Meghan is so glad that women are finally being honest about how tough motherhood can be.

Like this is a new trend?

My kids are close to 30, and whether Meghan knows it or not, mothers have been talking honestly about childbirth, the after -effects, (including not wanting sex)  and how tough motherhood is for at least that long.  Just because MEGHAN hasn't been listening to it, doesn't mean it wasn't happening.

Obama and Biden were seen getting lunch - but Meghan goes on a tangent about how terrible socialism is.  Joy asks about her views on healthcare - is it a privilege, or a guarantee? Meghan talks about "snowbirds?" And then - "Nobody can explain to me how we're going to pay for it."

What?  Did the government subsidize their lunch?  WTF?  What did she say about snowbirds (Canadians in Florida?)?  Canadians are covered by their Medicare for a certain, piddly amount, or they buy extra insurance.  The US Govt. isn't picking up the tab.

"Be aware that maintaining your provincial health care coverage does not mean you'll be covered for medical expenses outside Canada. Provinces severely limit the types of medical services covered and coverage amounts medical expenses incurred outside Canada, only covering a very small fraction of these costs.

For example, a hospital stay in the U.S. can cost $10,000 or more per day, but Ontario OHIP will only cover a maximum of $400 per day - a measly 4% of your total out of country hospital stay costs!

To ensure you're covered for unexpected medical expenses while travelling, you'll need to purchase snowbird travel medical insurance."

When RBM goes off on healthcare and how it will be paid for, I wish they would remind her it's not being paid for now!  Her father is being treated well and I am sure they are managing his pain, etc... But I would love to ask her about the thousands of people  (my mother included) who had a curable form of cancer AND  insurance but by the end of treatments was bankrupt and losing her home. She has no idea how 1 illness can wipe you out.  HEY Meghan how do we pay for the healthcare we have now !!! Something needs to be fixed.  She keeps saying 80 percent tax, we'll first of all since health insurance will no longer be removed from paycheck, it will be replaced with this tax, not added on top of insurance.

I admit I am not sure exactly how it works, but I watched Michael Moore's documentary SICKO which show how England was able to afford it after WW2 devastation, pretty sure we could work it out.

Insurance for all would eliminate all the payments being made to the insurance companies.  All that money would now go towards funding insurance for all.  It's not a hard concept to understand.

Meghan thinks it's a right for people who can afford it.  She has never went without healthcare.  She has never had to pay for it herself.  Growing up rich has made her a truly horrible person.

She deflected and played victim. Every time she is in the news for throwing a tantrum she passive-aggressively chastises the table and audience about what she really meant.  She started whining to Joy about how she isn't a cold hearted person and don't make her out to be one. Everyone isn't triggered by the socialist conversation Meggie, YOUR are the one that is triggered.

Sara's sendoff was sooo adorable. She really is a ray of sunshine and I've never seen anyone be so positive all the time but I think this show has taken a turn for the worse (looking at you, Meghan). She'll be in an environment that matches well with her personality, IMO.

But it made me think about when Jedediah left the show last year. This is a little off-topic but I remember Whoopi had no reaction and didn't say much of anything that day. I don't even think they had a compilation video of her, which made me think the rumors of her departure might be true...

Anyway, I'm happy for Sara.

Whoopie had no use for Jedediah because she never backed down.

Whoopie campaigned for Megan to come on the show.  It is why she protects her so much to the detriment of the show.

Please don't tell me she thought Canadian snowbirds come here to get health care.  Is she that stupid?

That was the right's talking point when they were opposing the ACA.  She is just repeating what was said in the past. Megan has no fresh ideas to offer anybody about anything. It begs the question why is she there.

Although I agree with Joy most of the time, I'm glad Whoopi was there to counter the "Bernie would've won" claim and her openness toward socialism, even if Sunny is right that some ideas aren't too bad. I don't care to hear anything Meh-gun has to say on the subject considering she spends every day on this show defending a fascist wannabe dictator--she has no moral high ground to lecture from whatsoever. Naturally she screamed over Joy at the end so she couldn't respond in any way. Joy finally threw up her hands and gave up.

Anyone else noticing these strange outros from Whoopi, where she says "We'll be right back" real fast before another word can be said? All this heavy lifting from ABC just to protect McCain. They didn't even do this kind of work for Hasselback back in the day when Geddie was there; Sherri put on that they were besties, yes, but otherwise she was treated the same as every other panelist. I'm still wondering who McCain has blackmail material on at ABC to elicit this kind of response.

