$95 for a bouquet of fake flowers is crazy but on the other hand, it would make a nice gift to Michael's mother, a token for her to remember the day.

she's getting real roses and I doubt if she'd give it to Michael's mother because it's supposed to represent Angela's family being there in spirit. She also won't throw it at the reception because no Single Ladies will be allowed!

I fear that Pole would do whatever he needed to get a ticket to Brazil and make sure that Karine is never seen again.  Then he'd return to the states with Pierre.

Maybe it's just hope, but I think Paul is kinda too lazy for all that.

Burning down a local house and stalking local girls ...fine

But I'd hope that after a while, it would be out of sight, out of mind with Pierre and karine.

I also think that Paul is very unlikely to stand up to another man and I find it doubtful that he would do anything with karines dad and brother around.

Paul will just get on social media, claim he is a victim and look for another sucker desperate for 15 minutes of TLC fame.

I didn’t know Karine could work as a permanent resident. Her English isn’t great but can’t she get a job if Paul is that unemployable? Couldn’t she stock shelves or pump gas or work in a Brazilian restaurant or something? She is so unhappy and it’s actually quite unnerving seeing her like this. Paul and Karine’s translator app is far superior to Deavan’s.

I’ve never seen anyone more browbeaten than Michael. It’s like his soul has left his body. I could feel his palpable anxiety when that lady started shaking her buttocks and he stole a glance. I guess Michael only got enough Viagra for one session of sex. Man, Angela yelling about Michael while he was in the front seat was just the height of rudeness. I don’t expect much from her but she seems to really enjoy humiliating him more than ever. His demeanor is like that of a beaten dog and he seems more and more cowed every episode.

Colt and Jess seemed like they were barely containing their smiles. I did enjoy his flirtation with his mother, who he seemed to have more chemistry with than his girlfriend.

Ha ha, Jen absolutely thought japan and China were the same place.

Ooops, I missed this part. I'll bet she makes the lucky catcher give it back or it's a throwaway bouquet like many places provide. I still doubt if many single women will be allowed to attend unless they are related to Michael.

Libby and Andrei:

Chuck, Charlie, and Jenn need to shut their mouths, hop on a flight to FL, and crawl back into whatever holes they live in.

It's not that Andrei's friend refused to answer their questions; they just didn't get the answers they wanted.

Here's a clue: there are corrupt officers employed by every police force worldwide - even in the United States! (I'm not claiming all police forces are corrupt). In some countries, the corruption is endemic. Moldova is one of those countries.

But Family Libby is so intent on demonizing Andrei, they cannot conceive of or believe Andrei might have left his home and his family to escape corruption, rather than participate in it or become a victim of it.

That's says everything we need to know about Libby's family.

Angela and Michael:

First, to @Mrs. Hanson

It was the florist shop owner who really drove home the point it was Angela's first marriage; Angela was honest she had been married before:

The shop owner asked "Is this your first marriage?"

Angela replied "No. It's my second but I haven't been married for over 30...so it's my first marriage to me..."

The shop owner cut her off, saying "This is your first...this is your first marriage and it's so special it's worth it to spend a bit of..a bit more money."

On to other matters:

Angela needs to put to rest the B.S. that she's not going to be submissive and she and Michael are going to be "equal". Equality requires compromise.

When has Angela ever deferred to what Michael wants when they've disagreed?

NEVER.

Every disagreement we've seen has been settled "Angela's way or the highway." If Michael hasn't immediately deferred to Angela, Angela has screamed at him, insulted him, and threatened not to marry him.

What, exactly, is "50/50" about that?

Kalani and Asuelu:

I disagree with everyone who thinks Asuelu is "slow" or developmentally delayed. IMO, what's we've seen can be attributed to language, and cultural differences.

With the current issue with Asuelu's family, I rely on one of the most important marriage rules; each spouse is responsible for handling their own family.

Asuelu went alone to talk to his family, explained no more money was forthcoming, and why. They wouldn't take "No" for an answer, so he left; exactly what he should have done.

Then we see it brought up again in the scene with the goats. Asuelu handled that, too.

So why did Kalani feel the need to see Asuelu's mother and sister again, and without Asuelu?

