky and Johnny Mac (in non comedic DR appearances) into play and on camera. We even saw some strategy on the part of some of these players. It's about time! The one thing I would like to see more light shed on is Steve's pathological hatred of Becky. Some good LOL moments tonight such as the insensitivety of the twins going on about Clay's exes streaming down out of the hills why Shelli is stuck in the house...right in front of her. And LOL @ Julia...because at one point during the nomination ceremony the angle of Austin's hand appeared as if he was holding Liz's hand under the table....while Julia is a big old third wheel sitting on the OTHER side of the table. Glad James and Jackie appear safe but I still don't trust Becky..she seems shifty to me based on what we have seen in past episodes...and her TELLING Shelli and Johnny Mac after extracting a vow of secrecy? How long before Shelli spills the beans to Vanessa. When all is said and done though...Steve is DOOMED...this will be a classic case of the Pawn Going Home. The Sixth Sense people will never vote out one of their own while an easy boot like Steve is on the block. Becky needed to put up another Six Senser next to Shelli to have ANY hope of this working. woodscommaelle August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 (edited) It sounds like it's a literal struggle for the twins to make words come out of their mouths. 'I've worked Black Friday. I know how to deal with Vanessa.' Um, that was awesome. So Just bc Becky doesn't want to make a deal with YOU, Vanessa, you think she's playing a bad game? I think she just doesn't want to play this game with you! Edited August 10, 2015 by woodscommaelle 9 Link to comment

The VO and the multiple close ups of his b&w photo... it's all so tragic. RIP Clay. More like good riddance. Damn, the entitled little prick was voted out and we still had to deal with for the first quarter of this is episode. Becky is taking a bit from James' play book: just be deadly efficient. I loved the way she shut Vanessa down...and Vanessa's reaction. "You're not interested in deals?" followed by the beat of silence that screamed "WTF? Bitch, you crazy". Also good on Becky for locking down her alliance from the word jump about telling anyone. But big point deduction for immediately spilling it to other people. John I get because her ally yet not in with the ADC. But why would she tell Shelli. I get her stated reason is Shelli will owe her one later, but Shelli can out her at any time and destroy the shaky trust she's built with the ADC. 4 Link to comment

Katesus7 August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 So I'm on vacation, and forgot about this until the halfway mark, but I did have to comment on one part of the half that I did see. Vanessa doing what Vanessa does and trying to make a deal with Becky, only to have Becky shoot her down with "I am done with deals and alliances. Done!"? I almost stood up and cheered I loved it so much. And not because I love Becky all that much or dislike Vanessa all that much. I've just been waiting for something like that to happen in a pre-nom HOH meeting for, well, forever! Yes people, it is possible for an HOH to say that they're not interested in what you are selling. I did find Vanessa's reaction in the DR regarding Becky to be interesting on a few levels. First, she's pissed because she is not in control. Second, she's flummoxed because Big Brother strategy is VERY different from poker strategy. And third, she's clueless because she can't seem to adjust her own game even after realizing the first two things. 8 Link to comment

Cutty August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 Editors did a good job with the pre-eviction fight. James might be little but I still think he would whip Clay's ass. I had to laugh when Shelli admonished Clay for lying. The way she said "Clay!" was just like a mother yelling at her teenage son. Think we see why Steve has had so few DRs. Talk about delusions of grandeur. You're not fooling anyone, kid. We all know you're useless. Really think the Sunday episodes could use a HN comp. Felt like this one dragged a bit with nonstop game talk (mixed with DR crocodile tears from Shelli - gag). But that could be because I watch the feeds and saw all the game shit already. 2 Link to comment

Never count out the smaller guy in a fight. Absent any kneeing or kicking, all the taller guy can do is beat on the shorter guy's head and shoulders. Contrariwise, the shorter guy has direct access to a much wider variety of effective targets. 2 Link to comment
Wandering Snark August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 (edited) Agreed, my money would be on James in that scrap. I'd guess he'd 'subdue' him before any damage took place. And it would end with a "are you done"? From James and Clay allowed to stand up, humiliated would then say "You're not worth it..." Given his being a prison guard, at his size, he had to know how to deal with true badasses that outsized him by quite the bit. And above that there is the military training. All Clay could do was maybe tackle him, I hear he played football ;-) Edited August 10, 2015 by Wandering Snark 10 Link to comment
Dewey Decimate August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 While I'm not quite rooting for her, Becky's "I'm not interested in making deals!" was fantastic. Vanessa's byzantine Chinese-lunch-menu offers of "if you keep me and two players of my choosing safe this week, I'll take you to week seven with your choice of one other player" are ridiculous. I loved her nonplussed reaction and arrogant "Becky is not a strategic player/doesn't know how to play the game" TH. You'd think a poker player would have more skill with handling a loose cannon. Johnny Mac's sparse yet prominent back hair was distractingly odd. 9 Link to comment

