Soooooo now Kayce's vision said he couldn't have his cake and eat it too? So he's just going to sit around and be Monica's little bitch? I thought she had a job? And I'm not talking about this time off because of losing her baby. She needs something to do other than be up Kayce's asshole.

Shouldn't John be governing the state?

Are Rainwater and John going to team up?

I can't believe Jamie falls for every fucking thing. Like you were raised around Beth,  he should be suspicious of everyone.

The wolf thing, has got to be going somewhere other than flashbacks and threats.

And Beth, you can't smash bottles up against someone's head and not pay the price. Even though if someone was all up on my man I would probably lose my shit too especially having had some drinks.

While the tourist drunk girl was really stupid touching Rip and then walking up to Beth. Beth does get her father is the Governor and isn't she supposed to be the Chief of Staff? She can't break beer bottles on tourists heads and it be ok.  Media, press, news would be all over it. She really needs to be spoken to and yelled at for her behavior to knock some sense into her.

Rip really was right and the rest of them going to bars in town never works. If Beth was bored, they should have sent her off and let her go alone. Rip shouldn't have allowed it.

Jamie is so blind, she's up to something wake up.

Oh great the barrel racer is back.

Kaycee can just take a leave, what is he going to do? Just stay home and not work? So both will sit home not working? They should have just killed Monica off.

Not to worry, Beth will just threaten to beat up the Sheriff, everyone in the jail and the judge and they will be so scared of her they will let her go. Then she will have the tourist lady killed. Beth will never learn her lesson because the show wants us to think she is above all laws and everyone is afraid of her. She is just ruining the show for me and I don’t find anything she does amusing or bad ass.

Once again, NO JIMMY.  Hallellujah!   However, even with my happiness that he didn't show up, I thought this entire episode was a snoozefest until the bar fight in the last five minutes.

Don't care about Monica.  Really really don't care about Monica.  Don't care if she's smashing up her kitchen and cutting off her hair.  Don't care that Kayce wanted to "go to her" and was told not to.  Don't care about Kayce.

Don't care about whatever Rainwater is or isn't doing.

Didn't really follow what Beth was doing in Salt Lake.  Don't understand how she got there so fast there and back in one day.  They showed her driving early in the morning and then she referenced how Montana was 7 hours away, so it implied that she drove there.  I guess she left early in the morning, had her 10 minute meeting, and then drove home?  She got back in the dead of night, making it seem like she did drive.  If so, I'm not sure why she wouldn't have flown, considering she was making a $300 million deal.  Money wasn't a concern.

I get that she sold the firm that she took over last season, but kept all the land, but put it in a conservation easement.  Is this so the land will forever be locked up and Silver Hair can't get it?

Don't care about Silver Hair.  Don't care about Beth 2.0 or that Jamie is a sucker or that she will seduce him.  Don't care.

I did like the opening scene with Young John leading Young Rip and two others and finding the eaten cattle.  The scenery was spectacular.  I'd much rather have scenes of the amazing scenery all day every day instead of scenes of horses twirling in circles and stopping on a dime.  Maybe Taylor Sheridan got the memo after seeing some comments last year about the overuse of those kinds of scenes.  However, he brough back one of the barrel racers.  Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?  Whyyyyyyyyyyyy? [/Nancy Horseface Kerrigan]

Young John who was a commissioner actually telling the board or whoever that was that the wolves are here and dangerous.  So by the time we get to present day, the wolves have been an issue for decades.  Leading to the Fish and Wildlife people asking Rip about the wolves that Colby and Ryan killed and them saying the wolves were there.  From the way the camera focused on the ground where Rip and company buried the wolves, I'm assuming this storyline isn't over.

The bar fight.  Rip obviously knows that Beth is a fighter.  Why wouldn't he have done more to prevent that woman from picking a fight with Beth?  I know that Beth shouldn't have hit the woman with a bottle, but I'm assuming the woman said something crude about how she was going to take Rip away from her.  The woman did bring it upon herself.

Rip is a big ol' pussy when it comes to Beth.  He should have stood firm about not wanting the guys to go to the bar.  Plus, they didn't want to go anyway and were having fun right where they were.

I hope Jamie is playing the long con on Beth.

I don't understand or care about all of the business shenanigans, I just want Beth and John to get royally fucked over in the end.

