Ya know.. Disney owns ABC and has always been a presence on The View.... why have we not heard a peep about some of these "failed" Disney kids who are now in their 20s and have aged out of the kids shows.... why have we not heard of any of those kids as a possible co-host or even a guest host??

Then there are all the talented women employed by ABC News- and their affiliates throughout the nation-

I'm sure we can come up with our favorites...

Diana Perez might've been a good match but she recently left World News Now to be home with her young family

I have my doubts about the Megan story. I don't know what her other job is I never heard of it. Let's just say that 900k and perks to join a network show would be pretty tough to say no to. Even if your mom is worth 500mil.

Maybe ABC just asked to talk? If they had come with an offer I think she would have accepted.

Thank goodness she didn't accept or they didn't  offer.  Either way,   I'd like to pretend the brass at ABC  isn't going to  replicate the mess they just blew up.

Yes, when I read the article about Meghan McCain I got the impression that she's trying very hard to put it out there that she was offered the job. I doubt she received an offer and I highly doubt she would turn one down. This isn't the first time she's auditioned, either. She clearly was interested in a co-host spot.

1. SE Cupp looks a bit like Meredith Viera's so that's kind of a good thing. Reminds one of the old View.

2. SE Cupp doesn't do a good job of providing facts to back up her point. Just throwing stuff out there and getting into word salad mode reminds one of Hasselbeck. That is. To a good thing.

3. I hope they are seriously considered that oriental woman (I had never heard of her, last name Puk?) who they had on a few weeks back. I caught a couple shows she was on and was impressed.

Suchin Pak.

As an aside, Asians (myself included) do not like the term "oriental" to describe a person. It's kind of like using "Negro": outdated and derogatory. It can be used to describe inanimate objects though. I know you didn't use it to offend anyone. A person of Pak's background can be described as looking East Asian if you don't know their specific ethnic background.

Point taken...sorry....thanks for educating me on that! Bottom line, I really was impressed with Pak!

No apology necessary! It's a just a strange term that I do know offends others.

Pak should be interesting too. She's a journalist with a lot of knowledge of pop culture and politics.

I had to laugh when I read that article on Meghan (thanks for the link, springtime!).  Maybe she thought she was auditioning, but I really think that ship sailed long ago for her.  Wasn't her first guest co-hosting stint on there more than five years ago?  It looks to me like her ongoing infrequent, sporadic visits there are more about subbing when needed than they are about auditioning for a permanent co-host spot.

I don't know if Suchin Pak has appeared just the one time or more than that.  I have nothing against her, she seemed pleasant enough but I felt there was not a lot about her that stood out.  I do believe the onus is on the co-host hopefuls to make a memorable impression of themselves, but that would have been next to impossible for her to do.  I recall it was an awful show that day.  Meghan was also there, I think, talking way too much in her annoying lecturing tone.  A really boring show.  Suchin wasn't given a fair shot that day so I hope she's back.  I don't know her from anywhere else, and because of the positive remarks by others, I'd like to see her again.  But I'm not sure if this is their last week before hiatus.

I liked her, but that said, she wasn't very good when talking to that rape victim two weeks ago. I don't and didn't expect any better from Jenny, Meghan and Whoopi, but as a journalist, I did expect better from Suchin.

Then again, this show should NEVER EVER attempt such interviews.

Certainly not with the panels they've had in recent years.  I should have tried harder to stick out that show because I missed that segment, and everything after Not-hot Topics.  I'm still hoping they can put together a panel of smart, talented women capable of tackling any task presented them with finesse.  Too much to ask of this show?  Maybe.

I guess one of the reasons I believe there are tryouts taking place is because the comings (and in many cases, the goings) for the last 14 years anyway, have tended to be not very well kept secrets.

Meghan McCain is so full of it. She guest hosted Access Hollywood Live with Billy Bush last Friday and on Friday evening's episode of Access Hollywood they showed a clip of Billy asking her about The View. She said there was "internet speculation" about whether she was joining the show, but she didn't directly answer his question as to whether she was in talks with the show. Like I said a few days ago, I think she's trying very hard to put it out there that she's in the running for a co-host spot when she clearly is not.

I just searched for it and found the full episode of Access Hollywood Live and I see there was a lot more than the few seconds they showed on Access Hollywood that night. They showed a clip of Meghan on The View, also a clip of the infamous Rosie/EH split screen, and Meghan sort of bashes EH. The most interesting part, though, is how Meghan answers Billy's questions about joinng The View and how she bullshits her way around answering directly, trying to give the impression she's in talks for the spot.

They tease it for the first minute and a half in the show opening, and then skip to 36:30 for that segment:

Thank you for the information. I have known for a while not to use the word oriental to describe a person. I did not know it was acceptable to use the word still to describe an inanimate object.

I am not impressed with Sonny as a permanent host. Love the idea of a legal mind on the panel but I don't think she makes a good case or exudes a strong opinion when she's at the table. Maybe she does better in the courtroom - I certainly hope so - but she's not very convincing next to the rest of the hosts (and that's not a good thing).

Star's approach was way better.

Stacee, I agree with you about Sonny.  She brags about taking Sherri's advice to wear her clothing tighter and shorter?  She does some little gyration when walking out to the show?   She gives the impression that because she "was a prosecutor" she is The Source for all things moral (all kids' photos are fodder for pedophiles).  She's just another idiot lucky enough to get degrees and visible jobs.

