He used to be VP at Bravo of Programminf at Bravo and helped create a lot of what Bravo is and the Housewives franchises. He left but still exec-produces the Houseeives and hosts WWHL. They also hire him to do the reunions of non-Housewives shows.

I can't stand Andy, but he was a fantastic executive with a great innate sense for what made good tv on a macro level. He helped to develop and greenlit: Brilliant, but Cancelled, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Top Chef, Project Runway, Queer Eye, the Rachel Zoe Project, Millionaire Matchmaker, Flipping Out, Being Bobby Brown, Work Out, and the Real Housewives franchises. During her appearance on WWHL, Oprah actually thanked Andy because they actually used his advice to bolster OWN until they could get a better handle on the programming.

Andy is terrible on a micro level, which is why WWHL and the reunions are kind of terrible. But the fact that Bravo isn't an also ran showing pretentious British programs that PBS and BBC America already passed on is partially attributable to Andy Cohen--good or bad. 

Furthermore, we've seen a lot of cultural shifts that are in all likelihood heavily influenced by the shows he put on the air. Many scholars and cultural critics have discussed the impact of Queer Eye or how important Top Chef was in bringing foodie-ism, molecular gastronomy, the locavore movement, and other food trends to the masses. In a final example, the Real Housewives were pitched as a reality version of Desperate Housewives. At this point Desperate Housewives is barely remembered, but Teresa screaming "prostitution whore" and flipping a table has a much deeper cultural penetration.

Andy is a jerk, puerile, and self-absorbed, but he was also probably one of the most influential network executives of the aughts.

I just checked her twitter for the first time (this week!) and, in the middle of my scrolling, she set her account to “protected” again. It seems like she just does this periodically when she gets overwhelmed? Before it was made private, I saw: Caroline fighting with Hannah, Caroline threatening libel lawsuits, some talk of a “#notmycaptain movement,” Caroline saying she is not invited to the reunion, and lots of “fan” retweets. She also changed her profile to read “Suzie  from Nebraska.” She is still really impressed with herself from the call to WWHL last week.

Haven’t read the whole thread, but just in case this didn’t get mentioned, shingles is not a variant of virus that causes herpes.

Shingles is caused by the herpes zoster virus, which causes chicken pox.  While herpes is in the name, it is not related to herpes simplex 1 or 2, which causes cold sores and genital herpes. /microbiologist hat off :)

 

Dont want anyone who gets shingles to mistakenly think they were exposed to herpes.

She's a moron. Andy was playing with her lack of sobriety and stream of consciousness verbal diarrhea, picking up on all of her tangents so she'd get sidetracked and wouldn't be able to get her original point across (assuming she had one).

Caroline was a guest on Heather McDonald's Juicy Scoop podcast this week. And she didn't show. She was invited to talk about 'her side' given she's not attending the reunion. The reason she didn't show? Something about missing court dates because her dog attacked a neighbour's dog. She has a rescue pitbull that she says is 'not socialised', took it outside off leash at a time she thought was 'safe' and it saw the neighbour's dog. Why she's missed court dates isn't so clear. Also on twitter she's still screaming in caps that 'someone' is impersonating her and asking for money. And if you see one of those tweets to send it to her immediately (I'll spare the forum all the caps). So, that's Caroline's week as far as I know. I still think they should video link her in for a section of the reunion. I didn't notice any Mazels today for Andy becoming a father, she was pretty quiet on that topic!

Possibly no surprise...Caroline tweets on 12/28 and more on 12/29 that she battles with depression and anxiety, where it sounds like she has been professionally diagnosed.  And she tweets tons of support for the mentally ill in the workplace, in response to those who question why Bravo/producers hired her at all - saying (in two different tweets) that if the mentally ill were excluded from jobs the unemployment rate would be 80%.

As @queenjen and @Honey pointed out, Kate made a joke about Caroline's next ailment being shingles. This is much more in line with a typical Kate dig. It is really is quite plausible that Caroline misinterpreted the shingles (Herpes Zoster) dig with a dig about having oral or genital herpes (herpes simplex 1 or 2).

 

That's my issue with Caroline now. I don't think she's lying or intentionally misinterpreting the situation. I think she's so paranoid and overcome with anxiety that she literally cannot observe situations without her fear and persecution filter. The worst part about it is that Kate's crack about Caroline having shingles is actually mean. It hints that Caroline is a hypochondriac and malingerer. If Caroline could dial it back, she could make a salient point about Kate's undercover bitchiness.

If she did not see Kate do it or have proof she does it and goes ahead and says that she does it, it is a lie meant to get back at her. People can speculate all they want but until someone presents proof it is just someone trying to hurt her reputation either because they have a real beef with her (Rock, Caroline and so on) or someone who for whatever reason does not like her.

Caroline's out of the blue apology could stem from her getting legal push back on her comments.

I do agree that she is backing down due to a legal push back most likely from Bravo. I am sure they bullied her. That's par for the course.

Of course if it came to a legal case and they had to do some discovery it might be a different story. Now Caroline doesn't have the smarts or the resources but some opportunistic ambulance chaser like that Porn Lawyer guy might be able to sweat a settlement our of Andy Cohen's nasty ass.

Bullying is in the eye of the beholder. I think the legal department of Bravo going after a marginal person like Caroline might very well apply. That's what lawyers do. They bully people under the threat of a lawsuit and legal damages.

I don't know what kind of relationship Caroline has with her father and what kind of lawyer he might be. If he is a real estate lawyer for example I don't think he will be of much help.

She needs a really scummy barracuda like the creepy porn lawyer to make some dough off of this mess. Or an opportunistic feminist gonif like Gloria Allred to really take them to the cleaners. There has to be some "Me Too" issues in there somewhere. If not they can always manufacture something. She definitely can prove a hostile working enviornment based on just the footage we saw let alone what they might find after discovery. That's what they do. I hope Caroline can make some money off of it. She seems like she is foundering and she can use the dough. I bet the right kind of ambulance chaser could squeeze out a settlement.

Anything she can take off of Andy Cohen and Bravo puts her on the side of the Angels.