I mean, what was she expecting? Did she think they'd say "You know what, Asuelu only told us this twice, and we didn't believe him. But now that you've made a special trip to see us and tell us 'No' a third time, it's finally sunk in and we not only believe you're not going to give us money, but agree with why you shouldn't! Thanks for dropping by; we finally see the light!"

And then, Kalani goes back to the hotel to relay to Asuelu what happened, and breaks another rule of marriage; don't insult your spouse's family. It's okay to agree with your spouse if they insult their own family, but never, never, initiate an insult.

Kalani put Asuelu in the position of feeling like he should defend his family (which is exactly how Kalani would feel if Asuelu said to her "Your family are all assholes").

If Kalani had just told him what happened, and left out the editorializing, it would have been fine (although even then, she should not have gone in the first place).

Then, Kalani broke a third marriage rule: involving Kolini in their marriage.

And yet, despite everything that Kalani did to get them to this point, she has quite a nerve saying:

"I want to give him a chance to go to therapy to kinda see if we can fix his behavior."

HIS behavior!

And, who's the "we"?

Does she assume the "we" is herself and the therapist?

As if it's not bad enough Asuelu has nobody in his corner; not his wife, not his family, nor any close friends he can talk to, let alone advocate for him.

So now Kalani's plan is to unite with a professional, who will take her side, and they'll double team against Asuelu and "fix" him.

Good luck with that, Kalani. Hopefully Asuelu will find his voice and the therapist will uncover the truth of what Kalani has done to exacerbate these problems - and set her straight, too.

Oh, I so want to see Lo, Kolini, and Kalani taken down a few pegs: Lo, for threatening Asuelu with physical violence; Kolini for sticking her nose into a relationship that's none of her damn business, and Kalani for treating Asuelu like a dog needing to be trained instead of a human being deserving of respect.

And she does treat him like a dog; when they have disagreements, Kalani backs Asuelu into a corner and then gets Kolini or her family to back her up. Then Asuelu has only two choices; either retreat (which makes him appear weak, and she later insults him for that and calls him a child) or he fights back, and then she talks about ending the marriage.

She's horrible.

OMG, I thought the same thing.  I was seriously thinking he was threatening her with, "I will leave you here and no one will find you if you try to leave me."

I was confused too.  Didn't she say something out changing their flight or something and sister went back as scheduled?  If their days in the rental (which was supposedly haunted) were up, then that would make sense as to why she had to get a hotel.

I got the impression her Airbnb was supposed to end the night of her flight.  Kolini took the pre-planned flight home.

I think kalani got a hotel and postponed her flight home because rebellious teen asuslo went to stay with his sister.

I will never understand why kalani did this.  He isn't wandering the city, he is safe.  Leave him in Portland and let his sister take care of that halfwit.

Maybe she was afraid that aseulo wouldn't be able to remember his home address or something...

She's horrible.

There was a guy from Samoa on project runway and he was far far far sharper than asuelo so I don't think it's language and culture.

My country of origin, just like any other just has some people who are dimwitted and slow...just like Samoa and just like America and just like every other country on the face of the earth.  There is nothing about the Samoan culture that inherently makes people come off slow.

We have been introduced to many participants and family members who speak a different language and come from a culture that values a more simple way of life or where education isn't as valuable.

Not a single one of them have come off as dim witted and slow as asuelu.

I do agree though that it was a bad idea for kalani to meet with aseulus family alone.  It seems like she ran it by him and he was okay with it, but still.  He told them no more money, together they said no more money and it's pretty clear that kalani's in charge of the money so there won't be any more money.  She didn't need to meet with them again to explain it because his family doesn't care and it won't change anything.

Other than production pushing her, the meeting ONLY makes sense if kalani went there with the intention of saving aseulus relationship with his mother by painting herself as the bad guy and asuelu as the powerless victim.

Her saying things like "I'm in control" or something like that made me kinda think that maybe thats what she was trying to do.

