Unpopular Opinions

My current unpopular opinion is.....I like Ben (telling Abifail off) that is. While I do not condone murder, I love Ben telling her exactly what he (and a large portion of viewers) really think about her. She needs a good dose of reality and put in a position to where she can't wiggle or lie her way out of her wrongdoing.

If it's unpopular then I"m on that train, too. I wish he'd stay and Abil would go..up in flames.

I'm sad that Doug's barbershop quartet for the bicentennial never saw the light of day.

Was it supposed to? I don't remember him saying they would perform...

I like Doug and Julie too. They are dorky and sweet and upbeat, things the show desperately lacks!

I Find Steve and Kayla bores.  The deadbeat Steve is not boring imo but the self righteous trollop lover is.

Whoa, bobcat! That's almost fightin' words, lol. Hope you succumb to their charms at some point so you can enjoy their storyline as much as I am : )

Is Lucas really Jennifer's half brother?? Wow. She's really been showing it lately, Hun?

I had to bring this to the UO thread.

This has always bothered me as a fan of Days that Lucas being a 'Horton' but he sure doesn't embody it much.

I mean I get why James Reilly made him one because it was a play on history, but, Lucas and Jennifer hardly acknowledge they are brother and sister onscreen. I get in real life, even my own, sometimes half siblings might not be as close but when it comes to soaps I would at least like those scenes play out sometimes like we get with say Bo and his half siblings and Hope with Julie.

Sometimes I question was it ever a smart thing to make Lucas a Horton especially since his sister and brother Mike hardly have him and vice versa in their orbits.

I have always felt that Will, Allie and Lucas were Teflon  Hortons..It would have been better to keep Lucas a Roberts, keeping his father a secret and bring him onto the show at a later date to spice things up with Kate and Victor, when they were happily married...Plus, it would have given Lucas more romantic possibilities in the Horton family like Sarah Horton..I  have always liked Lucas with siblings via his mother anyway....Just like his mother, we see a different side of Lucas with each of his siblings....

The thing is, Bo grew up with the Bradys, thinking he was a Brady. Julie was in love with Hope's father, and Addie died when Hope was a baby. Meanwhile, Lucas and Jennifer (and Mike) were adults when they found out Bill was Lucas's father. Lucas didn't even come to Salem until he was a teen.

For a while, they were writing Lucas more into Jennifer's family. He made no bones about telling her that Daniel was a terrible match for her. He's reached out to Abigail and JJ from time to time. Lucas seems to be one of those characters the writers forget, far too often.

Yeah, I didn't like the decision to make it a retcon Horton.

Since Kate was a hoe, it'd been ok if he hadn't known he had a father or made him a son to an organized crime family. That would had given him more spice as a character then being a Horton.

I'll still never understand why this show ignores Sarah Horton (or a less degree Sandy). She is like the forgotten Horton. It would be perfect timing to bring her back on the canvas with

Daniel bitting the dust soon. But instead we get the show eater Melanie returning.

Where are Hope's brother and Julie's son...They should be on the show as male Hortons..

Exactly. Since this show is slowly but surely making the Bradys irrelevant (which still is ugh) they should bring on David Banning and Steven Olson. Then apart of me is like don't come back to Salem you might get under used or killed off

Yes. I fell this way too. Within a matter of months, Kayla will most likely be the only Brady on canvas.

That's not quite true because Theresa, Shawn, Ciara, Joey and Claire are all Bradys and Roman is still on, so they are definitely being represented.

Well, Theresa didn't warrant an invite to Bo's funeral or Thanksgiving, and since returning to the show in July, I have seen her have two scenes with Eric (both were Brady driven), one scene with Caroline, and no scenes with Kayla or her cousins, I question whether the writers remember she is a Brady.

Only time will tell how the remaining next generation of Brady's are treated.

This is totally my bias, but I like to forget JT is playing Roman until the show forces me to remember.

I don't find Andre amusing and wish Stefano would kill him.

Cosign

The only good thing about Andre is the fact that Chad gets some good one liners in around him...and some of the looks Chad gives him are great.

I would love to see Ben sitting in jail entertaining the prisoners for Christmas by telling them how he attempted to roast two nuts in an open fire.

