12 bakers entered the tent for the second week in a row ...

What an episode! Sorry, fellow Americans for chiming in early, but I must speak. It was so sad to see Jeff walk off the set. I felt so bad for him going in for the technical still "wobbly" but wanting to try. I hope he's better now. Maybe he can try again next year.

And then a few minutes later to see Illiyin collapse. What a spooky coincidence. It was a very shocking episode. I hope there are no more emergencies, for their sakes and mine.

It was also awkward having Noel stand there for Illiyin's criticism. And I thought for a second that Dylan was playing a mean joke by falling over. Glad to find he was just being a klutz.

The baking took a bit of a backseat for me this week, but I did laugh during the technical challenge at everyone saying "mint cream biscuits" when they were obviously tiptoeing around a brand name. Google tells me those are called Viscounts. I only like mint and chocolate together in limited applications (Thin Mints and Frango mints), so I was with the bakers on not being thrilled by the challenge.

I wondered in the signature why Paul and Prue were splitting the Viennese whirls in half before tasting them. They're meant to be eaten as a sandwich cookie, right?

I said the *exact* same thing.  Why ask for a "sandwich cookie" and then take it apart and eat only part of it?  I could see taking a bite of the whole cookie and then testing each element separately, but that's not what they did.

Bummed Jeff had to leave. Every time he spoke, I heard Jim Ignatowski from Taxi!

Some of those fairy tales were making me cry! I guess they were more Grimm Brothers than Disney.

Oh yes, especially Nelly's. Very brave of her to share that, and her theater came out well. Really, I rolled my eyes when they said "build a puppet theater," but everyone rose to the occasion. Cristian's was very nice looking, and Dylan's was really cool. I wish Illiyin would've added her people like she planned.

So sad Jeff went home but he didn’t look well. I liked him and Andy twinning outfits. Poor Illiyah, I’m glad she was ok and didn’t go home.  And then Dylan falls over! ‘Dropping like flies’! Lol!
I love Nelly and Noel’s interactions, they are so funny together.

Where did they say Sumiyah is from, her accent is so different? That was so sweet of her helping Hazel. She derserved star baker. Christiaan’s puppet show deserved that handshake. Great episode!

I wonder if something was going around. What was the odds that two people would be dizzy. I felt bad for Jeff, having to leave like that. And I have to admit because of the stupid preview (that is on before ep). I spend the whole time wondering what was going to happen to Iiyah and then reround it to see it again (I'm ashamed of myself). Hopefully she is okay.

I feel like Christiann should have won. His show shopper was a amazing. Also he was the only one that had a story (and an original one) that he was able to tell them and it tasted good. But I guess Sumiyah was more constant overall. I still think it should have been him.

Sad about our NY Jeff, but the show is not everybody's thing.

How has Sumayah managed such a pronounced vocal fry and uptalk worthy of a bored California teen, mixed so thoroughly with that Brit accent that turns into Scots?  My ears are SO confused!  She is VERY nice though.  Good for her getting STARB.

I'll have to say, JD Vance needs to get some guyliner tips from Noel, because as usual, he's ON POINT!

Is it just me, or does Alison say "BiKE" instead of "BAKE"?  Just me?....ok....

More fiber craft spotting: Christiaan wearing an awesome crochet granny square button up.  HUGE kudos to whoever made it, it's fabulous.  These folks are already besting Noel in the Sweater Smackdown!

Ok, back to baking.  Poor Hazel, done in by too much butter in her biscuits.  If she was a US Southerner, we wouldn't be talking about cookies and she wouldn't have had to re-make anything.  *LOL*  She just couldn't get it right for this crowd.

And OMG, Nelly is just the best character we've had in a long time, and she is SO real!  "Can you feel the Jam"?  *ROFL*  The Nelly & Noel Show is one we didn't know we needed!

The mint creams were a throwaway round for me.  Chocolate & mint exist 2 ways in my world: York Peppermint Patties and Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies.  Full stop.

