Next Season: What, Who Would You Like To See?

Is it too soon to ask?

Still waiting on the following:

1. an arranged marriage that the spouse is coming from overseas. So they have never met or met only once.  2. An American bringing in a Canadian spouse.  3. A gay couple.

One thing I am not waiting for: repeat of Nicole and Azan.  Just make them go away.

From what I've been told, they've tried to recruit foreign couples but no one is taking the bait. And they had a lesbian couple lined up for this past season but they broke up before filming started. They are going to have to really pull some bats out of the attic to beat what they got with Nicole and Anfisa.

I would like to see a LGBT marriage too! I remember the first (if not one of the first) couple to legally wed after DOMA repealed was pretty much the gay version of Mark and Nikki, the one husband was an older white male and the other was a very young looking southeast Asian fellow.

I also want to see more marriages like Loren and Alexei, a couple from a similar religious or ethnic background, but one being from the states and the other from the "home country", like maybe an American of Chinese descent whose been here a generation or two  going to mainland China and finding a spouse, or even a proud Irish or Italian American whose family has been here since Ellis Island going and marrying a spouse from the "old country" .

I see these marriages all the time in my own ethnic group, and even one generation of separation from the country of ethnic origin has a real effect on outlook and how one relates to the world around them.

Um, somewhat normal people in rather typical relationships & how they navigate a long distance relationship, K1 Visa, family, cultural differences, the marriage, would be fine for me instead of the (mostly) freak shows being exhibited.

By now any potential couple would have seen the show and you will only draw in the TV couples like Kris the athlete at the end of his career and Kim Kardashian

Sadly true. I wish there were actual documentaries following real couples through the K1 process as opposed to the 'reality' show, which is in large part, a show.

Linda Ling had at least one on the initial meetings. The marriage tour guys.  Louis from season one was always saying "the documentary" as the producer who reeled him in probably sold him on the show actually being. The actual 90 days is no drama, it is just moving and wedding planning. Not a trail period of proving sexual compatibility which is the hook the show is sold on. The drama is on the initial meetings and waiting for the government to give its okay.

Rather than "marriage tour guys" I'd like to see couples who met somewhat naturally, online or during travel, as to me that would indicate more of a balance & less of a 'picking a wife' out from somewhere else in the world.

Except for a vlogger recording a vacation and getting lucky they would not know that the goal was to meet someone to marry going in. The tour guys are really similar to the online guys going to meet a pre-selected one or two from a specific province of a specific country. Many come off as if they were CIA area specialist when the talk about the advantages their hunting ground compared to others favorite locations. The initial meeting is just a speed date type of situation. As opposed to a online chat before making a trip.

Yes; I meant more of an after they met accounting of the continuing relationship that's already started then going on to marriage, K1, etc... of course couldn't be caught right from the get go at meeting, but I would trade that for a more 'naturally built' relationship.

The thing is, most of the couples who have been on this show met a long time ago, spent a long time getting to know one another. This show makes it look like they just met. With Nicole and Azan, I think they actually did just meet and we see where that went. This show will continue to do the fake storylines for ratings. I would also like to see real stories, but I know this particular show won't give us that.

Also would be fun to have a show called America's Most Annoying Useless Person. Contestant suggestions: Danielle.

This is so mean, but I'm going to post it anyway. I was in Michael's to buy some craft storage for some of my projects and I thought I'd check out the Christmas clearance to see if there was ANYTHING I just couldn't live without. I saw this woman who looked similar to Danielle, who kept getting in my way. We made polite, brief conversation, and she had enough couth to apologize for dashing about all around me. I politely told her it was cool and I just didn't find anything in that aisle  I really had to have and wished her a good day.

Funny how I couldn't get past this poor woman looking enough like Danielle, except Danielle's cart would have been filled to the brim with the kitschy, useless decor she favors.

Any word if the show has had difficulties due to the new administration?  Not wishing for a political debate but just curious if this trash has been affected as I don't live in the States.  Thanks

I was thinking something along these same lines. What of our favorite show, now?

I was wondering about the same thing. Apparently the woman who was part of the shooting rampage in San Bernardino, along with her husband, got in on exactly one of these fiancee visas and was barely looked at because she was just coming in to get married. I'd be amazed if this show wasn't affected in some way.

Only if the fiance is a citizen of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, or Yemen since they are coming under the spousal visa and not as a refugee.

I saw on FB that Nicole is posting a pic of sparkly shoes (wedding shoes?) on her Instagram. Are they getting married? Wonder if their nuptials will be televised. That's a wedding that's sure to gross out a lot of viewers, myself included.

Good Gawd. I hoped that Nicole's mom would have squashed all thoughts of that. I mean the girl doesn't have two nickels to rub together.

She also doesn't have two brain cells to rub together. I foresee a lifetime of misery ahead for Azan if he marries that whiny clingy hot mess. (Well not a lifetime actually, however long he can stand her after he gets the green card.)

As for money, I'm sure whatever they get from TLC will help with a wedding.  Who knows, TLC might even be footing the bill for the whole shebang. Anything for ratings.

