Jill, Derick & the Kids: Moving On!!

The boys in our family are slow growers who don't reach their full normal height somewhere between 18-21. My ex- late husband grew an inch after we were married he was 21. Both my sons didn't fully mature til after high school. They are not giants - both around 5'8". Grandson is 15 and just about 5'. Has been checked by doctor who did tests and said there is a lot of growth to come. So maybe that is what is going on with James. There was another Duggar boy who is smaller too. Maybe Josiah? I guess with that many kids its possible for variations. Or - like GeeGolly said - failure to thrive. Wouldn't he catch up from infancy if that was the case?

Why does this family put so much emphasis on the kids getting their Learners Permit (at 14) rather than concentrate on their schooling? I don't feel right letting a child that just mastered his multiplication tables not too long ago having to make spur of the moment decisions while behind the wheel. From what we've seen, the older ones haven't used their licenses to try to escape so why the hurry?

Michelle and Jim Blob need more people to do their bidding. Jim Bob owns a lot of land and vehicles. Michelle needs someone to do her Starbucks run every day and bring the kids to doctors appointments. Michelle isn't going to get off her fat ass and be a parent. That's the only reason any of these kids have a driver's license. Plus, it gives the illusion that they allow their children to have independence.

Having a driver's license gives you freedom, so if I was a Duggar kid I'd be camping outside the DMV on the eve of my 14th birthday to be the first one to take the test. I also know from experience (both with myself and my kids) that it's not an easy test to pass. The writing test in OH is a breeze compared to the AR one. You can also get a hardship license at 15 in AR so you can drive on your own. Arkansas is still plenty rural, although there are parts of Little Rock and surrounding areas that are congested. I don't know about NW AR, I imagine around Springdale and Fayetteville it would be the same thing. Still, I think getting driver's permits and licenses are a good thing for these sheltered kids. They probably fight over who gets to run to Starbucks for mom.

I know Derick's in deep doo doo for all this faux mission stuff, but it is nice to see him helping out James.

That age group (early to mid-teens) has a lot of variation when it comes to physical maturity, When I was in 7-9th grade I had male class mates who looked anywhere from ten to eighteen years old. Babyfaced little midgets and bearded beanpoles. Didn't Jim Boob say at some point that he was a bit of a late bloomer height wise?

I like James too, he seems far less robotic and bland than most of the other kids. I have to admit that while Jill drives me up the wall for a myriad of reasons, it does seem like her kids are the ones who have escaped early childhood with at least a hint of individuality (Jennie comes to mind) which tells me that she's probably a lot more nurturing and "safe" as a parent than Michelle. With Jill I get the sense that while her ideas and methods may be wrong due to ignorance, her heart is in the right place when it comes to kids.

WTF is wrong with these people?

I wanted to like Derick, I really did, and I've cut him a lot of slack because I don't think he really knew what he was getting into when he joined the Duggar circus, but every one of these dumb instagram photos of him lolling around the TTH makes my blood boil. All I see are the thousands of grandmas all over the country who decided that they could afford just a "little bit" out of their Social Security checks to help out this "nice young couple" who want to "serve the Lord."

Jill may be oblivious as to where the money comes from (God gives it to people to give to us?), but Derick isn't. Derick may be a grown man, but if I was Cathy Bynum, I would have read him the riot act by now. It was her reputation that got him a good job at WalMart, and he could hardly be bothered to show up for work. He gave up his plans to be an IBM missionary to hook up with some fly-by-night mission-cataion organization, and couldn't even hack that for 30 days. He has stood in front of the congregation of her church to beg for money for his "mission," with no intention of going anywhere.

I don't know how much TLC pays for a "special," but I can't believe it's enough to cover tarnishing your mother's reputation and destroying your own at the ripe old age of 25.

Wow - such a great post ! You bring up so many things to ponder...

What's wrong with these people ? They are delusionally, malignantly narcissistic, as un-self-aware as an inanimate object, tone deaf to advice or criticism because they are incapable of believing that anything they do is wrong, or bad, or not doing the work of the Lord himself. Add in that they are spoiled, ungrateful, flighty, hypocritical, and often just downright mean...

Now that I've just barely scratched the surface of what's wrong with them I need a nap !

As for the grandmas all over who are having their SS checks pillaged by the Duggrifters - I went through that years and years ago with my own grandma while she was in her last years and had started to deteriorate mentally. I took over her finances, quickly found that she'd made a ONE-TIME donation to a religious organization, or so she thought, but had actually, via the small print (What ?! Is this a disclosure for ANTS ?!?!) agreed to a WEEKLY donation taken straight from her checking account. I'm lucky that I have a background in credit/fraud/etc, and was, at the time, married to a lawyer, so I raised holy Hell, threatened to sue, and got back all of the money except for the initial amount agreed upon.

