I liked WG saying, "yeah, Trump is very entertaining, unless you're Mexican." thank you WG. I hate that the table were all saying how entertaining Trump is. Trump is a bigot asshole. He is playing to the most hateful and scared segment of this country.

Haven't seen the show, but this show has an annoying history of asking guests about other people. Like the time they spent most of an interview with Morgan Freeman talking about Heath Ledger, with whom he had worked on The Dark Knight. Wasting valuable interview time on Elizabeth Warren about a person she's probably never met or wasted 2 minutes thinking about is such a waste of her time and the viewers'.

I wouldn't mind seeing BaWa come back ... very occasionally.  Say, every other Friday. She was clearly not in her best state during the last couple years she was on the show, but even during that time, she was able to pull it together for appearances on late night talk shows. I think she could be an asset to the show she created if used on a very limited basis. If she managed to come across as the Barbara Walters most of America remembers, and not as the person she was the last few years she appeared on a daily basis, it would not only enhance her legacy (and we all know how concerned she is with her legacy), but it would also be a throwback to her best work on The View.

Maybe there was too much of a disconnect between her being on the panel nearly every day and then just disappearing completely.  I am no fan of hers, but I would like to see her return, on a very limited basis, and only if she is not the embarrassment she became the last few years she appeared regularly.

Jeez, Babs? Really? Gah. If she just HAS to be on, make it a day when she can annoy the shit out of Whoopi and complete the task off running her off the show. But no Babs on Friday please.

Let's keep Friday a Joy show -- assuming we'll be Whoopi-free and Joy will moderate then.

Interesting that Julie Chen would tell Howard Stern about their "girls lunch" and everyone (presumably colleagues) advising Barbara to not return under any circumstances.  Wonder if that was Barbara sanctioned.  Julie Chen isn't really a public gossip.

After seeing Whoopie on ET last night and her very adamant insistence that Rosie O would not be making an appearance, I wondered if BW was still involved. BW always seemed very fond of Rosie, and, last night Whoopie came off as the judge and the jury as to who would be allowed on the show.

Unless Whoopi is now an executive producer or producer on this show, she has NO say on who will come back or can appear on this show.  Clearly, she had no say in getting rid of Rosie--she just bullied her off, or made it nigh impossible for her stay, making a liar out of myself, for thinking that Whoopi could be the professional instead of acting like a scairt bully who needed to "mark" her "territory" and let all and sundry know it was her show.

I'm so glad that Joy is back on the show. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be watching if she weren't there, even for the snark value. She keeps the show moving and is obviously well read and intelligent, and her interviewing skills are great. I also like the fact that they are interviewing guests on the couch and with enough time to let them actually talk.

I just can't appreciate Michelle's annoying humor (?). I still don't know about Paula Faris. Did they bring her on to be another conservative Christian? I haven't seen her on GMA, so I don't know much about her journalistic skills.

Not sure about her. I had the show on and was only half listening. They were all talking over each other and Paula became unglued about something.

I don't think she and Raven will be best friends!

Also, I think she also four days a week and off on Fridays.

Well, today she announced that she was a born-again christian and muddled through some sort of explanation about that absolving sins so you would be welcomed into heaven.  Or something.

Am recording the show now that Joy is back on to check out the new season. Have enjoyed the discussions (e.g. Hillary emails) but they do need to control the cross talk.

On a more superficial level, like the table and new set design but Raven's outfits for some reason bug me. I am fine with Whoopies relaxed, big cotton bag lady outfits and fun shoes - that has been her style for years. But today While everyone else was in one layer and casual, she was super fussy: top, shirt and coat (3 layers?!), many pieces of jewelry, big swirly hair and heavy makeup. Is that her "look" ? To always be overly done, styled and accessorized?

@TheView a question for @realDonaldTrump Since you produce your products overseas, how can you say you will be a jobs President for America?

Didn't Barbara sell her stake in the View?  She can't just decide she wants to come back.

The season has just started.  I think by Christmas ABC will have a better idea of where they want to go from here.  As I said in a different post I think having so many women co-hosting and "contributing" is just a way for ABC to try out different combinations to see what works.

I think Paula Faris brought up her religion as one aspect of her, and I'm fine with that.

Someone asked why the conservative hosts have such dislike thrown their way, and my feeling is that they brand themselves, rather than make their political beliefs just an aspect of the overall person. I think it was obvious, but unstated, with Elisabeth:  she was there solely to present the conservative viewpoint, with a big dollop of jingoistic patriotism. With Nicholle, it wasn't even subtle: "As a Republican...." "I'm the Republican!"

