The Lonely Js Club: Jason, James, Jackson & Johannah

Message added by Scarlett45,

Discussing the charges against Jana is fine, but do not post any information that reveals her address/contact information- even if said documents are public (i.e. a part of court proceedings.)

Discussing charges against Jana is NOT a jumping off point to speculate on other instances abuse/neglect etc towards the M-children or to elaborate on Josh's conviction and potential victims.

Forgot to add:  After seeing this picture, there may be some truth in what I read about the male son's hairline is from the maternal grandfather.

There is.  Male pattern baldness is carried on the X chromosome, and males get X from mum and Y from dad.  (Though mum could have gotten the gene from her mum or dad; doesn't have to be her dad.)

It never occurred to me that JD was carrying the guilt that he wasn't able to protect his sisters, but that could well be the reason for his palpable sadness, particularly since we now know the abuse continued for years.

It probably takes everything he has in him not to beat the living crap out of Smuggar.  The TH that JD did where he basically said he no longer looked up to his brother was really sad to watch.  That responsibility for being "the good son" must weigh on him heavily.

Honestly, I would bet that none of them even consciously thinks of this as anything that calls for apology at this point. I expect that the whole family is so brainwashed by JB's and M's loud and long-term lies, denial and distortions of the mess that they think of the Ashley Madison thing as his key and only real crime. The other is something that they've all been trained to completely ignore (not that it isn't festering in most of their brains, down below the conscious level, of course).

You'd think said sister would twist his ear a little.  I know in MY family, all the girls take possession of the unmarried males (without stripping them of their masculinity of course).  Just seems like Jana would say, "oh NOOOO you didn't.  You are NOT wearing that hot mess.  Did you look in a mirror today?  Brush your hair!"  And maybe she does - But then that leads to the assumption that he doesn't care one way or the other, which is exactly the vibe I get.  So I wonder...is KJB in charge of procuring mates for the male children as well as the female?

Maybe it comes down to the male dominance and a woman never correcting men. They know there's a problem, what it is and how to fix it, but can't because they would then be leading a man. I swear, I'd be so frustrated in their cult!

Not to defend Josh, but more to defend Joy; we don't know that Josh hasn't apologized to her. And we don't know that any of the girls want a public apology from Josh to them, or that they want this brought up in the public over & over.

Could he apologize to the public for being a hypocritical asshole? Sure. Not that most would accept it, nor would it make a dent in most people's opinion of him.

The tone of the last season wasn't exactly forgiving toward Josh, and you are correct, we don't know, an Inquistr article alleged it.

Ya, cuz I doubt the Inquistr has insider knowledge to what the Duggars say to each other.

I seem to recall that Josh kind of DID apologize for being a hypocrite - or acknowledged it, anyway. Of course, he initially blamed Satan...

Whether I was the transgressor or one of his victims, I would be well past wanting the incidents brought up in public over and over. I was already cringing at all the references to"Josh-you-a" and walking through his mess, on J&J: CO. Enough already. Work that shit out in private.

Of course, I suppose the premise of TLC and the Duggar 'rents is that (presumably) there's a big tv audience that craves having them not work it out privately but on the TeeVee screen for all to savor. Dunno if that's true or not. But given what seemed to be endless on-air rehashing of this stuff (I gather -- don't watch so maybe I'm off base here) somebody thinks that it's ratings gold. Or a great godly example. Or something.

What Josh did to his sisters was unconscionable...he violated their innocence and their trust with his sly and predatory behavior...and to add insult to injury,  he basically got away with it because he was the favorite child , a male child (in Gothard speak this means woman's fault) and managed to avoid legal prosecution.

What he should have done was to say that even though he's technically innocent under the law because of his age at the time, that what he did was no less vile and predatory because his actions stole the innocence of his four sisters and the other girls (at least one or two more) and traumatized them and made them live with this shame.

