I cannot take Megan today, so, I will not be watching.  I will read the commentary about the show, today.  Megan is the absolute worst.

I think it's even more frustrating because there's another conservative at the table yet the contrast between the two couldn't be more obvious, especially during the interview with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Meghan is insufferable.

Megan is revolting.  I don't understand her at all.  45 trashes her father left and right, yet, she remains loyal to him.  It is like being a Republican is the only thing that matters to her.  If she was not so vile, I would feel sorry for her.

She even mentioned how her father has been the target of Trump's hate during the first segment but apparently getting "wins" for her party trumps (see what I did there?) common decency, integrity, ect. Her loyalty remains with the Republican party - insults hurled towards her father be damned. It's pretty pathetic and sad.

For whatever reason she has made being a Republican her sole identity.  She lives and breathes it.

So much YES to both of these! Articulate and forward with her views while still being objective and open to other’s views, and not screeching like a howler monkey. If they can’t get Ana to replace Meghan (which they probably won’t, I’m sure she doesn’t want to move from Miami), then they should hire her instead.

It more than that.

She believes she is some Republican political expert on all things political and any and all political questions need to answered by her.

As soon as I saw previously recorded--not to mention the opening with the video of Maxine Waters yet again--I maxed out, too. Meh-gun is too vile and hostile for TV period, but especially not first thing in the morning. As they say, one rotten apple can spoil the whole batch, and that's what's happened with this show.

I wish Joy still had her HLN show so I could jump ship on The View altogether.

This is bad enough,  but she doesn't even seem to be an informed Republican. She's so busy trying to suck up to the Republican in-crowd that she can't be persuasive--all she has is sloganeering.

Sorry not sorry Meghan but Alex Jones does need to be included in the discussion about Republicans being unhinged.  Trump has appeared on his show.

Exactly.  How is Alex Jones not the most obvious choice for a discussion about being politically unhinged?

Didn't realize that all my responses were to @blondiec0332! Way to be on point!

I have to say, I really enjoy the Republican guest hosts who have kept their integrity above party. They, to me, have been the most fair in their criticism of both sides in a manner that doesn't include a 'but'. There are some issues that are too immoral to attach any kind of 'but' to it because it can only be seen as an excuse for the behaviour. You can't rationalize nasty behaviour and it reflects poorly on anyone who tries to 'explain it'.

You can see Meghan's defensive nature. The fact that she clarified that she isn't cult-like or a sycophant in response to her fellow Republican's comments...why so defensive? Tara still aligns with being a Republican but doesn't describe herself like that so it's obvious that she wasn't putting that label on each and every person. In fact, I think she was probably referring more to Republicans in office. You aren't that important Meghan.

Alexandria is such a beautiful young woman and I mean that in mind and heart. Not sure how far her intentions will go but I was so glad that she was on the show and had the opportunity to correct Meghan's reference to her as a socialist. Unfortunately, I wish they had time for her to make the distinction.

I understand they need to have a conservative on the panel, but why do they always pick the idiots?

I've been pondering this.  Why do they (we) need a conservative on the panel?  They seem to be arguing about politics more and more.  If they eliminate "the conservative" (any conservative), the topics might be more wide-ranging and the cross-talk and negativism could be minimized.    P.S.  Actually, a panel of four is more workable...especially when there are guests.

I agree.   The View, as first envisioned, was about women from different walks of life.  Mothers, single professional women, women of different ages, races, ethnic groups, religions. they talked about  issues that concerned them.  There was no need to have a "token conservative"  to explain a political position every fuckin' day. It wasn't a political show, it was a s how by, for, and about women.   I'd love for them to go back to that idea.  Whoopi, Sara, Sunny and Joy might all be "liberal", but they don't all agree on everything.  and they don't speak as though what they say represents the democratic party, they just give their own opinions.

And really - Meghan, you can stop telling us you're a republican, we get it.

This is a joke that would work on (probably) only one show.  Every time Meghan says, "I'm a Republican," each panelist holds up a little paddle-sign (roughly the size of those on Dancing With the Stars) that gives the registered party of the person holding the sign.   "I'm an Independent"   "I'm a Democrat"     "I'm a Democratic Socialist"   or better ones...

On another day each of them could hoist their coffee mugs and take a drink.

Remember that little video I want you to create--Meghan's signs of crankiness?  Sneering.  Cutting her eyes left and right.  Getting redder, etc.     Video #2 should be clips of all those, "I'm a Republican."  We would enjoy the different tones of voice, outfits and hair...that hair!   By now, that would probably be a feature-length film.

RHJunkie. She was on Colbert and explained her stance. Lovely woman.

Thanks to the poster who earlier gave feedback address to abc, I used it at the time and it made me feel better.  Maybe the very funny Sebastian Maniscalo will make today palpable for me.

I  wonder about the difference is in SF on the train because my girlfriend and would buy wine  (at the station which came in a classy small brown bag with a plastic glass) and drink it on the way home after a hard day of museum hopping and shopping.

