We will know in less than 24 hours....but my guess is that they don't show it.  Somewhere, their kids (and exes) saw that sketch and were very embarrassed. They wouldn't want to do that again to them.

I had the opposite thought. Joe and Mika probably puffed themselves up in pure pride that SNL gave them the cold open. That's a pretty impressive thing, to have your relationship acknowledged by late night in the age of Trump. Granted the sketch roasted the hell out of them, but I can see Joe in particular being flattered. But I see your point. To be a fly on the wall when Z gets a load of it!

Also I'll have the unpopular opinion that the guy playing Joe in the skit did a better impression than Kate did of Mika, although they were both good. I think it's just that Joe has more annoying exaggerated tics. The glasses waving was especially spot on.

No scarves, though! (A minor oversight.)

So, do we think this will be totally ignored on Monday's show?

They may publicly ignore it - IF either of them gives a rat's ass about their children and parents.  But I'll bet they're privately thrilled at their perceived "celebrity" at getting the cold open.  Oh yeah, they've really made it now.  Blech.

If they do show a clip, it won't be the part where Barnicle or Halperin react negatively to Mika & Joe trying to kiss each other. In March 2014, the Daily Show did a parody of Morning Joe. They briefly mentioned it, but didn't show the clips. It was recapped on this forum.

On 3/28/2014 at 8:29 AM, Eliot said:

They finally addressed the Daily Show takedown. Mika (teeth gritted in a totally phony smile) proclaimed her love for Samantha Bee and insisted she thought the skit was "hilarious" and "spot on."

Of course they shared no clips. Which pretty much says it all.

I found the recap of them of the Daily Show commentary on them

I'm still laughing at that SNL skit. I thought the guy who played Joe was excellent - I just wished he had done a southern accent.

And Kate's Mika was spot on. So good!

They both nailed it, and the guy, right down to Joe's sometimes-odd speech mannerisms.

The whole thing was extremely funny, but probably only to those who watch the show regularly.   I can picture a majority of SNL viewers thinking "meh."

I think part of my preference for the Joe impression is that I almost exclusively listen to the podcast (well, I did. Haven't listened since November because of Joe's insufferable smugness that he was right). Joe's tics are more apparent when listening, while more of Mika's are evident visually. Although the part where Kate/Mika kept piping in with a word here and there was hilariously spot on.

As for whether they'll acknowledge this Monday, It's a bit much for Joe and Mika be to be self-righteous about not acknowledging their relationship on the show, or getting huffy when someone does for the simple fact that they did a  spread and interview about the whole thing. Had they not done that and gotten married secretly, they'd have more of a leg to stand on.

Mika & Joe are the King & Queen of being self righteous about everything. It's what makes the show irritating. Joe is always mouthing off about he's right about every issue & anonymous  important leaders always agree with him. Joe changes positions so often , it is bewildering to keep track of his views.

Mika nearly had a fit when Donnie said on air that they were engaged. It' supposed to be this weird secret. The relationship dynamics are like what happened on Cheers with Sam & Dianne & on Moonlighting with Maddie & David.

Morning Joe's ratings slip post engagement announcement. They are now ranked #103 out of #150 in the key demographic. They are 3rd now behind New Day & Fox & Friends. Overall ratings are still good with 824K viewers

http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-thursday-cable-originals-network-finals-5-4-2017.html

I am thinking that the engagement announcement had not much to do with these Thursday ratings, since the announcement just came out on Thursday morning, and people were just finding out. I think Friday's ratings would be a better indication. I am interested to find out if the SNL skit has an effect on Monday's ratings.

Also, something I have wondered about with these ratings is that CNN New Day and Fox and Friends have three different entries, one for each hour of the show, while MJ has a single entry covering all three hours. I wonder why this is.

I don't know why they do that. The 8 oclock hour includes a repeat of the 6 -630 segment.

Monday Recap. They did play the SNL clip at the end of the first segment & focused on Halperin's reaction to Mika & Joe. Joe did call Mika Mika Boo.

The first topic is why Joe was prescient on Putin's strategy failing in France & the USA. Joe said Putin was a bond villain. No one likes Russia. The hack into France elections a few hours before a news blackout didn't work.

Joe is mad at the tax cuts for wealthy Americans to offset the Medicaid cuts. Joe said the GOP will lose in 2018.

