Also, why did she feel the need to point out that "the photographer is a bigger girl herself"? The photographer wasn't even that big but Whitney has to point out anyone else that isn't thin so she can feel better about herself.

That pissed me off.  That woman is not a big girl, she is a normal healthy weight.   Fatney would kill to look like her.

You're not alone. My friends in the village are saying it absolutely was and that they filmed that same scene twice in different locations.

Oh for sure, it was obviously not real.  They did something similar a few seasons back.  Remember that time someone called her "Shamu" out of a car window?  LOL  Most of us thought that wasn't real either.

I liked seeing all the ladies having fun. Of course, some asshole had to degrade them because they dared to laugh and move their bodies outside, instead of hiding in their homes like fat haters want them to do. Being fat in this world is not for the weak.

This. While I lean toward the asshole being a production device, the situation still highlighted how difficult it can be for heavy people. It's like Dani Mathers posting the photo of the woman at the gym--here are fat folks doing what thin folks preach that they should be doing, then they ridicule them for doing it. We need to learn that women own our bodies. We don't have to smile, be sweet or make different decisions just because other people think we should.

I very much enjoyed seeing the woman having fun, laughing and squealing on the bikes and in the pool, enjoying the dinner party and the meditation. Some of the bathing suits and active wear were really cute. It was very nice to see large women in bright colors and clothes with shape, not avoiding patterns and hiding their bodies under yards of dark fabric. I want Whitney's Baacal dress. I hate twerking, on people of any size, but they were having so much fun it was fun to watch them.

Glen needs to give that speech about not giving Whitney control of the family to Whitney, not the camera. TLC, the parent bullying and French man absurdity are annoying story lines. Do better.

The delusion is real. What 36 year old chatting online with someone that they never met all of a sudden tells a group of ladies she is "dating" ?  I have chatted several times with the handsome young cashier at the grocery store, and he even escorted me over to where I could find the adult diapers (was asking for a friend) and you don't see me telling all of you that we are now dating.

You don’t live in Whitney World!! 🤣🤣🤣

And the "fat cow" or whatever on the tour bus? You know, politely written on the banner, where it could be removed, and not on the bus itself? And the "fat leprechaun" at the parade?

Thanks! I'm bummed that Whitney got to go and I didn't. We didn't travel over the summer. Between my son's Hodgkin's Lymphoma and the pandemic we've pretty much stayed hermits.

For a woman who claims weight doesn't matter she certainly likes to point out other people's weight.

Maybe I'm biased, but Whitney was so slovenly compared to the other ladies at the retreat, who looked so put together and lovely.  Even at the dinner, Whitney looked the least put together out of the group.

I also noticed the other women actually picked up their feet when they walked, whereas Whitney just shuffles along doing her "Dr. Now can see you now" waddle.

Also, I found it extremely interesting that Rebecca didn't make the cut in the Avi season even though she and Whitney had communicated.

I'm going to go out on a limb and presume she wasn't included because she caught onto Avi's bullshit quite quickly and noped right out of that shit.  Couldn't have any woman being smarter than our Whitney on the show.

I'm still on my first cup of coffee this morning, so I hope this is at least partway coherent.  As always, everyone's comments are brilliant.

Honestly, this show is so fabulous that last week I totally forgot to watch it. This week, it was so fabulous that I fell asleep after the trauma of the water-twerking scene.

I thought I heard 'Kathy.'

Also, I cannot believe they're  going back to the Chase well next week.  I'm guessing this is so Whitney "learns a very special lesson about trust" when Chase tells her she needs to just go for it with "the French man."

I heard "Kathy," too.

My first thought?  Who the fuck is Kathy?  I don't ever recall hearing her mentioned before.

I can't believe Chase is still willing to associate himself with this bullshit.  That TLC check, however small, must be too good to pass up.

And poor Blur.  I show a lot more interest in this tasty glazed donut in front of me than he does in Whitney.

While the story line is nothing short of ludicrous, it surely makes for some extra tasty snark this season.

Could Todd have hyperthyroidism?  He doesn't look healthy.  It appears he's lost weight and gone downhill!

He did.  I wonder what's going on there.  I froze the frame and it looks like his hairline is receding, plus his face looks gaunter.

One thing that became obvious because of the swimsuits is that Ashley is significantly thinner than Whitney but she's still much larger than her claim of 225.  I might believe 250 even accounting for camera weight.

Ashley has definitely packed on the pounds, and her mother is falling and her back is going out.  Seems associating with Twit is hard on every "body."