  • Love 9

She didn't have the money to get Azan here and her mother wouldn't help her but she said she thought she had someone lined up, which just could have been TLC. I don't put anything past them. Danielle had apparently been asking on a forum for a co-sponsor. The attorney for immigrants who posts in these threads said she came across her years ago trying to get a sponsor. I don't know if her sponsor came from that forum, but it is doubtful it was a family member since her adult son and sister were not supportive, and probably not have had the funds.

I believe that TLC would pay for the wedding, or at least give a budget for it, and may have found a sponsor for her. Azan is another Mo and Nicole is another Danielle. Dani and Mo were clearly both using each other, with her thinking he would be stuck here with her and him just using her to get here, thinking he could leave as soon as he said, "I Do," and I think they both new the other was using them. They were lightning in a bottle. I don't think Nicole thinks Azan is using her to get here. She went looking for someone who would show her off, because she couldn't find that here, moreso because of her attitude then her weight, in my opinion, and Azan took the bait, but I think she believes he actually wants to be with her. She came across as clueless and needy but I couldn't find any sympathy for her because all the evidence, including his own words, just bounced off her because it didn't fit into the fairy tale in her head.

To answer the question of the thread, I would like to see more couples, like Kyle and Noon or Alla, without the show trying to trash up the storyline by hiring a methhead stripper for her husband's bachelor party and suggesting it is his ex-wife. She was honest with the fact that she was marrying him for a chance at bettering her son's life, and she didn't find him abhorable and would try and make it work, while he was honest that he was shopping for a bride overseas because he thought they would value him more. Maybe she'll divorce him at the first chance, but she didn't act like it. I think their story and Dani/Mo were pretty honest examples of this process.  Louis & Aya, Alan & Kiryam and Mark and Nikki were also true examples, but they were thoroughly trashed up. The actual stories would be nice for a change. Mark chose a child bride and Nikki sold herself to him. We didn't need all the hubbabaloo around it. Their story was trashtastic enough.

No one that goes on this show now will receive any leeway from me. The first season thought they were filming a documentary, the second season was in the process of filming when the first season participants posted that the episodes had been morphed into something completely different than they thought they filmed. Melanie and Devar admitted that they said what they were expected to on the show, while disclosing the truth on Facebook. Jason and Cassia have said that they did what the producers asked of them, I think because they thought it would help get them a spin off but they never actually said that just kept making comments about contacting TLC to give them a show. Unfortunately for them, most of the viewers found them obnoxious, not funny like they thought they were pulling off by doing what the producers asked of them. I think the producers in the field and the editors knew how it was coming off and were giddy with excitement. People still think that they meet online, come over to the US and have to decide within 90 days if they are going to get married.

I like my trash television, but the actual, true stories are trashy enough. The "added drama" is not exciting watching. Nicole and Azan has already aired in the form of Danielle and Mohamed. They are not adding anything new and they are supporting an obvious fraud, which is now expected from TLC.

I've always wondered what that was like.  I married someone from a completely different culture, and like me, was born/raised here.  And a twist on the above - an immigrant who now has citizenship marrying someone from the "old country" and assumes that there won't be ANY cultural differences.

Darcey is 42?!!!

I don't think there will be a fifth season, since the couples they want for the TLC drama are on the borderline committing visa fraud for a TV show. These folks are from the second spin off Before the 90 Days were they will follow on a meeting trip and film them popping the question in order to qualify for the petition for the 90 days to get married in the states is submitted to the US government

When i was in my 20's I worked in a Greek restaurant, staffed almost entirely (except for waitresses, who were all young 20 something women) with relatives and folks from the hometown in Greece. My roommate for a time was a girl named Penny who wasn't an immigrant but was first generation Greek American, spoke Greek and was very connected to her culture. Her boyfriend Yanni was off the boat from Greece. They had a terrible time. For all that she was connected to and proud of her culture, so much so that she wanted a Greek man, she was an American girl, and he was an old fashioned, provincial, conservative Greek guy. It did not end well and left her heartbroken. Yanni ended up marrying a girl from the island they were all from less than a year after they broke up. All of the men at this place had sweet, doe eyed, well behaved wives that they'd imported from the hometown. (Except one of the owners, who had an American wife. We used to joke about it--the brother who had an American wife had three kids, who were hellions and we dreaded seeing them in the restaurant. The other brother had a demure Greek wife, and something like seven angelic, well behaved kids!)

YASSS!!!

There should always be some iteration of 90 day fiance airing new episodes on TLC. Hopefully this will be premiering as 'before the 90 days' wraps up. I will get the shakes if I don't have mess to vent my spleen on.

Ugh, I can't stand Nicole. Really, really dislike her, and I don't even know her. She's like Danielle for me. I'm afraid I'll end up quitting this show because of her, just like I did the After the 90 Days this season, because I was tired of almost ALL of them.

Why must you ruin my good thing with obnoxious and annoying jerks, TLC? Although, you probably don't have any interest in being on a TLC show if you don't meet that criteria. There were several couples on the show who would have had a good story but since they didn't embarrass themselves like Danielle and Nicole, their stories were truncated and not told. I like trash television, but sometimes it's just a little too much trashy and becomes annoying and not enjoyable to watch.