So, I do have a problem with people who brand themselves as Christians, or anything else, to be honest.  I don't -- so far -- have a problem with Paula Faris saying she's a Christian, because -- so far -- she isn't making that her label.  I think she brought it up to show where she was coming from, and Joy ("why do you have to be born again? Isn't once enough?") and Michelle ("Hey, I'm Jewish") both derailed her and distracted her from whatever point she was trying to make by bringing it up.

And, just a personal note, not all Christians are conservative.  (raises hand, displays Flaming Liberal, Falling Off The Left Side of the Planet card.)

The execs got what they desperately needed with Joy - someone to call Whoopi on her BS. RO was too much of a fan. IMO Joy sees herself as at least Whoopi's equal and perhaps her better in some areas. She's sharper and more knowledgeable about current events and politics. And she can articulate her positions better. Michelle and Raven seem superfluous now. I'd take Paula over CCB any day.

Agreed - the show today was a mess. I imagine Whoopi had been spoken to about her comments on RO last night and then the latest nasty interview about her thoughts on RO returning occasionally. And BW the same. LOL, Whoopi has lost any real or perceived clout she had about her power at the show. Time to go back to sleep Whoopi, PLEASE! And I hope her saying she will keep Fridays off plus 1 other day a week is true.

Joy and Paula will stand up to her.

OMG - so now Raven has taken to written notes on her opinions. Good grief, one has an opinion or a hasty new one that needs to be read. I think she said her words get mixed up.

I was amazed at how Raven and Michelle are out of their element when not talking fluff or celebrities.

And STFU Michelle. All your unfunny jokes and long winded explanations to get to them or explaining them is such a waste of time. And why on earth did she say GW Bush was a pipsqueak? He is 6', Jeb 6'3" and she herself 6'1". Again with criticism that was uncalled for. But I suppose she is unable to think of anything political to criticize about him. What a year to have the next Dumb and Dumber on the show.

Paula, I sincerely hope you won't tell us over and over you are a born again Christian. The thought of Paula and Candace is too much for me.

As is RS and MC and I absolutely won't watch them with SS when she appears.

Well you have to remember Barbara thinks she is still somewhat relevant at ABC and in the world at large.

Joy can handle Whoopie, unlike Rosie...

I don't agree w/ this....Rosie gave up after being "cock-blocked" by Whoopi at every turn...let's see how Joy handles things when Whoopi decides to focus everything on Joy and her opinions.  I think Rosie O did the wise thing by leaving b/c at some point you have to realize no matter how much you decide to keep quiet or kowtow it's not worth it.  They always say leave your work-stress at work, but we all know at the end of the day, it's easier said than done.

Joy and Paula will stand up to her.

I loved that Paula, right out of the gate, stood up to Whoopi yesterday.  I don't know this Paula woman from a hole in the wall but she gets my respect for that.  It's so easy to be starstruck these days, but then again Whoopi Goldberg hasn't been relevant since what....the early 90's?

Joy did not seem happy with the show. Between the irrelevant cross talk and the stupid tweets she was losing patience trying to get her point out.

I thought she seemed that way, too. I don't blame her. It seemed like her and Paula would be having one discussion while Raven/Michelle would be off in their own little world interrupting them every other time they spoke.

I like that Paula doesn't back down and can speak coherently (and without screaming), but she's already on my nerves with her Trump this and Trump that and oh Trump said this. Loved Whoopi putting the kibosh on that with the Mexican comment. The only thing I'm wondering is why did they even need Candace with Paula there?

I'm glad reading the tweets was assigned to Raven. The tweets have more to offer than she does. I thought Michelle would be a little better than it seems she is. She's never able to turn herself off and be serious. She inserts complete, irrelevant nonsense into every serious topic. It's not even the jokes, it's that she never has a point; she's just throwing a bunch of words at the wall and hoping someone laughs. I don't hate her, but she's not very good at this.

In regards to Barbara, the only way she works is if she's moderator. She's good at that job. As a regular co-host, she's really awful.

Michelle's only serious moment during HT was when she kept telling the other panelists (specifically Raven/Whoopi) that there was depression involved in the Ashley Madison fallout. She was correct but it sort of got shuffled in between her jokes (seriously she's always making them! It's distracting more so than Joy's were).

