S04.E21: Aftermath

Recommended Posts

Ok well I guess Victoria is going to get the last laugh. I'm betting her and mason sail off into the sunset together.

And really, Ben would be the one interrogating and arresting Emily?

And come on show, can't you cut Nolan a break? The guy really does deserve a happy ending after everything.

Mason Treadwell is the last one to get revenge? Hell, no. As soon as I saw that tissue and the car handle, I thought he was trying to hide fingerprints. The magical self-deleting message was amusing, too. I can't wait until he dies. That's what Ems gets for showing an ounce of mercy.

It kinds of seems like either Victoria is alive, or Amanda thinks Victoria is alive. Either option is pretty dumb. Plus, we get a bunch of Margaux and Louise. Time for some Charlotte to ruin the show for good.

I am very worried that ABC is going to strive for Five seasons. It doesn't seem like it, but the set up has me questioning.

I knew Victoria framed Emily but I didn't see that Mason was in on it.  Quite a good frame job.

I didn't think I could hate Louise and Margaux more than I already did.

That contrived ending for Nolan and Tony was absolutely ridiculous.  I don't know why they felt they had to do that.

Well, the next two episodes are going to be very interesting.

I think Emily only thinks Victoria is alive.  I don't think she really is.

The actress herself confirmed that she's not coming back, so they would have to get a new actress which would suck.  They should not drag this mess out any further.  I hate the new characters, Emily has to be dumbed down for this contrived afterthought of a plot of a show that should've ended when the Graysons and the main revenge was done.

Same bs with Nolan and all of his LIs.

I don't care how small an airport is, they would have security personnel and/or security footage that would place Amanda there. They could still argue she had accomplices to the crime but Mason as her only alibi was incredibly stupid writing.

Did Tony say he "started adoption proceedings through the foster care system"? Aren't adoption and foster care two different things? I know some people end up adopting children that they foster, but only after the children have already been in their care for some time. Either way, it was stupid to break up with Nolan because of it, since Nolan took the adoption news so well. It seemed like a veiled "he's just not that into you".

When David said he'd been working on his boat below deck when Grayson Manor blew up, I thought he was going to take the fall for Emily. He would have probably gotten a sympathetic jury because of everything that Victoria'd done to him.

But yeah, as said above, there's no way nobody saw Emily at the airport, or that there was no footage. An airport is not just a parking lot for planes; there must have been *some* ground personnel still there minutes after a plane took off.

Holy sweet contrivances!

Louise: We're in Victoria's apartment for now apparent reason, so let me go refill our glasses so I can conveniently see the broken door and blood.

Margeaux: You tried to kill me, Louise, so I hate you! Wait, thanks for coming to Daniel's funeral. Hey, you tried to kill me! Now let's be BFFs.

Police officers in background: So, that specific doctor confirmed David's alibi, right?

Tony: I love you Nolan, but I now suddenly will have a kid, so kthanxbai.

Ben: Let me just interview everybody involved with this because there's clearly no conflict of interest here.

Jack: Amanda, I was so worried that you might have been hurt in that fire, but NO I WILL NOT TALK TO YOU LATER. GET AWAY FROM ME!!!1!1!11!!!

It was like they had no idea how to get from A to B, so just made up a bunch of contrived shit to accomplish it. I know that many shows get flack for running on fumes in their final seasons, but I think Revenge may go down as the fumiest final season ever. Outside of the Emily stuff, there's clearly no rhyme or reason to absolutely anything they're doing.

That said, I'm enjoying the final episodes. And these better be the final episodes.

Doesn't the writers read what they wrote? Jack asked Ben if there was a conflict of interest because he was investigating his girlfriend. Ben said no because they broke up because Amanda chose him. Than Ben said that she raced to the airport to keep him from leaving. To me that means that Ben knew she went to the airport.

WTF once again with the dumb blonde and Jessica Rabbit and now Mason? That they even exist is an insult to my intelligence.

Once again I feel that Nolan is going to rise to Amanda's defence and produce the video of Victoria framing Amanda. It said its erased but as we know, in the real world, nothing is really erased. I don't know what the next two weeks will bring but if this is the last season and Victoria trumps Amamda, I'm going to be really ticked off.

As for that private airport in the Hamptons, the control tower would be open at the time of departure and there are security patrols and security cameras. But I'm sure that the writers will probably ignor that fact as the do so many others. In addition, at the time of departure, the airport would not be as deserted as they made it look. There would be, at least, maintenance workers in the hanger Amanda ran through. It a fairly large airport and is very capable of handling private jets. There are over 80 aircraft that are based at the airport.

