Katelyn has more pop, precision, and performance quality than the majority of dancers in the metroplex. You could put her next to any one of these girls (now that Lacey and Kash are gone) and your eye would go to her in a DCC-style piece. That said, I don’t know her training. They likely cut her over technique (kicks, pointed feet). Raven is Mexicana, prettier than 3/4th of the squad (like omg that body girlll) and can hold her own next to any of them. Her kicks were a little disappointing at semis, but they take girls with low kicks into TC all the time. I’m tired of her not making it. Formal dance training is a barrier most POC trying to make it in the professional world face, which is one reason we don’t see many WOC on DCC. The thought of taking your child to ballet class several nights a week, especially when it costs hundreds if not thousands / month to keep your daughter in dance really didn’t exist in minority cultures until recently in my experience. The Mavs will have a new leader someday and there will come a time when the Mavs team exists again. 75% of DFW wants the Mavs Dancers at the games according to a CBS poll so these girls are not... at all... a “market failure.” MFFLs LOVE them. Besides, the whole point of cheerleading is to inspire the fans to make noise for the team. It’s a beautiful purpose that goes a lot deeper than just entertainment/monetary value. The fact that they are also trying to make us believe that there were no other WOC that at least deserved a chance to enter TC is ridiculous. At the end of the day, their standard of beauty is very narrow. Which is fine, since this is a organization that you own, but don’t act surprised when people call you out about it (hence the IG posts). Also, don’t be confused when the number of WOC who audition decrease because they constantly see those who look like them, turned down. 1 23 Link to comment

Preity June 2, 2019 Share June 2, 2019 Yay for DMD Ashley and Kristen making training camp! I hope they make it. Kristen is going to have to work really hard though. I’m hoping Ashley will look great in the uniform, I always think she looks like a big girl.. not weight wise, she has an amazing figure, just big boned in general or something... but she has so much power, I love watching her. Sad about Gabby, she seemed really sweet and being he only vet cut must be difficult. Obviously VK was going to make training camp again so there’s no point in being annoyed. Please just let her find some maturity and poise...and a hairbrush... I’m probably the only one, but I’m sad Malena didn’t make training camp. If she didn’t bring her a game to finals that’s fair though. Also really annoyed Lacey didn’t make it, she’s one I just don’t understand, I think she’d be great. For some reason I’m not sold on Meredith, I can’t say why, but something about her just doesn’t say DCC for me. i hardly know any of the new training camp candidates, so I’m really hoping the show will focus on a lot of them, I already felt like I hardly knew anyone on last years squad and I don’t need more girls i keep forgetting 10 Link to comment

And what can I say? I joked a while ago about maybe rioting if Gabby didn't make it back, but now I don't feel anger, just sadness. 😥 It seemed that she had gotten her weight under control, so I'm hoping that's not the excuse ("reason" I know. Don't mean to sound bitter). I felt like she was a taste of something different and I was impressed with her this season. It just felt like she had a whole lot of spunk, and she seemed so kind. She truly was one of my top rookies and she will be missed. As far as positives for me, I'm happy to see Kristin Dodd made it. Have a soft spot for her and her personality. Congrats to Meredith for making it one step further this year, and really hoping Lily can go all the way this time. 10 Link to comment