Perhaps every other "personality" she attempted failed or backfired.   She probably thinks this one is working for her...she's a Republican pundit, a Republican analyst, a Republican talk-show host (thankfully they didn't win the Emmy), a Republican author, a Republican guest on other talk shows, a Republican military brat, married to a Republican blogger, has a relative in the Republican administration.  Geez!  She's a Republican success...at last!

I would think all the news about a future vacancy in the Supreme Court, backlash against Maxine Waters, etc.. would make Meghan be a little more laid back, but I'm going to guess that she still is the same dismissive person with a permanent frown on her face (isn't it odd that both she and Sarah Sanders both have permanent frowns on their face... nothing ages a face faster then always being unhappy).  I haven't watched yesterday or todays, but it sounds like Meghan is still being Meghan.

Didn't the show used to be about four or five women having coffee and just having discussions about politics, parenting, social behavior, and pop culture?  Even when Bitsy was on, she could at least enjoy the fun topics even if she screeched during the political discussions.  I'm hoping Meghan's story about moving to Montana if she gets fired was a subtle dig behind the scenes and rumors of her being let go.

The bright, pleasant, Republican Tara didn't let me down today...she was as enjoyable as ever.   As a Democrat (LOL), I could easily listen to her express her opinions and ideas on a daily basis, even though philosophically our baselines are fundamentally different.  She has the ability to differ without being argumentative, and can look objectively at her Republican counterparts.  Tara would, IMO, be a huge improvement over mopey Meghan.  ABC, please take note!

Tara is also a never Trumper.  I enjoy her on CNN. Megan can learn a lot from her. Being Black, I am fascinated to listen to conservatives of color like her.  There is another Black female Republican like Tara, her name escapes me, she is just as knowledgeable as Tara and is not a blind follower of her party. She has said that her party is no longer the party of the likes of Jack Kemp and Eisenhower.

I've going to have an unpopular opinion here about the woman calling the police about the permit for selling water. Okay, she over-reacted and was being stupid. But getting death threats and losing her job? Now who is over-reacting and being stupid. FFS. I think it's a bitch move to egg on the woman, videotape her and then post it to social media. In this climate of crazy it's downright dangerous.  It must be much more newsworthy than the guy getting sucker punched and then robbed by bystanders. But that doesn't fit the narrative, does it?

ETA: Just finished that bit and saw that we wasn't fired, but resigned (probably due to harassment). Because harassment to that extent is much more socially acceptable than being a white twat who calls the cops. I hate people.

I think that it is because she was harassing an eight year old girl. I don't agree with the death threats that she has received.  There was no need for her to pick on a child.  She was just selling water. The little girl was showing entrepreneurship and was actively trying to help her mom who had lost her job. Permit Patty was just being a bitch for no reason.

I'm watching the DVR of today's show right now and noticed exactly what you did!  Why does Meggie always, always scowl??  Is her pampered little life so aaaaawwwwful that the hateful face is her go-to?  Like when your mother told you not to cross your eyes because they might get stuck like that?

And her saying, "I'm still speaking" when she was talked over was pricele$$!!!!!!   That is all she EVER does, just bulldozes over anyone who's speaking because, I guess, she's used to cutting to the front of the line.  But god forbid when anyone does that to her!  Bitch.  The only one she defers to at all is Whoopie, and now that Whoops is baring her teeth at her highness lately, let's see how long MM will show any respect to WG.

I think I've figured out why Megs is so tolerant of DT, no matter what he said about her own father.  She and POTUS are of the same stripe; yammering egomaniacs who refuse to give an inch, no matter what facts are right in front of them.

I was not familiar with Tara before today.   Her approach really highlights MM's weaknesses.  I agree MM was being condesceding.  She actually said something along the lines, of  is socialism the direction the democratic party is going?   That's when Alexandria replied that there is a difference between democratic socialism vs socialism, and that she doesn't wake up thinking of herself has a democratic socialist.    When she asked the question does anyone wake up calling themselves a capitalist?  Joy responded Trump does, but I really wished she had called out MM.  Because MM's identify is wrapped up in being a Republican.

I think MM is going to hammer the term, "socialism" ad nauseum whenever a democrat comes on.

We need Elizabeth Warren to come on and explain it to her, so the panel can counter MM whenever she  brings  it up as a gotcha to the dems.  Over and over and over.  And talk over her as often as possible.

I need to sit in the audience and shake my head to counter whatever MM says, since apparently she believes the random audience over Sunny, an experienced, educated lawyer, on legal issues (not that I have any legal background,  but that doesn't matter to MM does it?).

Yes, why would she bother herself with a kid selling something?  On the way home I saw 2 little girls selling lemonade.  Wonder if I should have asked for their permit?

I would say Permit Patty is pretty low on the jerk meter though.  More things worthy of outrage.  She’s a nitwit, is all.

Socialism is a trigger word for her 'tribe' so of course she will grab onto it. It's the usual straw man that she loves so much. Let's call them socialists so we can knock it down! Don't worry about honesty while debating, use rhetoric and every other fallacy so loved by the 'master debater.'
