msblossom March 5, 2015 Share March 5, 2015 I agree, plus I don't think that I would actually believe any apology they tried to come up with. In my opinion he's not sorry, and won't be. He might be sorry he posted it, sorry that it got so public, sorry that other people didn't think it was funny, maybe even sorry the Duggars didn't like it (if they didn't), but I can't think of anything he could say that would make me believe that he's sorry for scaring and/or hurting the cat. He showed a very bad flaw in his character there, in my opinion, and he may well be better off saying nothing. I want to agree with you, but I can't. Who among us has done something willfully agregous and been truly sorry about it later? I know I have. That said, if Derick is sorry, he should apologize. But, I'm not holding my breath. 1 Link to comment

I have strong doubts this is the case for Derick in this situation, but even if it is any apology is going to come off sounding really insincere by the time it gets through the PR and Production people. Maybe he'll just go rogue and post an actual apology in his own words - not holding my breath either, but we can hope. 2 Link to comment
Vaysh March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 (edited) Actually, the bible doesn't address masturbation. It addresses lust, and without going into detail, I believe one can practice the former without indulging the latter. From what I've read there are quite a few denominations that still interpret the story of Onan as a story about masturbation and believe that "spilling your seed" is sinful and against God's will. This somehow translates into masturbation = evil whether it's a man or a woman doing it. Considering how literal fundies and the patriarchal movement are when reading the Bible I have a feeling that the Duggars fully embrace this interpretation. As for Gothardites, they also seem to have adopted a lot of Victorian ideals (the ideas on courtship, separation of the sexes into extreme gender roles and so on) so I wouldn't be surprised if they've embraced the Victorian obsession with and view of masturbation as something dirtybadwrong as well ("hands on the cover!", "it will make you go blind", the invention of corn flakes...). I honestly see the constant company of their siblings and "accountability partners" as a way to keep the kids from wanking. Of course it's not the only purpose, not even the main one, but I definitely think it plays a part, especially with the boys. And even if it's not intentional, how easy is it to have time for some self-love if you're constantly surrounded by nosy younger siblings? No wonder they have short engagements... Barb23 March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 I was just looking on Jill & Derick's FB page. They posted more pictures from the visit to OSU. The tight shirt we were all snarking on Jill wearing was given to her by Derick's college roommates as a wedding gift so she definitely wasn't wearing a larger shirt or one of Derick's. It says Mrs. Pete on the back, which is kind of cute. I didn't see the newest pregnancy picture though. I guess the roommates didn't realize Jill will be pregnant most of her married life & should have gotten her a larger sized shirt. I like the Mrs. Pete too. Re: Catgate. I'm still hoping for it to show up on an Inside Edition type show but it's not looking good. Does anyone know how these types of shows work? Do they have to get permission from those involved? Marigold March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 (edited) I was IFB. Yes, it is considered a sin. From how I understood it, not because you are spilling your seed but because of the lust or sexual thoughts going on in your head in order to get the job done. That would be violating Jesus teaching that you should not look at a woman with lust. It is believed that masturbation is often paired with pornography etc. Edited March 6, 2015 by Marigold 1 Link to comment

I doubt they ever had a pet as we think of them. They certainly don't show any real feeling for the animals we have seen them with on the show. Not to mention that Boob had enough trouble keeping all those kids fed for a long while. I can't imagine he'd pop for pet food too. Would they have received "pet food love offerings?" Maybe, but I can also see church friends thinking THAT was a bit beyond the pale... Link to comment
Micks Picks March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 I've seen the kittens epi and I think I saw a poor neglected dog once, but certainly not part of the storyline. They had a trip to farm or something once or twice and those delicate older girls had their noses in the air, stepping oh so carefully, no inclination to pet any animals. So I guess they just aren't animal friendly, only baby friendly. Well if they only want to have their hands in poop, and wipe drool and snot, more power to them. And lucky for the animals they don't have. It's their loss. Link to comment

