The couple eventually leave, and I pull out of my parking spot.  And as I do, I see the "Baby on board" sign in a rear window of the car.  Except instead of "Baby on board" it says "Baby Up in This Bitch".  Now, what kind of an ASSHOLE would you have to be to put that in your window?  I should point out that the car was a black BMW hatchback (ugly in my opinion although undoubtedly expensive) which in the upscale suburb I was in wouldn't warrant a second glance.  It just made me so mad.

@DragonFaerie,  holy cow.  This whole thing started as a bolt of lightening (as I recall you were actually packing up to go away and relax for the weekend, right?).  What a totally BIZARRE situation you’ve found yourself dealing with. I don’t know how you’re staying so together.  You’re doing great!  I know it’s scary and I know you want this over.  And it will be.  It will be.  

So this is my last post about Sophie  Girl.  My husband is a genetic blend of Archie Hunker, Ray Ramano and Al Bundy.  He’s a loving, compassionate man who’s also... crusty.  He NEVER posts on FB because 1) he’s not a “sharer” by nature and 2) he doesn’t really care to keep up with anyone.  First of all, he ordered a memorial marker for Sophie’s testing place yesterday.  Then last night, FB pings and he’s posted the following:

Wow.  So not only did some asshole come up with a way for other assholes to display their asshole-ness, some poor flunky in the marketing department was tasked with creating a rationale for it. 

Well, it did get my attention.  (Obviously.)  But I am not amused.

Friday is an AWESOME DAY!!!! I got to the hospital around 945 am. PT had already been there and had him out of bed and into the chair and some work and back into bed!!! And get this ---- The Pee Gods have deemed him worthy of pee!!!!! Met with the current kidney doctor - they spend 3 days at Richmond and then do 3 days at Oakland so it's a revolving door. Said most likely another round of dialysis on Sat, but was thrilled to hear that he's producing urine!!!   Then he had a second round of PT!!! Met with one of the surgery docs in the afternoon - he had been in surgery all morning. Got the results of the CT contrast - not the perfect picture we were hoping for - there is still a TINY leak at the site of the ulcer, but nowhere near the original hole. He has 2 drains in his abdomen, plus he's still on the NG tube with a suction on it. Idea is to keep all of those in place, no food or drink - BIG SAD from Raymond on that one and the surgeon is pretty confident that by keeping the stomach empty that the hole will slowly heal. No more CT scans he said for at least a week!!!! Talked to the current ICU doctor, who we had worked with before. She's a little bummed by the setback of the tiny hole, BUT she is excited about urine and the fact that his brain is all on board. No more confusion. Confusion is often caused by the liver not functioning, so the fact that his brain is running on all cylinders has her very happy and very hopeful that the liver has stopped going downhill and may start to heal. With the kidneys starting to produce urine she believes that they are starting to heal. She said the entire team now is focused on recovery and getting him home - it'll take several stages, but I think they're finally starting to get on board with my rainbows and unicorns!!! And before I left tonight - MORE PEE!!!!! Never thought I would be so happy for pee.

Thanks you bunches!!!  We've seen, I think at least 4 kidney doctors and at least that in liver doctors - so they have multiples, they just keep them on rotation between the 2 hospitals, which makes no sense to me.

You'd think they'd keep the doctors on rotation at the same bloody hospital! That has to be stressful for the doctors! Come ON Kaiser! (We're Sutter.)

I’m putting grout down in the kitchen of a house we’re preparing to sell.  Huge kitchen, feeds into a foyer and the laundry closet.  Biiiig space.  I’m expecting 3 days to grout the whole thing.  

But that’s not the issue.

i need a GOOD book.  I need a couple audio books.  YOU was the most frightening thing I’ve read in awhile.  Somebody tell me something really good.

@DragonFaerie I never imagined that I’d be so happy to hear about urine. Good for him. I hope this means that the worst is over and now it’s just going to take some time to get his stomach healed. It’s also a good sign that PT has him up out of the bed and beginning to move around. Best wishes continuing forward.

Wonderful news! I remembered when my husband came home after his transplant. He was the last person to get off the plane. I wanted to hug him, but he said he had to use the bathroom first. I was like what the heck, but then I realize his new kidney was working. So yes, I can understand being happy for pee.

Saturday - arrive at hopsital around 945 am and am told by his ICU nurse that an order has come in and he will BE MOVING OUT OF ICU AND INTO A REGULAR ROOM!!!!!  Also dialysis today.  Took forever, but he is now on the regular floor in a semi-private room.  Had dialysis and I went stood there and went over EVERYTHING when the ICU nurse handed off to his floor nurse.  Finally I'm home after 13 hours and got the cats in and fed and the car unloaded.  Now for food, healing meditations, hopefully a bath and do something around the house before faceplanting and heading back out in about 10 hours.

My mother has been gone for many years now, but... this is the first year I am not a Westie mommy. I lost my baby in February due to a cancerous tumor. For some reason, this year is hitting me hard.

Thank you, Temperance. Mother's Day was really hard for me at first after losing Mom. Twelve years on now, it still stings but not as much.

 I wish I could post some pics of Bill Hader and John Mulaney. It was so much fun! Guy introduced them as Bill Mulaney haha. Bill flew in from Los Angeles and was a little late. I can’t believe he flew to nyc for a panel.

Sounds like you've got it under control now, but activated charcoal is another odor remover, I think. You may be able to get it at an aquarium store and put it in a bowl in your car.

I'm devastated. We had to say goodbye to Hillary this morning. She came to us when she was three weeks old and has been on my lap or shoulder for as much of the following 19+ years as she possibly could. I loved her so much and I miss her more than I can say.

I've let Pixie and Lucy know that they need to step up and start being lap cats ASAP.

Sunday was a good day. Monday morning, they moved Raymond out of his bed and into the chair by his bed and his NG tube bit it, so a new one had to go in. They shaved off his goatee and mustache at his request - it kept getting caught in his tubes and the tape on his dialysis neck port. WBC still up, but talking to the amazing Dr. Baggs today - one of the top gastric surgeons - that's the only sign of an infection - no fever, no confusion, etc, etc, and I point blank asked him if it could just be a reaction to the hell he's been through the past 2 weeks and he said absolutely. Raymond is now allowed to sit on the side of the bed with his feet on the floor if I'm there. Up is easy, getting back down with all the tubing and iv's is a little more difficult but we're doing it. Slow and steady. I need minions or productive elves while I get a couple of hours of sleep - LOL. Let's keep it up folks. One day at a time

I definitely understand. I felt like a robot when my husband was first diagnosed. The first night he was home after getting out of the hospital I did not get any sleep at all because I was afraid he was going to have a heart attack. stroke or fall into a coma. I found out I am a lot tougher and stronger than I thought I was.
