She's Superman's Cousin!: And Other Supergirl Spoilers

I thought Lois and Clark were a happy couple in the Supergirl universe based on Kara praising Clark for being a great boyfriend and maintaining a steady relationship. So shouldn't Lois Lane be known to be in a relationship with Clark Kent rather than being coy about Superman and talking about how she wants him to propose to her?

Cat Grant once asked Superman about that, and he said (rather coyly) that there was room for both him and Clark in Lois's life, to which Cat replied, "Well, that's certainly modern!"

According to Supergirl.tv apparently they are not looking for a Lois:

Quote

Supergirl.tv has checked with the network and can confirm that the show is NOT looking for this role at this time. That said, legacy casting has given us two previous Lois Lanes already in Tery Hatcher's Rhea, and Erica Durance's Alura. That coupled with next week's episode introducting Sarah Douglas as Jindah Kol Rozz (who also played Ursa in Superman II), we've got a lot of incredible legacy casting under our belts and even more to look forward to.

Yeah that was funny. Maybe they both deflect rumours about Clark=Superman by "joking" about it. I could see her in S4, although if she's cast for matching TH then Cat Grant spent all of S1 bitching about a much younger woman (esp CW casting) and JDT played "her kid sister" not that Cat or Lucy are going to factor into potential future casting decisions.

Their rarely anything but a waste of screentime. And Alex is the wrong type of character to give a child. It confuses me how often writers think this is a great plot to give a character.

I can see why they gave it to Alex because they needed to break Alex and Maggie up and that is one thing it is impossible to compromise on, even though it was very cliche. That said Alex's life is completely unsuited for a kid right now and like Oliver she should think seriously about her job if she's going to be a single mother. That said, that's one of the reasons people think she'll be Ruby's guardian next season. Kid will probably know everything by the season's end, is part Kryptonian so maybe powers and old enough to be passed to Uncle James in a crisis.

Plus you know, when you can't think of another plotline, give a female character a kid/ or longing for a kid but infertility.

Amy Jackson (Saturngirl) interview:

Quote

Jackson calls Monday’s episode (The CW, 8/7c) a “major turning point” for the battle against Reign, as Supergirl and Saturn Girl team up — with Livewire and Psi, no less — to launch a new attack. “I’m glad viewers will get to see it’s not all about the love triangle,” she adds. “It’s about superheroes coming together to accomplish the task at hand. That’s what it’s really all about.”

“This episode, in particular, shows [Saturn Girl] to her full extent,” Jackson says. “She’s not just someone’s wife, she’s one of the founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes. She’s kind, she’s an idealist — and she’s powerful.”

Any hope for Mon-El and Kara to reunite on Supergirl? — Dustin
I can’t directly give you hope, but Amy Jackson does tease that there will be more information about Imra and Mon-El’s marriage that comes out soon, so maybe? “In the next episodes, more will unravel,” she says. “Obviously, I can’t reveal too much, but there is a twist and the turn in the plot for sure.”

Casting news:

Supergirl is well into its second week of break this week. There are only 52 days remaining until the incredible season 3 returns. The show, however, has not stopped being produced and new revelations are being discovered! Supergirl.tv can exclusively confirm that actor Angela Zhou from AMC's "Hell on Wheels" is taking the role of Dr. Grace Parker. Dr. Parker is a renowned surgeon in National City and has had quite a career in healing the sick and injured. Just what could the doctor be doing on Supergirl is anyone's guess, perhaps the D.E.O. will have need of her services!

Finally, a specific promo for 3x14, which is coming up in three weeks. No press release yet:

I have thoughts. Many, many thoughts, which include Henry Czerny better be making an appearance in this episode, or else I'll be very disappointed. On the plus side, we got a glimpse of Winn's mother and her role in the episode, which is not what I expected.

ETA: A better promo:

I'm just surprised they seem to have actually killed off Winn's father. Henry Czerny, though not a huge named actor, is still a named actor to where I would have thought that they'd grab him for more than one appearance. I assume he MIGHT make a cameo for his death scene, if they show it in the episode. I will just believe that this is another trick of the Toyman until we see a body. Besides, I glanced at the promo again and when the coffin explodes, it doesn't look like there's any body in there. it looks empty as the only thing exploding is the wood (I'm pretty sure).

Winn karaoke scene!  My dream come true!!!  I actually have always hated that song, but let's be real, Jeremy could sing the phone book and it'd be Grammy worthy.

I am thrilled to see him and Laurie singing Take On Me. I'm not joking; right now, I'm listening to Jeremy's latest performance of "She Used To Be Mine", and I'd gladly listen to him sing anything. Finally, they're putting good use of his skills on the show. I don't particularly count the crossover musical, since that was technically on another show. If this show could ever have an episode where we see a whole bunch of them go to sing karaoke for half the episode, that would be great.

I can't explain how long I've been waiting for this Winn-centric episode. He's been underused this season so I'm glad to have a Winn-centric episode, even if the Toyman really is dead. Plus, Laurie Metcalf as his mother? Brilliant casting right then and there.