Joe bragged that's how he got to Congress. Joe bragged that when he cut Medicare it, he explained to his constituents. Everybody loved Joe & he was the most popular GOP Congressmen.

Joe said he wasn't self righteous.

Mika is wearing a violet top with black coat and a scarf.

Joe called the GOP bill immoral. It won't matter if it doesn't pass because the Democrats will run commercials against the GOP votes.

Joe is insufferable this morning. His analysis of France was superficial.

There are more glamour shots.

Never Trumper Bret Stephens came on to explain his article on Climate Change. He admitted that he caused chaos by asking for more information on the extent of Climate Change. He is happy that he won't be fired after his first article. He got nasty tweets.

Bret talked about Macron's challenge in France. They don't like reform.

Katty Kay was wearing a hideous pink & black dress that looked like tire tracks running over a pink dress. Katty usually dresses better than that. Boo.

The government spends 57% of the GDP on the economy.

The Globalist on the panel started ranting.. Joe liked Thatcher.

Happy to know that I'm not the only one that thought Katy Kay's dress was fugly.

Was there any mention of the French president-elect's resounding support of the Paris climate agreement in his speech?  I took that as a, take that trump.

Of course they handle the SNL skit with a humblebrag about what a big honor and how cool it is that Halperin got sent up by SNL.

Willie Grist must have been like "oh I can't be on this morning. Gotta organize my sock drawer."

word to SNL - if you are going to mock Joe and Mika you gotta cut deeper or they like it. Please, cut deeper.

Count me among y'all who were distracted by Katty Kay's big pink test pattern of a dress.  I'm astigmatic and it was making my eyes cross.

I remember feeling an ouch when I realized I was older than the President (Obama).  Now I have to face the fact that the new French President could be my son!

Here is an article on them feigning surprise at the SNL sketch.

http://www.mediaite.com/online/oh-my-god-i-cant-wait-to-see-it-watch-joe-and-mika-learn-about-snl-satire/

They are true narcissists. I dunno if college kids still meet up and drink while watching SNL (like I used to in college) but if they do, I can only imagine how embarrassing that was for Mika's college-aged daughters.

SNL was well within their boundaries to do the sketch - and it was a great sketch - but these two have no dignity in promoting it themselves in whatever cute way they think they're doing. I think if any of us were featured in a nationally broadcast comedy show talking dirty to our fiance(e) and getting visibly aroused, we would be mortified.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand they can be criticized for perpetuating a potentially embarrassing skit (especially for their kids). On the other hand, if they completely ignored it, some people would criticize them for not having a sense of humor. I though they handled it reasonably well, by acknowledging it, but not overdoing it.

Also, I have been laughing at some of these articles this morning that seem to be taking seriously that Joe and Mika didn't know about the SNL skit. I though it was obvious that they were joking about not knowing about the skit, and they were using that joke premise as the setup to reference/show the skit without taking the whole thing too seriously.

That's what it seemed like to me as well. That was pretty much how I expected them to react, although I did not expect them to show the clip (although they did, I notice, edit out the bits where they were pawing at each other and just skipped to the reactions of the guests).

The portion of the skit that they showed was the part where the Joe character stuck his tongue out while he was about to kiss the Mika character. They edited out the tongue portion, but they did show the Joe/Mika characters getting pretty close before they cut to the reaction of the guests.

I thought Mika and Joe handled it reasonably well also. Kate's impersonation of Mika wasn't spot on. Kate leaned back in her chair too many times. She should have worn a scarf. Something really large and gaudy would have been funny.

Yeah but they missed this one. From John Oliver last night. Turn down the volume, there's lots of yelling.

That sums up their relationship in the proverbial nutshell.  How a woman who actually gives speeches to other women on KNOWING YOUR WORTH can sit there day after day, allowing herself to be insulted and bullied by a beady-eyed blowhard, and then marry him?!?!?!  is beyond me.  As much as I loathe her, I hold out a tiny speck of hope that she comes to her senses before she ties the knot.  If he treats her this badly on national TV can you just imagine how much worse it gets in private?  She is one strange cookie to put up with that.  But then again, money always talks.  Dr. Z must be soooo proud.

Wow John Oliver showed a montage of Mika and Joe sniping at each other.  Well more like him sniping at her.

So what was the dynamic, make up sex or hate fucks?  Or foreplay?

Why did she sign up for more of that?

