I'm 26 and I lived away from home for four years for my degree, but I'm back with my parents now. I've been struggling with my mental health lately but watching Sean makes me feel better about myself too.

I at least know how to cook something other than pizza.

I went away to school at 17, moved home at 21 after graduation, moved an hour away for a year at 25, moved home again, largely due to my own mental health issues, and finally moved out for good at 32, into an apartment with a roommate. I'm 42 now and bought my condo about 6 years ago. You're okay.

I don't cook much but I know how to make enough things to keep myself reasonably well fed without living on sandwiches.

Geez is Dr. Now an all purpose surgeon?  He does bariatic, plastic surgery, skin removal and now gallbladder.  Next he will probably do heart surgery.

I wonder what happened to his new doctor assistant that showed up on one show.

I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't sure how a church suggestion would go over. I think they had church members help them with the move to Houston.

In my church, you can call up from wherever, tell the bishop you are moving to town, and there will be a bunch of men at the new place, ready to unload your stuff. If you just had a baby, there will be frozen meals for you when you get out of the hospital. I need to get a dilated eye exam soon and can't drive. Someone from church will pick me up and take me home. It has been wonderful to have this community and when I see people like Sean, I feel for them, because we all need somebody sometime.

At the risk of being cynical, Sean's kind of like a black hole. Any church would quickly learn that Sean could easily take all of the help, effort, money, baked goods, and home cooked meals that they would provide him, and give them nothing but complaints in return.

I wonder if there's a program to help him get on his feet, one that would provide some type of reward for him when he gets off his ass?

Good luck with the shits, Sean.

Is that what happens after this surgery? Someone just told me today they were going to get the surgery soon. I wonder if he's been told that. : )

These helpless people astound me. I had hand surgery yesterday. With a cast over stitches and a broken finger, I rode a bicycle 3 miles each way to get a few groceries and prescriptions, then came home, cooked a meal, washed the dished and installed an air conditioner because it's hot!

Sean, you *can* unpack!!

I salute you. You are a fucking Amazon.

My cousin had to get her gallbladder removed not too long ago. She said it was fairly easy to recover from.

But then again, she also is training for the Boston marathon so her not being 600 pounds probably helped her!

WHY DID THAT GALL BLADDER LOOK LIKE IT WAS FILLED WITH CORN???????

That's at the top of the list of things I did NOT need to see before I die.

Those were gallstones. That's what they look like.

I think technically he is a general and vascular surgeon.  One of the reasons that he is qualified to do the skin removal surgery is due to his expertise in all of the blood vessel tie off‘s .  I don’t think his skin removal surgery is considered plastic. He’s not trying to enhance their looks. It’s more for functionality.

Did Sean have the surgery ? I am sorry his  Mother is dead but she created the mess he is "living " . ...

Yeah, this is upsetting. Sean need to grow the heck up, but with her isolating him, babying him and keeping him ALL TO HERSELF has really stunted him.

I thought her makeup looked very 1920’s film star, in a very nice way.

Oh my gosh, I though the same thing!  The name Louise Brooks popped into my mind.  I didn't even know I knew who Louise Brooks and had to look her up to confirm that was a real person.  Weird...

You stud! I had a bunionectomy and osteotomy last Thursday and have been bedridden since. Which is driving me NUTS. This show has actually helped me not eat when I’m bored (which is all the time when you have to sit in bed)and not freak out over manageable pain. Thx, Dr Now!

I know he’s brought a lot of this on himself, but I have such empathy for someone so helpless and so devoid of anything. I know this is generally a snark thread, but my heart breaks for him.

He needs a social worker.

Sean can unpack a box a day.

He needs to get rid of a lot of crap so he has room to put the stuff he unpacks.

It can be a side effect. I think my mom was told to avoid high fat and spicy foods for a little while after she got her gallbladder out but she went back to a normal diet after a few weeks and was fine.

Why is Sean going home in a hospital gown?

Just be glad he's wearing shorts under it.

How y'all doin? My eating habit tonight was a Boca grilled burger patty, big ole green salad, and an ear of corn. Thankfully I did *not* buy cookies yesterday.

Dottie's butt looks like she is trying to smuggle a surfboard.

Me, too! This is really, truly awful. He's a whiner for sure—but honestly, I kinda don't blame him. He has zero happiness in his life. And what's his recourse now? He has no money, no clothes, no nothing. I honestly feel such sorrow for him. He's in a terrible situation that shows no signs of getting better.

Sean is a perfect example of learned helplessness.  He is too far gone. He will never learn to be able to take care of himself.

Yes, he does. He needs someone to offer him guidance in his life.

Maybe the hurricane is a blessing in disguise, a cleansing purge of all that hoard Sean was holding onto.

But man oh man, I do feel bad for him right now.  Where the heck does he even begin to build a new life?