37 going on 17. Now she's moaning about Avi. This show is all over the place. It's as if production doesn't know what to do with her. She is an embarrassment and so is this show.

C'mon Heather. You know this is a joke and your friend is delusional.

Todd looks really thin. The first thing I thought of was drugs but I don't think he would go there.

Ashley should not be allowed to do confessionals. She's boring.

Typical of Whit to make that nice dinner all about herself. Pouting over Avi. Those poor gals having to listen to her. My god, have some self respect, woman!

That sounds about right - I'll confess to being 230 and close to her size, although where she is flat-bottomed and big-stomached, I am fortunate enough to be the opposite.  And I'm probably a few inches taller than her.  But if I had to say my weight on tv I'd definitely shave off 15-20 lbs and blame "the cameras" 😄

Yeah I thought so until she said, "I'll just have to meet him in person as soon as possible so I don't invest any more time if he's not into me" - once again, this is not about a coffee date, but an overnight flight to another country!!  Insane 🤣

In the 10 years I've been there I've never heard of a fat person being heckled. Ever. My mom's 400lbs and gets out every day on the beach, paths, etc. She prefers it there because people are so friendly.

Absolutely shenanigans!!

Seriously, I think this battle of who gets control of Babs and Glenn was planned as a major story line for this season. No doubt Whitney thought it would make her look thoughtful, yet cute, and Babs and Glenn agreed without actually having a realistic idea of how far she would go.

Well first Whit would have to do the work of finding, calling and scheduling the painters.  I guess their money's on "she'll be too lazy to actually do anything"! 😄

You know what I was thinking last night?  If I ever happened to drive by Whitney and company and realize it on time, I'd kind of like to yell something like that out the window - not just to see if I could make it onto her show, but also to see if they were all shocked because someone who WASN'T paid to heckle them had driven by! 😈

Yeah, I’m thinking the host is wishing she hadn’t comp’d Whitney and Ashley’s retreat fee after that bait and switch. (I know, I know, TLC paid for everything and the host got her business promoted.)

I'm slogging my way through the episode and have not read all the comments, but I'm glad to see from the ones I have read that I'm not losing my mind or thinking there's some kind of subtle communication going on that I'm missing.  She is either just plain nuts if she truly believes this guy is interested in her or that they've had all these dates, or she's an excellent actor who's totally missed her calling.

I go back to thinking about how this all started, the wonder of a truly fat and ungainly woman joyfully dancing, violating societal norms that dictate that only svelte people get to do that in public.  I think a maybe two-part special about Whitney and the Big Girl Dance Class would have been delightful and eye-opening.  As it is, this show is a travesty and does enormous disservice to women who are big and working on living truly fabulous lives, showing how they do not allow what other people think of them to limit what they do.  Whitney is so desperate to be something she is not that it is soul-deadening.

Both Whitney (and the barnacles) and TLC are so thirsty for our attention and dollars that they are not going to stop this unless they are forced to, which means we stop watching, but we can't.  I want to see something happen, knowing full well nothing is going to happen except another glamorous trip (we're already being set up for Maine) or god forbid a serious injury to one of her parents.

I want to stop watching, but unless I know *everyone* is quitting, I have to keep watching in case something happens.  Fat chance.

I figure TLC has convinced him that what happened last season was somehow a breach of contract and told him if he makes a couple of cameos they won't pursue it or it is in his contract in some other way. I assume the original plan was to have the breakup be Whitney's doing so it's possible his contract committed him to a couple of small showings in the following season as they "moved on". Whatever the reason, I doubt it was something he was looking to do. He's showing photos of his girlfriend now on SM which is something he wouldn't do while he was front and center in the show. So I don't think he's pursuing more activity on this crap train.

I'm about 15 years younger that Babs and Glen and I'm terrified of stairs! I don't understand why they are being so stubborn about it. That must be one hell of a master suite and bathroom they have up there! They said something about the bathroom downstairs being too small. I get that but it seems they have enough money to be able to remodel the bathroom to make it more appealing to them. They really should give up the stairs. One more fall (they have already had a few, right?)  and it could kill one of them or they could break hips, legs, shoulders, arms...etc. Ya'll get the picture. 🙂

I'm only a few years younger than Babs, and honestly,  I gave up stairs 30 years ago. Downsized from 2800 Sq ft 2-story to an 1800 square ft ranch. Of course I did it because I had a black cat who liked to sleep on the stairs.  Black cat + night + dark stairs  = something broken 😄

