Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

If the writers want to keep Sasha in the kitchen, they need to move her to a restaurant or a startup for some kind of specialty food. (Not relish!)

Bobbie's would be a decent place, as it's a set that already exists and it's an easy place to put a lot of people for interaction.

I don't see how Heather's crimes and the vacating of the sentence is all about Trina.

Portia doesn't care about anyone else but Trina.

Diane walking in on the moment between Robert and Anna would have been gold.

I've been off the barge for a few years (tuning back in now to see ES and JJ) but I must confess I've never liked Diane.  The Smug is just too strong with that one.  Not Carly-level, but still bad.  Is it odd that Diane reads as "older" than ES and FH who are, in real life, older than she is?

It's less about that for me, as a ONS with Robert while gross and character-assassinating could've happened.

Nope.Nope.Nope. Robert isn't a cheater and I REFUSE to believe that he would cheat on Anna. When would this one night stand have happened? Never mind, I don't care, because IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Same excuse used for Teethan. But then, OH NOES! We wuz gonna DIE! So Luke and Holly fucked, at a time when Luke and Laura were offscreen and happily married and raising Lucky. But Holly kept blathering on how Luke was "the love of her life!"

Gee, sound familiar? She used the SAME line for never seen or heard before husband who died when she was holding the vaccine for the Monkey Virus when Robert showed up alive.

And now Robert is the love of her life, so that's why she lied to him. Get the FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT NOISE.

15 hours ago, jsbt said:

It's that Holly (like Dominique re: Cody) was onscreen during the entire timeframe, was heavy in frontburner action-packed story and romance for the better part of two years after Robert exited and during that time she was never, ever pregnant.

THIS.

Frank and his minions are just bound and determined to ruin every character he didn't have a hand in creating or who has history with this show.

See: Anna and Jagger, and now Holly.

Jane Eliot is an amazing actress.  She elevates every scene she is in.

The more I see of Holly, the less I like her.  And making Cody/Sasha cousins is just....shoddy writing to break them up so that the writers can pair them with others.  A Nulu/Dante/Cody triangle, Sasha/Isiah/Lucky triangle or something silly like that.

You're forgetting Sasha being available to console Micheal after his nasty uncle and Wife start fucking after Willow being there to console Uncle Drew once Sam Dies. 🤢🤮

Whyyy does Sonny have a dead animal mounted in his office? Ewwww. He's not a hunter!

Heather kissing Ric on the lips in her excitement was super cringe.

The scenes of Grandma Alexis w/Sam's kids, Rocco w/Lulu's hand and Laura in tears in the background, and Alexis and Sam with the two kids were very sweet. The emotional episode got to me. The real tears from multiple actors in that last family scene (- K&M, + Sonny) were so sad. Kelly Monaco looked like she was trying not to ugly cry. Then the final tearful look between Sam and Jason (more KeMo and SB feeling emotional) and Sam and her kids saying their last ILYs to each other.  I'm glad Laura got to tearfully thank Sam.

Scott Reeves gets to come back for a day just for Curtis to say to Steven Lars (whom he's never met!) "take your mother with you when you leave." WTF?! Ugh. He thinks he can declare/demand that Steven is responsible for Heather?! And Ric suggesting he can move in too for "safety's sake" if Elizabeth temporarily let Heather stay was just gross! BHerbst was awesome with her aw hell no reaction. The only positive thing was Elizabeth got to see her brother again after too many years of separation. Dare I hope they actually get to speak to each other on-screen?

I'm disappointed Steven Lars didn't enter Curtis's office with a guitar slung across his chest. LOL.

Of course he does. The world revolves around his needs. Even if Steven Lars and Heather were on decent terms, that doesn't mean he's able to look out for her, Curtis's money or not. Curtis sucks.

Pro tip, Jack: Carly isn't as smart as you think she is.

Like so many of you have already said, getting a new liver is not going to miraculously wake Lulu up.  As much as the brain tumor trope has been way overdone, it would have made so much more sense if they found some sort of neurological issue that they could operate on and that would wake her up.  And yeah, any suspense or doubt has been washed away since we know Kelly is leaving and Lulu has been recast.  So overall…..yawn.

Brennan to Carly:  "If you have to ask, you're not as smart as I thought you were.:  Oh sweetie, she really really isn't.