There is no way Joe would have allowed that skit to air prior to the engagement announcement.  Mika's ex husband must have received a substantial settlement in order to keep quiet about Mika's affair. Joe's settlement with his ex wife was made public for some reason. Joe got Susan to say that he had been faithful during the marriage.

There was an interesting anecdote in that book. Mika was mad about her salary being too low ( 1/7) of Joe's . Joe got a bonus after the ratings came out. He gave part of his bonus to Mika. Mika did not want to accept it, but Dr Z told her to take the money.

Tuesday Recap. Why is everyone shouting ? Mika is wearing a blue dress with a white sweater. Joe is wearing a suit with a red tie . The dynamic duo started shouting about Flynn. This is the biggest story in Washington. Flynn may have been a Russian agent . Why didn't Trump listen to Obama? Obama said that Flynn was lying about Russia. Joe said that this has never happened before. Mika said she is right when she has a tantrum.

Joe is mad about Cruz's bad theatre when questioning Sally Yates..

The panel was upset that Clapper would not provide any proof of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.

Why did Trump not act quickly to get rid of Flynn?

Luckily this has never happened under the Obama administration.

Mika's outfit today is bizarre.  She's the host of a major morning political chat show, and she's dressed like she's going to an Amish funeral.  Frumpy housewives think she looks frumpy.  It's bizarre.  They were just famously mocked in SNL's cold open, yesterday the Trump administration was dealt a tremendous injury, health care needs to get through the Senate, war was declared on Afghanistan (again?)... she knew A LOT of eyeballs would be watching her today.  And so she chose grey on grey, and the cardigan doesn't really fit and is incredibly unflattering.
I suppose the question is why did she opt for that outfit?  She works on TV, she's got options.

She seems to think she has to be 180 degrees from the Fox News female on air talent "high end escort wardrobe/make up /hair."

There is a happy medium Mika.   I'd almost prefer she go back to the sleeveless dresses and heels instead of this frumpy ill fitting mess.

One of the funniest details of that nauseating Vanity Fair article was how Kushner offered to serve as the officiant and Trump retorted, Why would they want *you* to do it, and then offered to do it himself.  Lol at Trump owning Kushner in front of company.

Joe has been ranting against Trump since he fired Comey. Joe will be in a feisty #NeverTrump mood. Mika should be happy since Comey's interventions during the election hurt Hillary. Angry Joe & Sarcastic Mika are back. Joe is wearing a suit & Mika is wearing a navy blue top. No one can figure out why Comey was fired. Joe said it's a disaster for Republicans. Mika & Joe are trashing Huckabee sanders. She quoted Joe about no collusion with Russia. Mika got mad at Joe & nudged him. Joe fought back against that accusation. Mika gets Joe's attention when she rubs against him on the set.

Joe parsed his words and said no "Obvious" . Joe said Eric Trump was happy about Russian moey helping the Trumps out durig the recession. Joe is shouting at Sanders. She can't get any words in.  The moment she says something, Joe shouts her down. Good Job Joe. Why have any guests?

Barnicle is trying to be serious. Halperin said Rosenstein is highly respected. Joe shouted down Halperin who said no one thinks Rosentein is behind the firing of Comey.

Mika is mocking Spicer.

Joe had no clue that Lester Holt will interview Trump tomorrow night. Joe said the reporter has to be tough on Trump. There may be a guarantee by NBC not to ask tough questions for tomorrow.

Mika & Joe agreed not to ask tough questions of Trump last year.

It's very confusing because Democrats wanted Comey fired until he was fired. GOP praised Comey for going after Hillary. Now Trump fires him?

The Russians are coming today. Flynn was a Russian plant.

Mika is making faces at the camera.

Sanders is fighting back against Angry Joe who can't decide whether to keep his glasses on or off.

It's possible to hold his behavior up to scrutiny for mishandling the nonsense about Huma Abedin at once while you are SHOCKED that a President fires the head of the FBI for investigating his treasonous ties to Russia.  The instances aren't almost nearly equivalent, either.

Who is the white haired guy?  The smug, arch-conservative populist who has the easy confidence of an echo-chamber radio host or editorial page poobah?  I thought spunky little Cackles was going to karate chop him across his neck.  He's not sure what's happening, but one thing he is completely certain of, is that firing the FBI Director doesn't mean anything... and there are no ties to Russia, nothing to see here.  If that segment lasted another 15 seconds, Joe would have called him an idiot and Nicole would have cut him.
