OMFG @Westiepeach, that never occurred to me.  I mean I was wondering how, if they were upside down, she was under water and her sister wasn't, but if she was underwater, then how is her makeup still in place and her top isn't wet??  All of this in the ER with her sister who has blood still running down her face.  Hmmmmm.  Interesting.

I was wondering about that myself, but I just figured that given that Jill had brought all the requisite beauty paraphernalia to the hospital for touch-ups. It almost looks as though the younger sister's uninjured eye has at least some mascara on the lashes, though being in shadow and partially hidden behind Jill's hair it's hard to tell.

i'm glad their friends helped them in their time of need, I just wish they limited it to that type of support and not cold, hard cash.  Giving them money just rewards and solidifies their bad behavior.  If Jill truly wished there was one of her for each of her children, maybe she should have stopped at one or two children and not continued having so many children she cannot possibly give them what they need.  

I would bet my paycheck (yes, I'm a college-educated, working, pants-wearing sluttish woman) that Jill wrote that go fund me.  It sounds exactly like her.  Plus, am I supposed to believe that Nurie knows what a car with a tow package costs?  I've been driving for over three decades and would have no idea.  In my opinion, there's no way a sheltered girl like Nurie with no independent access to the internet knows about tow packages and their cost.  That's all Jill.  Also, Tim's at camp??  What is that about??  I thought he was working to save money for his education. 

I know what teens are like (I've raised two), but Nurie was incredibly irresponsible while she was driving.  She should feel a little bad because she could have killed herself and her sister fiddling with the a/c controls.  Also, apparently she is so godly that she doesn't even have survival instinct because she says she had time to think about it and was ready to meet her maker, but wanted to live.  She's not like the rest of us mere mortals who would have acted on instinct to save our asses!!

So far...

It's pretty much what they've already said.  Nurie was looking down at the air conditioner knob and looked up to see a "rock boulder" and they hit it.  There was water on Nurie's side but not on K's.  They dug out gravel to get through the windows  Apparently, neighbors saw them and the girls told them to call their dad.  He was "sweet" about it.  Nurie appears to feel guilty and says she suffers from "pride".  (Argh.)  Nurie feels really bad about the car.  The FreeJinger commenter said that her wording sounds like the GoFundMe post.  (Maybe she wrote it after all?)

My take is that Jill is making her feel terrible and she's desperate to somehow make it right.   

 

Those poor kids.  I really detest Jill Rodrigues.

In regards to the vow renewal, I feel like it would only make sense - especially for fundie couples - if there were marital trials. Like, I would kind of understand if Josh and Anna did it after his infidelity, but if you said your vows in front of God and you haven’t broken those vows, why would you need to renew them? 

Then again, I don’t have a TV show I need to come up with story arcs for.

 

I’m glad the Rod girls are largely okay but good lord Jill is gross. What a freaking attention whore grifter.

It was Jill.  Her daughters get hurt and she's up at night writing a GoFundMe appeal and sticking her poor daughter's name on it.

I'm surprised that Nurie and sis were allowed out alone together. I wonder how much driving experience Nurie even has. They were both probably giddy-silly with the freedom. I do worry that Nurie is going to be overcome with guilt, I feel bad for her.

Too bad their freedom comes from being en route to the "crisis pregnancy center" to try to take away the freedom of others.  

I'm glad she clarified it was a "boulder rock" and not a "boulder posy"  that could've been confusing.

eta: They need the $$$ for the cross-country trip because apparently Timothy has to take math classes that can't be done online. Something tells me that these are remedial, since the first year is supposed to be just bible study. This leads me to conclude that Timmy didn't do so hot in his SATs.

So, they need the $20,000 for a car, for a cross country trip, errands, and for her father to pick up his mother in New York. He can’t do any other work because he is sooooooo busy with the print shop. Nurie thought about using the $80. she has in her wallet to host a banquet as a fundraiser. But alas, she has no time either because they are making a CD.

She had prayed the night before to take pride out of her heart and she thinks this was something to... I don't know... She's rambling.  Teach her a lesson?

There's a lot of "...and I'm just so grateful to the Lord and stuff".  I shit you not.  Every other sentence was "and stuff".  "My dad was so grateful we're alive and stuff."  "And I said I was so sorry and stuff." " My dad said not to be sorry and stuff." David got there when he was called.  Jill came when David called her so she must not have been exactly in a panic.

Nurie has a small cut on her hand and she bruised her elbow.  She's grateful that she's not "paralyzed and stuff" like her aunt.

Brags about David who is, to her mind, working himself to death in the printing business.  He can't possibly get an extra job because there's no time.  Timothy can't take college online because of "certain math classes and stuff".  "Daddy's scraping his pennies" to make the trip out west to take Timothy to his (probably remedial) math classes.  

Nurie decides that she'll "do a banquet" to raise money but she has no time since they're "doing a CD" so she did the "GoToMeFund" to get money.  And they NEED another car.  "It's a desperate need."  And David needs to go pick up his mother so she could come see Janessa.  Now's she's begging the viewers to please donate ("help us out") and that it would "cheer her up".  Now she's crying that she is "the most blessed daughter in the world". (Translation:  Jill has yelled at her about the car and she can't tell anyone.)  Now she's calling it the "GoToFund".

