Movie Star Crushes

Ok. This is going to be super weird but I don't care. I have always loved John Wayne. He was always portrayed as such a strong man. I just felt like if you were hurting or having a bad day he would wrap those strong arms around you and take care of you. I know he wasn't as he acted on screen but I have always loved his persona on screen. I think he tried to be as he acted. Maureen O'hara fought for him to get the metal of Congress. So I know he was a good person. I will always have a crush on him. And I think what he portrayed in his movies was a real part of himself.

In honor of Batman Vs. Superman, here's an adorable video of star Henry Cavill with kids asking them who their favorite superhero is. It's also part of a charity-based contest, in support of the star's favorite charities:

Another adorable video is Tom Hardy visiting a British dog shelter and almost getting upstaged by one of them:

And on this year's edition of "Chris Evans/Steve Rogers Is Gorgeous", the bicep popping helicopter scene in Captain America: Civil War managed to surpass the the breaking wood scene in Age of Ultron. But why oh why couldn't his shirt ripped off in the process too??!

I'll have to add Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther to the Movie Crush list. That accent was sexy as hell.

Courtesy of YouTube, here's more proof that Tom Hiddleston can make almost anything sexy, this time it's math:

Works for me!

I don't think there's one actor (or actress!) in the whole series that isn't sexy in their own way!

Boseman had a rather strange accent in Gods of Egypt (strange in that he was the only god who had one).

Captain America: CW really was filled with the sexy! From Black Panther to Winter Soldier everybody had something hot going on! (Well, except for Tom Holland, he is too much of a kid still...) I've crushed on Chris Evans for many many years (think it started in Not another teen movie) and he is just getting hotter by the second...  And my lady crush on Scarlet Witch and Black Widow knows no bounds.  That really is one hot cast!

Funny you should say that--I was watching The Avengers last night and, while admiring his figure, I thought that he wasn't quite as handsome in that one, yet in WS and CW, I thought he was hot.  I said to my husband "Is it just me, or does he just keep getting better looking?" (To which my husband responded: "I don't know, I don't watch him quite as closely as you do".  :)

It's not just you...he really does get better looking in every movie.

And screw the nay-sayers, I'm GLAD the filmmakers gave him a chance to put those beautiful lips to more use by having him make out with Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp).  Fingers are crossed that the answer of Cap's virginity will be put to bed (literally) once and for all just so that we can see that chest again!

I actually remember Chris Evans from a very early role on a short-lived t.v. show called Opposite Sex on Fox. He also had a part on Boston Public's first season.

I wasn't really surprised he became a star. He really did show his star quality in Not Another Teen Movie. He just nailed that part.

Paul Rudd is so adorable to me. 20 years since Clueless and he doesn't really show it...time has been wonderful to him

He's so adorable!  Here's what amazes me about Paul Rudd:  He's not as gorgeous as some of the other actors out there, but I have not yet seen one movie where he didn't have romantic chemistry with his costar.  I don't know how he pulls it off, but damn....

I guess this is a strange one, but I was watching Elmer Gantry the other night after not seeing in it in years, and my God but Jean Simmons was a beautiful creature. She didn't become as famous as she should have, but I went digging through my movie collection and have just been quietly marveling at how lovely she was.

I watched Bend It Like Beckham again this past weekend, and my god, I forgot how beautiful Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is in that movie.  Usually guys like him are not my type (like, the super-beautiful men), but he is just gorgeous in that movie.  Plus that accent?  SWOON.

Yes. Do you ever watch movies or TV shows for actors because you loved them in one particular role so much that it it's like they have good standing in your pop culture life? I've seen a lot of JRM and Paraminder Nagra things because of that movie. However, I had to really ease up on his stuff because he's not had the best stuff and his range is limited. However, he was perfect in Bend It Like Beckham.

I understand completely - I had a soft-spot for all three leads of Bend it Like Beckham for the longest time, which contributed to me watching ER long after it was any good and watching The Tudors period.  I also have seen A LOT of Kiera Knightly movies, because while she is limited as an actor, I find her completely charming.

Paul Rudd has this accessibility about him. I think that's what makes him so charming.

JRM...gorgeous guy, but man is he troubled. I really hope he keeps it together, because when he falls off the wagon, it's pretty bad.

I'm watching the Avengers, too! I've had a crush on Mark Ruffalo since I first saw it in theaters.

Oh, Mark Ruffalo is adorable! I've dug him since Collateral . With regard to The Avengers , though, I mean the actual green dude LMAO. Although, I loved the way Ruffalo  delivers the line where Banner reveals his "secret"...like he's actually looking forward to becoming "the other guy"

Indeed...I couldn't sleep so I watched the replay as well lol. Mark Ruffalo plays Bruce Banner beautifully; his almost scary calm leading to the revelation of his secret is what makes it such an effective scene for me. I hope they decide to do a Hulk movie that does real justice to the character  (although, I didn't hate the one with Edward Norton)

I met Paul Rudd at a showing of I Love You Man in 2009 and the guy acted SO humble.  We got to shake hands and take pictures with Paul Rudd and Jason Segel and I told Paul, "I'm such a big fan of everything you do"  and he genuinely said "Oh, thank you so much" and just seemed very flattered.

