I don't normally post in this thread but I saw something odd yesterday that I just have to tell somebody somewhere.

I was in my car in the parking lot of a garden center getting ready to leave.  It's May, and it's busy, and there are cars on either side of me so I have to be careful backing out.  In my right-hand mirror I see a young couple, obviously from the car on my right, setting up a baby carriage. I would prefer they didn't do it so close to my car, which is running and obviously getting ready to back up, but I have no choice but to be patient and wait.  So I do.

Are you guys familiar with the square yellow "Baby on board" signs?  Been around since the 80's, and you still see them from time to time.  What good they were supposed to do I never could figure out.  "Hey, if you're going to have an accident and crash into someone, don't crash into me, because there's a baby in the car?"  It's an accident, you idiots!  But to continue,

The couple eventually leave, and I pull out of my parking spot.  And as I do, I see the "Baby on board" sign in a rear window of the car.  Except instead of "Baby on board" it says "Baby Up in This Bitch".  Now, what kind of an ASSHOLE would you have to be to put that in your window?  I should point out that the car was a black BMW hatchback (ugly in my opinion although undoubtedly expensive) which in the upscale suburb I was in wouldn't warrant a second glance.  It just made me so mad.

Thank you all for giving me a place to vent.

According to one manufacturer of this stupid sign:

"EASY TO READ - The Zone Tech baby up in this bitch magnet text is done in big bold block letter that will remind other drivers to be cautious on the road. As a result people will be more tolerant to you and give you the space you need. The magnet hints other motorist to stay away from you, thereby reducing tailgating and bothersome honking. You will have a safer environment for your baby and for yourself as well.

CAPTURES ATTENTION - The Zone Tech baby up in this bitch magnet neon bright color attracts people's attention. The block lettering combined with the sign's bright color makes the Zone Tech Baby up in this bitch magnet a "must have" for parents.

The Zone Tech "Baby up in this Bitch" magnet adds a clever twist to the usual baby on board magnet. This will subtly hint other motorist to stay away from your car while providing them with a hearty laugh. The magnet clearly attracts the attention from passersby or other vehicles and accomplishes its goal; a safer environment free of tailgating or unwanted honking.

The text on the "Baby up in this Bitch" is in block letterings. According to statistics these are the easiest to read from the greatest distance. In addition the neon coloring of the sign attracts people's attention. The block lettering combined with the bold coloring make the Zone Tech Baby up in this Bitch magnet a must have for parents to be."

This is stupid. It would be funny to give it to it the obnoxious fundies I know personally.  (Although I would never actually buy it.)

I’m old, but I know what it means, and it’s the worst sign ever.  That’s terrible.

@DragonFaerie,  holy cow.  This whole thing started as a bolt of lightening (as I recall you were actually packing up to go away and relax for the weekend, right?).  What a totally BIZARRE situation you’ve found yourself dealing with. I don’t know how you’re staying so together.  You’re doing great!  I know it’s scary and I know you want this over.  And it will be.  It will be.

So this is my last post about Sophie  Girl.  My husband is a genetic blend of Archie Hunker, Ray Ramano and Al Bundy.  He’s a loving, compassionate man who’s also... crusty.  He NEVER posts on FB because 1) he’s not a “sharer” by nature and 2) he doesn’t really care to keep up with anyone.  First of all, he ordered a memorial marker for Sophie’s testing place yesterday.  Then last night, FB pings and he’s posted the following:

Wow.  So not only did some asshole come up with a way for other assholes to display their asshole-ness, some poor flunky in the marketing department was tasked with creating a rationale for it.

Well, it did get my attention.  (Obviously.)  But I am not amused.

@DragonFaerie,Soooooo happy to hear about the progress! I figured you were in Richmond, but you'd think Kaiser (assuming, but pretty sure) could have a specialist for each location. If you happen to be in Oakland, I am in walking distance. Here if you need anything. 😊

Thanks you bunches!!!  We've seen, I think at least 4 kidney doctors and at least that in liver doctors - so they have multiples, they just keep them on rotation between the 2 hospitals, which makes no sense to me.

You'd think they'd keep the doctors on rotation at the same bloody hospital! That has to be stressful for the doctors! Come ON Kaiser! (We're Sutter.)