He can blame Satan, the tenets of his religion, his sheltered home environment all he wants to, but his public image will never improve until he admits that he screwed up. Saying that Jesus forgave you, Josh, does not remove the "earthly consequences" of your actions.  The Apostle Paul is VERY clear about this. Cop to this part as well, and you'll get more respect from the public, that you realize you don't get an all day pass...because Jesus.

Even after extensive public shaming for the molestation and the adultery/porn scandals, Josh-u-a, you DID these things regardless of what you think ultimately drove you to do them. The courts call that 'intent'.  Your FRC position on abortion would have been that regardless of circumstances, it's still a 'choice' that shouldn't be made; you would also claim that homosexual orientation is a 'choice'.  However, when it comes to explaining YOUR behaviors, it's anything but a 'choice'. We'd believe that if someone held a pistol to your head and forced you to molest your sisters, commit adultery, and watch porn.

Though adultery and watching porn (as long as everyone is of legal age) are not technically illegal, no one would really care that you did those things, particularly since it's a way of life in Hollywood and a good part of suburbia. Had you not made it your life's work to deny women access to birth control and other matters of reproductive decisions and to marginalize and demean the dignity and humanity of the LGBTQ community, then we too would have looked the other way.

Your sin has found you out as the old pastoral admonition says...deal with it.  But still, even to this day, you seem to show no remorse for your choices and actions. The first step to your redemption would be showing us some remorse and being accountable for your actions.  You know, "accountability " should be a word you're well familiar with. It's more than just snitching on your siblings. Your moniker, Smuggar, is richly deserved.

Until you realize, you have harmed your sisters, the other young ladies  and poor Anna, all the talking heads on your behalf on TLC mean nothing. You have also poisoned the family brand, so the lonely Js are now going to stay lonely longer.

Sorry, I thought I was on the SmugAnna thread.

I absolutely hope Josh feels remorse for hurting his loved ones and is demonstrating it in his daily life. And I wasn't considering his FRC work when i posted above. It would be nice to see a public apology for his attempts to limit the rights of his fellow citizens. His efforts seemed based on thinking that opportunities to "sin" should be legislated away. Which - yeah. Who is he to judge? The initial acknowledgement he made was very weak in that regard.

But I still think the family issues should be private at this point. I can't believe the victims were comfortable about it being publicized at all. Anna looked like she wanted to die in her talking heads. And I keep thinking of Anna's kids googling their dad someday (I hope they get the chance!). Let those involved do the work they need to - privately. Focus on the issues and try to forget about their stupid "celebrity" status.

The "hypocrite" bit referred to his extra-marital activities, NOT the molestations.  We know that he had to confess his sins to his congregation, but we were never privy to any personal apologies to his sisters or other victims.

eta: The DUGGARS chose to publicize the molestations with the well-prepped Megyn Kelly "interviews." You know, either Jill or Jessa could have mentioned how Josh apologizing made forgiveness easier  But the way they presented it, it was on the girls to pray to forgive. Other than church confession and 3 months of construction work, did he ever take responsibility for those CRIMES? As we now know, he certainly doesn't feel the need to apologize for that or really anything he's done. Because Satan. He will never grow up, and he will never change no matter what he is trotted out to say in the series.

The whole Josh thing as described in these posts just typifies Duggar culture to me -- fearful of everything, including all your own impulses; lazy; and all about the cosmetic. Leads to shallow lives with plenty wrongdoing both petty and serious that nobody takes responsibility for -- and then a helping of self-righteousness ladled on top.

No one is blaming the girls. And we really have no idea whether Jill and Jessa CHOSE to do those interviews, or whether their parents pushed them into it to shine up the family image. Remember, at that time even Jill was still under KJB's thumb, living large in the McMansion (although she did leave for their first stint in Danger America not long after). Jessa and Ben are wholly reliant on him. I don't think these girls had much choice at all, and it was clear that they were heavily coached in their responses to what were clearly softball questions.

IMHO, if you need a cherry picker to work on a children's playhouse, it is WAY too high off of the ground!