Nice to see some realism as to Board consequences for Caroline losing billions.  Further realism would have her henchman not following through on her orders until "New York" gave the OK.

LOVED the Rainwater segments.  Mo was great.  Kaycee begging for a job?  Ridiculous.  I did like the compliment Mo paid him.  I think Rainwater would understand that the reason he is a target has nothing to do with actual Confederation grievances.   It's just power politics - someone else wants to be King.  I hope this all leads to an affirmation of the alliance previously struck with Dutton.

Loved the flashback scene with the wolf kill and the public hearing.

The Feds who demanded Rip escort them to the wolf kill site displayed very unusual savvy by show standards.  Then, at the end, they reverted to standard, "SQUIRREL" foolishness.  Get to the choppah!

The meeting where Beth signed over most of her interests in M & S was also a lot of fun.  I'm sure the numbers were way exaggerated, but the basics were true enough, imo.  Good boy, Rob.

I could have sworn Monica told Kaycee of the precise spot she wanted her John laid to rest.  That throwaway line by John the Elder that Kaycee and he should go find a spot was very off to me.   I am happy to be corrected, though.

Overall, this was peak Yellowstone.  YMMV.

Hi Madding...
Can you help?  I thought Beth was fired from Market Equities.
And threatened with all sorts of law suits for insider trading.
But now she is not only still employed by the company, she is selling it.  For pennies on the dollar.  Eh?
What am I missing here?

So, they were all fine celebrating in the bunkhouse til bad hair Beth decides they need to go out. Now their night is all fucked up because of her.  So glad they hauled her off...not that anything will come of it.  She needs knocked down a peg or ten.

Her hair has been driving me crazy since day one, all her money and her hair is matted, bangs in her eyes, ugh.  I had posted that I wanted to give her a decent blow out and I am not even a hair stylist!

Maybe she will have to do a little time as a cell mate with that conservationist woman (that Piper Perabo played), she tried to get rid of.

Schwartz and Meyers is the M&A firm (at least I think it is an M&A firm) that Beth used to work for.  Bob Schwartz sold the firm to Market Equities.  The CEO prior to Silver Hair (black woman, Wilma?  I forget what happened to her) fired Beth.

Silver Hair gave Beth a job at Market Equities.  I believe that as part of her compensation package, Beth asked for a controlling interest in Schwartz and Meyers.  Beth got fired by Silver Hair but I guess since the shares of Schwartz and Meyers are in Beth's name, Silver Hair couldn't take them back?  So Beth still owned the firm which I think owned the real estate that Silver Hair wanted to build the huge development on.

Beth gave away the firm to that dude for next to nothing, but kept all the land and put a conservation easement on it.  I think this means that it can't be developed.  So Silver Hair got doubly screwed.

I think that's what happened.  Somebody please correct me if this is incorrect.

Ah, big, profane, and oh-so-angry Beth, having just won a victory against her old employer, just HAS to go out and start a bar fight, and Rip and Co, of course, have to act like Sherriff is being an asshole for arresting her, or that the bouncers somehow manhandled her inappropriately. Oh, and she ruined Old Dude's birthday celebration in the process, which was going quite nicely.  I'd like to think this is the opening with which Jamie starts to take her down a notch or two, but knowing this show, she'll get out of it, and the show will expect me to want that.

Please don't tell me Beth was all wound up because Daddy happened to mention poor, bad, dead Mama. Gimme a break.

Don't call the new businesswoman Beth 2.0-she's better, in that she might be devious and whatnot, but comes off as a tad more stable. I'd much rather see her around than while-haired-crazy-old one. Please let this be the last of her.

What is this shit about the wolves?

Make no mistake, Rip is the bitch in that relationship, always has been.

Yep, Monica is going to be crying and whining all season long.

"Those bouncers had her in a choke hold!" - Such a petite, well-mannered woman, why on earth would they do that??!!

IMO, Beth didn't look choked nearly enough.  Her behavior in starting the fight and acting aggressively while arrested won't (or shouldn't at least) reflect well on her. Rip made it sound as though the Sheriff would be in trouble for arresting the instigator of a bar brawl, who is at minimum guilty of battery on that other woman. Just think how it would look if the Sheriff didn't arrest her - the local DA can decide whether to go with the charge or not, but the Sheriff would have looked weak and ineffectual if he didn't arrest Beth. I'm surprised no one else got taken in, but possibly with so many people involved, it would have been too hard to sort them all out.

