In addition to Eileen's income, whatever the poker circuit pays and whatever they received from DVP's estate, Vince will enjoy a solid pension from his years as an actor (1970- 20--) as well as his related industry gigs.

But back to Yo and Her King. Yo strikes me as incredibly stubborn, as stubborn as David Foster probably is, and with all of her fawning over him I imagine she is equally as demanding. 

I think that both David and Yolanda are quintessential examples of what brings two very high profile, wealthy, and ambitious people together. David wanted a showpiece to have hanging on his arm for public appearances and Yolanda wanted a successful, rich, fairly good looking older man to take care of her. The trophy wife and trophy husband are just status symbols when it comes down to it.

 

Straight from Wikipedia and the description suits what the marriage between David and Yolanda essentially was from the start.

 

"Referring to a spouse as a trophy wife usually reflects negatively on the character or personality of the husband and has a connotation of narcissism and desire to impress others, and that the husband would not be able to attract the sexual interest of the attractive woman but for his wealth or position. I get it. I'm over the Yo storyline, too. I apologize if my response to your post was combative. I'll be honest - I was feeling combative after I read it. I understand why people don't like Yo, I'm one of them. But sometimes I wish she would be cut some slack because I think there's some mental illness going on there. Then, when I read your post about her having to take several seats for crying, and knowing that I cried once after surgery, well, LOL, my combat boots went on. And also because I was so hoping that this weeks discussion, here, wouldn't be all about Yo.

Yolanda annoys the hell out of me. I don't know if she has mental issues, as you think she has. I do think she is incredibly manipulative. She is ill, I'm sure but she imo is very aware when to play the sick card. What I mean is she is in the best safest little housewife bubble, she is untouchable. Her rude nasty behavior has never been brought up,and never will be. Did I mention she annoys the hell out of me lol. Yo has always acted above this tacky show and yet her sick ass is still on it. Makes no sense to me.

I would have left that hotel too. Should they have called Lisa V? Yes, probably. But why is Lisa upset? What does it really matter?

Erika was great on WWHL. She looked stunning. She is smart enough not to bad mouth any of the ladies. Even that woman Bethenny (can't stand her).

I felt bad for Kyle having kim's behavior always gossiped about. However, she did bring up Kim at the party, so she can't have both ways.

Well, I did enjoy the episode except for the Yo scenes. I get the impression, and maybe I'm wrong, that the Foster marriage was already over when Yo's surgery journey was filmed. David was going through 'motions' and wasn't happy about it. It all seemed passive/aggressive to me and he was there because of some ultimatum given by Yo. It just wasn't real to me. And why did only Gigi get the phone call. Hm. I wonder how the other two children feel about this but that's a whole other discussion.

Saw Erika on WWHL. She's coming off very vanilla on her opinions. Kinda disappointed after seeing the coming attractions of her interaction with Beth. I had hopes she was going to go up against her. It made me like her for fifteen minutes until she said Beth was cool.

That Hamptons House was gorgeous. Sorry Lisa. Get over it....but I have a feeling she won't. I would have been right behind Kyle and Eileen with my suitcases. Was it a set up in advance? I'm not totally sure. It may have been a listing and Mauricio worked out a last minute deal with an agent. Hey, that's great publicity for a house for sale.

I really liked having some well known people appear with Lisar. Also, with Erika and her husband. This is the kind of stuff I like to see...and house porn. I can do without Beth.....

I sorta liked the QVC scenes with LisaR. The area where their HQ is is right near my university. For the record, QVC is about an hour outside of Philly in West Chester, PA. It is about an hour from the airport. The town is still old style beautiful.

When Erika was talking about her house (all 17,000 square feet of it), she oh so casually mentioned that her designer was Joan Behnke.  True story--back in the early '80s, Joan and I worked at an ad agency in LA together.  Honestly, I had no idea that she would one day go on to become a high-end interior designer.  But she has.

 

And I'm still shlepping along, working in entertainment marketing.