Pole's constant harassment

He did something that drives me nuts.  In trying to calm and reassure her, he kept telling her that he loved her.  Well, hell, that isn't the problem and frankly right then she couldn't care less about how you feel about her.  That isn't the fucking problem.  At that moment, when she was in despair over her life, whether he loved her or not was about the most irrelevant factor you could think of.  If he really wanted to help her feel better, he needed to say, "I'm going out now to look for a job.  I'm sure I could get at least a few hours working at a fast food place, and that will leave me time to look for full-time work."  She is panicked, Pole and she is not looking for assurances of your love--especially not *your* love--and you flatter yourself if you think that's helping.

Go get a damn job.

There is just no couple left to root for.  I think I’ll stick to watching Pillow Talk to get the gist without having to watch the actual show.

Exactly right.  I don't care about any of them.  But:  It's sorta fun to watch Family Libby overdo their hicks on a mission acting job, and her brother's haircut and perpetual sweaty face do fascinate me.  The women in that family seem to be trying for a cultured, old-money look, while Junior is still trying to remember not to eat his boogers.

Kalani, as she often does, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when she decided that Asuelu's response to her recounting the confrontation with his mother and sister was a betrayal.  He was all Team Kalani, and she's too fucking determined to be the injured party to recognize that he's on her side--or he was.  Poor Asuelu.  He asked for a trip back home.  Instead he had to leave town for his son's birthday party, attended solely by Family Kalani, and when he finally gets to spend some time with his family members, Kalani has to drag along her disapproving sister, so when he's not actually with his family, he's back in the pit he was trying to claw his way out of, if only temporarily.

Coltee is still sending dick pics?  I have never understood.  Men apparently think women are turned on by pictures of men's genitals.  We aren't, fellows, unless they're engaged in some sort of action (and I'm not talking about masturbation.  I'm talking about pornography).  Why the hell do they do it?

My eyes are still rolling at Larissa's assertion that it's her imperfect boobs that are interfering with Ericee's interest in having lots of sex with her.  Wait till he sees those new massive tits.  He won't be able to keep his hands off her.

I do have new respect for Angela and her boob-toting abilities.  I resisted having a cell phone, but now with doctors' offices telling you to call in from the parking lot when you arrive for an appointment, I had to get one.  If I'm not carrying a purse, which I often am not, and my pants are pocketless, as they often are, my bra is a handy place to keep my phone.  Thanks for the tip, Angela!

Absolutely 100% agree with your assessment of Kalani.

And regarding the dick pics; also agree. I got into a very heated debate online with a guy who insisted women are not turned on visually because there's not much of a market for magazines for women with photos of men's genitalia.

I told him women are definitely visually stimulated; but what most women are stimulated by - butts, abs, chests, and arms - are body parts we can see at any pool or beach.

Unlike men, women don't have to pay to see what we're attracted to.

And then I twisted the knife and asked "Do you really think the dangley bits are attractive? LOL! It's what you do with it that counts!"

IDK what kind of phone you have, but there may be a bra alternative for "toting" it without a purse. I have one of these (except mine is black):Screenshot_20200831-160121.png.036711e91d84120243a09e49d73e402a.pngScreenshot_20200831-160019.thumb.png.263889ecfe3cb44e3486d0e724af8a04.png

The wristlet approximately the same length/width as my phone. It comes with a detachable wrist strap, has slots for CC's and ID and a zipper pocket for a few bills and coins. It also comes with a case for the phone that's magnetized and attaches the phone to the wristlet.

I've dropped my phone multiple times with just the magnetized case on it and the phone hasn't been damaged, and I've also dropped the wristlet with the phone in it and the magnet has held the phone in the purse.

Perhaps something like it, if there is one available for your model phone, might work?

My boobies aren't big enough to require a bra that will accommodate my phone, and the wristlet was less expensive than a visit to Dr. Smith. 😉

With Pole's criminal record, and convictions, he's not getting a job with a lot of employers.   He's not going to get bonded, so retail is out, with his stalking history, he's a walking example of a sexual harasser.    With the arson conviction, no one is going to hire him either.

Straight men must like looking at female genitalia because it is forbidden fruit.  Because it certainly is no more attractive (and one could argue less) than the male counterpart.

Aren't there state programs that help people with criminal pasts get jobs?