Also not smart: Sonny thinking that he can move $100 million in diamonds before the person who owned them comes after him and Holly.

Not smart #3: Carly to Brennan "Are you trying to recruit me?"

Not smart #4: Curtis telling Steven Lars that Drew can get his medical license reinstated.  Professional associations don't like people who try to do that.

Not smart #5:  Liz telling Lucas "Brad got his job back because Terry gave him a recommendation ... Brad needed a hand. You do the math." Yes Liz, the math is the hospital needed lab tech and Brad is good at his job and has tried to make amends. What more math do you need?

Carly to Jason : Jack saved your life. That means I owe him. {unspoken: and I always get you to pay my debts.]

It's really sad to see Sam/Kelly leaving. (and others like Heather, Natalia etc. staying.)

A few weeks ago when Tracy was telling her what a good chef she is, I briefly thought that Tracy was going to offer to help her get a catering company started.

Portia is complaining about the inequity of justice.  I just don't see it in this specific case.

You know, if Portia had said that if Heather had been Black she wouldn't have been let out, I would have said yeah. But saying that Heather was let out because she went after a Black girl when she murdered Britt and Brando, both white (I forget who else she killed), just no.

I haven't loved any of the three Jordans overall, but the middle one (Briana Nicole Henry) was the only one I slightly bought as a law-enforcement professional. She had a little more toughness and savvy to her. The first (Vinessa Antoine) was the most charismatic and likable.

Ironically Vinessa Antoine is currently playing a cop on Plan B.

Also I think the super weird meeting between Sam and her baby daddies was probably because Kelly wants to work with Steve as little as possible.

The show really needs to stop having Ric push himself on Elizabeth after they've had her tell him more than once she's not interested. It's gross.

News flash, Curtis: Just because you're a control freak with your family doesn't mean everyone else has to be with theirs. His insistence that Steven Lars has some sort of obligation to take care of Heather is so gross. Curtis has no idea what Heather did to SL. Not that he cares, since his comfort is all that matters. Also, threatening violence against someone's mother in front of them is not a good idea, you clod.

At least I have the satisfaction of seeing the smug wiped from Curtis and Portia's faces when they realize Heather won;t go quietly into the night.

Ooooh, Jason has a glare now, instead of staring at people with a blank face. I'm shaking with fear!

Very emotional and there were a lot of anvils dropping in the scenes with Sam. You would have to suspect she wasn’t going to make it through surgery if you didn’t already know Kelly was leaving

The scenes with KeMo were emotional. If anything it seems like the actors are a tight group.

Doctor Gannon was pretty bitchy to Lucas, but those arms . . .

This whole blackmail business with Brad is going to blow up in his face, not in Portia's. Everyone will be all about how Portia was trying to protect her daughter from a serial killer and Brad was just the asshat taking advantage of it.

Ric is still as smarmy as ever.

Curtis is just a condescending, higher than thou tool. A male Carly. Those scenes with Steven Lars were all sorts of cringe.

Dear Jack Brennan, Carly is not that bright. She's has a tragically massive ego and wants you to tell her that you like her because this is high school.

UGH. Instead of Mooby and Cujo, LUCKY should have been at the hospital. So, what? Lucky’s gonna be MIA during the surgery?

Really Sam? Mooby is part of your “people” and has been “so good” to you?

I have to think there wouldn’t be all these waterworks if Kelly wasn’t leaving the show. I don’t recall such overwrought tears when Patrick was undergoing surgery to give part of his liver to Noah. Then again, Noah hadn’t been comatose for years, even though he would die without the surgery.

The box of pastries from Eckert’s can’t have been a coincidence, right? There hasn’t been a hide or hair of one since Jenny.

Curtis is GARBAGE. He knows JACK SQUAT about Steven Lars’ history with Heather. Take care of his family, my ass.

The bakery gets mentioned every so often.

Because it can't be said too often, Curtis sucks.

From GH Wiki

In 2024, to welcome a recovering Dante Falconeri home from the hospital, Rocco Falconeri, Danny Morgan, and Scout Cain present donuts from Eckert's to celebrate. The pink iced with rainbow sprinkles are Scout's favorite.