Brandi brought it up first at the luncheon at Carlton's, Yolanda and Lisa chimed in.   Brandi took it one step further and blamed Kyle for being called a bully in front of her children by a paparazzi.  I agree tax liens and lawsuits don't make for great entertainment.  The entertainment value is when they deny the same or shut down all talk of them.  The cover up is always better.

I'm watching the episode again while reading here. I've traveled a lot and never packed wipes to wipe things down. I'm not even afraid of hotel bedding. : ))

I really hated that the ladies left Lisa at the hotel. I was looking forward to seeing some fun girl time. These women complain about sleep like they work hard, physical jobs and have no help. Guess the fabulous Mauricio had the fridge stocked in advance too, because....no food! Poor dears!!

While Erika looked lovely at lunch with her hubby, I thought she really needed some color on her lips. Those two act like business partners!

 

Yeah, I've traveled a ton too & never concerned myself with such stuff & have never gotten sick.  BUT I'm always careful about touching stuff around the office cuz that's where I've gotten sick way too often.  I just assume most hotels in the mid-range & above do keep clean, but am I wrong to assume this?

 

Man, I am mostly really digging Erika -- at least right now.  I think she's a good addition to the cast.  She's fun, she speaks her mind & she's tough.  She reminds me of a less funny Karen Walker.  Maybe it's that voice.  Yeah, it's that baby stripper voice.  Except It doesn't seem like a put-on to me.  It does seem like her real voice, which kinda makes me like her even more.

 

Now, we've seen Erika looking pretty freakin' ridiculous (which doesn't bother me at all), but we've also seen her seriously tone down her look.  She seems to know what's appropriate for when & where.  As far as her relationship with Girardi -- I'll withhold judgement until I see more of them.  I can't get a read yet on Girardi, but I'd like to see more.

 

While Erika doesn't seem like a yeller & screamer, she seems to know how to defend herself,  So I'm looking forward to seeing her fling back some zingers at Bethenny.  Ugh, I am so not looking forward to seeing her.

I'm over Yolanda and was tired of reading the same old snark about her.  I don't know what else remained to be said. If we absolutely have to continue talk about her (and I agree with you, how can we not, she's a big part of most epis, so far, sigh) I'm glad to have something new.  But it's even better to let all the others be the brunt of our brilliant observations. :-)

I still like LisaR but flying all over the country and yet not bothering to visit her parents is shameful. Although, I am not sure the relationship is great there. Remember when she first came on she used to talk about how they never let her express her emotions growing up, and that is why now she has no filter?  My husband's mother has four daughters that live all over the country and those women fly to visit their mom on a regular basis and not only for holidays and birthdays but regularly. And they are not wealthy like Lisa.  Harry must not make enough money to fund their lifestyle and that's why LisaR is so shameless. But I actually love her hustle-attitude. A buck is a buck.

Having read through many, many comments castigating Lisar for her seemingly cavalier attitude towards her parents - let me offer a little perspective.  Growing up, I had the most hateful, violent, emotionally and mentally abusive people one could imagine as parents.  The things those people did and said to me can STILL bring tears to my eyes some 30+ years later, even after years of therapy.  For example, when the time came for me to go to college, her exact statement was, "I'm not paying for ITS education."  Yes.  It.  So, fast forward a few years where, due to some hard work and hustle, I got a partial scholarship to (an out of state) school and worked to pay for the rest of it (books/room/board/etc.), though I did stay with an aunt the first couple of months I was there, until I got a job/apt/etc.  That was in 1992.  They never once called me, would not accept my phone calls, and I'm sure it's no surprise that they weren't there for my graduation.  We have never spoken again.  At first, it wasn't by my choice; I was devastated over the way my parents treated me.  Even more devastated by the stories (Iies) they told people about me - like I had stolen things from their home, that I used drugs, hurtful stuff like that.  But to the outside world, they were this wonderful, religious couple with nothing but goodness in their hearts and halos above their heads.  It was only after finding a good therapist who advised me to cut out the toxic people that I could begin to live my life with some semblance of happiness.

