S28.E03: The Replacements

Well, this episode happened. We didn't need more ARTO people. We did not.

I loved Sarah for the "shut up Johnny!" when he started to speak spanish to the new girl.

Also, bringing more people and keeping them around while they drink and drink and party isn't exciting tv to me. I really wished Wes's thoughts had been right during the dinner the new kids went to that there would be an elimination round of some kind. That would have been cool. Instead of hearing them talk and talk. Mostly Johnny and his Tale Of When Sarah Blindsided Me Awesomely and I Cried Sad Banana Tears About It.

Between the meltdown of the slutty skank that slept with Cuz and the idiot loudmouth new girl who berated a bunch of people at the end it's finally hit me that I'm too old for this show. These two scenes made me cringe. The challenge itself was disturbing and kind of funny.

The replacements were a HUGE disappointment. As was no jungle and drinks with the newbies. Wes was humorous though. "You mean you have a crush on me?" then something like "this always happens" really made me laugh. An altogether disappointing ep though.

The show is for sure losing steam. It's like they've already run out of things to do this season and we're already on episode 3. There was no reason to bring in new people really. A lot of people could just skip this episode or erase it from their DVR. Nothing happened. Except they brought in some random couple from AYTO, but if you don't watch the show you probably won't care. And also one girl like hid herself away in the bathroom at the club because she is hooking up with COUSIN and thought he kissed Jessica.  That is all.

Oh yay, more people I've never seen before from AYTO, more drinking and yelling. Lame.

I did enjoy Ashley calling out Jessica on her "who me? I'm just innocent over here giggling" moment. Can't stand people who act like that.  I also enjoyed the one girl's horror show eye makeup during the soap challenge - I think it was Briana.

Yeah, this cast is not very appealing, except for maybe as eye candy. That's the one plus with all the kids from that other show, they are all clearly cast the way that porn performers are cast.

But that means they also suck at acting. That scene that girl contrived about crushing on Wes was awful, IMO. It looked to me like he was corpsing because she was so unconvincing.

The non-twisty twist disappointed me, too. Nothing happened, and we had to re-recap two rival stories when they were having drinks? Really?

But the twists are generally a good addition, IMO. The show's just more fun to watch when the cast can't predict the game.

I like that the survivors from the jungle-duel-whatever-pit choose the order in the next challenge. Can't remember if that's ever been done before.

I don't think losers picking the order has been done before, which is a cool twist, actually. But the other twist in last night's episode is..not a twist. It's just the show already holding out on episode three because they don't want to lose another young pair from AYTO, that's where the new blood is at this point and the show knows it too.

Well, that was a waste of an hour.  Fifteen minutes on the delusions of a drunken floozy, and then thirty minutes on a stupid, non-sexy challenge that has no use at its end.  And the introduction of more people who we have never heard of from a show that apparently no one watches.  Bring back CJ?  Hell, bring back Kenny!  At least they were interesting.

Wes is actually funny. Who knew?

Ha, Johnny ? saying he wouldn't have done what Sarah did. Yeah, right! What a joke.

I agree with you other posters, more Auto people, snooze.  I was hoping it was CT.

I would have happily chipped in for airfare for them to fly Paula out to walk by and smack John on the head every time he pulls the "I never would have done that," line on Sarah.

New girl is exhausting.  You don't always have to be dialed up to 1,000, honey.  Calm the fuck down.

Only thing interesting about new AYTO would be if they band together for an alliance against the vets.

Is it true that winners of AYTO gets $1 million on that show?  If that's the case, then the losers from that show must be the ones cast on the Challenge for a second shot at money.

That soap challenge was dumb.  Sounds like some of the contestants are still hurting next week from it.

Nor sure if I need to see all those people humping the soap. Some of the facial reactions were too much, as was Ashley's moaning.

What is up with the new girl? Is she desperate for camera time, is she trying to throw them all off with her attitude or is she just a psycho bitch? Not really a good idea to make enemies right out of the gate, you need alliances in this game. Who am I kidding, she probably didn't think that far ahead.

