I don't know how across the board that pronunciation is in Canada (e.g. how a person's name Regina would be pronounced [in the U.S. I've heard both, but the "gee" pronunciation more frequently]), but I know that's how the city is pronounced.

In the UK, it's also pronounced with the long i.  Takes some getting used to.

Once again, I had no clue as to FJ!  I believe I answered the Federalist Papers.  I don't even know what those are!

I am a huge RPDR fan so I was tickled to see her give clues.  Who knows if Alex will be a judge???  Maybe he'll be a mentor, or there will be a musical Jeopardy!  or he'll show up in Snatch Game.

Some Like It Hot is my favorite movie, but I didn't know Billy Wilder hired a drag queen as a consultant.  How very cool.

I've climbed to the top of a couple of lighthouses, but not Little Sable (it's on the grounds of my favorite beach, though!). Too out of shape to do that anymore, and climbing those tiny twisty steps are not my idea of a good time. 

Rex made an impressive run at the end, but I was happy Kate won. Ironic that she didn't answer "Kate" for the Shrew Clue. Wonder if she didn't like her name being in that play (neither would I)

RuPaul is a drag queen and actor.  He identifies as a gay man, but doesn't really care what pronouns people use to/about him.  Out of drag, he's quite attractive; in drag, he/she is magnificent.

The Federalist Papers are:
A series of essays, anonymously published
Defending the document to the public

And they were written by:
Alexander joins forces with James Madison and John Jay to write a series of essays 
Defending the new United States constitution
Entitled The Federalist papers
The plan was to write a total of twenty-five essays
The work divided evenly among the three men
In the end, they wrote eighty-five essays, in the span of six months
John Jay got sick after writing five
James Madison wrote twenty-nine
Hamilton wrote the other fifty-one

Actually, didn't she say "Katherine"? According to my memory & wikipedia, her name is KatherinA, not Katherine. From wikipedia's cast of characters for The Taming of the Shrew:  Katherina (Kate) Minola – the "shrew" of the title

So she should have been considered incorrect.

This version of The Taming of the Shrew on Amazon has it as Katherine, and I found SparkNotes and CliffNotes that say Katherine. Interesting to learn that some versions have Katherina too! I'm on a mad hunt to see if I can find any photos of pages with the name from "before all of our time."

The play has the line “They call me Katherine that do talk of me,” so I always thought her full name was Katherine.

(BTW, I saw Taming at the Globe Theatre in London back in 2012, and it was fantastic! Best twist that made the whole audience react was the fight she and Bianca have as they are introduced. In the unscripted stuff before the father interrupts, Bianca is giving it to Kate just as hard, if not more so, than the reverse. But, she sees Daddy first and turns into the sweet, innocent, abused sister on a dime, leaving Kate as the bitch hanging out to dry. Everyone went “Ooooooh,” and had a completely different take on Bianca for the entire play.)

I tried to find my complete works of Shakespeare from college, but couldn't, so I did the next best thing, I went to Google docs and found  a pdf of a 1908 textbook with the play, and she's listed as Katherine:  The Taming of the Shrew.

My professor for my Shakespeare class (where I got the complete works I can't find) used to read lines in Hamlet in a variety of ways, and gave me the many of the same kinds of "Oooh" moments.

Shakespeare was not consistent on the spelling of his own name (Shaxper?) so I would allow some leeway for the names of characters.

So, the (former) champ has 15900, the (new) champ has 15800, woman on the end has 5600. Why does woman on end bet everything except 1? If new champ had bet it all and lost and ex-champ had bet only what she needed to do (15701) and lost, woman on the end would have won if she had saved 200 instead of only $1. Which, of course, brings up the question of why did the ex-champ bet all 15900? As it turned out, new champ did not bet everything (even if he had, at least he got the question right), but still....

Aw, Kate didn’t know the song “ The Lees of Old Virginia”. Heh, I do have a feeling most American history about the American Revolution, I know/remember is because of 1776 and Hamilton. 

Sigh. Randy was a bit exhausting to watch.

Generally, I'm not bothered by a lot of contestant quirks/tics mentioned here but as soon as today's show started, I was like, "Oh no! Middle dude wrote his name quirky, doesn't have an inside voice, and is recklessly guessing. He is TOAST on the forums!"

Hey, Randy, this is Jeopardy, not Wheel of Fortune!  You really don't need to shout.  I promise.  I hope he tones it down a bit for tomorrow's game.

Took me a second for FJ -- I initially thought the center of Africa as well, but changed it to the correct answer just before time ran out.  Unlike end girl, I had time to write the whole thing down. 

I was distracted enough by the shouting that I only managed to write down the TS of pawpaws.  We have them here, too -- I don't much care for them.

Yeah, quirky is like peppy for me. Sometimes it doesn't bother me, if the contestant is otherwise charming, but in this case Randy seemed very "extra" and less charming than he obviously thinks he is. I'll give him credit for the FJ, though. I would have stood there a long time before I thought of that.

That always stuns me, I don't get the logic. When I'm on this show and in a distant third, I'm betting zero.

Thanks to comments here, I checked out Kate's clothes. LOVED her print dress with red cardigan. She was wearing what I would wear.

Randy should be getting more heat here for how he must have spent 20 minutes drawing his NAME. And I've never noticed shouters before, even when they are discussed here. But Randy ... holy cats. Tone it down buddy. After one of his shouted answers I heard someone else who was mic-ed give a big nose snort at his screaming. Made me laugh.

For FJ I also said center of Africa but knew I was wrong because the center can't be in two places. Poor Alyssa, she not only ran out of time, she got smoked on the buzzer. But her FJ bet makes me think she's maybe not 'all that.'

I also got the TS paw paw. Side note: There is a town not far from me named Paw Paw.

First I’d like to say that I don’t even know what paw-paw(s) are. Fruit or berries? That ruined me from clearing the category. Drats. I got Word of mouth, auricle, and native son for the TS’s. Otherwise I did pretty well. I did have to turn down the tv more than usual. I also got a laugh when Randy guessed The Monkeys and looked so shocked that he’d gotten it right. 

Kate takes a first date to the cemetery? Uh ok. She’s right that it’s weird...quirky unless you’re visiting the ones in New Orleans (or Père Lachaise...oops almost forgot Alex would have a field day saying that. Surprised he didn’t ask if she’d ever been there).

Randy is extremely flamboyant. I joked to my husband that he is a "flaming straight man." He's the sort of guy who would coach the SHIT out of the high school theater department.

(I have no idea whether Randy is straight, gay, or bi, I just found him to be quite "extra" unrelated to any particular gender/sexuality expression...I don't want to offend anyone with my use of "flamboyant")

We should start a new show... with perfect contestants. I have a list of standards (no board hopping, excellent wagering, etc.) At the very least, we'd focus on non-quirky non-shouters.

Even my dog was annoyed at Randy and gave him the white eye AND side eye. (And she's the easiest going soul ever.)

Perhaps a specialist in fragrance requires such an acute sense of smell and penmanship that there's an equivalent dip in the sense of sound?

I sorta miss the Austen daze.