In other news, John Dutton is the dog who caught the car. He's now governor and neither wants the job nor knows how to be governor and he seems uninterested in learning anything from the previous governor. Around this time, the voters should be rethinking their votes and considering how to have him recalled.

The new woman working for M.E. looked more polished than Beth ever is, even though her hair also was a little messy. Then she walked down the stairs with that thigh-high slit in her skirt. I guess that's how you can tell she's up to no good.

The new woman working for M.E. and Dutton's assistant are both slim and dark-haired, so sometimes I have difficulty telling them apart.

Same here.  I've said all along that they should show the bunkhouse guys away from the ranch and having fun--even though it ended in a fight.  I hope they get a chance to have another party without having to fight.

It looked like the camera was focused on a hoofprint, indicating that there were horses at the site when the wolves were killed, which may be important in the future should FWS actually choose to investigate.

And?...  Law enforcement on this show has been repeatedly shown to be just that except when they're doing the Dutton's bidding.

I did a quick read on conservation easements, and one part stood out:  "As is the case with any property interest, a conservation easement may be taken by eminent domain (and thereby extinguished) when the public value of the proposed project exceeds that of the conservation interest being protected by the easement."  That could end up being a battle royal between ME and Beth, Inc. and/or the State.

Isn't there already a cemetery on Yellowstone where John's wife and first son are buried? If  so, can you just pick any old place on the ranch that you want and bury someone? I am confused about the rules for burial in Montana. Granted it is a very large ranch but aren't there rules about this?  I know this is fiction and there are lots of dead bodies all over the ranch but if you are doing this legally even by Indian rules, how is this done?

Now that Beth has been arrested, perhaps States Attorney Jamie will take an opportunity to exact some revenge on her given his position.

Still no mention of his girlfriend/baby momma from past seasons ? Maybe she left him when he withdrew from the governors race.

There is a cemetery, but I’m not sure how many are actually buried under the headstones. In the first season, Lee had a funeral.  John later went and had the body reburied elsewhere on the ranch.  A spot where a specific  bird landed in front of him.  In 1883, we saw that Elsa picked her burial spot when a bird landed  in front of her as she was dying. We will probably see something similar in the 1923 series.
So I expect John and Kacy will pick a spot similarly for the baby and a headstone may go up in the headstone area.  All Monica requested was on the ranch up on the ridge. That is probably  a lot of area to choose from.

So in Montana can you just bury someone anywhere or is this just for the show?

I liked this episode.  It made me feel good to see what's her name (Warner) so angry.  It was also great to see NO JIMMY but too bad the barrel racer chick was back.  I thought they were gone for good.  I guess if we have to have one, Laramie is preferable.  I never could warm up to Mia.

The Kayce/Monica storyline keeps getting worse.  I don't care about Monica and never did.  I'd love to see Kayce have a new love interest......Avery where are you?  LOL

It would be great if after 1923 there was another spinoff featuring Josh Lucas as the young John Dutton

Hi voiceover
Jamie may get a W, but I forecast it would come at a severe cost.  Recall that Beth has that photo of Jamie dragging his murdered father to the Train Station. Of course, if the Train Station gets lit up, it will cause all sorts of interesting discoveries...going back many years.
Ah...this is getting very Shakespearian, twists upon twists.
But, if you do get that pony, you could board it at the Dutton ranch.  Cool.

I did a quick search and found that there are no state laws prohibiting burials at home, although local laws may regulate it.

For practical purposes, it might be helpful to identify and document specific areas where burials happen, so the bodies aren't disturbed by other ranch work, or if / when the ranch is sold or split up, the burials are protected.

Going back to the bar fight, I immediately thought that the "tourist" lady was a plant by whatever the company is that Beth screwed over. She picked out Rip from the entire bar, cozied up and then deliberately went over to Beth and whispered something to Beth before Beth hit her. I believe the whole thing was not random. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it here before me.

ETA: I see that @RedHawk mentioned this theory in the other episode thread.