God - Twit is such an attention whore/drama queen, narcissistic a**hole. Way to make the retreat all about her and her imagined international romance. Also way to make that other woman (Rebecca?) feel like an a** for sharing her Avi story. Walking sullenly down the beach to plop in the tide like a morbidly obese toddler to wah wah wah about some dumb catfishing fat fetishist. Then to get the entire table of women to listen to her pity party about French-fish. She’s just the worst. Oh - and I’ll be Petty Betty here -but no amount of lip filler will distract from her enormous cottage cheese thighs. She looks fatter this season than last. On par with the Hawaii meltdown. I just can’t stand this chick. Yet I will continue to hate watch. 😀

Whitney cannot believe 'the Frenchman' might be or might not be a list of contradictory things, and it's exhausting to hear her go through her insecurities about 'the Frenchman' and then equally strong feelings that 'the Frenchman' is really her new boyfriend and she should have nothing to worry about.  The source of all this doubt may have been last week's call to 'the Frenchman,' but damn that girl on the retreat who brought Avi up.  (Whitney forgot about this girl from her Facebook thread, and I'm following suit and blanking on her name.)  Whitney, dear, if you constantly have to refer to someone you are in a relationship with, or at least talking to for 6 months, as 'the Frenchman,' I think you are absolutely right to think you are on the path to getting your heart broken.  I mean, it's gonna happen even if his name is Pierre or Franz, or let's say it's a strong possibility.  But if you have to call him 'the Frenchman' all the time, yeah, ain't no doubt about it, he's gonna for sure break your heart.  It's textbook Heartbreak 101, Whitney.

The Fat Girls Retreat has officially been hijacked and is now Whitney's Pity Party.

Mercifully, no Hunter this week.  Thank you, Lord!  But still Heather with that purple hair.  Is she going through early menopause, or just trying this new hairstyle and color out for way longer than any reasonable human being would come to the conclusion, 'not for me'?

Spin that damn weird dog of Whitney's off into his own show please, and get him off my screen.  How is it possible that even the animals on this show are as cringe-worthy as (most of) the humans?

Why doesn't Whit's dog like Todd? I worry about that pretty poodle.

Yes, BichonBlitz!  That sweet Poodle (this episode is the first time I realized that her name is Goose?!), is a total mystery to me.  From her sudden entry onto the show last year, I keep trying to figure out her 'story.'  At first, I was concerned that she was an emotionally wounded dog from a Rescue Shelter.  Then, I wondered if she was somewhere "on the spectrum" -- had genuine issues with making contact with others. Then, I mulled over the possibility that Goose could be an Emotional Support dog, selected to help Whitney get through her panic attacks.

Goose, for sure, looks like a pup who is there for a reason -- her attention to Whitney (and ONLY Whitney) DOES seem to indicate that she is not your "typical pet poodle."  (That said, if she is a special rescue dog adopted by Whitney, then "You go, girl!")  I'm just a tad mystified that Goose was never "formally" introduced to the show like all of Whit's kute lil kitties.  ???

Having spent a lot of wonderful years with dogs -- and also researching dog psychology -- I am admittedly mystified by "how Goose fits into Whitney's life." 🐩

Isn't that like their turtle or something? I think I remember from one of the earlier episodes when Glenn was listing all the animals they had and "Cappy" sounds familiar

I have a feeling that one reason they're so resistant to Whitney's "gift" of a "whole new bedroom" is that they know what she means by that--that she will decorate the downstairs bedroom so it's like new.  I'm sure Babs and Glenn could hire someone to paint the room; I'm also sure that since they've seen Whitney's newly decorated house they have a pretty good idea of what Whitney wants to do to their room.  Whitney would not be doing any actual painting or making new curtains.  It would just be a matter of hiring someone to do those things *if* Babs and Glenn wanted them done, and they would be sure to have paint etc to their taste, not Whitney's.

If the downstairs bedroom is large enough for them to get around in, if the only objection is that it's not pretty, there's really no reason for them to not like it.

Whitney worries about them on the stairs, and I would too.  Babs and Glenn need to have a real reason to want to avoid the stairs (and the more Whitney pushes them, the less likely they are to agree to it).  It seems to me that a big problem might be the bathroom.  Do they have a combination tub/shower?  A large walk-in shower, with a seat, is probably what they need.  If Babs must have a tub, there are walk-in tubs that you sit in, and there are probably other tubs that are safer to enter/exit.  They should have grab-bars all over the place whether they move downstairs or not, especially at the top of the stairs.

Whitney needs to talk to their doctor and ask for a referral to a physical therapist, who could give her lots of recommendations on how to make her parents' house safer while letting them be as independent as possible.

Why doesn't Whit's dog like Todd? I worry about that pretty poodle.