The repairs/additions seem to be wooden braces between the telephone pole stilts/supports.  Maybe it was swaying with the combined weight of the howlers and their jumping around?

My momdar goes off every time I think about this playhouse.  Seriously.  These kids don't know how to play safely inside the TTH.  This thing is an accident waiting to happen...

Oh my sweet heavens, Marjorie was clearly expecting a new series called Marjorie And Counting, wasn't she? As for their explanation of "courtship", it boggles the mind how much their religion is based on a gross misrepresentation of how the rest of society functions.

And Josiah confirmed that TLC was filming them. Now, we know that Marjorie is hanging with Jessa and Sierra (see the Friends thread), but is she persona non grata at Chez Duggar now?

JinJer didn't even tell everyone to watch their relationship blossom on TLC. But they KNEW that was their future. I just find the dynamics between Josiah and Jinger's announcements so jarring. Jeremy is no theater kid, but he's outgoing enough to be a "preacher," so it's not like he's a major introvert; if he's marrying into this crazy, he WANTS the attention that comes with it.

TLC has a video up: Jana and Jason Talk Produce.  Jason is quite glib and at ease in front of the camera. As usual, Jana seems ill at ease, shy or something. They're claiming Jana has planted a garden. But I'm pretty sure none of the fruits and veggies on display were grown in it.

Who did Jana officially mother? I thought that Jana had Jason, Jackson, and Josie and Jinger had Jedidiah and Johannah.

Jana is either tiny or Jason hit a growth spurt.  Jason at least seemed sincere when talking about Jana's banana bread. It was all scripted but nice to see him complimenting her.

I found this which is taken from an early chat with Michelle explaining the buddy system.

'Joshua, our 16 yo son, his buddy was Joseph... But now Joseph no longer needs a buddy Jana, my oldest daughter (14) has two buddies...she begged for the second buddy 4 yo Jason and then the new baby, Jackson awww Jill, my 13 yo daughter, has two buddies...Joy-Anna (almost 7) and James (3). Joy thinks that James is her buddy and Jill is just her assistant to help with James!:) And then Jessa, 12, has two buddies (Jeremiah, one of the twins, who's five and Justin, the one and a half year old). And of course Jeremiah thinks Jessa is just his assistant to help him take care of Justin. LOL! And then Jinger, our 10 yo, has one buddy: Jedidiah, the other twin (5) I really like that buddy idea And then John-David (14), twin to Jana, his buddy is Josiah, who is 8...but Josiah's old enough that he doesn't really need a buddy any longer. I think that covered everyone!'

Yeah it covered everyone Michelle, left you plenty of time to be joyfully available to the Boob.

That being said, at least Jason seemed marginally more comfortable with the knife than Jessa did. Whether that's a good thing or a bad one, I'm not entirely sure...I'll just hopefully assume it means he occasionally helps in the kitchen.

1. On the Marjorie and Josiah video: Good grief that was an awkward courtship announcement, but Marjorie was more than ready to take over the reins of the show, she had the "just wait and find out" teaser down pat. She would have definitely been the one to wear the metaphorical"pants" in the relationship with Josiah. Smuggar looked extra roly poly and pasty. I wonder how she feels about him for ruining her chance at "stardom." I will say she seems to have a little more personality than any other Duggar. Also, dating with a purpose? Sorry to tell you, but when I date, I definitely have a purpose. Companionship, someone to go to the movies with, entertainment, sex (guilty ?? and no regrets), marriage, the list goes on, but I have never met anyone who doesn't have a purpose. I wonder how many other failed courtships there have been in this family.

2. The Duggars making a video on vegetables is the biggest internet FU yet! Of course none of these kids can handle a knife, but I'm sure they're all experts with that can opener.

Oh my, that courtship video.  Marjorie has the "courting is dating with a purpose"™ spiel down verbatim.  She doesn't miss a word or skip a beat.  It would have been nice to hear HER point of view, not the Duggars.