I’m putting grout down in the kitchen of a house we’re preparing to sell.  Huge kitchen, feeds into a foyer and the laundry closet.  Biiiig space.  I’m expecting 3 days to grout the whole thing.

But that’s not the issue.

i need a GOOD book.  I need a couple audio books.  YOU was the most frightening thing I’ve read in awhile.  Somebody tell me something really good.

Friday is an AWESOME DAY!!!! I got to the hospital around 945 am. PT had already been there and had him out of bed and into the chair and some work and back into bed!!! And get this ---- The Pee Gods have deemed him worthy of pee!!!!! Met with the current kidney doctor - they spend 3 days at Richmond and then do 3 days at Oakland so it's a revolving door. Said most likely another round of dialysis on Sat, but was thrilled to hear that he's producing urine!!!   Then he had a second round of PT!!! Met with one of the surgery docs in the afternoon - he had been in surgery all morning. Got the results of the CT contrast - not the perfect picture we were hoping for - there is still a TINY leak at the site of the ulcer, but nowhere near the original hole. He has 2 drains in his abdomen, plus he's still on the NG tube with a suction on it. Idea is to keep all of those in place, no food or drink - BIG SAD from Raymond on that one and the surgeon is pretty confident that by keeping the stomach empty that the hole will slowly heal. No more CT scans he said for at least a week!!!! Talked to the current ICU doctor, who we had worked with before. She's a little bummed by the setback of the tiny hole, BUT she is excited about urine and the fact that his brain is all on board. No more confusion. Confusion is often caused by the liver not functioning, so the fact that his brain is running on all cylinders has her very happy and very hopeful that the liver has stopped going downhill and may start to heal. With the kidneys starting to produce urine she believes that they are starting to heal. She said the entire team now is focused on recovery and getting him home - it'll take several stages, but I think they're finally starting to get on board with my rainbows and unicorns!!! And before I left tonight - MORE PEE!!!!! Never thought I would be so happy for pee.

Wonderful news! I remembered when my husband came home after his transplant. He was the last person to get off the plane. I wanted to hug him, but he said he had to use the bathroom first. I was like what the heck, but then I realize his new kidney was working. So yes, I can understand being happy for pee.

@Happyfatchick, what genres do you prefer?   I can give you audiobook recommendations in Sci-fi, mystery and paranormal.

Here's one I love, I've listened to it many times:  My Life as a White Trash Zombie

I wish people who are dealing with the loss or absence of a mother or mother figure some peace today.

Also some peace to those who want/wanted kids and don't have them.

My mother has been gone for many years now, but... this is the first year I am not a Westie mommy. I lost my baby in February due to a cancerous tumor. For some reason, this year is hitting me hard.

I’m sorry @Westiepeach. Perhaps one day soon your heart will be ready to love another Westie Baby that needs a home.

Thank you, Temperance. Mother's Day was really hard for me at first after losing Mom. Twelve years on now, it still stings but not as much.

@Westiepeach, I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks, everyone for the car advice yesterday! I did everything you suggested, and it smells SO much better today!!! I bet it will be okay tomorrow. Thanks, moms! You guys have so many good ideas! 😃😃😃

Sounds like you've got it under control now, but activated charcoal is another odor remover, I think. You may be able to get it at an aquarium store and put it in a bowl in your car.

Or this says you can use charcoal briquettes: https://lifehacker.com/use-charcoal-briquettes-for-cheap-and-non-toxic-odor-re-5644007

I'm devastated. We had to say goodbye to Hillary this morning. She came to us when she was three weeks old and has been on my lap or shoulder for as much of the following 19+ years as she possibly could. I loved her so much and I miss her more than I can say.

I've let Pixie and Lucy know that they need to step up and start being lap cats ASAP.

@DragonFaerie, keep the good news coming! So happy to hear his recovery is moving in the right direction.

From experience I know how hard it is to do the hospital visit by day, and then try to get all the life chores and sleep in by night. Exhausting. Sending you hugs and wishes for stamina.

Thank you.  I'm on whatever is lower than fumes to run on, and I know once he gets home, and he WILL, I will definitely need minions

I definitely understand. I felt like a robot when my husband was first diagnosed. The first night he was home after getting out of the hospital I did not get any sleep at all because I was afraid he was going to have a heart attack. stroke or fall into a coma. I found out I am a lot tougher and stronger than I thought I was.