On AYTO, everyone splits the $1 million prize if they figure out all the matches.  The premise is that every person has a "perfect match" on the show.  If the contestants can figure out all the matches they win.  But they lose money if, at the matching ceremony, they fail to get any new matches.  Every "blackout" (no matches) costs them $250,000 of the final prize.  So, at best, they each won $50,000 before taxes for finding all ten "perfect" matches.

Boring episode. John isn't getting over Sarah's masterful play until he successfully screws her over on a future challenge.  And he'll still say he's awesome and she's shit for doing the same damn thing.

Ashley's sex noises for attention were pitiful.  Just like she was on her season of RW.

Camila, you ask if how drunk Ashley is presenting herself is how people see you when you go "Camilinator?"  Well, speaking only for myself, no.  Ashley is basically just pitiful...drank enough to imagine things, and yelled at the people who she thought did her wrong to get out, and then just cried (and then macked on Jamie again).  You?  You throw things destructively and try to physically attack people and have to be held back.  I know which, if I had to choose as a punishment for some sin, I'd rather be around.

Did I hear Johnny say that he carried Sarah through to the finals in their last challenge, only to be betrayed by her and he would NEVER do that?  Revisionist history much? He is the epitome of a sore loser.  I really wish the surprise was that they were all in a secret elimination round.  I'm so tired of him.

Ashley was definitely angling for camera time with her "body builder noises."  She knew exactly what she was doing with those sounds and the faces she made.

The challenge was very reminiscent of the ice block challenge from many moons ago (I can't remember what season).

I think what you're saying here is they should've had a secret/surprise elimination round for those left behind who didn't get picked for the drinking house.. well, the other drinking house. I love that idea!  It would've been great to go in there with everyone left behind drinking their non-top-shelf liquor and spring an elimination round on them. Especially if they popped in right after Johnny's spiel.

I actually found myself feeling pretty sorry for Ashley this episode. I think her self esteem has got to be practically zero for her to act the way she does.

Aw, poor Johnny. He only has five Challenge wins instead of six. What, did Hannah up her price for telling everybody she's his girlfriend? Seriously, I don't know whether we should bring in a violinist to play anytime he talks shit about Sarah, or if somebody ambles in to kick him in the balls.

What's the point of a mission if nobody gets eliminated? The mission was fun and inappropriate, but it doesn't hold a candle compared to the ice-melting mission from BOTS2.

Another AYTO couple? What. The fuck. Ever.

Yes, Camila, that's what it feels like to endure one of your meltdowns. Adjust accordingly.

Lol, talk about uninteresting replacements! I don't watch AYTO so I had no idea who they were when they walked out. Abram and his brother coming on last season as well as Cara Maria coming in as Cooke's rival on the last Rivals season were much more interesting replacements.

The challenge this week was kind of funny to me because most of these pairs can't stand each other and were forced to be so close. Ashley was pretty cringeworthy.

Once again, we were subject to another episode of Johnny Bananas playing the victim card. He's just mad because Sarah outsmarted him when he would've done the same thing in order to win and has actually done it before (exhibit A: Paula). It's total crap that he carried Sarah throughout that season and helped her get to the final because she and Jordan were a strong team without his help.

This episode was completely pointless.

Bunim/Murray is really trying hard to sell us these AYTO turkeys, but they're losing my attention.  Why wouldn't they have an elimination?  What was that special dinner all about?  Does B/M even give a shit anymore?

Wes was the only saving grace.  He had me cracking up.

Does Bunim Murray produce the AYTO shows?

Is it B-M bringing over that cast or is it MTV?

How are the ratings for AYTO compared to RW, or even The Challenge?

Maybe MTV thinks AYTO is helping The Challenge, not the other way around.  The AYTO kids are 10 years younger give or take a couple of years so maybe they want to bring in younger viewers to the show, not those of us who watched RW when Bananas or any of the RW seasons from 5-10 years ago or longer.

I was lmao at the crickets when off brand Wayans brother and his trusty sidekick Birdbrain showed up. Jessica made an effort to look surprised but it was obvious nobody cared.

The challenge was funny to watch but knowing their crotches were itching and burning afterward made me cringe.