I think Margaux was involved in Victoria's suicide (if, indeed, it was a suicide), and intentionally brought Louise there to find that "incriminating" evidence.

So apparently it will now be impossible to track the phone call from Mason and the video of Victoria that he sent through Amanda's phone?

This.  Nolan can get that video.... or I will be LIVID. I would have been okay with Amanda's "two graves" coming as a result of her own deeds and as a consequence of her revenge. I think Amanda would have accepted that as a reasonable sacrifice for achieving her goals. OMG,, OMG, OMG, Victoria set Emily up for murder!! OMG that was a complete surpr........yeah, I can't even fake it.

They identified Victoriia by her dental records? Yeah, that's never been faked, I still say she's alive.

So was there a reason for the Nolan's boyfriend story? It lasted a few episodes & now he's gone? Why do they keep doing that with characters?

Because their idea of writing a quickly paced show comes down to non sensical plot twists and a never ending stream of pointless new characters. Has there ever been a serial that cycled through characters so fast?

Not only would there be cameras at the airport but I watch enough L&O/random procedurals to know that they can also get footage from traffic cameras, ATM cameras, and random security cameras to establish that she drove to the airport at the time that she said she did. This whole "Amanda doesn't have a real alibi" thing just doesn't hold up. Plus if she killed Victoria in her fancy new apartment building/hotel, it looks like a nice enough place that they would have security cameras at the entrances, parking lots, etc. The fact that the cops are acting like all of this happened in BFE in a town with no electronic surveillance whatsoever is just ridiculous. They are starting to make the cops of Sunnydale and Rosewood look competent.

Doesn't the writers read what they wrote? Jack asked Ben if there was a conflict of interest because he was investigating his girlfriend. Ben said no because they broke up because Amanda chose him.

I was totally cracking up at Ben's flawed logic there. It's not a conflict of interest for me to interrogate Amanda because we broke up, like, a whole day ago! I'm totally unbiased now that we have broken up! I am not bitter or holding a grudge at all!

Poor Nolan. Can't he ever just date someone and be happy for more than two days? But I guess this frees up his time so he can work on exonerating Amanda 24/7. Once he proves her innocence, the two of them can go on a tropical vacation together.

I'm wondering if Tony was meant to be his happy ending as a possible series finale but the sudden baby storyline means the show has been given a season 5. I can hope. lol I just really want them to undo most of this season so they can bring back everything the show was for a real final season.

This show is awful.  So, does Ben or anyone think that Emily would actually be dumb enough to have all of that evidence in her car (and hand over the keys) after all she has accomplished?  Really?  That right there should clear her.  I agree as well about all of the airport cameras and security that she would have an alibi for sure.

I didn't really understand the Nolan relationship either....this close to the end why start and stop one so quickly?

I also feel that Louise was an unnecessary character if all she was going to do is hang out with Margeaux on Victoria's behalf for the remaining of the season.  it would have been so much more interesting if she would have worked with Nolan and Emily.

This better be the end because I can't take another season.  Just let it go, writers, let it go.

I hated this weeks episode.

Where to start..

Nolan - I was so looking forward to see him happy for once. He met a great guy in Tony and they were building up to a happily ever after for him.. BAM! It's gone. WHY???? I also did some research and the actor playing Tony is not listed for the last two episodes, so this was really the end for Nolan/Tony before it even began. So stupid, really no words for it.

Victoria - I sure as hell hope the bitch is really dead. The actrice confirmed it but the promo for 'Plea' says otherwise, unless ofcourse its misleading. The writers really want to mislead us with everything don't they? Is Victoria dead or not? Does Emily get her happy ending or not? Is this the final season or not? It's annoying, really.

Ben - I still like this guy. Don't know what it is but I like him and I may be the only one. He doesn't add much to the story but slow Emily/Jack down but still..

Margaux & Louise - I really hope that these two (or at least Louise) will die in finale. I hate them both so much. The writers are desperatly trying to make villains out of them so I won't be satisfied with a happy ending for either one of them. Redemption is to late.

Charlotte - Only if she will help Amanda she is welcome to return. We already have Mason, White Gold, Margaux and Louise to deal with these last two episodes.

There are only two episodes left for possibly the entire series, but there are a lot characters involved in everything.. I hope the storie gets the closure it deserves.

Does the main actress even get to push back on the writers on this show.  Like "Hey, how come I was some kind of meta, all-knowing ninja in season 1, and now I can't even think that my main antagonist who is unbalanced might try to exact revenge on me when her life is shattered."