Anyway, very sorry to see Sara go. I've had my complaints about her the past 6 months--although I can't blame her if she checked out during this season with a lunatic like Meh-gun there injecting drama and hostility, not to overlook the perpetual shrieking, every day--but Sara's definitely a sweet, genuine person. She'll be great on GMA. Hopefully Ana or Tara will be filling her seat next season and bring the same professionalism to the show, otherwise I'll be moving on from The View along with her.

I turned it on at the beginning, and just before I muted MM, I heard her muttering about Canadian "Snow Birds" going to Arizona for health care.  It is quite possible that the "Snow Birds" she associates with are wealthy, and therefore can afford to go to Arizona for medical procedures, and pay for them out of pocket.

The rest of us regular Canadians, however, depend on our free health care.  Just an fyi, though. Not everything is free.  We do have to pay for medications, though insurance plans via employers, or privately, covers some costs, as well as some dental and vision care.

Anyway, I walked away from the tv and came back into the room for Sara's farewell. She is such a cheerful, sweet person. I know she'll do well with Michael.  I'm sure after the goodbye emotions are gone, she'll realize how lucky she is to have escaped that toxic environment.

I think this show needs a new (maybe younger) liberal on the panel to counteract MM.  The question that should have been asked during the how to pay for healthcare discussion is why aren’t conservatives pressured to explain how they will pay for their tax cuts, border wall, etc.   Because they never do either.   Trump had no plans during his campaign on how to pay for anything other than Mexico will pay for the wall.

MM approaches her job like a pundit (hence the blue cards). She comes in with “stats” and prepared talking points.  The rest of the panel are basically just giving their opinions.  Sunny sometimes has notes, but to support her opinions and not talking points.  Maybe a liberal pundit could help balance out MM.

And I always thought snowbirds went south for the weather not health care

There are Americans that go to Mexico for dental work as well for the he same reason.  Americans also go to other countries for cheaper plastic surgery or fertility treatments.  Does that mean those other countries have better healthcare, or the American system is flawed?

I haven't watched the view in years although I started (again) reading this board a few months ago.  Now that The Price is Right is in Reruns I'll sometimes watch the view if there's a guest I want to see.  Started watching this morning and saw the bit about health care.  If I had been Joy I woulda just gotten up and walked off.  Meghan didn't let her talk.  She's every bit annoying as you all have been writing on this board.  I ended up switching aback to The Price is Right.

When Meghan was going on about how do we pay for it, someone should have said how do we pay for everthing else?  Run up the debt - that is if it's a republican president.

I have an incurable possible fatal disease which currently is under control thru medication.  I'm lucky I have good health insurance - retired Federal employee.  There is one treatment that costs (you inhale this stuff 3 times a day) that costs $18,000 a month - luckily I'm not on that.  I go to cardio/pulmonary rehab and was talking to one of the other patients there that has some weird autoimmune disease and she's goes for these treatmetns twice a month which cost $60,000 (luckily she has good insurance).  I think people that are against universal healthcare are people that don't have or no one close to them have had a serious health issue.

This was covered in Sicko.  They discussed Canadians who would stop at the border to buy insurance before entering the U.S. for a day's visit.  They could twist an ankle and go home with a $10,000 ER bill.

National health care is a necessity, but we really need a single payer system.  Otherwise the insurance companies still call all the shots.

The red tape eradication will save hundred of millions if not billions.  Physician practices often have one to two full-time workers (or more) who deal with insurance alone.

Meggy just makes crap up.  She claimed that Obama didn't endorse Ocasio-Cortez because she's a socialist.  No, he only endorsed 80 people, there are 435 Congressional races, plus he also endorsed state legislative candidates.  He was only endorsing candidates in close races.

Secondly, in her claim about the trillions of dollars that it would cost to fund Medicare for all, she didn't mention that the number is less than what Medicare costs today just covering a limited number of people.

Meghan's agenda is that there is a split in the Democratic party - the traditional Dems against the "Socialist Dems."  she's trying to make that the talking point.  Obama endorses certain candidates, she jumps on it as "proof"  that he is choosing  one side and not the other.

The topic was Joe Biden and Barack Obama having lunch together, and maybe this is hinting at Biden running.  Meghan jumps on it to push "there's a split in the party!  Obama is taking sides!"  The Dems will never win if they can't be united!  Healthcare! Socialism! Taxes!

I LOVED Sara's take on it - talking about the Obama/Biden memes that were so damn cute.

The more she talks about the "split" in the Democratic party the less she needs to talk about the split in her own party.  Unless of course there is no split and Meghan is a Trump supporter now.
