Wasn't Kyndall cut on that same night? In season 4 what night was Kamie cut on? Was it the night they announced the team? She said when she came back in season 5 she was cut "hours way from announcing the team".

Yes, I think something similar happened to Kyndall as well. Such a shame, both Amy and Kyndall would have been amazing cheerleaders.

I do think Amy should have been given a chance.  She would have been a good ambassador for the brand.  Kyndall too.  But they'd rather have someone who acts like a ditz instead.  No one mentioned Vivian, but I think TPTB dodged a bullet on her.

Especially since they've taken people with low kicks before (Loni, Mackenzie, Kalli).

If I recall, didn't that happen to her 2 years in a row? I swear on her last cut she said something like "Oh no, not the last night again"

I second this, probably two of the hardest cuts for me as well as Brennan in her first TC (and then second). I always liked Ashley Paige, Taryn and Courtney from s10. I'd also love to see Bret, Shaina and Madeline S, sometimes a cut makes you even more determined next time.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I really wasn't a fan of Amy. I didn't dislike her, but I didn't think she should've made the team, especially as a 38th team member that year. She reminds me of Shelbi in S10 or Malena, where she's super intense and emotional to the point that I worry about her ability to handle the emotional stress of being on the team. Combine that with low kicks, a bad memory, and a lack of fluidity, and I honestly don't think she should've gotten half as far as she did in TC.

I honestly think most of the women have iffy memory because of the pressure they're under. Even someone like Lauren (ex Dolphins) had dreadful memory but made SG as a rookie and is considered a fave by many. I think Amy was a great pom dancer and had a maturity about her but for me, her kicks did improve but not enough. Then again, I've always thought Maddie's kicks were dreadful and she's achieved pretty much everything as a DCC! I don't think Amy was highly emotional, only on the night she got cut. I'll always remember that pre-finals session with Kitty where she says she has a lot to fix so no time to cry. That speaks of strong emotional intelligence.

I loved Auto Amy but DCC wasn’t the right team for her.  She then tried out for Golden State Warriors.  They had episodes of tryouts on the web which I watched.  She had a great hip hop style & easily made the team.  The Warriors were  National champions so she had a great experience but she was one & done with a memorable year.

I was thinking of her last night, obviously, but she was also called in to talk with Kitty and K&J along with Allie and got emotional as soon as they asked if she would reaudition should she be cut that year. She was also pretty upset the two years prior when she was cut at auditions. Maybe emotional was the wrong word for it, but I think she just invested a little too much into DCC and would have gone crazy worrying about all of the expectations on her through the year and whether or not she would be benched or get cut or something.

Agree with Maddie's kicks! There are some where it's mentioned maybe once and then never again on the show even though they never really improve - I think I've mentioned Ashley N from S8 before on this topic, Christina's never got much better after her rookie year either, and so on.

Anyone else find it odd that the alumni spotlights dont feature any photos of the actual alums, only the people who are writing about them?  Wouldnt it be good to post a photo so you know who the former dcc is - not everyone is as passionate as we are! And I have NFI who Lisa Henslin is

I remember that many of us felt that way about Brennan...if she made the team, she would be just fine once the pressure of auditioning was over. That turned out to be the case.

So I'm starting my most recent re-watch of old seasons, and I'm on season two.  I remember seeing a post/response from Meredith Oden about how Kelli "made her wear blue contacts" because there were two redheads with green eyes (Erica Jenkins being the second).  But it looks like she has blue eyes in her prelim tryout, so that doesn't really add up, unless we're led to believe that it started even before she auditioned at all...

It seems like an odd and silly thing to lie about, so who knows.  I just tried to pay attention this time around!  Regardless, Meredith is LOVELY and boy could she kick.

Watching old seasons on Pluto while working every time Angela from Australia audition season comes up I realize how much I never cared for her. She always came off to me like she thought she was going to 'shake her tail feathers with her accent" on to the squad. Same season they picked McKenzie for the squad despite her horrible kicks but she was just adorable so they chose to overlook it... I can't imagine how horrible it feels to try out and not make it for whatever reason then see another girl a season later make it with the same things they said you didn't have. I hope that makes sense... 🙂

And then she thought she automatically should have made show group because of her tenure. I thought she had a sense of entitlement a mile long on that one, and I was (unpopularly, I know) glad that guest choreographer called her out.

It makes perfect sense...However, Angela may have been a bit of an Aussie showboat, she held her own when it came time to dance. As for McKenzie, being so small she had to be at the end of the kick line so her 'iffy' kicks weren't as obvious. As well, she worked had with a trainer to get her kicks as high as they would go...I admired her diligence. It paid off

I saw Courtney Cook's veteran audition & interview last night followed by Kelli's tearful meeting with the vets saying Courtney wouldn't be joining them. I think Courtney was high during her interview and she withdrew from camp for a recreational drug problem.  She wasn't anorexia thin. Makes me sad. She was one of my favorites.

In Season 7, when that supposed "nutrition expert" makes the claim about carbonation causing cellulite, which it doesn't, the girls start laughing cause they know she's full of it and she falls all over herself trying to explain her way out of that one.  I laugh every time.

Funny that she never made an appearance in any other seasons. They must have gotten grief over that. Unfortunately many of the MLM companies the ladies sell stuff for believe in similar woo.