 

My point behind all this TMI is that perhaps Lisar has very good reason to stay away from her parents.  Obviously, I am not personally acquainted with any of the folks on this show, but ... her attitude does ring some bells.  Most 'normal' people would be devastated if their parent were withering away from such a horrible disease; folks who suffered mental/physical/whatever anguish at the hands of said parents are generally straight up relieved to be away from them, if not outright happy that their tormentors are/were suffering.  JMHO

The kids were not all together.  I don't know if even Bella and Anwar were together, but Gigi was by herself in Australia. Yolanda asked David what time it was there, and worried about waking her up because of the time difference.  And she did wake her up when she called.

 

But even if all the kids were in the same house, why would Yolanda not want to speak to each of them before going into a surgery that she was so frightened about?   Of all the times that someone might want to hear the voices of all 3 of their children, I would think that would be one of them.  It's very strange how she is always so focused on Gigi.  We've seen examples of it over and over.

And then Bravo does a "Coming up..." teaser prior to a commercial and it shows the damn thing laying there on the table! Gag. That was a cheap shot, Bravo.

I've side-eyed those 2 since day 1.  But I don't want to see their marriage end.  I've even come to like Eileen and my wish would be that she could practice a little tough love on Vinny because to me he seems like SUCH a layabout.  And THAT'S not good for a marriage especially when she seems like such a workhorse.  If that arrangement works for them, great, but this week she showed that she might resent his gambling.

 

I don't know where his money is coming from.  Residuals from what?  His Paddle Xtreme is a copy of Kadima which has been around for 20 years or more. His version is just more expensive - other than that, I can't see a discernible difference.  Movie?  What movie? But gambling?  I guessed that was an issue last season and Eileen just confirmed it.  There was a guy in Detroit several years ago that hit the lottery for tens of millions.  He took the lump pay-out and lost it all gambling in less than 3 years. He was obviously no Vince Van Patten but it can happen.  Who knows if Vinny's rich from Dick's money. There are a lot of Van Pattens to spread that wealth around to. Plus, his wife is still alive so maybe all the money has been bequeathed to her until her death.

 

Meanwhile, Eileen is working what...3 jobs?  And taking care of everything at home, too? Vinny, go outside and trim up the shrubs.

I don't care for Ericka. She comes across crass, tacky, and braggy, not authentic. She'd be better suited to another show. She and her husband seem to be acquaintances, at best. Her TH made it clear they rarely cross paths.

And hell no, she didn't eat that chocolate cake! It's the same as Gigi showing off her alleged meals on Instagram. Sorry - super thin women and models who claim to eat voraciously is a pet peeve of mine.

It didn't bother me that Yolanda cried when coming out of anesthesia. I've seen people react that way a lot. I always figured it was due to pain, confusion, etc. (?)

And wow, David cannot stand her. It was so obvious.

As far as the Hamptons Hotel, I'd totally leave too. On one hand, why would Lisa care if they are still there to attend the event? As Lisa R said, they'd already taken planes, trains, and automobiles to get there.

But OTOH, the previous poster had a good point that they could have waited to greet her. Oh, who am I kidding - I'd have left and taken a nap too!

I also think it's kind of Kyle's obligation to talk about Kim, at least a little. It's her job. She chose to film during these events, so it's fair play.

Kim hijacked last season - we deserve to see and hear the reaction, imo. Kyle could have taken a pass this year if she felt she needed the privacy.

Yeah, and she was hugging her mother right before she left for the surgery.  Calling Gigi could have been as simple as Gigi working all day the day before.  Or Anwar not really liking to be on camera much.  It's a non issue to me.  Editing is most likely, Bravo wanted Gigi on screen, because she is the most famous right now.  Much like they always tried to get Paris Hilton on RHBH.

I think the tentacles were leaked silicone.  Apparently it was everywhere, including under her clavicle  in a 7 and a half hour surgery they still couldn't get it all.

 

I'm kind of fascinated by surgery, so that segment was pretty interesting.  Her doctor was tops too, very respected, Yale and other prestigious residencies, etc.  I do think part of the reason people like her is also the setting, less scary, more pampering, but the big draw is probably that they allowed filming.  I wonder if Bravo picked up part of the tab for that privilege?