The only saving grace will be if Amanda reveals that she psychologically guided Victoria into suicide, and all the sordid details of her sordid life (murder, terrorism, cover-up of terrorism) come out in the trial.  Otherwise, if Amanda didn't see this coming, it shows extremely weak writing around her character.

Also, the redhead:

Do I side with the man and woman who got me off of psychotic drugs and saved me from the slavery that was my mother at their own risk ... or ... do I side with the women who blew up planes and tried to have Amanda committed just like my mom tried to essentially do to me.  Her backing of Victoria makes absolutely no sense ?!?!?!

Am I wrong or is Victoria's penthouse in New York City? If so, how does Amanda make a 3 hr drive both ways in time without anyone noticing? We know she used her car and not a helicopter to get back and forth. Didn't the writer ever hear of an E-Z pass. Amanda would have used 2 times to get into and out of NYC. And isn't Ben the one ease dropping to hear that Amanda chose to go to the airport to stop Jack from leaving. As I said before, Ben knew she was at the airport at the time of the explosion.

The whole lets get Amanda thing because she is so evil while the rest rally around Victoria because she is so sweet that she farts Angels is ridiculous. I watch the show but I have to put my brain in its box to enjoy it.

The only saving grace I can see from Ben at this point is if he's deliberately working as the main investigator so Emily's lawyers can call a mistrial on grounds of conflict of interest.

I'm kind of expecting a parade of previously-seen witnesses next episode, each talking about how Emily screwed them. I hope her lawyer (oh, let me guess -- Stevie, perhaps?) is smart enough to point out that in many of the cases where they were screwed, Emily only manipulated them into screwing themselves. Has anyone ever gotten away with the "If I'd done it, there wouldn't be so much evidence and sloppy work all-around" defense?

I'd also like to see her getting a lot of support from the common man and the press. Victoria was hated with good reason and Amanda Clark should still be riding some incredible PR. She was the victim of one proven conspiracy-by-Grayson; why wouldn't others suspect it happening again?

Shhh.....I'm dreaming of a show I used to love, that I urged everyone I knew to watch. Such a clever premise....a pretty young woman taking on the elite of the Hamptons. Lies, deception, and a determination to bring down the Evil Ones! Every week you were sure they had her--then poof! she was one step ahead. Always one step ahead.

A sad story, really, but riveting!

Then, week by week, the show deteriorated to silly nonsense. Bad plot turns, bad writing, bad choices.

I only watch now to see where this will end, but I sure do miss the excitement of days gone by.

Nolan needs to go nuclear on Louise. That means get the marriage annulled, put her money back in mama's hands and frame her for manslaughter.

Also, I have some other bad excuses for Tony to break it off with Nolan

"You throw the worst parties and I can't stand it anymore."

"This was all a ruse. I was working for Victoria."

"I went to a retreat last week and they cured me of gay."

"Our drink preferences are too far apart."

"The adoption agency prefers single dads to married ones."

"I was hoping for some three-way action with the bartender."

"Now that baby Carl is safe, I have to frame another parent so I can get my baby."

So, David got diagnosed with cancer and started treatment that same night?

We're going to pretend that the video can't be retrieved on her phone?

And yeah, don't get me started on Ben running this investigation, or that Emily wouldn't have a fleet of fancy lawyers with her who could rip Ben to shreds.

I can take a lot of stupid contrivances and soapy ridiculousness if it's entertaining and clever. But this show has become frustrating and annoying. I really hope that there is some super clever twisty turny stuff coming up. Margaux and Emily were working together all along! Jessica Rabbit (love that, heh) is Jack's long lost sister! Carl has an evil twin who has been manipulating everything! Is anything impossible at this point?

And Charlotte has lost her boyfriend, her baby, her father, her brother and her mother in the last three years. No wonder she's in rehab. I actually liked her when she became minimVictoria and hope she returns.

But to what end? A mistrial would not exonerate Emily. Most mistrials result in having another trial. The only purpose I could see in wanting that is to give Nolan more time to cook up evidence for the second trial. And a conflict of interest is not enough to result in a mistrial. There would have to be misconduct on Ben's part.

This drove me nuts.  They weren't at some remote airfield, it was an actual fucking airport. No working airport, not even a private airport, would be devoid of people or cameras.