Also, I know I'm in the minority, but I don't understand all of the comments about Jamie hopefully sticking it to Beth. Have people forgotten that he was okay with his biological father trying to kill off his entire adoptive family until Beth confronted him about it? What was the plan, so Jamie could inherit the whole damn Yellowstone Ranch? And daddy would just enjoy it with him? Wow! I'm sorry, but how can anyone think that's okay and that Jamie should "stick it to Beth"? In my opinion, Jamie should be in jail for covering up attempted murders.

Maybe not a "plant", because how would they know that Beth would talk everyone into going to that bar that night. She might, though, be working for or with that company and took advantage of the situation to play on Beth's insecurity about Rip and cause trouble. If that's the case, I hope she gets a bonus for having a bottle broken over her head, because that's going above and beyond for a worker bee or even a corporate officer, IMO.

I agree with you.  Many here seem to want Jamie to win, and Beth and John to lose everything.  Yes, Jamie has been treated as the black sheep of the family for years.  But up until a year or two ago, he believed he was a biological family member, and was always treated as such.  He has had a pretty comfortable life, everything was provided for him, he got a good education and rose to become Attorney General of the state.

He and Beth have always been at each other's throats, but that's probably not unlike some sibling relationships.  Their history is complicated by the fact that she has blamed and resented him for years for the unwanted hysterectomy.

I don't see this show as Jamie vs. Beth/John.  None of these people are particularly good people.  Jamie is just as bad as the rest of them.  He was going to let his family be killed.  He killed that reporter in Season 2.  He killed his bio bad.  John has killed people or had them killed.  Rip has killed people.  Kayce has killed people.  In fact, I think Beth is the only one in the family (not counting useless Monica) that has NOT killed anyone, is that right?

This is a complicated family with complicated relationships, magnified and exacerbated under the lens of this being a TV show.  I don't really dislike any of them.  I'd like to see Jamie get a win sometimes too, but I don't think it has to come at the expense of John and Beth.  I think Jamie makes poor choices and those poor choices are what gets him into some hot water.  The killing of the reporter is one of those times.  It seems like a foregone conclusion that Silver Hair's lackey/prostitute is going to seduce Jamie and get him to betray his family.  Jamie is a weak person, this is the same thing that his bio dad was doing with him.  He seemed to recognise it and regretted his actions.  But then John became governor and he's all butthurt again and is just going to repeat the same mistakes again, only this time he's being used by Beth 2.0 and not Bio Dad.  Sigh.

I have often wondered what this family would look like if Lee had lived.  Poor Lee.  He was a better person than all three of his siblings combined.  Maybe that's why TS killed him off, because he wasn't bringing any conflict or demons to the story.

I don't understand how the feds thought they could keep the wolves inside the boundaries of the park. There wasn't any kind of fencing and that flashback was probably before virtual fences were a thing.

Lloyd is 58? That had to be a joke, right? Maybe 158, though he is in good shape for a guy over 30.

That honey trapper Sarah Atwood's vocal fry is annoying to me. Is it supposed to be sexy? At her age it seems too try-hard IMO.

Beth overruling Rip in front of the crew. Hmm. What was she up to trying to use them to start shit in the bar where Abby sings? That's a lot of trouble to go to on a jealousy trip.

Oh please, in what world can Beth hit someone over the head with a bottle in a public place and expect to get away with it? And then she punched the woman again outside the bar. Is this part of her play against ME?

Hopefully the legal trouble Beth is in will end up giving Jamie some leverage over her, or at least more equal footing. I'm tired of Beth running roughshod over everyone.

Quote

The woman did bring it upon herself.

No, unless the woman made a clear physical threat on Beth, she did not bring upon herself a bottle broken over her head. That was an over-aggressive choice Beth made, and a potentially lethal one.

Quote

Make no mistake, Rip is the bitch in that relationship, always has been.

Like that's a bad thing, lol? Besides, I get the impression Rip is bringing a lot to the party equipment-wise. He knows his worth and Beth does too.

What's there to understand? It's a tv show, folks root for different people for different reasons. I haven't forgotten anything and I am rooting for Jamie to stick it to Beth. And I don't even like Jamie. That's the beauty of fiction.