I mean we are not talking like Pole will get a bank president job but I do find it hard to believe that there are no businesses that have programs that help ex-cons gain employment, what about being a stock person at Walmart or a fry cook at McDonalds?

If he values his relationship with his wife, child and mother he should make it his job to get a job. What really is his problem?

No one is going to hire a man with a history of stalking, and threatening women the way Pole does.    Any complaint by another employee would be a slam dunk for an attorney against the employer, and Pole, because he has a repeated history of threatening women.    I bet he's not the employee anyone dreams of having around either.

There is just no couple left to root for.  I think I’ll stick to watching Pillow Talk to get the gist without having to watch the actual show.

After this episode, I'm right there with you. I know this season has been fakery for most of the stories, but the final straw for me was the scene with Vanessa and Colt, where he's telling her he's off to pick up Jess, and he barely contains laughter while Vanessa can't even hide her laughter as she turns away. Even the bad actors are laughing at the ridiculous story line they're supposed to deliver.

LOVE all your Seinfeld references! I swear something happens to me everyday that I can relate back to Seinfeld. Even after all these years off the air.

Art imitates life or visa versa?  It is funny how that show relates to my life too!

My mother used to think Erma Bombeck hid our coat closet and listened to our family to get material for her column.

Maybe post-pandemic he can tear tickets at the movie theater.

Added bonus.  She is old enough that no condom would be required.

To be honest, we buy our wine at Costco (or Sam's), and I have NO problem with people who want to buy boxed wine.  I've heard that some of it is pretty good.

But . . .

In spite of coming from lower blue-collar backgrounds, Mr. AZC and I have been to Europe four times and have tried to be NON-ugly Americans.   We've seen some ugly Americans in action first-hand, and are surprised at how differently we have been treated by the French and English when we treat them politely by recognizing and respecting their different way of life (currency, etc.).

You can develop class and good manners - IF you want to.  But step one is to recognize when you don't have either . . . like the entire Potthast clan.

We were in Paris a few years ago eating in an upscale restaurant. I always give my HS french a try and can manage pretty well with a menu in french. Plus most everyone speaks English. The party next to us got all angry at the waiter because the menu wasn't in English.

I have never understood.  Men apparently think women are turned on by pictures of men's genitals.  We aren't, fellows, unless they're engaged in some sort of action (and I'm not talking about masturbation.  I'm talking about pornography).  Why the hell do they do it?

One of life's great mysteries

I wonder if Kalani checked into the same hotel where Asuelu stayed after he went missing on the bus ride

Funny but that was in Orange County.

oh, you're right. How could I forget! This is disastrous trip # 2 the Asuelu and Kalani took this season, this one in lieu of going to Samoa.

Because I record this show I am actually able to fast-forward through quite a bit of it as 1) I'm not interested in Larissa, her make-believe relationship with George Glass Eric, or the ongoing saga about more plastic surgery, 2) I don't need to watch Angela intentionally demean Michael, 3) I can't stand watching Family Libby and their sense of superior entitlement which makes absolutely no sense as THEY are the ones who have been arrested for multiple crimes [not sure about convictions though], and 4) I am so over Kalani making herself a perpetual victim when she was talking smack about Asuelo to her sister and then blamed him for the fight as well as the fact that she chose to have a sexual relationship with him while on vacation and then thought it would be an excellent idea to marry him and have two children with him.

However, I did watch enough to absolutely LOVE watching Father Andrei, Eleanor, and the baby donkey.

I actually really enjoyed watching everyone have fun at the old Moldovian Village, but then, of course, Family Libby had to just hold on to all of their perceived hurts and grudges and ruin the light heartedness of the visit (they did this after the fact, but it still ruined the fun memories).

I really felt concern for Karine during her scenes.  It almost seemed like Paul looked at the cameras and changed his reaction to be more "loving" than how he really wanted to act.  NEVER force someone to accept hugs and kisses when that person clearly and repeatedly said to stop.  And, he went right to "I'll prosecute..." only to intimidate Karine to stay and not take Pierre anywhere.  I also wondered if he really had any rights in Brazil (I know he does in the U.S. but don't really know about Brazil).  For someone who cries "victim" about his own arrests and convictions he certainly went to "prosecute" pretty quickly.  My fear for Karine is when the cameras are gone (like an above poster) and the contract with TLC is over.  I hope the contract is over, but the producers may have been the only people that same Karine fairly consistently).  There were two times that Mother Paul showed up thinking she would see Paul, Karine, and Pierre only to be told by Paul that Karine and Pierre wouldn't be there (after Mother Paul showed up to the meeting place), so I think Paul has isolated Karine away from his mother as well as other people.  I also wonder if he threatens her with the dogs in some way.