Depending on the airport, you'd be surprised. Towers are not required and most airports in the country are uncontrolled, or their towers are not staffed 24/7. With private aircraft there's surprisingly little security (certainly not what you'd find in the world of commercial air carrier operations). So yes, it's entirely possible that Amanda could drive up to the hangar, notice the jet rolling and not be captured on video, or not clearly enough to alibi out with.

HOWEVER.

She would be completely vindicated by her cell phone records. When her phone pings off a tower, regardless of whether she's using it or not, it's a permanent legal record of that phone's whereabouts. Of course, there are probably a few instances when that wouldn't really work in E-manda's favour.

Not just that, but interrogation rooms are monitored and recorded, for the benefit of both the officers and accused. Suspects are read their rights and anybody with an IQ over that of a very small soap dish will decline the interview. I guess the writers still operate under the illusion that if you're hauled in to the box you have to talk to the interrogators. Dumb TV Trope #6.

I still say the last shot of the season/series will be a shadow, camera pulling out, panning around and seeing a smirking Victoria. Fade to black.

Season 6 of what exactly?  They got rid of the more interesting characters and stuck us with these clowns.  There's only 3 series regulars left and the series itself has already been stretched thin enough.  There's no ratings to milk, so everything is running on empty.

Margeaux and Louise are reason enough why this shouldn't continue, espeicially with new characters.

This cannot be happening.  Seriously, Louise is so hurt by Nolan that she suddenly hates Emily?  Nolan and Emily are the ones who freed her from her torment when she thought she killed her father.  Her and Margaux running around together are like Laverne and Shirley, just hate them both.  What was the purpose of the whole Nolan/Tony thing, was it just to set Louise against Emily and Nolan.  The plot has gotten so ridiculous I pretty much expected to see Tony having a drink with Mason and laughing an evil laugh, as if he were part of the setup to hurt Nolan. Who cares about Louise, she is a throw away.   So Victoria hated Emily more than she loved herself and gave her life so Emily would go to jail.  Could she still be alive?  I have to believe that somehow Emily will prevail.

This really made no sense.  Victoria always loved herself more than she hated anyone else.  I think this is the route they went because Madeleine Stowe said she was leaving the show and they weren't sure if they were going to try for another season or not.  I'm pretty sure it's the end for the show and I still think Emily will prevail in some way.

See, this is why I have a major problem with the characterization in this series, their motivations are poorly put constructed and they turn into villains whenever the writers need them to be so they suddenly hop on the I hate Emily bandwagon and blame her for everything because they're the designated villains all of the sudden.  Instead of what should've been a natural build up we have characters suddenly doing a complete 180 within the back half of this season.

I can't help my shipper heart for loving the look on Jack's face when Ben told him that Amanda went to the airport. I just want them to be happy together after all they've been through.

He should rat her out after what she's doing.  These new characters only make you appreciated what Conrad and Victoria actually brought to the series and what was lost when they died.

Emily better not go down for Victoria's murder. It makes sense that she's being framed for it and I even buy that Mason/Victoria would work together to try and bring her down but she better not get sent down for it.

Ben turned into a right dick pretty fast as well. His scenes with Emily and Jack just reeked of sour grapes as well.

Louise and Margaux need to stop drinking from the Victoria cool aid as well.

Amanda better get off somehow and get her happy ending. I do like that she didn't predict any of this, but hate how shrieky Louise is. She used to be awesome and somehow got ruined. Why hasn't Nolan ratted her out for killing her brother?

I can't help my shipper heart for loving the look on Jack's face when Ben told him that Amanda went to the airport. I just want them to be happy together after all they've been through.

Nolan deserves his happy ending too! Hope Tony comes back soon and they can raise the baby together.

I always thought the whole show was working towards an eventual Jack and Emily happily ever after and that is what I want to see.

To be fair to Ben, Emily didn't treat him very well.  She was supposed to go to his party and instead she goes on national television and confesses that she is, in fact, someone else, and that she lied about how Daniel was shot.  At worst, it implied Ben was aware of the lie, and at best, it made him look foolish.  And then he found out that Emily actually preferred Jack.  I can't really blame him for the sour grapes.  But I'm team Emily all the way, so I don't really care about Ben.  And it looks like they're going to turn him into a ridiculous super villain, as they've done with Louise.

Even though it may be unrealistic for a story like Revenge to have a happy ending, I don't watch TV for reality. Real life is depressing enough. So in these next 2 episodes, I want Emanda exonerated, everyone on Team Emanda safe and happy, and the rest of them either to get a clue or deal with what's coming to them.

I'm starting to wonder if this is all a big plot by Emily to take care of everything.