Sigh. I’m another one who wishes they had killed off Monica. They (and by they, I guess I just mean TS, LOL) never should have made her pregnant, really, and killing off her baby is just awful. I don’t hate Monica…but Kayce’s family storyline bores me to tears. And LOL, I forgot all about Monica bathing her grown-ass son last season until someone mentioned it again. Ha ha OMG.

do enjoy Josh Lucas, but I have started fast-forwarding through all of that. Don’t care.

Please, stop shooting animals and showing dead animals! And now a horse is supposed to die because of something to do with Kayce’s dead baby? We just shot John’s horse last episode though? 😩

Oh god, barrel racer lady is back. WHY?!!!

Hmm, don’t know about Ryan’s potential love interest, but I really enjoy him and hope he gets some focus this season.

Carter doesn’t look like the same actor. I know that he apparently is, but my brain is having a hard time believing it, LOL.

When Beth wanted to take everyone out to the bar, and Rip said no, that should have been the end of that. He’s responsible for keeping everyone in the bunkhouse in line, and he knew it would end up being a shit show, but Beth completely ignored him and it pissed me off!

“Beth Dutton does wear a wig in Yellowstone. The ombre blond wig with front bangs is the signature look of Beth Dutton. Thick golden shoulder-length hair covering Beth's face goes hand in hand with her 'villain-ish' character in the drama. As the series progresses, the length of Beth's hair also keeps changing.’

I wouldn't be surprised if Sheridan already has that in the works...

I hope you're right.   There's a gap between 1923 Yellowstone and present day Yellowstone.

I've looked up Kelly Reilly, and her hair looks pretty much the same in real life, even in older pics. I hate the way she styles her bangs.

I knew there would be a brawl as soon as they started talking about going to the cowboy bar.

Her real hair does look similar but a little better than the wig. I wonder why they didn’t just use her real hair given there’s not a big difference. The wig is awful and distracting to me. Websites I searched said she’s a natural redhead. I had no idea she was English!

I thought the new woman’s hair looked good in the scene with Jamie. I liked her outfit too and thought it was classy until I saw the slit almost to her crotch.

Here’s Kelly Reilly on the red carpet so I’m assuming this is her natural hair. Another interesting bit: Rip refers to Beth as “110 pounds” but according to internet, Kelly Reilly is 5’6’ and 128 lbs. I wonder why the show writers thought they had to make her smaller.

Here she is as Beth wearing the wig, which is less red. It’s more strawberry blonde.

Same.  It’s not computing for me, lol!  He looks SO different!

Hi Lurking and Biscuit...
True, Carter looks a bit different.  He was pudgy and disheveled in the previous season.  Now he is taller and a bit neater.  But, IMDB indicates he is the same actor.
Tate seems to have aged about 5 years. He went from a little kid playing with the dog to a worried passenger ready to take over driving when his mom was in labor.
Perhaps this was a byproduct of a lengthy stretch between seasons?

OMG!  What is this show trying to say...and not so subtly?
The lesson, boys and girls, is that you resolve your differences by beating the s*** out of your opponent.
Previously we had Lloyd and Walker (Guitar man) beating the crap out of each other, to resolve their differences.
That one, BTW, was finished off by Rip, not only pounding Lloyd, but also stomping on his hand to break it.

Fast forward to yesterday's episode, which featured a brawl between Beth and Summer. A nasty, vicious fist fight.
I understand going after bad guys who kidnap your son, or poison your cattle.
Those actions deserve severe retaliation.
But, Beth and Summer?
Did Taylor (or his writing team) run out of intelligent dialogue and just decide to spice things up with a gigantic girl fight?

All the while the brilliant John Dutton, behaving like a petulant ten year old...unwilling to figure out how to do the Governor's job, so he does the next best thing...fires his entire staff.  Brilliant!

Wait...are we supposed to laugh at all of this?  Is any of this serious?
Is Taylor just having some fun with us?
Geez...this is getting hard to watch.

Yes it is. I watch for Kevin since I have been a fan for years. Once in a while I am glad I watch like John comforting Monica being the latest scene I enjoy, but the brutality and constant shilling of Sheridan:s shows makes me wonder why I do.

Love Kelly's cute bangs. But it looks like she is wearing a wig on the first pic. Just my assumption anyway. (https://www.perfectlocks.com/blogs/all-tressed-up/8-best-short-hair-with-bangs-try-these-effortless-looks)