Can you get implants shaped like phalluses?

Dr. Smith DID mention they came in "different profiles," so maybe so. Speaking of phalluses, (phalli?) am I the only one who didn't realize Michael and the new Goofballs' bachelor party headwear was glittered penis shapes? I thought they were some kind of "stag" antlers until Angela identified them for me.

If he really wanted to help her feel better, he needed to say, "I'm going out now to look for a job.  I'm sure I could get at least a few hours working at a fast food place, and that will leave me time to look for full-time work."

After working for MANY years on the defense side of the criminal justice system I will say categorically and unequivocally that the chances of pole finding employment with a "traditional" employer after being convicted of a 2nd degree arson charge (felony with prior offenses) is slim to none.  He probably served a term of parole after his prison stint so there are counselors there who would possibly help him get employment; however, he chose to go to Brazil, hook up with Karine and have a child, all the while KNOWING (or should have known) that his job prospects were really not compatible with starting a family with her and then having a baby.

He was eligible for a temporary visa to visit Brazil for up to 90 days.  If he chose to stay longer, he would have had to provide the consulate with a lot of documentation (translated into Portuguese) of his criminal charges and the fact that he has served his sentence and is not on community supervision.

It would be different if someone in pole's family (or close friend) had a business and was willing to employ him.  However, I don't see that as being the case.

To continue to lead her on or even convince himself that there is employment out there for him, is very disgraceful and the thought of Karine and the baby continuing to live in such squalid circumstances is unacceptable.

If Karine wants to take the baby back to her family in Brazil, good luck to pole in pursuing any legal remedy against her move.  Her defense would certainly be that he never divulged his criminal history to her until it was too late and the fact that he cannot financially support her and their child.  She said she would give him visiting rights and would make sure he maintains contact with Pierre.  It would be best for all concerned for Karine to rejoin her family in Brazil.

I fear that Pole would do whatever he needed to get a ticket to Brazil and make sure that Karine is never seen again.  Then he'd return to the states with Pierre.

For him to get to Karine there he'd have to fly to Brazil and take a 4-day cruise up the Amazon to a town in which Karine's father worked in law enforcement. My guess is that someone would be calling Father Karine before that boat got very far down the river and that Paul would be met by a welcoming committee when it docked. IMO her chances at safety are far greater there than they are here.

Funny how she is mooching for money to pay for all this but not a dime for her kids.  You know, the ones back in Brazil that she doesn't even mention anymore.  Does she plan on ever seeing them again?  I guess not.

We've had quite a bit of updated discussions about the Karine/Paul situation on the couple's thread. But yeah, that was unsettling. I said in the live chat that he seemed equally upset that she knew how to arrange an Uber. The idea of her exerting independence probably upsets him.

I think a lot of people get caught up in the "well, Karine has problems too" argument, but you don't have to like a person to feel nervous about their safety.

Why do I have an image of Charlie and Chuck sitting outside in an unmarked car, using binoculars, drinking coffee, waiting for Andrei to leave the house so they can follow him?  After the lovely afternoon winemaking:  "All that good will won't make up for what happened at dinner."  Jackasses.  The baby donkey was cute!

Because he's in Vegas and it wouldn't surprise me if the majority of his clients didn't ask for the same thing or something similar. Even in my small, isolated area the plastic surgeons probably see people every day who ask for blow-up doll attributes. Or maybe not that extreme, but they're still not getting it because they need it. Lots of people, like me, go to plastic surgeons because of genuine health issues, but in general plastic surgery is usually considered elective surgery. It's not necessary, which is why a lot of insurance companies won't pay for it. A good number of the patients who get it done do it for the same reason Larissa wants it-to feel good about themselves.