Chad isn't nutty so I can only assume you refer to Abifail and the cohones she apparently possesses.

Well, the fact that Chad even wants Abifail at all doesn't speak well for his mental state. I am a Chad fan and like him even more when he isn't with her. It's all in good fun :)

What man in his right mind would want his brother's side piece.

Well, I hate JPL as Philip, as expected. The unpopular part is that I hated Jay whatshisname too. The only Philip I found even remotely likable, if a but dumb, was the guy from some reality show.

I've to some degree liked the lowkey sexual tension between Hope and John especially since the PG storyline back in the late 90s-early 2000s.  In this clip, DH does more than his usual "sniff a fart" acting but I swear the man went full on soft porn star with the facial expressions  I found it to be hilarious.

They teased that tension around 2012, too. They went off somewhere..it was in the middle of Will's coming out story...Marlena was wanting John to call her and he didn't...when Will came over...so like 2011-2012 winter.

I don't mind them when they're being a happy couple...but that's so damn rare. 90% of the time, John is pretending to be "busy" with work, or being an ass to Marlena, or they're negotiating the terms on their tenth engagement and its just like...what's your freaking problem people?! Didn't John almost die in that coma? Didn't Marlena almost die in the Tunnels of Paris? Haven't you lost enough time already? Just be sweet to each other and laugh and be involved in your kids lives and BE HAPPY!

When your partner of presumably 30+ years has to hand you a blank diary so the relationship can have a symbolic do-over...y'all got issues.

They used to have scenes where they spoke like normal adults and planned together and consulted with each other. Now it's like they have separate kids, jobs, etc. Makes me annoyed. Why isn't Marlena part of you researching your past, John? Wouldn't she be the first person you would speak to about looking into your origins?

They're nice at times, but I really don't think the writers give them material that makes their relationship enjoyable for us viewers.

And John never apologized properly (or at all) for trying to shag Kristen "to save Brady". MmmmHmmmm. Riiiight. Sure thing, bub.

Theo. I've side-eyed the show and have always, always felt some type of way about the writers making the show's only minority legacy character have autism.  I know they (meaning Dena) set out to try to educate viewers about the disease, which they did a bad job of IMHO but it has the long term effect of not making him a viable character on the same level as the other legacy children. Just how convenient is that. Now he is likely less likely to have a love interest or story. YMMV.

I like forever youthful dimpled Wally Kurth and I've liked Judy Evans since Guiding Light but I don't see the point of them on the show since Sonny left.

Not an unpopular opinion but a slight annoyance. When they have patients in hospital scenes that are hooked up to the heart rate monitors, I hate when the heart rate beeps never change even when the patient is very emotional and upset. Like when Brady and Eric found out about Daniel's death, the beeps never sped up. They always remained the same.

The same questions were raised when Y&R d died to give Lily cancer and make her unable to have children. Because they don't shoot half a year in advance, they altered the story and produced the born by someone else twins using Lily's eggs story. Any long-time watcher of Days knows how tightly it embraces its racism, even when viewers of all races see chemistry between black and white characters (think Kayla and Marcus, Abe and Faye, Sami and Brandon, etc.). Frankly, given the historical dearth of black characters on the show, I'm surprised how many potential pairings there were. So I too am curious what they plan on doing with Theo in a genre where coupledom goes hand-in-hand with breathing. Maybe he will get the best friend role like his dad did without the token black couple who both spark with other more tag that Aba and Lexie had.

I'm not a fan of the teen scene (a sign I"m getting old? LOL)...but I wouldn't mind Theo with someone. Autism doesn't mean you can't fall in love. They could really explore how the disease effects relationships and friendships instead of this bullying bullshit.

Happytobehere, you are making me sad, when you bring up Marcus and Kayla. Richard Briggs was a great actor. May he rest in peace! I wanted them to fall in love with each other, while grieving for Steve. Can you imagine the angst that could have caused when Steve came back from the dead. Instead the show did that awful pairing, when they put Kayla with Shane...what were they thinking with that insane pairing. Kayla and Shane would never have done that to Kim. Shane was so matter of fact about hurting Kim. It pissed me off..I remember that there was a backlash and the idiots in charge mercifully put an end to that pairing..The show was trying to sell that pairing like it was the best thing, since sliced bread..