ChicksDigScars March 6, 2015 Share March 6, 2015 (edited) I have no idea why or when I started doing this but I use "excuse me" with my dog all the time, and he does in fact get out of the way. Mine know "MOVE." Usually because I nudge them with my toe, step over them, or bring the Dyson right up to their noses as I say it, and they jump out of the way. Like any repeated command, they are eventually conditioned to do what you want them to do. Now, a command of "move" means MOVE to them. They're Labs. They're in the way A LOT. :) Topic: So. it's March 6. How many days until she pops? She must be two weeks out from having to go out back and camp out by the manger, right? The white in the center of the flag is supposed to represent peace between those native to Ireland (the green which goes closest to the flag pole) and those who settled in Northern Ireland, and were mostly Protestant (the orange). I wonder if he notices how good and contemporary she looks al the time and sees the difference between her and his frumpy wife who is 10 years younger than Cathy, but you would never know it! His habitual absence makes it seem like he is not a part of Cathy's family. Derick's dad died while he was in college, so Cathy's new husband hasn't been in the family for very long. But that doesn't mean that Derick doesn't get along with him, it probably just means that Cathy's husband doesn't want to appear on TV. Nothing wrong with that. My own mother had her father die unexpectedly when she was in her early 20's, married and with a newborn child. She'll still tear up to this day over his passing, but she didn't treat her mother's new husband badly. He attended all family functions, and when we kids started calling him Grandpa she didn't stop us. She simply mentioned her own father and told us about him, but she understood that none of us ever knew him, and her stepfather really was a wonderful man. Having never been married before, we really were his only grandchildren. He'd light up when we called him Grandpa, but as we grew older and understood the ramifications of step vs blood relatives we all referred to him as "Grandpa <insert last name here>" when talking about him to our mother and her other relatives. But he was still Grandpa to us when we were with him. When Grandma passed away he was alone and my mom and her siblings that were in the area all took care of him. We found out later that Grandma was very depressed when she was widowed, and her adult kids were pleased when this new man entered her life and brought her happiness again. Until we find out otherwise, I assume that Derick and his brother have a good relationship with their mother's new husband, and they're honoring his wishes to stay of camera. (When Ozzy Osborne had his TV show, you'd have thought that he only had two kids, but the oldest child wanted nothing to do with the show and many people still don't know about her.) I think derickdillard's thumb in his pocket would indicate insecurity. I don't think he's quite as happy as Jill is with this event upcoming so soon, but he is absolutely forbidden to express this at all, even in private to his own wife....he looks a bit frightened to me. Also, Jill really needs to invest in some quality maternity wear....that overly tight shirt, (or two) she's wearing paired with that awful skirt looks bad. Zahdii March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 I'm so over the 'in your face' thing that so many pregnant women do. But the tight shirts emphasizing the baby bump, and then further emphasizing the protruding belly button seems so unnessary to me. We get it. You've had sex. You're pregnant. I blame Demi Moore. She was so desperate for attention that she posed for a picture for Vanity Fair and started a whole celebrity thing of similar photos. Yes, it was iconic, it got some traction, other celebs started a contest to see who had the best preggers/sexy/maternal photos and even today there are people posting similar photos, but enough is enough. We get it. You've had sex. You're pregnant, and here's the proof... I much prefer the people who wait until they're showing and then announce that a new arrival is coming at aproximately such and such date, give or take two weeks. Then they don't mention it in every conversation they make, or every post they make. While the pregnancy is a big deal for the parents to be, it borders on obnoxious for everyone else. Save some things for yourselves, don't broadcast everything to the entire world. Am I being old fashioned here? 10 Link to comment
Betweenyouandme March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 It doesn't bother me, but then again...I'm pregnant. I post about it a lot on here. I don't have any social media or many friends or a partner. Jill has never bothered me, but I guess I don't equate Jill showing her pregnant belly to equal sex more than someone, like Anna, talking about their biological kids who are already born. So much can go wrong in pregnancy..to me, every milestone is a blessing. That's just my biased opinion on it! 7 Link to comment
Readalot March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 This is why courtship fails. Trying to suppress natural hormones. Praying just going to take them away. Michelle a advice was terrible. Michelle and JB probably married young just like a ton of other christian couples to have sex. Just like Josh, Jessa, and Jill married for sex. Why not teach self control and realize that these feelings are normal. I bet Michelle shames her daughters into having the feelings. I can't imagine growing up in a cult like this having a crush or thinking about sex and then my whole family tells me to pray it away because it's sin. I wonder how Jill was on her wedding day. It's not a switch that can just turn on like that. I hope these kids do masturbate, but that's a sin in their cult. It's important for them to be in touch with their bodies. my dad was 25 and my my mom was 18 and when they got married. She told me she married young to escape her very strict upbringing (JW) and to have sex. She had me at 21, pregnant with my sister at 23 when my dad cheated on her and they divorced after my sister was born. And yet she still expected my high school boyfriend and I to get married right after HS graduation! We later did marry at 22, and will be celebrating our 25th in a few months. Jenniferbug March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 I don't think wearing a fitted shirt while pregnant is to advertise that they've had sex. I'm pregnant, I wear fitted maternity clothes because it's what's comfortable to me- not because I'm flaunting that my husband and I had sex or because I want everyone to pay attention to my belly button. There are few maternity shirts that aren't fitted and as far along as Jill is, even maternity clothes will be snug. And this is coming from someone who has taken 1 bump picture and made about 4 mentions of my pregnancy on social media in the 5 months I've been pregnant. 5 Link to comment

floridamom March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 We are talking about JillyMuffin here, and she IS an attention hog...she is simply over the moon that derickdillard did his duty while on their honeymoon. My opinion is that she is an attention hog about this as she is the first daughter to fulfill her life's mission...wed and bed.. I'm sure many normal, regular women out there are simply minding their own business in dressing how they feel comfortable..Jill, however, I beg to differ. 6 Link to comment
Absolom March 8, 2015 Share March 8, 2015 It looks like Cathy is still wearing a wig. It has that shiny wig look and I don't think she's had time for her hair to grow that long from the top to the end of the bob. Considering what Cathy has been through I think she looks good. She certainly looks better to me than at the wedding. She also is likely on prednisone and has put on a little weight that she needed. I think Jill would look a lot better in the maternity shirts with ruching. Too many of her tops look like she bought a regular top a size larger and is just stretching them out. Link to comment
