Athena December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 I know he's been mentioned before here, but I do have a thing for Harrison Ford. As an elementary school student, I had a teacher who was crazy for him. I was too young then because we watched the Indiana Jones films and I'd seen Star Wars, but he didn't do anything for me then. I finally got it when I saw Witness and Working Girl. He's very subtle and just so extremely handsome in both those films. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-682686
Sharpie66 December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 I had a thing for Harrison Ford ever since I saw Star Wars in the theatre (three times in the summer of 1977--the first time I had ever seen a movie more than once in the theatre during its first run!). It was about the time of Raiders of the Lost Ark when I saw an interview that mentioned his birth year, did the math, and realized he was ony three years younger than my dad, and thought WTF?!? I seriously thought he was younger than that. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-682745

Jipijapa December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 I had a raging crush for Harrison Ford as a pre-teen. In fact, I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark 14 times in the theater. (That was back when home VHS was prohibitively expensive, so if you wanted to watch something over and over, you had to get your ass to the movie theater.) But the crush didn't last. I'm now largely immune to Harrison Ford. (Nothing to do with his age; he still looks OK.) I wonder why that happens. Lately I've been crushing on the late James Garner, especially when I realized I had seen almost nothing he had actually been in, save The Great Escape and many TV commercials. I've made it a personal mission to watch everything he appeared in. It's going to take a while. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-683574
Sharpie66 December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 (edited) Ooohh, James Garner--definitely a good movie crush!! He and Sally Field are both terrific in Murphy's Romance. His 1960s comedic westerns (Support Your Local Sheriff, Support Your Local Gunfighter) are great, as well. ETA: I nearly forgot my all-time favorite performance of his! If you haven't seen Victor/Victoria yet, you absolutely have to. Everyone in that movie is amazing, but he nails all of the nuances of his character. Jipijapa December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 (edited) Victor/Victoria was one of the first ones I checked out. (And my respect for Garner went up 100% when I read that he had originally wanted his character to kiss Julie Andrews' character before he knew she wasn't a man... but the studio was too chicken about it, I guess.) Edited to add: Not only that, but Garner actually wanted Robert Preston's part! (according to his autobiography, he was told that nobody would accept him as gay, but "I wanted to try it.") I was read parts of the Q & A section with him and Matt Damon (a good friend of his--the interview was done at his house) sounds like a really nice, down to earth kind of guy. This is slightly tangential to your post but I have to say, Matt Damon has always done it for me. Something about him IRL makes him seem like a really funny, nice guy, who doesn't chase out the tabloids, and is a guy who really loves his wife and likes being a dad. I think that makes him hotter to me. And my god, Chris Evans is so smokin hot that he doesn't even seem human. Did the gods chisel that jaw line? TVFan17 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 (edited) I just found this topic for the first time -- I have no idea how I missed it before -- and it was particularly relevant to me because I was just thinking about this subject a few days ago. I purposely did not read any of the comments in the thread yet, because I didn't want to be influenced or reminded of any particular celebrity. I just wanted to answer off the top of my head, and then I will go back and read what everyone else said. I should say that, as I get older, I might appreciate that an actor or musician is attractive, but I don't get too many crushes anymore. When I was younger, I could look at several actors or rock stars and get weak in the knees. So, nowadays, there are not many actors that I actually find hot -- and my criteria for hotness has changed over time. For example, in my teens or 20's, someone with Brad Pitt's looks would have been what I found to be hot. Today, he doesn't do it for me at all. In the early '80s I liked Tom Cruise. Now? Nope. When the show thirtysomething was on TV centuries ago, I had an enormous crush on Peter Horton, but now that he has been out of sight and out of mind for so long, I have forgotten whether he really was hot or not! Lol. So... these are the actors I have found myself crushing on over the last several years... Josh Holloway a.k.a. Sawyer on Lost -- He was the reason I stuck with that show as long as I did. I always felt Kate should have stayed with him. David Duchovny -- I have liked him for years (way before Californication). Not a classically handsome guy, but he is intriguing. Michael Fassbender -- Sometimes his face looks really handsome, and sometimes it doesn't look as great, but there is a smoldering sexuality about him that is undeniable. Christian Bale -- I can't explain it, but it works for me (especially when his hair is longer). Maybe it's the intensity. Alexander Skarsgard -- The only reason I stuck with True Blood for as long as I did. I mean, the man just oozes hotness. So hot. And who is my absolute favorite of the last few years? Bradley Cooper!!!!!! For me, he is the whole package -- smart; handsome; talented; educated; good sense of humor; good sport; down to earth (takes the subway!!!!); doesn't take himself too seriously; Irish-Italian; loves to cook; speaks French; seems to be a decent guy; stays out of the tabloids and doesn't end up involved in lurid scandals every other month; takes his sobriety very seriously; takes care of his mom and loves his dog; keeps his private life private, and rarely talks about anyone he is seeing, etc. Bradley looks a bit different right now -- his face has changed in between filming American Sniper (where he gained a lot of muscle weight) and performing in The Elephant Man (where he has to stay pale and non-muscular) onstage. But he is still a catch in my eyes!!! Edited January 10, 2015 by Sherry67 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-711325

