It's not a favorite ad, but I want to give Carl's Jr. some credit for actual improvement.  In the commercial where the guy commandeers his damaged car from the shop and drives off with it, he now is shown just sitting in his car eating a burger instead of smashing the car into a Carl's Jr.  It only took about 100,000 airings of the original ad before they realized it wasn't a great idea!

I like the new mayhem one where he is a bee stuck in the car & the woman is freaking out, we've all been there.

I've never had a bee in the car, but I did have a bird. Last time I ever drove around with all the windows down.

Admittedly a Chiefs homer and a ride-or-die for Patrick.  But this is the greatest non-beer ad he’s made since the last one (grilling w/a bear):

So do I. That would so be me.

Tried to link the Patrick/Coors Light/“Most Refreshing Bear” ad I mentioned.  It’s age-restricted (bc it mentions beer!!!!!!!), so it’s easier just to go to YT & search the above.

Worth it.  And make sure you read the subtitles (“Available in non-carnivorous”).

Maybe not exactly favorite, but “made me mildly chuckle the first few times I saw it”. The ad with Jennifer Aniston that’s airing about four times per episode of The Bear, where she’s explaining to someone that if you want to remember something, you have to forget something else, and goes on to not recognize the “Rachel” haircut on someone, or remember the fact that she once played a “Rachel”.  Funny the second or third time, maybe gets old after that.

What’s it for, you may ask? I guess I forgot!

I do find the one where the guy forgets to wear pants to the office amusing as well.  It's for Grub Hub or DoorDash or Uber Eats, one of those food delivery apps, I think.

I liked an earlier one where she doesn’t recognize David Schwimmer.

I just want to say, the ad for Frog Tape where the people are pulling the tape off after their paint job  - very satisfying. Maybe that’s my visual asmr ?

I admit I've always liked the J G Wentworth (877CASH NOW!!) ads, because the opera singing is pretty good, the jingle is super-catchy and the costumes are funny.

There's a new one that made me laugh the other day, with the 'opera' being done in a roller rink .Roller Rink Opera

One of the singers onstage is wearing a gown in a shade of gold that is gorgeous.

I've always thought those commercials were goofy and fun.

I like this ad too, but since I have no clue what "visual asmr" is, I put it down to enjoying things like picking scabs and ripping bandaids off.

Cracks me up! They just take it so seriously!🤣

I can remember when Ice T was such a controversial rapper, now he's doing mainstream Cheerios commercials!

Without googling any exact definitions, I'll try to explain what I meant.  I understand "asmr" to be the "thing" where some people find certain sounds very soothing or satisfying.  Like crinkling, whispering...  There seem to be lots of videos available for people who like that kind of thing.

To me, that ad was a visual version of something very satisfying - pulling off the tape to see the sharp clean edges between the painted surfaces.  (Something I was never able to accomplish that well, tape or no tape.)

I didn't know there was an Emmy category for commercials.

Yeah, the Clio Awards cover commercials. Surprised that Emmy would cover them too.

Probably putting them in the comedy category along with whatever else they feel like throwing in there.

Nor did I, so I figured it was new, but I just looked it up and it goes back to 1997!  I knew it hadn't been that long since I watched an awards ceremony (almost, but not quite), so my next assumption was that award is given out during the Creative Arts ceremony, not the main televised one, and that time I was correct.  So that's how some of us managed to never stumble across the fact such an award exists.

I hadn't seen most of the nominees (only "Like a Good Neighbaaa"), so looked them up last night.  I liked the Sandy Hook Promise PSA "Just Joking" best.

Aw, I like Tide's Olympic commercial; it manages to use the sports stars (who aren't actors) without being cringey:

The way Carl Lewis says "Dangit" amuses me.

Wow, if the "Like a Good Neighbor" commercials are up for an award, that's a pretty low bar.

I think it's the ones with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I think those are pretty funny.

Yes, it's not the "Like a Good Neighbor" series (which has been going on for years), but specifically the "Like a Good Neighbaaa" commercial, with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On a vaguely related note: I sit in on settlement conferences for civil lawsuits in my courthouse, and one of the attorneys for State Farm is named Jake.

Bless his heart. I wonder how many times he gets razzed about that.

I know I made a joke the first time I met him.  He was very nice about it despite probably having heard it a lot.

As a little old lady myself, I enjoy this Carvana commercial that overtly flips stereotypes of age and gender on their heads:
https://www.ispot.tv/ad/5F2P/carvana-grandmas-hel

First, Grandma is more hip than young-adult grandson regarding the use of a phone app to sell a car.
Then, at the end of the commercial, Grandma decides that granddaughter will probably know more about the remote than grandson.

This was on Pluto TV, which had other commercials that got my stamp of approval. I just have to take notes next time, because I can't remember what the commercials were.👵

I like that one too because the flip with the Grandma knowing how to do it and not the grandson.

However, the Carvana ad with the two women... the one of 'em screaming, 'Say WHAAAAT?"  and each time it gets higher pitched.  How do people even MAKE that sound?  I've tried and scared the cat with my attempts.  Never got near that annoying squeal.

Just saw the Volkswagen ad. A guy sits on a park bench, starts to eat a sandwich and notices a pigeon staring expectantly at him. So he throws a piece of the roll. As the pigeon starts to peck at the crumb, a horde of his fellow pigeons swoop in, not only onto the pigeon but also onto the nice guy who was sharing his lunch. I burst out laughing because many moons ago, the same thing happened to me, sitting on a bench in Boston Common. Yikes...it reminded me of that awful movie, The Birds!

I love that commercial because the same thing happened to me when I was sitting in a park.

I've only seen 2 TV ads for Open Door, the service that claims it will buy your house as-is, & I really like them both.

The first is played constantly, featuring a Black sports star being interviewed about a possible trade, who's dismayed at the thought of having to move, with strangers judging his carpet & a faux ficus being installed in his home!  When he's assured that Open Door will buy his place without questions, he's readily prepared to re-locate.

The second is new to me, with a crew of astronauts stuck on the space station indefinitely wondering how to sell their home from outer space -- when Open Door is mentioned, one of them squeals "Don't open the door!".  Really quite funny, & unexpected.