I was watching Auto-Amy last night on Pluto and it just breaks my heart every time. I had to wonder if Kelli just brought her to training camp for the drama.  What she did to Auto-Amy, Kaime, Megan Michelle, and others was just cruel.

Like how did Carla Ann make it into training camp, but not Megan Michelle? She didn't even know that Barack Obama was president. They always say they want smart girls but that's obviously horseshit.  To have her come in just to cut her because of photos was cruel. I don't know if they saw those photos before or after she was in training camp, but part of me thinks the former.  What they've done to a lot of these women has been just cruel. That's not business. That's just mean.

I don't know what these women are doing now, but I hope they are happy with their lives and have moved on. I know Karissa is a lawyer so good for her! I know a lot of people didn't like her but I was rooting for her. I mean if Loni can make the squad any one can.

Yeah I don't think a lot of the older squad members would have had an "hd ready face" I think Kandi was such a powerful dancer that they let some of her bulkiness go. I'd still kill for her body though.

Trisha Trevino also does not have an HD friendly face. She looks like a foot.  Never understood her appeal at all.

Auto Amy CRUSHED me when they cut her, she should've made the team 1000%, it still pisses me off.

I LOVED Karissa too. I didn't realize people didn't like her, was there anything in particular? I loved that she was not a pageant girl and seemed very scrappy to me, she wasn't your typical TCC & that to me made her so likable.  When they colored her hair she was gorgeous. In fact I have a picture on my phone of her with the darker hair bc I always say i'm going to color my hair like that as opposed to the blonde that it is now, is that weird? I love that she's an attorney too! DCC lost two very special ladies with these two...

I loved Karissa, she'd have been a great ambassador and seemed okay in the DCC style (far worse have made the squad before). Sure, she wasn't as trained as most but she seemed really lovely and would've have been great on any sort of appearance (with young and old). I like that she was a little unpolished and not a typical DCC looker. I also loved her working-class background, living out of her car and not having parents with lots of money. Most DCC seem to have the same privileged background of a top-notch university or family.

@DCC-UK you hit the nail on the head, she was a working class girl that didn't have the financial support of her parents and THAT is what made her sooooooo relatable to me. I love an underdog and that's how I saw her lack of training or financial means. She would've been such a great rags to riches story. I cried when they let her go, she was so scrappy & willing to do whatever she had to like sleeping in her car. Such a huge loss for DCC...

Storyline, I'm sure.  Wouldn't most girls have already moved to Dallas by the first meeting?  Or at least have found a place to stay, even if temporary.  Not to mention, the camera following her.

😂 That made me literally LOL. Yeah I think we were duped a little with Briana’s “fish out of water” storyline. Looking at her Insta account, she’s gone full on Kendall-Jenner-Glow-Up. But every time I watch that season, I think JUST CUT HER ALREADY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

But it just goes to show how much the TCC selection is really Kelli’s decision. And how little the judges’ opinions matter.

For instance, Season 1 and Kalli. Literally ONLY Kelli and Judy said yes to her (at least from the editing). And yet, there she is, painfully fumbling her way through TC.

Of course Danielle’s second year audition always comes to mind too. Although I’m willing to give that one a pass because she was one of my favorites through the years.

How many of Kelli’s audition pets have actually made it onto the squad? Most recently there was Meredith, but we all know how that turned out. I’m sure we discussed this here before but watch Pluto really puts it into perspective.

I'm more or less Danielle neutral, neither really like nor dislike, so no bias on my part, and I think she deserved the pass she got. She was a good combination of "yes ma'am" and "takes no crap," and I think Kelli respected her for it.

Which is why I have such an issue with Brennan being cut. Danielle was a fan favourite and went into finals with an injury. Brennan went into TC after suffering from Covid (and there are lots of data to support her potentially having long-term covid), also a fan favourite. Just seems to be one rule for some (often the stereotypical pretty girls) and one rule for others (Kelli's non-faves).

What’s funny is that I was fairly ambivalent to Danielle while she actually on the squad, and I was watching MTT in real time. But in my subsequent Pluto watching, I like her more and more.

And then equally don’t like girls who I DID like the first time around. 😝🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I think the only rule is whether or not Kelli really likes you. It was clear that Kelli loved Danielle and wanted her on the team, whereas I think she was always ambivalent about Brennan. I mean, she cut her twice in training camp before she made it the first time. I think she liked Brennan as a person but was never going to really fight hard for her over other DCCs or potential DCCs.

In general, I think vets (who don’t have other issues) should be given passes for injuries and illnesses as long as the injury or illness is not expected to be long-term. If a girl has proven herself to a good DCC and just happens to hurt her ankle or get the flu right before tryouts, but will be fine by the time the season starts, I don’t see why she shouldn’t be brought back.

The pattern with the “pets” seems to be that that if they do in fact make the team, they only stay for one year. Either they have the good sense not to re-audition knowing that they’ll be at risk (a la Loni Lindsay), or they get cut at auditions when they come back (like Morgan, Breelan, Meredith probably would have been).

100% agree. With Danielle, she injured herself preparing for her solo, so it was even technically work related. And I do get the lack of Cassie appeal, but she was injured on the job, too, so I was okay with her getting a pass for that last season. These girls seem to give SO much of themselves to the team. I think it’s the least the organization can give in return.
