Lots of times, when people mention that they're bothered by a contestant swaying, I hardly even notice, but Oh My Gosh, Ray was like a human metronome! I was rooting for Sean. Ray seems fine otherwise, I just hope he tones it down behind the Champion's lectern.

I've known Final Jeopardy for three days in a row. I think Ray has a great voice and would be an excellent radio DJ. I'm surprised Cris hasn't posted anything about his experience on Jeopardy.

I thought they were gone but then realized if I hover my mouse pointer over a post I see the emoji circle show up very faintly, then if I actually move over the emoji the whole menu pops up, in a different order with the thumbs up as default (I do think it's a better order, because the ones that seem to be used most are at the front). But I'm on a PC; don't know what it looks like on a phone/tablet.

It's a football night for me, so I just checked the archive during halftime.  Thankfully, even with an entire category of photographs, not being able to see the visuals wasn't an issue.

The stepladder TS surprised me a little.  Same with Six Degrees of Separation, because even if you didn't know it just based on the actor and role (I didn't), the way the clue was phrased was a pretty big hint.

In the first round, ran America, tables, and TLC, and got all but one in lives and Dutch.  I missed two in supergroups, which is better than I thought I was going to do.

I did well in DJ, too; I ran plays and Asian Americans, and got all but one in the rest.

FJ was an instaget.  Seemingly alone among Gen X, I don't like that movie and have never watched it a second time (but I do really enjoy, and watch at least part of every time I come across it on TV, Die Hard With a Vengeance thanks to Samuel L. Jackson), but as someone else said action movie + Christmas = Die Hard.

I wanted Sean to win at least one more game so he could have the family bragging rights to his appearance on Jeopardy.  I liked him, and wondered about his accent.  Is he from Long Island, and that is how a person from there sounds?  His defeat shows that even if you have super quick buzzer skills, if you don't get most of the DD's and bet big you are probably not going to keep winning.  Cris ran into that problem at the end of his run.

I pre-called it too.  The last line is definitely said by Argyle the limo driver.  If I'd been one of the contestants, I'd probably have been bouncing right off the stage with my excitement over that clue.  I pretty much fell off the couch as it was.

And Die Hard absolutely is a Christmas movie.  It's set at a Christmas party on Christmas Eve with Christmas decorations and music, and many lines of dialogue refer to the holiday.  Plus the entire plot is about a man who's just trying to spend Christmas with his family, and the obstacles he must overcome.  That those obstacles are "terrorists" and explosions is just icing on the cake. 😀

I've never seen the play or the movie and the character name meant nothing to me, but the reference to Kevin Bacon gave me Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon which led me to Six Degrees of Separation.

I usually don't really notice the movements that tend to bug people unless they're really obvious. (Helps that I tend to look down at my scorecard between clues.) I did notice him moving a lot but it didn't bother me too much because I otherwise liked him a lot. But I did say "stand still!" at one point.

I added a comment on this in the Bugs forum, but it hasn't been approved yet.  So... it looks like the reaction button is still there, but depending on what theme you're using, it might be white on white so you kind of have to "feel around" for it.  So maybe try switching to a different theme temporarily until they get the coloring sorted out?

Yep, I got it too, especially since it was in my head because of a Christmas Movie Tournament on Twitter by someone I follow. I do like the movie too (I'm a Boomer if that means anything) I love Rickman, love the cop, Al, love the Christmas songs in the background. It's just a lot of fun. Also appreciate you putting 'terrorists' in quotes since they are not.

I sometimes don't but sure did this time. I think it's because I 'listen' more than 'watch' but eveytime the camera was on him, like for a DD, it was very noticeable.

I want to say that Sean reminded me of a Disney kid actor (from back in the day) but I couldn't come up with which one.

I think you're right; I just changed my theme to dark and it shows as a white circle against the black background.

I got Die Hard, but didn't pre-guess it (thought the Christmas controversy did factor into my guess - I saw it when it originally came out in 1988, but haven't seen it since. So I didn't remember the closing statement, or who said it, but I got there at least.

I loved his voice. He may twist a bit, but that voice is sure nice to listen to.

Did fairly well in a lot of categories. Though I couldn't remember Bonnie Parker's last name and said Bonnie Bartlett instead. Oops.

I was bummed that the Super Group category didn't seem to do anything fun with the name combos. Instead I just missed most of them because I'm old and usually only listen to my own playlists.

I did feel a little regret that Sean didn't surpass his cousin, but they'll still have plenty to talk about at the Christmas table - and they had different hosts, so that should be fun.

Same, except that I did get almost one of each group! I thought that was pretty funny. got Nine Inch Nails but not Franz Ferdinand, Imagine Dragons but not 21 Pilots, White Stripes but not Vampire Weekend, the other two clues I didn't get at all.