Lucky Bitch, this just means she's running for President!

Oriental rug is example I use when correcting people (Rugs are oriental, people aren't)

Although my sister doesn't get it- She is teaching preschoolers this summer (usually works in a high school)

She had them sit Indian style and sing that old favorite 10 Little Indians  (ugh)-

One thing I've wondered for decades is who decides when various terms, spellings, and punctuations change.  AND...how do they notify us all in a timely manner?  I also wonder how and when some terms relating to people's ethnic origins become negative when not used in an insulting manner.  I think there are secret organizations (The Ultimate High Board of Punctuation ~ The Assembly of Stern Spelling Sisters) who make changes on a whim and then laugh in derision because they didn't pass along the changes, rules, and their reasons to anyone.

It is tough to tell sometimes, FormerNun. I have a Japanese friend who often refers to herself jokingly as "The OP" (Oriental Princess) when we are clothes shopping. We're having lunch next week and I plan to ask about the Asian vs. oriental thing.

Just an opinion but I don't think anyone is currently trying out for the spots. I think ABC made their choices quite a while ago.

I hope this is true and that all the current guest co-hosts are not going to be on the new panel. I'm not sure I will be able to take a daily dose of Sunny Hostin; the woman hits me in the worst way. I can't bear people who are subjective and biased, but then turn around and in the same breath act as if their words must be fact by hiding behind the word "journalist" (which at one time implied an "objective authority," which this woman is not.). That's worse to me than even a hypocrite.

Maybe it's continued use is regional.  Because at least in the areas I've lived I can't say I've ever heard people younger than their 70s use the term.

I think it went out of vogue even before Vietnam (after the Korean War I think--because by Vietnam an even worse term was being used).  Generally I think it's put in the same boat as associating Asians with this: (which is called "The Oriental Riff", by the way, and was actually written by a white person)

Since actresses always seem to be in the mix for consideration, I wonder if they considered Alison Sweeney.  She's leaving her soap opera after 20+ years and they'd only have to leverage her out of The Biggest Loser.

I wonder how long it took her to think up that line. She always tries way too hard.

sooo….. Graceland and Scarface were a lotta drugs and crazy behavior, Goldie in the 70s was playing a ditz and pretending you didn't have a brain (that was the character Goldie always played) so Meghan is about women playing ditzy and living in over the top money can't buy you class abodes??

Three in a row?   Accck @ginger90!   I'm sorry.  I did two in one day once and found myself shouting at everyone the rest of the evening.

Wallace isn't the worst choice by a long shot in my opinion.  I think she came off well and it didn't hurt that she sat between Bitsy Barbie in the yellow dress and Jenny.   After the HBO movie about Palin and McCain (she was a McCain staffer) she  confirmed it was true enough to make her uncomfortable.  Plus she had a pretty public feud with Palin and even wrote a novel about a mentally-ill vp candidate based on Palin.  Ha!

I have to question not just the intelligence, and not just the taste of someone who WANTED that Island/Table/Whatever it is, but also their sanity.

The gold tables and silver throws and pillows in the rest of the shots are just tacky.  The Island thing looks freaking dangerous with all those edges, impractical with it's placement, and totally at odds with all of the wood features on the cabinets and floors.

I even have to laugh at that cowhide rug.  Good lord.  Do they shoot porn movies at that house?

The room with the blue curtains and oversized gold rock tables looks dated to me. Plus the carpets look shag, which doesn't help.

The kitchen looks nice (from the shot shown) but that island is scary and gross looking.

In my experience, it's best to choose classic pieces for your workhorses (tables, couches, side tables, cabinets, etc)  because they can be pricey and go whimsical/funky with the accesories because they are easy to change season to season and not as expensive . But I'm not sure money/cost is a factor with Meghan.

I'm glad Meghan is not in the running for a slot on The View. She's certainly not the worst but that voice and manner in which she speaks would drive me crazy.

That room is something to get tired of very quickly...Meghan is the daughter of one of the richer and (previously) powerful families in Arizona (not her father's family).  She may never have needed to economize...especially over decorating decisions.  I think she'll have a great laugh over that decor in a very few years.

Oh good Lord - Did Sherri confirm today that Sippy Cupp will, in fact, be one of the new co-hosts?  As Sippy and Whoopi were getting into it over the praying in public issue, Sherri was off to the side shouting "Next season, Folks...next season".  She was giving Sippy the side-eye as she was saying that, and it seemed to indicate that this is what we could anticipate (?) with the new panel.  And, Sippy was sitting there looking really smug today....Hmmm.

Se Cupp & Sunny are the new cohosts. Whoopi, is sicking to me.

Whoopi sure had a cob up her butt today over something.  I guess she doesn't approve of Sippy.

From the first day of cohosting, Sunny has acted so entitled, as if she owns this show. Plus, she's trying to be in every "category" -- I'm a mom! I'm a Latina! I'm from the hood! I'm a lawyer!  Go away.

Today she said she "spent many years in law school."  Most lawyers spent only three years there--the least of their schooling.  Hell, I spent EIGHT in elementary school alone!  Guess that gives me some sort of major cred.

So SE Cupp is official? Super, just super. Leave it to The View to hire a woman who is no friend to women.