I think Joy has been keeping up with the show and saw what a mess it was and is looking to fix that--she's reigning in the discussions, keeping it going and them on track (which is what WHOOPI should be doing as the mod).

Meanwhile Whoopi is clearly upset that Joy was brought back at all and moderating on Fridays, when ABC knew she wouldn't agree to do it. Sneaky but hey, if she cared enough Whoopi would put more effort in.

-Loved when Joy redirected everyone back on topic when they started to go off on one of their totally unrelated tangents. Blew kisses at TV.

-I can accept kooky Raven. Her out-of-the-box observations/opinions lend a touch of the unexpected.

-Michelle was trying way too hard today.... panic over the criticism received for her comments about the ugly Kentucky woman's looks. Yep. I said it. Ugly.

-So, if one is born again, all past sins can't be used to demonstrate one's current judgmental hypocrisy? Got it. Reject it.

-NO Barbara Walters, please.

Ok, people. For me... so far so good. Not perfect, but promising.

I’ve only watched a few Hot Topic clips, but I’ll forge ahead with my miss-informed opinions:
Candace and Raven – puuhleeeze, give us some time with them together… looking forward to their discussions and a dose of Joy to give perspective to that mess.
Raven – I’m an admitted hate-watcher, but her attitude and stink-eye make it worth it. She better pick her fights carefully with her new, smarter co-hosts.
Whoopi –appears to be seething. What’s next? Seems she tried to book a job by interrupting a Joy and Raven guest interview this morning.
Joy – joy!

I think that Rosie's private life was in turmoil while she was on the show, and that made her vulnerable to Whoopi's bullying. I can't see that happening with Joy, she seems to be on an even keel and I doubt Whoopi will upset her, although it may get tiring having to single-handedly fact-check everyone.

I'm not sure who Paula Faris is (is she from GMA? What happened to the other one who just announced she's pregnant) but I really don't need to know that she's a Christian. Guess what? I'm Jewish but I don't go proclaiming that to everyone everywhere. It informs my opinions and outlook, but I don't preface every sentence with, "As a Jew, I think that marriage equality is just dandy." I don't need to add my religion to express my opinion.

And her explanation of born-again, that "we're all sinners," as a Jew, I don't believe that.

I'm okay with the mechanics of being "born again" being explained once, and once only.  I don't need a morning talk show on network television evangelizing a brand a Christianity that I personally find dangerous and abhorrent.  I can't even imagine a panel with Faris, Bure and Shepherd.

I know people didn't like Nicolle, but this is far, far worse.

Maybe I'll just watch the Friday shows, I'm already sick of Faris and the Trump baloney, it's all the rage in the media, dontcha know.

You know, I never really thought about all three of them together.  Keep forgetting about Sherri (out of sight, out of mind).  At that point all the God talk would just sound like the teacher on any Charlie Brown special.

The heavy blanket of religion only bothers me when it's center stage in politics or law.  To me, that group that gathered, waving white crosses (wasn't the cross an execution device?) and chanting for Kim Davis, her prize-winning husband, and Huckabee, just looked like a bunch of mental patients.  The whole lot of them.  Someone should tap Huckabee on the shoulder and tell him to sit DOWN….you will never, ever, ever be president of the United States.

I see that many of you are happy about Joy's return.  I always thought that she was too mean-spirited for my taste.  I will say that she is knowledgeable  on politics, but her pop culture smarts stopped in the 90's.  One person not happy with her today???  Little Miss Raven.  Joy stepped all over her attempt to ask Trump a question.  Butted right in.

What is wrong with these people?  The reason Hillary Clintons poll number dropped is because another Dem entered the race.

The reason Trump's numbers are HIGH is because he's been front and center in the media, and for so many people, he's the only name they know.

Trump is such a liar. His words re: Carly Fiorina

"Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!"

That is not talking about her "persona." He insults hispanics, women, the President, and the core of his party loves him for it. Sure says a lot about the current state of the GOP.

A friend of mine put out a challenge..... name all the Republican candidates without looking..... Now I consider myself pretty informed..... but when I made that attempt I could only come up with 9 of them..... and we have to realize... most people are not paying attention yet.

Anyone see Joy's face when Whoopi ended the show with, "Enjoy any View you happen upon"? LOL I guess it's starting with Whoopi, being a diva at the end of the segment with the Muslim because Joy was talking.

I wonder if Whoopi will be there tomorrow since there's only 4 days this week.