It’s even more cringe-worthy hearing Sarah describe it on the live video chat she did with Susie. She said it was hands down the worst mission she’d ever done with the pain down there lasting for weeks. Apparently she and a number of other female contestants had to seek medical attention for the infections they got from rubbing their vaginas on soap for an hour. Normally I wouldn’t feel bad for these dinguses going through a bit of unnecessary torture, but that had to really suck.

Did they have to straddle the pole to get to the numbers?  It seems like sitting sideways on it and rubbing back and forth would have worked better and would have caused fewer injuries down there.  I don't remember any of them trying it that way.

I was wondering about that. My first thought on the whole thing was yeast infections and UTIs. Yuck.

I loved how Amanda Garcia messed up Johnny and Tony at the end of that episode. LMAO. Those 2 are complete assholes to women and I'm glad that there is a girl on the show that will tell them off. :)

Ugh, not more Are You The One idiots. These two are some of the worst. Cocky asshole guy who's decided he clearly can't trust Sarah like, who asked you? And Crazy Amanda who is playing it all wrong. Yeah they were going to go after her because she was a newbie but now they are all going to go after her extra hard.

Simone's crush on Wes made me very sad. Girl, don't do that to yourself.

As soon as I saw the challenge for this week, I felt sorry for the women.  I knew there was going to be some collateral damage. You should not repeatedly force soap up into a vagina for an hour. I can't even believe nobody stopped them from doing this challenge.

It's a sad season when fucking WES is the most entertaining person on it. I can't believe he's the one I'm rooting for now?! I really used to think he was horrible. (Still think he's fug though.) If I should ever find myself thinking this about John I will have to turn in my resignation as a series-long viewer of this (un)esteemed program.

Ugh...I know, I know, he is so beyond disgusting. I don't know what's wrong with me. I need therapy.

No shame.  I have to continually remind myself how much I hate Cory because every once in a while he looks really cute and when he was comforting his dumb ass partner only contributed further to that.  But no! (slaps hand) He's an asshole!

Sometimes I think Cory is really cool. During the last season, when they did the reunion, and Abe was talking about his scary aftershow behavior, he was like, I just want to state for the record, I was only trying to give Thomas a beat down. I wouldn't have physically gone after Cara Marie. Everyone else was like, yeah cool, we know, and only Cory piped up and said, why are you trying to give anyone a beat down? Abe kind of had this 'frailty thy name is woman' attitude towards Cara Marie which I found highly offensive and I had up until that point been an Abe apologist. I thought it was very cool when Cory pointed that out to him. I didn't see his original season but other than his treatment of Aneesa, I didn't see him do much that was assholish.

I actually do like Cory besides his behavior towards Aneesa last season. Other than that, he seems like a good guy who pretty much gets along with everybody and he's a great competitor too.

Although I think Tony is gross because he seems to be horny 100% of the time, I don't mind him as much because I find him entertaining. Even Camila seems to have warmed up to him now.

I think Tony is gross because not only is he about nothing but banging anything he sees, he's incredibly stupid.  Like, can't even hold a conversation stupid. I've never seen anyone so pretty and boring in my life.

I loved that bonus seen played during commercial break where Johnny Reilly and Bananas are both whining about their burning testicles courtesy of the soap mission, and Reilly asks if the burning feeling is what herpes feels like, and Vince awesomely deadpans, I couldn't tell you, maybe ask Tony?

I think Nelson had a fair point. In a game were alliances contribute a great deal to success, it should give you pause when you see someone who betrayed her alliance to get ahead and seemingly did so with ease. Now don't get me wrong, I don't blame Sarah one bit but unlike Nelson, I think I've seen more of Sarah and Johnny in these challenges than he has. What he doesn't realize yet is that Sarah fights for survival, Johnny fights more for pride. It's not enough for Johnny to get protection each week from a battle, he wants to feel and also make it clear that he's controlling the game and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Ashley and Amanda are bat shit crazy for completely different reasons. Amanda coming in guns blazing made laugh, particularly when her partner tried to ease the situation by telling her 'just don't be yourself', lol.

Also, I think Johnny (Avery's ex) takes the cake for the biggest sexist idiot. It's no surprise that the only people that rave about him being such a good guy are the other guys. He doesn't treat any of them like shit because he knows he can't get away with it.