It's a matter of degree. It's hilarious that he thinks he's a threat to anyone, or that anyone would THINK he's a threat. If Becky dislikes him, it's just because he's creepy, not because he's a threat. I'm not sure how to interpret that. Are you insinuating Bobcat Goldfillings is a pubescent werewolf? It would explain a lot, wouldn't it? So Becky makes her group promise not to utter the "V" word and she trots right over and tells Shelli about the plan to get rid of Vanessa? Trainface Becky winning the week ought to lead to all kind of interesting stuff. ghoulina August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I'm probably evil, but I found James's heckling of Meg during the HOH comp hysterical! Also, I loved when she was going on about how awful and slow she was, and how she needed to "pump the brakes". No, honey, no. Pumping the brakes would just slow you down even more. Does she not understand how a car operates? I sincerely hope she relies solely on public transit up there in NYC. Also, hilarious - whoever it was that automatically thought to ask Steve how many miles they had traversed. Okay, the whole fight between Clay-James-Vanessa. I see that as entirely Clay's fault. It looked like what happened is Johnny Mac went to Clay and told him he would do as Clay asked, but he was worried about Shelli staying, because Vanessa was in her head. It just sounded like he thought Vanessa had an easier time manipulating Shelli than Clay, and he was worried about how Shelli would go forward without Clay. At no point did I hear him mention James's name. Nor did I hear James and J-mac discussing Vanessa when they were sitting together a few minutes earlier. So unless they are editing this all crazy again, it appears Clay took it upon himself to throw James's name into the mix. I don't know why he needed to say anything anyhow. He basically threw J-mac under the bus by doing so. But he could have just gone to Vanessa and tried to feel out where her head was and who her targets were going forward, without saying anything about Johnny. Again, James had nothing to do with it and it appeared, to me, that he threw his name into it as retaliation for him and Shelli being on the block. But in doing so, he kind of screwed John. Not that John helped himself any by trying to throw himself in front of Clay's bullet. Becky's HOH room was pretty funny. James looked absolutely terrified at the prospect of eating brussel sprouts. At first I was digging Becky as HOH. She was calm, decisive, and looking to make big moves. But she kind of soured for me when she broke her word to the other three and told both Shelli and Johnny Mac her plans for Vanessa. In theory I get it, but too many people knowing your move is risky. One slip of the tongue and you're screwed. And I wouldn't be surprised if Shelli couldn't hold down her front of being upset for too long. She acts even the tiniest bit unconcerned about being on the block and Vanessa will be all over it. 4 Link to comment

Wootini August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I was initially concerned when Becky won HoH because like Shelli said, she's always been on the side that's in power, so which side will she be on when SHE'S in power? (One of the few astute things Shelli has ever said on this show) So I was pleased to find that she was targeting Vanessa. That's a good, strong move. And I get putting Shelli up because that's what the house agreed would happen last week, but again with this Steve/Becky thing. Can the editors not find any actual footage of Steve and Becky clashing with each other that would explain their dislike of each other? Because it seems to be that feed watchers have reported on such things. You'd think the cameras would have picked up on it. Unfortunately, I think that Becky being mean girl bitchy to Steve or Steve saying horrible things about Becky would go against their current edits. Becky is a strong player who has been flying under the radar and Steve is wacky and talks to the cameras. They're nice! :P However, I agree with those who have said that Becky should have kept her mouth shut about the grand plan. I don't know about Johnny Mac, but telling Shelli could bite her in the ass come veto time. She could have assured Shelli she had to go up on the block because that's what everyone wants, but she's not the target, and just don't tell her who the real target is. Because if Shelli or Steve wins Veto, don't think Shelli isn't going to go running to Vanessa to warn her that she's getting back doored. I do hope that this plan doesn't fall apart like 90% of BB plans do, though. I'm really looking forward to watching Vanessa melt down when she gets nominated. For a poker player, she often has a hard time keeping a poker face! :D Link to comment
marie August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I think she told Shelli about the plan just because she's trying to minimize the risk going into next week and the possible fast forward episode. Letting Shelli know she's not the target and she's only putting her up for appearances' sake let's Shelli stay focused on James/Jackie/Meg if she wins the next HoH. And Shelli's on the block so she won't blab because she doesn't want to do anything that might flip the vote. Basically, Becky's still playing both sides. She's working with Jackie/James/Meg for the moment, but she's obviously trying to stay in good with Johnny Mac and Shelli in case either of them come into power next. 1 Link to comment

iMonrey August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 This show has spent so much time on Clelli and on Shelli's tears they never bothered to tell us exactly when Becky decided she didn't want to work with Clelli anymore. Just a week ago she went running to Clay and Shelli the second she found out he planned to nominate one or both of them. Now all of a sudden she decides she's on team James/Meg/Jackie. WTF happened? The show just has a narrative they're determined to follow and clearly Becky wasn't part of their plan. They were probably hoping Shelli or another "sixth sense" alliance member would win this HoH and keep the Shelli/James feud going. So they didn't really have anything prepared for this episode besides more Clelli. I don't like it when people throw around armchair diagnoses like "might be borderline autistic/Asperger's" but I have to say, it just might be true of Steve with what we've seen. I actually feel kind of sad for him, all alone in that lounge room talking to himself, the cameras, the glass bottles. Weird. 1 Link to comment

