One of the fundie tumblrs (DuggarData) is written by a lawyer who think Josh will get 14 years based on her reading of the sentencing guidelines.  At this point, I'm so relieved over the conviction that I'm not allowing myself any expectations over the verdict.

That's good to know! I got too nauseated reading the enhancements to try to do the math.

Jim Bob Duggar, Justin Duggar, and his wife, Claire (Spivey) Duggar just left together and didn’t answer questions, the Sun reporter noted.

Josh Duggar's lawyers plan to appeal his case.

"We respect the jury's verdict and we look forward to continuing this fight on appeal," one of his attorneys said outside the courthouse on Thursday.

I'm here at home by myself and I started clapping like a fool when I read the news!

I actually threw my hands up in victory.

GOOOAAAAAAAAL!!!!

I have the day off, so was able to find out the good news immediately, hanging out here. This whole affair has been schadenfreude overload! A thanks to everyone here for the fun snark during this process!

But I really need to see a perp walk 😁

the same one Jessa has been using the entire trial

I keep going back and forth between thinking Jessa is coming in through a more private entrance (I don't blame her at all) and thinking that the Sun is mistaking someone else for Jessa. After the whole Jed!/Jason thing, I feel like they have sketchy Duggar identification powers. LOL

Of course they spout the mandatory "we're appealing" line.  But will JB finally admit to the concept of sunk costs and close up the change purse?

Could it be additional things the judge knows about but weren't allowed in court?

Here's the official downlow on sentencing in federal criminal cases:

Quote

If the verdict is guilty, the judge determines the defendant’s sentence. During sentencing, the court may consider U.S. Sentencing Commission guidelines, evidence produced at trial, and also relevant information provided by the pretrial services officer, the U.S. attorney, and the defense attorney.

As I understand it the pretrial services or probation office will usually prepare a presentence report for the court's consideration. That will usually include the defendant's personal history and isn't limited to things that were admitted in evidence at trial.

Well to be fair - EVERYONE says that. Sure they will appeal but that doesn't mean the lawyer actually thinks they have any kind of legitimate appeal. It is just what you say and what you do when you have a client who is paying. When the checks start bouncing... the appeals will stop.

Reddit thinks they mistook Laura for Jessa the whole time, and there’s pictures of her there and zero of Jessa.

I really really hope he never ever did anything to his kids.

Even if it would make him go to jail for a longer time, I hope for the kids sake they didn't have to go through something like that

That was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the post where he questioned if they were talking about "transmitting or sending".  Other than that he didn't didn't under the word "transmit", I wondered if he was asking if they'd discovered that he was also sending it as well as receiving.

Similar to "has somebody been downloading child porn?"

So if Josh gets say 10 years now much of that will he actually serve before he gets early release?

Seems no matter what they get a few years and they're out!

Federal detention has some specific rules. With a year of good behavior, you get a certain number of days off your sentence -- it's around 50 days somewhere.....Ultimately, it means that you have to serve about 85 percent of whatever your sentence was.....

You have to serve 85% of a federal sentence, I believe. He'll be there a while.

I’m hoping that he serves long enough for Anna to hit menopause. If he only served 10 years, she could still have a few geriatric pregnancies once he was released (if he’s allowed to return home). All of his children would literally be adults by the time he is released.

At this point, I just wonder if Mack takes her siblings and runs when she turns 18 and leaves her mother behind to sit in a rocker and stare at the walls.

I can’t believe that with her husband on trial, Anna didn’t buy enough new dresses to wear a different one every day. Missed opportunity!

I was thinking, maybe right now the ugly brown shoes are all that fit and same with the dresses. Who knows why she does what she does.

Except the ticktock lawyer said they shook hands and she introduced herself as jessa....but yeah who knows.  The defense really should have used the "which Duggar, we can't tell defense, to argue some other Duggar did it"

And I've also seen people saying they think that Jana may also have been taken for Jessa one day......And on that too, there have been numerous photos of Jana. None of Jessa.

I think these people are right. "Jessa" was actually "Laura" and/or "Jana."