Even if her parents were wolves, she still dumped the burden of care on her sister. If her parents are the problem (which I doubt), she and HarryHamlin could fund caregivers to give her poor sister a break.

This made me wonder about her sister who is close by. Didn't she say half sister? LisaR is younger than her correct? Which would mean that one of LisaR's parents isn't her sisters biological parent and yet.....??? I'm a little curious about the logistics of that situation.

I wasn't talking about her scrubs.  Ha.  I think it's a very high end place catering to the people who can afford it, kind of a full patient lux setting, less scary and impersonal than a hospital OR, but with all the technical bells and whistles.

Personally, I think he was over the relationship shortly after the show aired.  I bet he tired of his Nordic blonde and her "my King" and "write me love notes every day" stuff quickly.  The fawning gets tiring.

to eat.  And that's great by me.  I like that she's shapely but not ridiculously thin.

Given the seriousness of her silicone leakage, has Yo ever (at least on cam) acknowledged her health issues could be related to this?  I'd have liked for her to once get outside of her self-absorbed world & say to the cam, "see, this is what can happen with implants."  Ah, but that's really not who she is.  And when she said that awful comment about being "toothless & boobless", I shuddered.  What a horrible thing to say about yourself.  That's the moment Foster should have countered her.  But no, he didn't.  No surprise there cuz that's just who he is.  Ugh, just ugh.  Well, as someone above said, they both got what they wanted out of this marriage.

Maybe. Or maybe someone Bravo decided it was way too boring, like the rest of Yo's story. Either way, I'm not about to assume some lady I don't even know cares about only one of her three kids based on all of six collected minutes of a bazillion hours of footage over the years.

The point people here are making is the same though: she said it as if she, like tons of people, is under the impression that OCD = liking things to be clean and germ-free. It doesn't. She probably meant no harm, of course, and it's not a huge deal (IMO), it's just annoying and dumb.

 

And hell no, she didn't eat that chocolate cake! It's the same as Gigi showing off her alleged meals on Instagram. Sorry - super thin women and models who claim to eat voraciously is a pet peeve of mine.

 

"Claim" implies they're all lying. I eat all the time (about to cram my face full of pad thai, in fact, and because it's kind of early, I'll probably finish it around 11 or 12). I eat more than my six-foot, 200-pound boyfriend does. I'm pretty bony and always have been (115, maybe 118, at my heaviest). It happens. I bet she did eat the damn cake, and people should stop assuming they know what goes on with thin women's bodies (that's always been a peeve of mine).

Oh, and mango sticky rice too. I'm also going to eat that.

LisaR although she mentioned that his father was perhaps emotionally abusive, has never claimed to have been raised by wolves, yet.

 

I shared my story in order to offer a different perspective as to why Lisar acts the way she does toward her parents; I said it was a possibility, not a known happening.  But thanks for your glib reply regarding my "unfortunate childhood."

Unless you are personally acquainted with Lisar and her parents, we are both just speculating here.  And if my speculation is/was true (which I really don't know either way), that's probably why their care is "dumped" on the sister and she IS keeping her kids away from them.  Again, YMMV.

Believe you me, she probably never will.  Admitting to yourself that your own parents have no love for you is one thing, but sharing it with other people.... I can't think of a more humiliating prospect.  I think that's why she goes so far in the other direction, to project this image of strong, happy, full of enthusiasm woman.  YMMV

I've had the thought too, that Lisa distances herself for a better reason than she's too fabulous for that simple place. She has said that feelings weren't acknowledged when she was young - could be tip of the iceberg.

It might've been a mistake to include the trip to clean out Lisa's things from the family house, since viewers expect to see her parents now.

Household budget isn't that difficult. Figure out your cost for monthly house payment, utility bills, school payment, groceries, cost for family vacations. Have a household account, both put equal amounts every month. pay Everthing out of that account. Pay your own credit cards and car payments out of your bank account.

Pretty simple and practical . But I'm a Virgo :)

Sounds like it would save headaches over one or the other bitching about how much was spent on a dress or a pair of shoes ect. I think Vince was playing it up for the camera.