You at least came up with a last name even if it wasn't the correct one.  I said "Bonnie of Bonnie & Clyde" - somehow I suspect they'd have insisted on more than that.

I got all but the last one because I've never heard of Massive Attack.  I'm old, too, but do occasionally have the local pop station on the radio.  Although most of the groups included were more alt rock groups.

I ran Dutch Treat but was a little unsure about Ajax because the football club is not pronounced the same as the American cleaning product.  I probably would've said both "Ajacks" and "Eyeax" to cover all the bases.

I don't know 21 Pilots but I think I got all the others. I agree it was a shame that there wasn't really anything interesting about the category. I was prepared for something more like "Bananarama and Split Enz sounds like this ice cream treat" (what is Banana Split?) but ideally smarter.

Not a terrible game…in J! I ran Music Icons and Scales, missed one in Mummies and Tip, two in Alaskan Geography, and three in Time for Reading. In DJ I ran Big Animal, missed one in Christmas/Hanukkah and Ornaments, and two in everything else. Did not get FJ or any TSes.

Why the HELL did that woman bet $8,700 of her $8,800, considering that the guy had only $400?  Why didn't she make sure that she would finish in second place by betting less than $8,000?  There was no way she could have caught Ray, so why did she bet so much?  She cost herself $1,000.

I also shouted out a LOT of correct answers in Double Jeopardy. I also KNEW FJ. I felt almost brilliant...even if the answers were easy....and I like the new champ. He does remind me that if I am ever on TV, I need to get ten hours of sleep before I go before the cameras so I don't weave.

Every once in a while, there's a contestant who says "please" *every* time (s)he asks for a clue. Some of these people add the host's name. There's just something annoying (to me) about it. So, dear Ray is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Darn it, Sean we hardly knew ye 😄.

The menorah clue should have been valued at $200.  In the Toddler Tournament.

The relinquish TS surprised me a bit.  I bet with the throne as the example of something being given up, they were all trying to get abdicate out of their heads and come up with the Q word instead and no one could do it in time.

The wrong answers for the Buffy city TS amused me; I've never seen the show, but through cultural osmosis thought it was set in Summer-something.  The first wrong answer was Summerville.  So then I thought, wait, no, it's Sunny-something.  Second wrong answer: Sunnyvale.  At that point, Sunnydale finally came to mind.

I only ran music icons and scales in the first round, but I got all but one in the rest.

I kicked ass in DJ, other than in TV & movie places; I only came up with two of those.  But I ran ornaments and verbs, and got all but one in everything else (boy did I kick myself for missing the whale shark DD; duh!).

I didn't know FJ, though -- my guess was Iceland, based on having volcanoes and lagoons, but I knew it was wrong as there was no way it has anywhere near that many UNESCO sites.

On a shallow note, I like the color of Ray's shirt, and it worked well with his eyes.

Yeah, that was odd -- she couldn't win, but she had a lock on second place.  The wagering suggestion section on the J! archive even says, for Neal, "You've no hope of catching up... unless Elizabeth does something stupid. So risk $399."  He wagered something personal (I assume) instead, but since she did do something stupid, he still wound up with her $2000 and her with his $1000.

Funny, I did not notice Ray’s movements last night, but I certainly did tonight.  And I did not read the comments about last night’s game until just now.  He really does sound like a lot of the Canadian radio announcers I heard growing up.

Who was the other recent contestant who twisted all the time? I would like to see both of them (and maybe a third twister, if they can find one!) on the panel at the same time, to see how long it takes for Ken to get dizzy.  On second thought, save that game for Mayim.

Elizabeth cracked me up with her continual shock and delight at getting answers right. That would be me, although not quite so vocally, I hope. But she had already won me over with her love of Drag Race. She may not be great at math, but we would be friends.

I just did a little googling. The list I found says Pompeii (or Archaeological Areas of Pompei, Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata, to be more specific) is a UNESCO site but not the volcano.

Humblebrag alert….I’m pretty miserably bad at nailing most Jeopardy questions but I was insanely proud of knowing the Woodrow Wilson FJ. I’d learned about Ellen Wilson’s death in both Women’s Studies classes in the 70s and nursing school (Bright’s Disease) in the 80’s. You could have heard me scream to Milwaukee.

I’m guessing this stands for “good for you”? Because I confess, the first thing that came to my mind begins with “go” and ends with “yourself”. Didn’t seem like that would be a common Alex phrase, but hey, who knows what he was muttering on commercial breaks.

"Good for You" was a very common phrase back in the Alex days.  I believe we could take a drink when all three contestants got a GFY for their stories.
