proserpina65 June 7, 2022 Share June 7, 2022 So I only ran 2 categories last night (Sound Up and Anthropology) but didn't miss more than one clue in the rest. My TS gets were Jill Biden, Samuel Johnson, bray, chez, midden and psychology, although I didn't say clinical psychology so I'm not sure it that one would've counted. If I'd been paying attention and heard the entire clue, I might've gotten Celeste Ng, but the picture meant nothing to me. And I did the same thing Stephanie did with the Wuthering Heights clue, said the wrong Bronte. I tend to have trouble remembering which one wrote it and which one wrote Jane Eyre. I should've guessed Berlin for that D-Day clue, but "oddly" didn't resonate enough with me, maybe if it had said "ironically" instead? I got FJ but it was a wild-ass guess based on the constellation Gemini. I would've bet everything on Greek Mythology. I even said aloud that it would probably be the one thing from Greek mythology that I didn't know, and it kinda was. I'm familiar with story of Jason and the Golden Fleece but couldn't have named any other Argonauts. Or, at least, I didn't think I could until I took that wild guess. I'm sorry to see Ryan go, but he had a good run and I'm glad that he won a lot of money. It seemed like he gotten beaten on the buzzer a lot last night. I’ve had a feeling, for a good while now, that the announcement that she would host only primetime specials went out the window the as dust settled after MR was shown the door. I figure that at that point, maybe MB and KJ saw openings to assert their actual more “perfect scenarios” for host scheduling. I don’t seek out insider news on the matter, though. I recall reading (somewhere I thought was credible, although I can't tell you where) that Ken was given an advance on his winnings. I don't know whether they'd consider that for a shorter run, whether it was offered or had to be requested, etc. But I would like to think the staff would be proactive. The show will fly you back if you're a returning champion (not sure about lodgings) but of course he would been without his regular earnings anyway. So in a way he may be breathing a sigh of relief. While the show doesn't pay for the initial travel expenses, if you are a returning champ, the flight at least is taken care of by Jeopardy!. So fortunately, Ryan's first flight should have been the only one that he had to pay for out of pocket. For the TOC, all travel/lodging is provided by the show. During Ken's (regular season) run, as I understand it, this was *not* the policy and that is what precipitated his receiving an advance. 5 Link to comment

Bastet June 8, 2022 Share June 8, 2022 Eric ran away with it in DJ; impressive follow-up performance. I'm bummed Dear White People was a TS (I haven't watched the series yet, but it's on my list because I liked the film). And, since I hardly text, period, and use actual words when I do, I figure if I can decipher textspeak anyone can, so their poor performance in that category surprised me a bit, especially "Long Time No See". If it wasn't for the writers category, I'd have only missed one in the entire first round, but I missed two in that one. Still quite good! In DJ, I only ran adjectives (I'd have also ran the actors category if only "Who is whoever played Private Ryan?" counted; I know that movie exists, but can't tell you who's in it), but I did well, getting all but one in two categories and missing two each in the rest (impressive in the case of the mythology category).
