DMD Katelyn a WOC is an excellent dancer and a great person I don't know why they didn't take her.  DMD Jen is Asian and they didn't take her.  I say if Melena, Katelyn and Jen were blonde they would have taken them.  They like blonde girls with light eyes.

Although there are plenty of woc on college and pro dance teams (NFL and NBA), and some of the best DCCs in recent years were AA girls. So, I  don't really buy that these women want to be on every team, except the DCCs. However, I do think Jerry Jones and just the general old fashion-style and management of the DCCs could be a turnoff.

Actually, women of color are greatly underrepresented on college teams, and since these are major feeders for the DCC, that's part of the problem.

Okay, I am trying to read and catch up. But can someone fill me in why Lauren did a sudden dropout? PM me if that is easier. I can't seem to find the conversation. But, I loved her what could have happened? 

I am kinda over the whole VK thing. I just want to see a genuine show, with real dancing, meet a balance of girls, not just one repeating sound bite character. I really don't care, unless they force a situation again. But honestly, we can't control the favoritism, nor make TPTB, be honest. Clearly, they struggle with that way more than these ladies struggle with weight. I could forgive a lot of bad choices if they were just honest about them.

I had no happy thoughts about a season 14, but knowing a new crew is behind the cameras and directing chairs......maybe it will return to the feeling of the earliest seasons when I felt like most of the show was about budding performers and....wow...DANCING!!!!!

Seriously, what is the 411 on Lauren. She was my Fav....

Lauren was injured, i believe. She retired days before finals.

I think we're talking about two different things. I'm simply saying that there are plenty of woc on college and pro dance teams (not that they're overrepresented by any means - i absolutely agree with on underrepresentation), so the argument that the DCCs can't get talented woc just don't want to be there doesn't ring true to me. I'm an attorney. POC are seriously underrepresented in law, but there are plenty of minority attorneys out there at firms (and many more who apply), so the argument that minority attorneys just don't want to be there is not reality. 

ETA: I'll also say that in my experience, places that prioritize diversity miraculously manage to find people, with the exceptions being geography (small/isolated areas) or a very highly technical/specialized field. Neither applies to the DCCs IMO.

Moving away from the diversity talk, I'm glad that Brennan made it back. I have a soft spot for her. I'm also glad that Malena did not make it back. I have nothing against her at all, but I think she would have wasted her own time only to get cut again. Better for her to move on!

Thanks...that makes sense now knowing it was that type of injury. As soon as I read it, I had flashbacks to swim competitions. I remember the pain of having one. Geez, a brutal starting place to a season, and a training camp with no breaks.