It seems unnatural, and I can't for the life of me grasp why he would ever use fillers or the like. It just doesn't seem like the typical weight thing. His face definitely looks different than it did in the last Hangover movie. It's possible that someone in Bradley's camp suggested he get fillers for The Elephant Man, for some reason. He doesn't seem like the type of person who would go that route on his own, without it being suggested for him. Hopefully it kind of settles or 'wears off' after a while. Whatever the case, he still does it for me! If I ever saw him out and about in person, I would probably stand there, mouth agape, looking like a fool. methodwriter85 January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 (edited) I've been crushing on Bradley Cooper ever since he was on Jack and Bobby in 2005 and showed off that gorgeous golden skin tone of his. It's so rare for blond guys to have complexions like that without completely frying their skin. The funny thing is, he actually has really gorgeous hair, but it doesn't actually work with his face when he does the curls. I normally love curls, but not with his face- I prefer it when his hair's short. KatWay January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 In the battle of the Chrises (Chrisi?), which is your favourite? So many Chrises to choose from... My list goes thusly: Chris Pratt (hot, also hot when he's not super buff, comedic talent, gives a great interview) Chris Hemsworth (super hot and charismatic, but I thought his grovelly voice was a bit over the top cartoonish in the Thor movies. Then I saw him in Rush and he was amazing in that) Chris Pine (charismatic as well. I don't find him that attractive, but he has good screen presence. I give him a lot of credit for making Kirk likeable, because I think the movies, especially the first, weren't particularly concerned with that). Chris Evans (Hot as well...seriously I should name all my future sons Chris, seems like that's a guarantee for that, but none of his roles have ever interested me all that much. I think he plays Captain America very well, but the character doesn't really interest me all that much. I'm still waiting for a 'wow' role from him, although I think he's a good actor and he's played all his roles so far very well.) 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-711444
Shannon L. January 10, 2015 Share January 10, 2015 In the battle of the Chrises (Chrisi?), which is your favourite? Oh jeez....I don't know. I think it would be different for me on any given day. However, based on looks alone (shallow, I know, but they all seem so nice!), it would be Hemsworth, Pratt, Evans, but each one by the slimmest of margins. As for Bradly Cooper--I found him cute in Silver Lining's Playbook, but I love his look in American Sniper. We're watching Alias right now and, aside from having the most interesting eyes, I don't find him that attractive in it. Sorry to be so shallow, but I haven't followed him much over the years, so I don't know much about him as a person. Dandesun January 13, 2015 Share January 13, 2015 In the battle of the Chrises (Chrisi?), which is your favourite? Keep in mind that there is a very very very slim margin between them all: Chris Evans: His portrayal of Captain Steve Rogers has made that character my absolute favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But his portrayal of Johnny Storm was easily the best part about the Fantastic Four movies and, really, Johnny and Steve could not be more different (save for them both being blonde, blue-eyed dudes.) He's very self-aware and self-depreciating, loves his family, and is hilarious. He won me over, as himself, when during the Avengers press stuff, the question of 'if you had a time machine and could go back in the past what time period would you go to?' was asked. Hemsworth immediately said 'Dinosaurs.' and Evans pauses and goes "Can I bring stuff with me? Like penicillin? I don't want to go back in time, get a tooth-ache and then die." I like a guy who can be practical in the face of fantasy... it works for me. And he can dance! Chris Pratt: Absolutely adorkable. Another self-depreciating, hilarious guy who totally loves his family and has no problem showing it. I love that one of the writers for Parks and Rec admitted that the funniest line he thought ever happened on their show was actually a Pratt adlib. And the French braiding interview is just hot. Chris Hemsworth: He was George Kirk in the Star Trek reboot for about ten minutes of screentime and that absolute reassured me when he got cast as Thor. Dude can act. That he can get ridiculously huge to play the God of Thunder is a bonus. He requested a visit to Conan after seeing their joke promos for Thor and came on using the wimpy voice for the first minute of the interview before talking in his real voice. Sense of humors are hot. Chris Pine: I will forever love him solely for Bottle Shock but I also love his James T Kirk. I haven't seen as much of him as himself though but he's got a great voice and can do it all. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-720919

I love that one of the writers for Parks and Rec admitted that the funniest line he thought ever happened on their show was actually a Pratt adlib. I hadn't heard that, and now I'm trying to guess which line that was! My first thought was "you may have network connectivity problems", and the second was "I don't know who Al Gore is and now I'm afraid to ask". 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-721006

Rick Kitchen January 13, 2015 Share January 13, 2015 Chris Pine: I will forever love him solely for Bottle Shock but I also love his James T Kirk. I haven't seen as much of him as himself though but he's got a great voice and can do it all. Have you seen Into the Woods? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-721292
Dandesun January 13, 2015 Share January 13, 2015 French braiding interview? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tHrUr_ozZs Yep. He French braids an interns hair after posting an image of Anna's hair that he French braided. He even takes the interviewer to task for a) not knowing how to braid hair and b) not knowing that rubber bands damage the hair. Have you seen Into the Woods? I have not seen it yet but I have seen clips of "Agony." 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4040-movie-star-crushes/page/8/#findComment-721322