Finally, the description for 3.14:

Quote

"Schott Through the Heart"

OSCAR-NOMINATED ACTRESS LAURIE METCALF GUEST STARS - When Winn's (Jeremy Jordan) father dies, his estranged mother, Mary (guest star Laurie Metcalf), reappears trying to reconnect and to explain why she abandoned him all those years ago. Winn is too embittered from his rough childhood to forgive her but when a copycat Toyman attacks, the two must work together to stop him. Mon-El (Chris Wood) tells Kara (Melissa Benoist) something important about the Worldkillers, and Alex (Chyler Leigh) becomes suspicious of Myr'nn's (guest star Carl Lumbly) recent behavior.

Glen Winter directed the episode written by Caitlin Parrish & Derek Simon

(#314). Original airdate 4/16/2018.

A c-plot with Myr'nn? hmmm..

From Ask Ausiello:

The CW series’ midseason premiere (airing Monday, April 16) features “Dame Laurie Metcalf” (as Winn’s mother) as well as some “phenomenal” flying monkeys, exec producer Jessica Queller raved during our visit to the set. “It’s one of my favorite episodes of the season,” she added, “a showcase for Winn, about his father and his mother and that backstory.” It also boasts “something we in the writers room like to call ‘Kara-oke’ — a karaoke bar scene that bookends the episode, with all of our amazing actors who happen to have amazing voices singing” — including, yes, Chyler Leigh, who missed out on last year’s musical ep.

Relationship drama coming!

As part of TVLine’s upcoming in-depth Q&A about the back half of Season 3 (premiering Monday, April 16), executive producer Jessica Queller told me, “There’s a big reveal” involving Lena “that will enrage Supergirl and the DEO. It turns into an epic battle of wills between the two women. I wouldn’t want to miss it!”

So there are WorldKillers still in the future?
Well, I'm glad J'onn is getting a plot.

OMG... it sounds like they're going with Martian dementia.  Wow, considering the Martian power levels.

I want to know whose apartment that is!  It's not Kara's as there aren't paintings all over the place that we never see her paint, and it's not Alex's gray pomo.  Is it the one that J'onn got?

It actually is still Kara's. It's just that the lighting is different. I rewatched 3x07 to look at J'onn's apartment and his is different. Here's a pic of Kara's apartment.

What can we expect when Supergirl returns next week? — Alex

Last we left Kara & Co., viewers had discovered that Mon-El and Imra are actually in an arranged marriage, something the Girl of Steel does not yet know. “As a part of her journey of finding her identity and just coming to terms with who she is and knowing herself as best she can, she has really spent this season moving on and coming to terms with that relationship being what it is, and trying to be Mon El’s friend as best as she can,” Melissa Benoist tells me. “She doesn’t know at this point that they’re in an arranged marriage, but if he decides to tell her that, obviously she might change her mind [about her feelings], but I’m not sure.”

I remember the bit about the arranged marriage, but who did they tell the story to if not Kara?  I had forgotten that she didn't know.

I don't remember either, it feels like a conversation he might have had with Winn.

They didn't tell it to Kara or anyone else yet.  I thought the last scene that revealed it was when Imra decided that it was time she told Mon-El a few things that HE didn't know about the arrangement.

They wouldn't have told Winn, since Winn has proven that he can't keep a secret to save his life.

SUPERGIRL

PRE-FINALE: In “Of Two Minds” (airing April 30), Kara and Imra clash over how to deal with the third Worldkiller aka Pestilence, Alex flirts with death, and Lena’s efforts to cure Sam raise big questions — and in the episode “Trinity” (May 7), lead to explosive reveals. Because in addition to her work with Sam, “Lena is harboring some other secrets that Supergirl is not happy about, [and] that is the catalyst for a major rift,” says showrunner Jessica Queller.

In “Shelter From the Storm” (May 14), Supergirl, Alex, Sam’s mom and Lena all take action when Reign locks in on a new target, while Mon-El wrestles with a difficult decision. Then closing out sweeps is “The Fanatical” (May 21), in which the heroes realize that there is a specific item that can help them in their quest to defeat the Worldkillers. In seeking out said solution, “There are some fascinating and fun road stops,” Chris Wood teases, adding: “Some seeds that were planted earlier in the year come back into play, which is great.”

So I'm looking at the promo pics for 3.17, and Lena HAS TO find/figure out that Kara is Supergirl, right?? I mean it looks like she'll be working closely/directly with the DEO and Supergirl, it would dumb for her not to be able to put 2 + 2 together.

Plus, Supergirl sounds exactly the same as Kara -- no Flash or Arrow style voice modulation.  Plus they have the same scar on their foreheads.

So, some pictures for the finale of Supergirl are out (I believe they're wrapping up shooting this week). In the photos, confirmation that Amy Jackson will, at least, get to the finale. Another surprising piece of news, as I haven't really heard much, is that Erica Durance is on set as Alura AND is wearing a costume.

Also, to go along with the rumours that they're apparently nicking almost the entire male cast + Odette and Ruby's actress:

By the way, Ken has been a fairly reliable source, and I guess he was the one to stir up the Supergirl fandom with the news about Chris, David, Jeremy, Odette, and Emma Tremblay leaving at the end of this season.

I’m skeptical of this spoiler, but I always found it interesting that Supergirl is the only Arrowverse show that didn’t kill off a major character in its first season (I’m not counting Black Lightning as part of the Arrowverse). I know they’ve lost characters due to the move to Vancouver, but no one has tragically died.
