Before Vatican II, all Protestants were considered heretics.

Vatican II completed its work in 1965, more than 20 years before Jeremy Vuolo was born.  Vatican II stated specifically that non-Catholics can and do enter the kingdom of heaven and that many faiths, including non-Christian ones, contain teachings and principles which are good and just.  It also encouraged all Catholics to study other faiths and to see the good in each of them.

My (non-Catholic) kids attended Catholic school. Religion class was required, including all four years at the high school level. In addition to CCD teachings, the students were also taught about other religions. I will add though, depending on the teacher, there were times biased comparisons were made toward other religions. I know this because from prior to entering Catholic school as non-Catholics, and periodically throughout their education, my kids and I had many discussions about respect of all religions and not personalizing any biased comments. One of my kids, a history buff, absolutely loved religion class.

Interestingly, my kids are not religious, though they always had the option to join any church, including the Catholic Church.

It too bad the Duggars have never had the same choice.

Are fundies not allowed to read anything that doesn't have God or Jesus in the title? For the Duggs and Dugg-adjacents, that appears to be the case.

Imagine trying to have a conversation with one of these folks. 'God' or 'Jesus' would be every other word. They don't know anything else.

Online, I always ask them “which ‘god?’ There are hundreds of different ‘gods’ worshipped around the world.” And that usually shuts them up, or throws them into a self righteous tailspin.

As a lifelong Catholic, I also love the current Pope.  Humble, well educated, aware of how real people live in this world.  And a great big heart for the poor.

Even (semi) accepting of LGBT, which is far more than can be said about hateful fundies.

'Who am I to judge?' he said.  Tell that to Jeremy and the rest of the gang at Masters Seminary.

I give this Pope props too, but he won't be able to overcome some very important human rights issues that the church vehemently disavows.

The areas that concern me are the areas Jin and Jer are likely aligned with.

It’s from May of last year. It’s a nice enough picture, but the hat, not so much.

Just dropping this off in case Jinger is perusing the boards.

That is actually very needed by me. Great idea for small dwellings.

Of course Jer managed to grift a big house. So no need for that storage bed.

Yikes - Jing needs to take her clothes out of the dryer more promptly.

Think she's trying for a Jordan/Nike gig?

Hahahaha good luck with that!

It looks like she's doing some Downton Abbey cosplay.

Such a pity that the girls still have to wear their cult-issued junior Handmaid’s costumes even while on vacation. I remember seeing groups of what I now know to be evangelical girls at amusement parks and at the malls, all dressed in long denim skirts, Keds, and Jesus Fest whatever year white t-shirts. I always wondered how uncomfortable it must be to ride a roller coaster in an ankle length jean skirt in 90 degree weather.

Oh maybe it is. I just figured EJ because the clothes and hair are different on the kid, but not on Jeremy.

It’s Felicity.  Evangeline is much smaller than that.

Funny you should say that, because I was about to make the joke about Jinger that I always used to make about Elizabeth (Lady Cora) McGovern: "The woman has one facial expression."

Trader Joes has good produce and some nice speciality items, but I have never thought of it as "high end".  Trendy, maybe, but not not expensive high end.  Their own brand wine, which has won many awards, is around $30 a case.