Those people weren't the Duggars, but they're all cut from the very same cloth - predatory, avaricious, lip-licking con men with no conscience and no sense of decency.

But, hey ! Those six-dollar lattes aren't gonna pay for themselves, right ?

If Jesus came back right now I think he'd make a beeline for Tonitown and start kicking some ass.

My late grandmother was the same way. Send her a solicitation with a cross or the Virgin Mary on it and you were getting a check in return. If she was alive she'd be exactly the type of person praising the Dullards for being such devoted Christians.

Isn't that just so sad ? They're like lambs to the slaughter, financially speaking, and there's really nothing you can do until they either give you control or you have no choice to simply take over.

Interesting that even after the revelations of the last two weeks or so there are STILL people on their IG, FB and "official" family blog falling all over themselves to praise them for being such dedicated, devoted Christian Missionaries !

Their "going away" party was TWO weeks ago and they're still here. And so is the "DONATE" button.

WTF ?

  • Love 3

The Daily Mail picked up the fake mission story and the comments are not favorable. I wonder if the Dullards will address the issue or wait for it to blow over.

Jessa's baby is due soon so they'll just wait for it all to blow over.

Must be nice to have your vacations paid for by someone else. What do these people do all day?

Curl and style their hair. The females in this family spend a majority of their time making themselves look pretty.

The Duggar logic algorithm is quite simple. Follow the money. If Jill and Derrick are staying for a spell, it's because they're making money. Money trumps all with this family.

Must be why I don't understand it, because money is not even close to the driving force in my life. :) I'm just glad people other than those of us on this website are starting to see how Jill and Derick really are.

  • Love 5

How can we miss you if you don't go away?

If I was them, I would be embarrassed. I don't think I'll ever be able to understand any of the Duggars' logic.

Haven't been here for a while, but wt actual fuck? They aren't even trying to pretend anymore. Donor refund: They know that it's unlikely many people will ask for refunds due to embarrassment or because they still believe the bullshit, but, as a PR move it provides them with something they can point at. The question should be..'why did you feel you owed donors a refund option?' How long have they been in the US vs CA since soliticing?  How do you file paperwork to get in on this? Asking for a friend. :)

From Pickles and Hairspray poster -- Another unconfirmed sighting of Jill/Der, now at the Atlanta City airport, waiting at the Guatemala City gate.

So has Jessa had the baby? It seems she must have, or else why would the Dillards wait all this time and then leave just before delivery with that midwife certificate in her suitcase.

I don't know. They have successfully confused the timeline in my mind. IMO, it seems like a MAJORLY wasted TV opportunity for Jill not to catch the Benessa spawn.

Whoa. I thought they were filming fake departure footage. maybe TLC doesn't wan Jill and Jessa in the same special - to see who the public likes more?

Oh well, Jill will be back by Thanksgiving. Gotta go while while CA beaches are still nice.

I can see professional Jill misdiagnosing false labor, too.

It would be hysterical if Jill misdiagnosed false labor, Jessa cancelled her appearance on Jill's "professional" advice and lost her speaking fee to her siblings, and then when Jill's mistake was realized, Jessa said, "You're fired as my midwife! Go back to Guatemala already!" and Jill finally did.

Hey, my conspiracy theory actually lines up with the timeline! LOL!

I think the fakery is in the pictures of the pink dotted pedicure Jessa posted on instagram on Friday where she claims Sierra insisted Jessa paint her toenails in "something cheery for labor."  That's an obvious lie meant to convince people she had NOT yet had the baby.

I think she has had the baby, and that is why Jill is hightailing it out of the country ... finally.

While this theory is hilarious I think Jessa wasn't allowed to get on the plane and had to come up with a lame excuse because they never are prepared.

But why wouldn't they have the baby plastered all over the internet already? Jessa sure loves her selfies and her prop errr I mean baby would be on Instagram by now!?

Cuz TLC & money?

I have never had a baby, but I'm fairly certain that if I'm pushing a human being out of my body, the last thing I'm going to be cheered up by is my nail polish unless it contains lickable painkillers.

Actually, having painkilling polish on the toenails would be torture, as I don't think it's possible for a woman to get a toe into her mouth during labor and delivery.  Now if that polish was on the fingernails...  Well, lets just say after my deliveries I'd have no fingernails left.

  • Love 6

I had an ex co-worker who was much like Jessa, actually worse, probably because she was raised in the real world. By the the 6th month of her pregnancy she had all her appointments made for her 9th month. Not medical appointments mind you, appointments for waxing, pedicure, and her hair. She was more worried of how she would look from literally head to toe than the baby's birth.

Circling back to the Refund button on the Dillard's "Mission" site, I wonder if they received legal advice to make that available?  And if people don't get around to asking for a refund in X amount of time, then the $$ is considered a gift?  If so, maybe they would then be able to spend it as they see fit, even if they dissolve their "ministry"?  Are they still taking new donations?
