James Norton and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will star in a show about Harold of Wessex vs William of Normandy, called King and Conqueror. As a devoted fan of the British monarchy, let me just say that I hope good king Harold sees that French bastard off properly. Wait, I've just been handed an update. Long live King William! Harold was Anglo-Saxon, thus of German descent. And we don't want any Germans near the throne, do we? Er, hang on, what's that? Oh dear.

OTOH, regicide, setting his family on the throne. Must feel like coming home for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. :)

All joking aside, I'm interested at this stage. We'll see how it goes.

Okay, now THIS is something I wanna see.  I do quibble a bit with the notion that neither man had any design on the British throne.  Because they both did, hence the actual invasion and Harold's resistance.

This sounds interesting. I’m only Team Will because he was the great nephew of one of my fav historical figures - Emma of Normandy.

I'm intrigued.  I'd be curious who they end up casting as Harald Hardrada of Norway.  If not for Hardrada (a fascinating character in how own right) Harold would have probably defeated William.

Probably. It's too bad he didn't any time to celebrate victory over Hardrada. I agree that dude was awesome. Not just defeating him but killing him in battle was a huge victory.

In 'hmm' news, the James SA Corey book series, the Captives War, is being adapted for TV. You may recognise JSAC as the creators of the Expanse.

I read the first book a few months ago and it was good, but didn't really click for me.  The basic premise, here's a planet full of humans doing its thing. Aliens invade and take people useful to another planet, tell them to do their useful thing for us now. The focus is on a group of scientists. Somewhat inspired by the Book of Daniel from the Bible.

It isn't just people staring into microscopes for half the book, there's also the usual interpersonal drama and trying to understand exactly what's expected of them. Anyway, I'm somewhat curious at this stage, but I haven't quite bought into the hype. A project to watch.

I thought moving it to HBO was a mistake in the first place. It needs to be somewhere all kids can see it, not just people with fancy cable. The original point of the show was to reach kids who weren't getting early reading education, wasn't it? It was supposed to be set in a neighborhood with kids who weren't getting programmed for in general.

I haven't watched it in decades, so I don't know what it's like now.
