Plus info on featured players https://tvline.com/casting-news/snl-season-50-cast-chloe-troast-leaving-new-actors-list-1235328353/ That shocks me. And it saddens me that three women and non-binary cast members are the one not asked back. I liked all three but I would have for sure thought that Chloe did enough to earn another year at SNL. Avabelle September 10 Share September 10 Agree. I liked Chloe and thought she made a good mark. I’m surprised she wasn’t asked back. Molly didn’t do much but I figured as she made it through the first year she’d be back. Was Punkie axed or did she leave by choice? 3 Link to comment

It depends on how you describe "big" success, but I can think of three women off the top of my head who were let go after a year or year and a half that work pretty regularly: Jenny Slate, Michaela Watkins, and Casey Wilson. 3 Link to comment

Crashcourse September 10 Share September 10 Honestly, I don't even remember Chloe Troast. I remember Punkie and Molly, but I didn't think they were that good. 1 1 Link to comment

She could always be counted on to bring it even when the sketch was nothing special. Chloe Troast will be a loss, too. Molly Kearney won't be. I don't feel like Kearney ever really worked on the show. 2 1 Link to comment

Chloe was definitely a standout and Molly's a very reliable and funny sketch player. Edited September 12 by JeanJean 4 Link to comment

absnow54 September 12 Share September 12 I’m surprised they held onto Michael Longfellow. I like him, but he hasn’t had many impactful appearances. Maybe they’re grooming him to take over Weekend Update when Colin and Michael eventually leave. 2 Link to comment
peeayebee September 12 Share September 12 I wouldn't mind Michael leaving. I'm not a fan. I do like Punkie. Like others said, she always adds something to sketches. 2 Link to comment
possibilities September 13 Share September 13 Maybe Punkie left because they weren't going to let her play Kamala? I would have liked to see that, frankly. I like Punkie. 2 Link to comment

Slade347 September 18 Share September 18 Two hosts and a musical guest in their 70s. I'm old, so I appreciate that. Oh, and the hosts, at least, are still at the top of their game and will probably be up for anything, which is what really matters. 1 Link to comment
possibilities September 18 Share September 18 It's interesting that Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks are on the same night. Ariana is there as host, not musical aguest. Link to comment
baldryanr September 18 Share September 18 John Mulaney hosted the last episode before the 2020 election, so maybe they're trying to start a tradition. Makes you wonder if they're trying to get Dave Chappelle to host the first episode after the election again. Link to comment
DanaK September 19 Share September 19 Lorne Michaels not leaving after Season 50 after all (he had indicted previously he would) https://tvline.com/news/snl-lorne-michaels-not-leaving-season-50-saturday-night-live-1235332395/ 2 2 Link to comment
possibilities September 19 Share September 19 What would probably make the most sense would be to bring someone on as his successor and have him guide them through the transition. I wonder if they don't have someone they want, who also wants the job, and have thrown an avalanche of money at him to keep him there. 2 Link to comment
Avabelle September 19 Share September 19 Whoever comes in after him will be damned no matter what they do. The boots are probably too big to fill. 2 Link to comment

My first thoughts after reading the article were "I wonder if he doesn't want to leave yet, or they don't have someone to replace him yet." I can see it both ways. Either way, though, they probably threw a bunch of money at him, regardless. 1 Link to comment
Carey September 20 Share September 20 So much for posting about my thoughts of Lorne's (now no longer official) exit after Season 50. Really, it was just thoughts about how the entire cast exited during a show-runner's exit (1980 & 1985), along with a comparison to TPIR following their 35th season, and how the show would die without Bob. Pretty good news to be honest. Although exiting after the 50th season as mentioned would be a great time to bolt, if he's in fairly decent health, I wouldn't be surprised to see him continue, if possible until the end of the decade. That way, it's 50 years as the EP Link to comment

Irlandesa September 20 Share September 20 It's funny because I thought for sure I read that he had already changed his mind about a year or so ago. But then the media spoke as if his retiring was a real possibility, so I thought I had made it up in my head. And it makes sense. He probably thought 50 years sounded good when 50 was an abstract concept. Now that it's closer, actually stopping working doesn't sound as appealing. Link to comment
