Yes, they're rather corny, but I think every family has one of those couples that is really happy to the point of it being a little irritating and dopey. Mostly, I just interpret it as the actors being grateful to come back to a job I assume they enjoyed. Days has always had a problem with keeping the canvas full of interesting stories for all of the generations of characters. Plus, considering how sidelined Hope has been the last few years, it's very nice to see so many of her family members back in her life. It would have been great if instead of all of this Abigail and Ben drama, we could have seen a nice dinner where Hope could introduce Aidan to Julie, Doug and Shawn Douglas formally and retell some stories. No they rarely manage to find two actors with chemistry anymore, yet alone write them a good story, build the romance and sexual tension, and then deliver the pay-off moments. But then I suspect Ken Corday wouldn't know romance if it bit him in the ass. To me the romance really took back sit once Reilly took over the show in the 90ss and hasnt recovered since. The writers in the 80s and early 90s wrote Days as one big romance-adventure-drama. It was some great stuff based off what Ive on YouTube through the years. Wayne and Deidre were hot as all get out. Shocking twists is what makes great soaps before and after Reilly. I personally enjoyed his great reveals when it involved Marlena, Sami or Kristen. And I do respect him for his ratings gains post-OJ. Days was number 7 in the ratings than when MarDevil happened the show shot to number 2 and was number 1 in the key demos and stayed that way for four years. Yet it started a trend in monkey see monkey do with other soaps. Every show tried doing micro chips, electronic shock, doppelgangers and other crazy over the top soap gimmicks that other shows didn't need. Even when he wrote Passions and Days at the same time in the mid 2000s before his death he burnt himself out and never recaptured the magic he once had. 2 Link to comment

If anything Anderson had to rain Reilly in from getting too crazy (which he did anyhow). I miss her writing personally.Oh and did mention how I depised how he bastardized the Roman Brady character. Considering that since he fell for Kristin, he hasn't shown much compassion, generosity of spirit or playfulness. I'd like to credit the writers with delivering on the long-term fallout from that relationship...but I think that would be a step too far. Seems more likely a coincidence, since everything in soap land moves at light speed. Poor Brady's been mired down in Cave Man mode since 2013. But while he was with Kristin? He kind of a lovable lug. A moron? Absolutely. But a moron with heart, and interests (Art! Piano!?) and a conscience (I'll move into the DiMansion to make you happy!) and that character is nowhere to be found now. I don't agree that Davidson made Martsolf step up his game at all. He just looked more rational in comparison with the bug-eyed, tic-infested cartoon that Davidson's performance became. And the stuff with her and John at the cabin is great too. And yes, she and Eric M are pretty electric together. I remember the Patrick/Hope/Bo triangle, it was the copycat/knockoff version of Damien/Lily/Holden from ATWTs. I'm not even going to lie as a huge Bo and Hope fan, this trig played with my loyalty! I was team Hatrick one week then go team Bope then next. I almost wish too Ciara was Patrick's too when Hope found out she was pregnant. But when the writers fucked up Patrick, I was done. She accepted the situation and 3's company worked well. I didn't want to see Ari in black, but show missed a big opportunity for her to mourn him. I hate to say I "love" it but she and JJ have things in common. I love it how they're putting the brakes on each other. And Jenn hasn't found out about it and shouted honey yet. At least with Hope, Rafe looks like he has fully rolled out of bed in the morning. They teased it a long time ago. If worked and it was the only thing I didn't like about inserting Aiden. Well, that and the stupid cabin mystery. Which would have worked if we had found out he had in fact murdered his wife. It would have given reason for him to go after Hope in the end. I think NuCiara's jaw issues mimic her mother's. So it doesn't bother me much other than her being too old for the part because it seems to me she was hired on looks. Steve isn't musically talented. He's great because he has heart and is rough around the edged. And in the middle, too. That's our Steve and of course Kayla knows about the harmonica. At first I hated the "Kayla is loopy over fumes" thing because it wasn't needed. Until she mentioned her fond memory of book club pot brownies. Hee! Her position on the bed is damned awkward, as if giant alien baby is on a blanketed dog bed and she's sideways leaning over it. She has tears now. Oil tears. Hope carressing a gun is not cute. Next thing you know she is going to be back on crazy pills and burning down the house. Just when we got Happy Hope back. I miss Lucas a lot. Cheeses, just one shot of Kate and Lucas mourning Will, please. And him saying Happy Thanksgiving I'm going to CA to father the kids to explain his absence. Since Ken Corday hated Sami and EJ together, they should have let Sami and Lucas be a real couple, and all four of Sami's children should have been Lucas. The scenes with Lucas/Sami/EJ/Stefano/Kate would have been priceless. Stefano: "I thought you hated Samantha." Kate: "I do, but she would kill or die for Lucas, and her children.