I have a feeling “you’ve all been so good to me” was Kelly talking to her 20-yr co-stars.

I haven’t been a Sam fan in ages but I really felt for the actress having to do these scenes. I wonder if less goodbye scenes would’ve been easier for everyone. As @DanaK said above, even without being spoiled we would’ve figured out she was a goner from those alone.

A lot of departures this year replaced by probably cheaper actors in useless roles.

Always nice to see Brennan though. The actor seems to have gotten a noticeable spray tan. I wonder if he has a bedroom scene coming up. 😁

I was distracted by how incestuous the scene was. Sonny, father to Sam’s stillborn, sister, and boyfriend.

I’m glad KM and NLG got another goodbye scene. It would have been awful if their last scene together was that mess with Molly and Kristina.

Are the Eckert pastries going to give the hospital staff food poisoning mid-procedure. They were making too big a deal of the pastries.

KeMo's I love you in sign language as her final gesture just made me sad.  I'm not a Sam fan, but they really did her dirty.

OMG, Curtis SUCKS!  How dare he tell Steve that it's his responsibility to basically look after his mother. The absolute fucking nerve.  And Portia telling Liz that "Curtis is taking care of it" was so gross.  These two are the worst.

Sam/KeMo was having her good-bye scenes with long-time colleagues MB and LW. JJ's Lucky and KeMo had only a couple of scenes together when he returned in 2009-11. So, I understand why he wasn't in the scenes involving Sam. I am, however, surprised that Sam didn't have a final scene with Michael/Michael and Jason since Michael was a significant part of Sam's history in her relationship with Jason. I think Chad Duell has been on the show at least 10 years now; he was there when JMB/Lulu left.

Sonny was Sam's first baby daddy, is Dante's dad and Rocco's grandfather, so I get why she said, "my people." What was she going to say, "with the exception of Sonny, you've all been so good to me." ?

Curtis is garbage, and he doesn't care about Steven Lars' history with Heather. I was just a little taken aback that he asked/paid a guy he's never met to come to Port Charles and then told him your mother is your responsibility - take her away from Port Charles or else because I'm protecting my family. That's Sonny-level audacity and self-absorption.

Yeah, they have been fairly regular in mentioning Eckert's Bakery and people going there for food since at least the Carlivati years. At that time it was because Ron apparently planned to bring Bill back and have some other Eckerts reappear during the Fluke saga before rewrites, but they've kept on mentioning it since so clearly someone is running it.

  • Useful 1

SBU really gave nothing with his "you got this" squeak.

It's a good thing there are few actors I love more than Genie Francis, because I know full well that if some nebulous figure of fate came floating down the hospital corridor, capes billowing behind, got Laura alone and whispered "you can have Lulu back, we will take Sam in exchange" Laura would coldly state "Make. The. Deal."

I understand that these scenes are probably Kelly saying good-bye to long time cast mates, and that Mooby was the father to her stillborn child. Still, these scenes are of SAM, Mooby, Cujo, etc. and not Kelly, Maurice and Laura, so that line "so good to me" is out of place and shouldn't have been written.

When was the last time Sam and Mooby even shared scenes or a storyline together? These scenes need to make sense.

As for Lucky, well, Lulu is also undergoing surgery, so he should be there for her and to support Laura, Dante, Rocco. I wasn't even thinking about Sam where Lucky is concerned.

Just my opinion on this.

I think the "so good to me" line in character, was supposed to be about her post-Jason life with Dante and his/Lulu's son and her own two kids. Sam was all in within Sonny and Jason's orbit for what, 15 years? She has been happy in a new family life, and her mom and his dad (who is also her former lover/baby daddy and her sister's dad, ICK) are supportive of her when she was no longer in "my life has no meaning without Jason" mindset.

The last time I can recall that they shared scenes due to a storyline was in the hospital in March, when Dante got shot/Jason returned. Sam told Sonny she wanted the person who shot Dante to pay.

So did I! I took it as a final act of rebellion that the producers would have to live with.

This maybe should go under Speculation, but it's really more of an idle thought: I wonder if Sam is the one who retrieved the gun after all? Maybe she'll have some kind of chest bubble thingie (I'm not a doctor!) from the dive that no one thought to ask her about since they didn't know she'd done it recently.