On the other hand, Jason Segel invited all the women in the audience back to his hotel room. Hahhaha!!!

Also envious that you met Paul Rudd.

The Jason Segel story reminds me that back in that same year, he sang in a show and told everyone his phone number in order to look for love. The story went viral and people did call him including at least one TWOP poster back in the day. They said that Jason seemed pretty nice on the phone and he was watching TV when he got that call. He was getting calls from all over, but I don't think he was getting that  many from single women. Ha.

X-Men: Apocalypse was a complete hot mess; goofy at best, "meh" at worst, but I'll give it this: it had a welcome, well-lit outdoor scene that showed off James McAvoy's spellbinding blue eyes to their best advantage. Not only that, he still managed to look sexy in a lavender shirt and 80s hair!

It's not just his looks, though; aside from his gorgeous voice and accent, McAvoy just has the most lovely personality and delectable sense of humor. I've yet to see an interview where he wasn't charming as hell. I'm tempted to say I'd like to meet him... but I'd probably turn into a babbling, drooling fangirl (moreso than usual), so I'll pass.

I've always had a thing for Benicio Del Toro...except for in The Usual Suspects, when they gave him Joan Crawford eyebrows lol

If you haven't already, watch "Excess Baggage" with Benicio and Alicia Silverstone.  It's a lot of Benicio

God though, Freddie Prinze Jr. who was in that movie aged about 50 years. Man. (Although to be honest, I never thought he was that hot. He just had the benefit of youth bloom and a nice jock body.)

I found Sam Claflin much more attractive as Will Traynor than I did with him as sex symbol Finnick. Go figure.

Was she a freak in TheSweetest Thing?  I can't remember.

Was she the bride in that? There was some reason she and Thomas Jane didn't get married, but I've forgotten what it was. (Of course, in a Rom-Com simply deciding not to get married to the male lead is enough to paint her as a freak...)

Yeah she was the bride. Her time on screen was really short, but one of the wonders of PP is she can relay nuts in a nanosecond without having to resort to tropes. I have a long standing appreciation for her.

Chris Evans since Fantastic Four and Sunshine really sealed the deal, but I don't find him attractive at all as Cap. Rose Byrne, since I Capture the Castle (she was also in Sunshine, very enjoyable movie) and I still think she's just gorgeous. Saffron Burrows, an English actress, has been a crush since the last 90s.

Used to think Jeremy Renner was attractive but he ruined it by opening his mouth (and being self conscious about being short). Tom Hiddleston was very appealing up until he hooked up with Taylor Swift. I have nothing against her, don't get me wrong, but even though there's only a 9 year age difference it honestly seems like it should be 20. It's just wrong somehow.

I saw Civil War a couple of weeks ago and realized I've had a crush on Marisa Tomei for almost thirty years, going back to when she was on A Different World.

Since then, I've gotten older. . . she has not.

The only knock I have against him as Cap is that it's the one role where he isn't baring chest fur for half the movie. (I do think it's his best acting since Price of a Teardrop Diamond though, and can't visualize anyone managing a better job of bringing Steve Rogers to life, so I accept the trade-off.)

Yeah, I've loved her since As The World Turns. I remember being so excited that she was going to be on A Different World. I'm so old.

I haven't had a movie crush in awhile, but after watching the recently remade(?) Point Break, Edgar Ramirez could GET IT.  All day, every day.  Multiple times.  The movie was awful, but he (and the lush scenery porn) saved it for me.  I wish he would have been the lead - the pasty dude with the bad dye job and mumbly voice that got the job was turrible.  I may need to see the original again for hot Keanu Reeves to cleanse my palate of that shitty Johnny Utah.

Honorable mention to Tobias Santelmann, who was also yummy in the Rock's version of Hercules (which, wasn't that bad, surprisingly). Normally, Scandinavians hold no physical appeal for me, but he's a yummy exception! More of both men in films, Hollywood.

Define "crush." I'm 45 and just realizing I'm an adult so I've gotta be careful about who I crush on or it looks creepy lol. Examples of how to be appropriate at my age:

Monica Belucci or Julianne Moore: "Hubba hubba."

Eva Green or Felicity Jones: "If there's an emotional connection it's ok."

Daisy Ridley or Brie Larson: "She's a talented and handsome young woman."

Even as a younger man I knew that no-one wants to see David Lee Roth singing Hot For Teacher at age 65.
