GreekGeek June 2, 2017 Share June 2, 2017 All I could think of was Stanleyville for FJ and I was pretty sure it wasn't a national capital. (Plus it's no longer called Stanleyville.) I never heard of de Brazza. Excellent game with no dud players and very few TS's. I knew dowel, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and God Bless the Child. 5 Link to comment
CarpeDiem54 June 2, 2017 Share June 2, 2017 I liked Christie because she didn't start in the middle or at the bottom of categories. I agree, Trudeau screamed for a BMS. I got dowel, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and God Bless the Child. I really need to study all things African. I've been saying this for at least a year. I've never heard of the FJ answer. *hangs head in shame* 6 Link to comment
Browncoat June 2, 2017 Share June 2, 2017 I've heard of Brazzaville, but never would have come up with it in a million years. I said Stanleyville, too, Stanley being the only person I could think of. I got dowel, draft and Yankee Doodle Dandy. Overall a good game -- both boards were cleared! But of course I rooted for Christie because she started at the tops of the categories. 2 Link to comment
YoureSoUrban June 2, 2017 Share June 2, 2017 (edited) I third the wish for a BMS on "Trudeau", and I'm especially surprised proud Canadian Alex didn't call him on it. I'm so glad the dude on the end didn't win. He struck me as humorless and too intense. The only TS I remember getting is God Bless the Child. Had no clue on FJ; I recognize the name of the city but didn't know the country it's in. Edited June 2, 2017 by YoureSoUrban 2 Link to comment

Toothbrush June 2, 2017 Share June 2, 2017 (edited) Kerry's swaying drove me crazy! Unfortunate FJ wager by Lisette, but she took too long to choose clues and was kind of low energy so I'm good with the outcome. My TS were horses, wind, paratroopers, & Okinawa. We missed up until the contestant interviews on Thursday due to a newsbreak; the only TS I got was Yankee Doodle Dandy. I was sweating Joe's DD, and was relieved that he knew Tesla. illdoc June 2, 2017 Share June 2, 2017 My personal BMS moment was years ago. You had to name the Mayor of Chicago (probably who was mayor during the '68 convention) and the contestant answered "Daley". Alex "BMS" and the contestant said "Richard" (which was accepted). Of course, everyone laughed (both Mayor Daleys are named Richard (J. was the senior (correct) one, M. was his son (and mayor at the time of the question)). 4 Link to comment

All I could say over and over was, "That disgusting place that refused to allow women as members for freaking ever, the backwards sh*theads!" Maybe they would've accepted that? It's pretty specific! Totally agree about Davy Jones and Jerry Lewis. Alex hasn't trotted out the old "You're too young to know that," (though that's not exactly what he said but it was implied) in a long time - and it was still as irritating as ever! Going back a couple of days, I got Hoover because, as mentioned, president + engineer = Hoover, but I was second-guessing myself because the clue said the first chapter was Engineer: 1874-something. That threw me since I knew Hoover was born around 1874 so - he came out of the womb an engineer? Maybe he was a wizard with his blocks? Anyway, that confused me. And finally, I think Lisette was serious about looking young for her age. She appeared fairly unlined... but the hair was very aging! I know sometimes I will think I look "good" for my age and then tell myself I'm only kidding myself. Spunkygal June 3, 2017 Share June 3, 2017 Also, IMHO, the FJ responses should be totally complete to be ruled correct.
