Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I guess it was red day.

There's no way those sneakers fit the young Rod girl.

Why is the one girl wearing what appears to be a red 80s work jacket? It doesn't seem appropriate for being outdoors. I know they aren't going to wear shorts but why not a sweat jacket?

Is the girl who is dressed as Nancy Reagan (except Nancy would never wear white shoes after Labor Day) the next one on the auction block?

That is what it looked like!

I don't think they would fit me! Unless that girl has some awfully large feet, which I doubt. How uncomfortable to walk in those. Does Jill not see this?

Anytime the Rods go anywhere,it looks like they all threw on whatever clothes they had last minute.Except for Jill, who seems to put some thought into hers.David is always sloppy and ill fitting, and the kids look like ragamuffins wearing thrift store rejects. The older girls dress slightly better, although the red jacket looks like the only thing that could be found bf running out the door.Jmo

And yet she insults women who are fat and sloppy with blue hair. 🙄 and her own little girl is wearing men’s sneakers and her Teenage daughter is wearing I’ll fitting 80’s working girl clothes with a grimace stuck on her face!

Yes and she never insults David or any of the overweight women she meets from church.Only the ones in public she doesn't know a thing about.Perhaps the blue haired lady could recite the entire bible, can Jill do that?

That poor little girl is BEAMING because she was included. It honestly breaks my heart.

Renee is probably "dressed up" because she was excited to go, too.

These kids should be treasured so so so much more than they are.

It’s more than obvious that Jill doesn’t give a damn about the comfort of any of her children.  Those shoes look to be 2 or more sizes too big.  She looks like Bozo the Clown wearing them.  Heartbreaking. 😢

Well, the Rods are all packed in that RV, so it's a wonder the kids can find anything to put on. Everything probably smells of mildew and sweat besides.  Is Janessa still sleeping in that cage David's handcrafted crib in the closet with the load of clothing hanging over her?

I hope Jill was able to talk coffee & shopping friend Stephanie into doing some laundry for her.

O.M.G.  Toddler Janessa was covering her ears with her hands.  Sofia, the 4-year-old who was “saved” several months ago, is standing there sucking her thumb throughout the entire train wreck.  Can Shrek not hold the phone to videotape and take care of Jennesa and Sofia at the same time?  Neither one of those children should be put on display during a performance.

I watched the Plaths last night. This show might be too cringe worthy for me to continue to watch. But anyway, Lydia, "the good daughter" was talking about reevaluating a crush she had when she was 14. She is now 16. I wonder if it could be one of the Rod boys or the last Keller boy, seeing as they've seen more of the two families because of the Keller/Rod wedding.

The show is a complete shit show of ignorance, immaturity and embarrassment. Micah is going to end up as a porn star if he's not careful, and Moriah, who appears to be a hardworking young lady, will likely end up pregnant soon. And the parents prove a college education does not necessarily make one smarter or more knowledgeable in areas of parenting and life.

Moriah, is for sure going to look back and regret letting a TV show capture this very awkward time in her life, including her JRod level of interest in make-up. Moriah's make-up and wardrobe make 18 year old Jinger almost look mature and fashionable.

Lydia's crush is reportedly Olivia's brother. Her family is still very much fundie, aside from a couple other siblings who have also broken free.

The Plaths are so annoying. From watching a few episodes it seems that they have abdicated all parental guidance in favor of just laying down religious rules. They really haven't done any better than Jill and what's his name, though Jill is more annoying via her social media.

Now I’ve been sucked into the Plath vortex.  Good lord.  These two have NOT prepared their children for life outside of the farm. In any way, shape or form.  But maybe that was the idea...to keep them there so they would all be like the Duggar’s with most kids on the compound for life. I feel so sorry for the kids:

Ethan...good LORD this man is so naive and childlike.  Olivia is enjoying introducing him to the world...but for how much longer?  Once their first baby arrives this will grow REALLY tiring, having to raise the equivalent of two kids.

Micah is extremely handsome.  And people will take advantage of this, and him.  He is waaaaay too naive for his line of work.  I’m hoping that he stays on the straight and narrow.  Otherwise he is going to wind up in a place he may not want to be.

Moriah is doing well for herself, best I can tell. But she has a long way to go.  I’m hoping Olivia will mentor her through this transition.  But Olivia has her own issues to contend with.

Lydia is the family Jana.  Kim and Barry will never let her go.  Poor girl does it all, so why let her go?

Kim and Barry need to wake the hell up. Sorry that Kim grew up with an alcoholic parent.  Sad, but it happened.  Take the lessons and, instead of hiding your kids from the real world and instill in them the tools to understand how to cope with it.  You have basically left them to the wolves.  I grew up in an abusive alcoholic home.  I am neither of those things. Because I am capable of seeing right from wrong. And I’ve prepared my children to see the same. And leave your married kids the hell alone.  Ethan is head of his own household.  Let him decide if he wants a dang Coke with his Cap’n Crunch!  The day he married Olivia your oversight of his life ended.  Get over it.  You are the problem here, not them!  You gave up your “piece of heaven on earth” farm to move to town so you could maintain your illusion of control.  Disgusting.  They are both fractured individuals who need therapy in the worst way.

Oh my,that's funny,as I was just listening to the pastor at my former Methodist church say he didn't want to rot in the ground,he wanted to be cremated, and that either was fine with God

My mother-in-law (staunchly Catholic) just passed away a couple of weeks ago, somewhat unexpectedly, though she had been in a bit of a decline for some time. No one in the family had the opportunity to visit her for a good couple of weeks beforehand, given Covid,  and we hadn't actually seen her since early spring before they strictly started limiting visitors. She didn't really seem as though she recognized us in any case, but still...

Cremation probably would not have been her first choice, but she didn't specify that, and since we had Power or Attorney, we decided that cremation, with the option of a Catholic mass and burial (well, thank goodness the Catholic church finally made provisions for that over the past few years) would be best. That way the family could get together whenever it got to the point of being safe to do so. But, still, drat religion for making those sorts of decisions so difficult!

Are you kidding me?? Pamphlets entitled "Cremation. Is it Christian?" Is there nothing they won't judge?

I've got one I'll bet they haven't thought of. "Jill Rodrigues, Is She Christian?"

Seems like a reasonable question to ask.

It’s just a matter of time...

I would be so pissed if somebody at my church was filming everybody throughout the service.  I’d laugh if the pastor stopped talking and told her to put the phone away.  Aren’t you supposed to be praying and/or listening to the sermon Jill?