I don't think it dislikes him - he just said it wouldn't come inside for him. Maybe the dog just likes being outside? Or is timid around strangers (a couple of my dogs are like that). My pit mix (God rest his beautiful soul) loved to be outside. I'd let him outside in the morning and be running late, so I'd call him. He'd look at me. I'd call him again. He'd sit. I'd call him again and he would lie down. I'd call him again, and he would roll on his back and wriggle around. He would only come in when I came in the yard and reached for his collar. He just really liked outside.

I don't think her name actually is Goose even though that's what people were calling her last night. They told us her name last season and I can't remember it but it wasn't Goose. I think Goose is a nickname. They talked about the dog a few times last season but they didn't say where she came from or how Whitney came to adopt her. I assumed she was a rescue dog because she was full grown when Whitney got her and I don't think it's common to be able to buy an adult dog, especially a purebred poodle (though I don't know if the dog is actually a purebred poodle or that's just the most visible breed in the mix).

Honestly, I don't think there is anything wrong with that dog other than that she is a bit timid. That happens with a lot of rescue dogs, especially if they have been abused/neglected or spent time in a shelter. Even dogs without a traumatic past, who just haven't had a lot of experiences can lack confidence and be shy.

I used to think that was the greatest idea ever until someone pointed out to me that you have to sit in it until it drains before you can get out. When my time comes for that, I'm going with a chair in the shower.

Eh - I can see their point. The existing master is their bedroom and has been their bedroom for however many years - a long time. They have history in that room. Moving downstairs isn't just about the room; it's really about accepting that they are getting older and they have limitations. Even if the room downstairs is exactly the same, it's not the same.

My mom is older and she lives in a home with stairs and no full bath on the main level. I spent a long time trying to talk her into downsizing until someone said to me (kindly, but directly) "your mom is an adult. She knows that she could fall down the stairs and break a hip and lay there for a few days until someone found her. She knows the risks and she is an adult of sound mind and she is choosing that risk." And I realized that, as much as I dread that possibility, I have to respect that. I totally understand Whitney's fears. I think she loves her parents and I think they do have risks to their safety that they minimize. But they are fundamentally of sound mind. If they want to live more safely in their existing home, they can make the decision to make some accommodations. If they want to continue at the current level of risk, that also is their choice. Whitney then needs to figure out how she will live with the stress of worrying about aging parents. That's her role, not forcing home renovations on capable adults who don't want them.

I think the dog’s name is Neeshi, I can only imagine all the nonsense and shenanigans that dog has seen during the past year.  I just took the dog would not listen to Todd rather than disliked him. Although I did appreciate the little half bark she gave.  That’s the only time I saw the dog give any kind of reaction.

As far as the upstairs/downstairs debate.  I think there is some concern/bossiness about it by Whitney, but I also think some of it is being used to fill a very boring season.  The barnacles besides Ashley seem to be missing in action more than normal and they dare not put multiple mind-numbing conversations with Blur in one episode.  Whitney also should realize as much as she worries about her parents falling, they probably worry twice as much about her having a heart attack, stroke, etc., but she doesn’t modify her behavior to ease their worries.

Oh for sure, it was obviously not real.  They did something similar a few seasons back.  Remember that time someone called her "Shamu" out of a car window?  LOL  Most of us thought that wasn't real either.

And the "fat leprechaun" comment at the St. Pat's Day parade where she jumped out of her mobility scooter to twerk.  They've pulled out this tired old bullying trick a FEW times already!

"Fatney," LOL.

I'm sorry but I'm going to vehemently disagree here. Whitney has neither the right nor any business talking to her parents doctors. They are fully functioning adults. Whitney doesn't have the right to get info from their doctors or to request referrals or treatment for her parents. She continues to treat them like they are non-functional. They aren't bed-ridden. They haven't been declared incompetent to make their own care decisions. Whitney needs to take care of herself and show her parents some respect.

Fell asleep last pm with 20 minutes left. Now finishing up. What the hell? "The French Man" has treated me so well." She is delusional. In the words of Judge Judy- there is something wrong with her. Agree with above posters.  Make a show with any one or more of these women at the retreat. Rebecca would be awesome. She smart and communicates well. I bet she doesn't have a group of barnacles either- she prob has friends that are accomplished. We all know Le Blur is a PLOT DEVICE! Get over it TLC.

ETA- here's a better way:

Whitney- "mom and dad- I'm concerned about the steps at your house. Can we talk about some possible ideas? I love you and want you to stay healthy."

They might say yes, they may say no, but you've started a dialog respectfully and with love. That's all you can do.