And - although I think he'll deny it with his dying breath - I think James has a (no pun intended) big-brother attitude toward Meg, because his comments to Meg were straight out of the Teasing chapter of the Brother Book. They sleep in the dentist chair room and are only allowed certain pillows and blankets. They get to eat "slop" which is really just a high protein oat mixture that looks like porridge when cooked, as well as certain condiments that Big Brother had deemed okay, like barbecue sauce. They usually get one extra item that they can eat that week in addition to slop (this season, there's been popcorn one week, lollipops another week, etc.). The have-not thing adds nothing to the game and is even more ridiculous now that it's a non factor (no comps, people volunteering, etc). This isn't Survivor, where the lack of food/comfort plays a huge role in the game. It's just a pointless element that literally never (IMO) had any impact on the actual game whatsoever. They'll never get rid of it though, because then Grodner would have to actually acknowledge that something she came up with ISN'T a "fan favorite." 5 Link to comment

The HoH is responsible for targeting a few housemates to be uncomfortable and food deprived?? Are you sure it's not like a drawing from a hat or something? Because it seems like that would quadruple the paranoia and secret alliance strategizing and bloody hands references. If, for example, Clay and Shelli had been forced to sleep in adjoining dental chairs and couldn't canoodle under the covers--wouldn't they resent that person forever? Is there a dental chair with Steve's permanent body imprint? Ack, my head is spinning. Why isn't any of that on tv? Edited to add: while I was writing all that, the other posts came along saying it was no big deal and people were volunteering. Wootini August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 Yeah, I feel like recent seasons of BB have kind of omitted stuff like the Have/Have Not situation, which used to be cause for much drama. I mean, it tended to be more like someone whining about how they've been on the losing side and been a Have Not for three weeks now and the slop is making them crazy. But it was SOMETHING. Between that and a lot of the interpersonal drama happening off-camera this season, I feel like the editors are really falling asleep on the job. Maybe they're TRYING to omit things so we feel like we have no choice but to pony up for the live feeds? Good luck with that one. 4 Link to comment
liqidclark August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 (edited) Yes, James, hell hath no furry like a woman scorned. No furry can compare. Not even one dressed like a, I dunno, like a wolverine or something. No furry can yiff like a womanhood wrathed, indeedly. Again, Austin's DRs are the absolute worst. Ever. Just show us a still photo of him with the audio of his commentary, and we'll have a better performance. Flashback Vanessa couldn't even wait until she was finished lactating before giving us that sweet, sweet drama? Is this some homage to Natalie from BB9? Becky is a boss at more than folding clothes. Duh, she didn't get cast just to advertise for Abrocrombie. Get it, woman, get all those prizes and the HOH. The reverse snow angel in the crisco was a nice touch. I just hope she can go back under the radar after her HOH reign is over. Maybe try to gleefully smile less when things are going your way. Let those motherfuckers underestimate you all the way to the bank. Go fold some laundry until F2. Shelli, you actually CAN stop crying about Clay. Or at least cry to someone with power, someone other than Meg. It's nice that Shelli is "whatever" about all the people who will be lining up to suck Clay's personality after the show, though. She knows a showmance is ultimately just a showmance. Steve and John are both adorable, I don't care what anyone else says. Thank you, BB editors, for including the comic moment when Vanessa sprayed her hair with what-the-fuck-was-that-shit in the midst of a serious game discussion. I like that Vanessa and Becky don't like each other's gameplay style. It is terrible, just terribly entertaining. Did I mention that John is adorable? He's going to win, isn't he? His F2 speech will mostly just be his signature laughter. "I just kept the target off my back and then pulled through in the end and survived everything, HUEHEHEHEHA!" This was a great episode all around. I am eating this shit up like candy. Good casting, really good casting. Just make a template of this cast for all future seasons. Or just lock them in that box in that parking lot forever. Let them procreate and build a society of cunning, manipulative, bastards to entertain us forever. Would that be humane? Do I care? I don't like it when people throw around armchair diagnoses like "might be borderline autistic/Asperger's" but I have to say, it just might be true of Steve with what we've seen. I actually feel kind of sad for him, all alone in that lounge room talking to himself, the cameras, the glass bottles. Weird. I agree that Steve might be on the spectrum, but IMO it's a superpower. To be considered a non-threat, all while plotting the demise of everyone around you like a calculating android. Go Steve. Edited August 10, 2015 by Liqidclark 7 Link to comment

K-9 August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 Shelli and Clay plan to visit NYC together and stay at Meg's place. Haha! 2 Link to comment
Callaphera August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 WHAT?!?!?! Now I'm really confused, unless volunteering to go without appealing food is some kind of . . . . diet plan? Yeah. The past few seasons, people have volunteered. In fact, this season they are volunteering in a rotating system, so the people who were HNs the first week are HNs the fifth or sixth week, because then it's "fair". But the HoH technically chooses who it should be (or asks for volunteers). In the past, it was competition based with teams competing against each other. Really, at this point, only the feed watchers see the HN stuff. Personally, I'd like to see it either come back competition style if they're going to keep it around or just get rid of it altogether if they're not even going to show it on the broadcast show. 3 Link to comment