Dylan is smoking hot.  He's got that sexy Jason Momoa look crossed with a Samurai, with the gash through the eyebrow thing.  *whew*

Showstopper: Pretty much a tent-wide disaster.  OMG, Christiaan has a color-coded spreadsheet?....*Heeheeh*

Paul Hollywood has mellowed SO much over the seasons.  I've always adored that silver fox, and it's nice to see him softening in his attitude and taking more into account the emotion behind the bakes as much as the techniques.  He's finding more to compliment, than to criticize.  That's evolution.

Hazel was not a surprise.  What a sweet lady, she was a trooper.

Oh, good. It's not just me.

And . . . we're back to building impossible creations out of desserts in an unreasonable time. Granted a few of them managed to pull it off, more or less, but I don't like this aspect of the show. I get they think it makes it more interesting but we're supposed to be judging these people on how well they bake. Not on how well they work in construction.

I don't get why Sumayah used goat cheese in her Signature Bake if she can't stand the taste. Why would she make something she doesn't like?

I got a kick out of Nelly chasing Noel around with her chocolate hands.

I like this group, because some of them are irreverent and sarcastic instead of being sweet and fake-modest to pander to the audience. Cheeky British humor is a delight.

We like accidental slapstick so when Dylan took the swan dive we laughed our asses off (but not in a mean way). He is uniquely gorgeous.

I prefer the mellow smiley Paul, and Pru's innocent "big truncheon" was hilarious. That stinker Noel, latching onto it.

Definitely easy on the eyes but seems a lot quieter than the others.  Maybe he is not as comfortable.

His grandmother was seen wearing a sari so I am assuming that his heritage is at least half Indian.  The picture of his dad looked more Asian.  Anyone know his heritage not that it matters.

Dylan said his dad is Japanese.  That was why he did the Moon Lady puppet theater.

We spent the first 5 minutes wondering why two people were dressed identically in green quarter zips, the tan apron, and orange baseball caps.  It was like having a stunt double on the other side of the tent.

She said that her parents liked the taste (I assumed they sampled what she practiced), so she was going to trust them even though she didn't like it. And it paid off. What I'm curious about is why she tried it in the first place if she doesn't like the taste.

Last week, I made a comment to my husband that the editor of the episode was kinda being a dick for including a clip of Dylan tripping on his skateboard instead of using a clip where he does something cool, but now I see that it was foreshadowing for Dylan falling off his stool this episode.

I've been watching this show for years and yet, every time I hear "it's biscuit week," my brain immediately thinks American biscuits and I get excited to see what kind of flavors and/or different types of biscuits they're going to make. Every time.

Dylan looks just like Tia Torres' twin sons on Pitbulls and Parolees. I can't get that out of my head. It's uncanny.

Feel bad about Jeff. He seemed to be ill almost from the get-go. I wonder if the contestants have to get physicals before being on the show. The only reason I mention that is because the contest is such a grind and we've seen a number of contestants come down ill over the years.

I have having a devil of a time with the accents this season.  Maybe because it's been so long since the last one but I cannot live without closed captioning!

I can barely understand a word Andy says, but I'm OK with everyone else.

John and Mike seem to be the front runners so far this season, but there's a lot of potential with some of the others.

I loved Christiaan's theatre.  It was a work of art and the story was so creative.  The fact that he actually did four scenes and acted out the story was fantastic.

I'm going to miss Hazel.  My mother's name is Hazel, so I had a soft spot for her and was hoping she would go farther.  I imagine this type of competition can be a big change for many of these home bakers.  I like the idea of not sending anyone home the first week (although I know that was just this year due to Jeff's illness), that way the bakers could get accustomed to the tent, cameras and be more relaxed before the eliminations start.

I feel this way about most competition shows.  Give them one episode to find their feet.

She does that on purpose.  It’s supposed to be a fake Cockney accent.

According to the subtitles on last series' episodes (which I just finished watching, so it's fresh in my mind), it's meant to be a Jamaican accent. Hammond's parents are Jamaican. This series the subtitles have not mentioned it (through these first 2 episodes), but I also haven't really noticed her doing it, at least not in the same pronounced way as in the previous series.