 

Yikes.  I need a shower and a stiff drink.

Nurie admitted that Jill helped her set up the GoFundMe page because Nurie didn't know how to do it.  She also said that it was all Jill's idea.

That whole Facebook video was Nurie pretending to cry without shedding one real tear.  During the speech Nurie kept looking down at a script she was holding. The video garnered dozens of 'I'll pray for you' comments but only one donation ($50).

You'll have to do better next time, Nurie.   I think it would help if you didn't look like or sound like an exact clone of your mother.

Wonder what kind of scare tactics they used in forcing Nuri to make that video?  That was so hard to watch, and I truly feel sorry for her and her sister.  I know very little about the Rodrigues family, and I'm now realizing that's a blessing.  Jill is just a bitch on so many levels.  It also pisses me off to know they have pets in that house.  If daddy is so over-worked and pinching his pennies, how can they afford adequate pet care?  

My dad drove triaxle (dump truck) before going on full disability.  He was about an hour or so from where we lived, and a bunch of the drivers from his company were driving together.  He started coughing, and barely got on the soft shoulder of the road, and within seconds, he had rolled his truck.  As the other drivers came around the corner, all they saw was his truck flipped.  There was a stream/creek that ran along the side of the highway, and if he went a few feet beyond where he landed, he would have seriously injured due to the level of the water and the large boulders.  Thankfully, he walked away with just some nasty cuts, bruises, and overall soreness/stiffness.  All it takes is a split second for your life to change, and I hope Nuri and Kaylee can get any help they may need.  I also hope those kids have a revelation as to what their parents are really about, and for the baby factory close its doors, windows, blinds, and curtains.

This is an amazing summer camp that makes a HUGE difference in the lives of young people.  :)  He will be working there for a few weeks as a volunteer and also to earn a scholarship for his college.  ;) 

He has been gone 2 nights now and the girls and I have wept!  The empty "feel" in our home is almost more than we can bear.  I know that sounds weird since we still have 12 children here.  LOL.  It proves how CLOSE we are!  <3  

Timothy cried on the phone today with us over concern towards his sisters.  SOOO sweet.  It makes me miss him even more!  <3 

Please pray for Timothy's safety at camp.  He will be working very hard...but hard work NEVER scared Timothy away!  :)

Two of those three couples are now divorced, so obviously vow renewals are just for tv entertainment.

I watched (part of) Nurie's livestream. I jumped around because I couldn't stand all the "umm”s and “and stuff”s. I can only hope all my verbal stops don’t come off as uneducated and lazy as Nurie’s speech. 

But what struck me, other than I couldn’t stop thinking about how she looks 40 with that hair and makeup, what there was no genuine emotion from Nurie, except maybe when she was talking about disappointing God (which is another issue in itself).

I felt no emotion behind her tragic car crash or her desperate escape. Nothing felt like I was being told a story or a personal account. I felt like I was watching a bad table read of the world’s worst episode of Grey’s Anatomy. And then when she was selling her GoFundMe it was very need based - they need it because of X, Y,and Z, it’s inportant because of A and B, they’ll use it like J and K. Nothing about how Nurie maybe made a mistake, or realizes the gravity of what she did, or the implication that things could have been much, much worse. She had no remorse or sorrow or fear or anger or ... much of anything really. Just read the words that Mama typed and pray someone ponys up the money. 

It’s like watching a baby Jill-bot and that’s scary.

I was nearly gagging as Nurie constantly wiped her snot on her fingers, then on to her wrist, then up on her forearm.  Then when she ran out of dry skin, she just bunches up her shirt and wipes her nose on it.

Also, Nurie had trouble spitting out a whole, coherent sentence. 

Of course, Jill made her do this awful grifting video when Nurie and Kaylee should have been resting in bed after their trauma.

Isn't Jill the SODRT teacher for the family?  I wouldn't be surprised if Nurie writes like Jill because Jill corrects her homework; and because Lord knows she hasn't got any other teachers.  If you were only taught by one teacher you'd probably emulate their writing style, penmanship, and IDK what-all, at least unconsciously.

Yup. That's why a lot of folks carry minimum insurance on older less expensive cars. Sometimes a year of insurance costs more than the car. 

I wonder how these grifting conversations go? Do they straight up openly talk about having a great money grab opportunity? Or is Jill walking around dropping money worry hints while praying out loud God will give them what they need and then finds a way?

And does the Rodriguez family realize most folks don't go from tragedy to grifting in less than day - or ever?

I think the longest road will be the endless grifting for replacement instruments, phone and car. I really do have sympathy for the daughters, but their external injuries don't sound serious. They may be traumatized, but I hope not, since they won't get any help for it. Like the rest of you, I'm disgusted. I really don't believe David spends forty hours a week on the printing press, and he needs to just get a damn job. These people wish everyone lived their quiverfull lifestyle. How, I wonder, do they think that would work, if the only to make the lifestyle work is to beg fro money from others?
