Kathleen Gati was briefly on this week's episode of The Fosters. I didn't even realize it was her at first, but my sister, who doesn't even watch GH was like 'Isn't that the crazy woman from GH?' LOL.

Out of curiosity, what was her character like?

I'm always curious to see how GH actors act off GH.

I've heard of this show; anyone know where it's available?

Constance Towers had a guest role in the latest episode of Playing House. She played a WASP society matron, so it was a huge stretch. Hee. I love her.

I actually remember her in a guest stint on Silk Stalkings. (Don't judge me!) She was the matriarch of a dysfunctional, wealthy Palm Beach family embroiled in a murder (typecasting!) and knew Rita as a child along with her father. Her name was Karen Crane and - gasp! - she was actually nice!

I was binge-watching Party Down over the weekend, and who should show up as a porno sleaze but our very own Jeffrey Vincent Parise! He had really terrible teeth, which made me wonder if that was for the episode or he had awful teeth back then but couldn't afford to get them fixed. At any rate, he was very funny in a small role.

was watching an old L&O episode and Lo and behold, Jane Elliott had a role. She played a U.S. attorney or state attorney general. It was from 2001 and she was great. Even used her indoor voice the whole episode! :)

Oh, yeah. The entire L&O franchise (including SVU and CI) would often have theater or usually New York-based soap actors on. L&O: Los Angeles tried to keep that trend going for the west coast contingent (saw Wally Kurth in an episode), but that one, unlike the other two offshoots, failed and died.

Yeah I know most NY based actors were on L&O. I was just surprised to find JE guest starred. Not that it isn't a worthy stint, I just didn't remember her being on :).

L&O:LA failed because it was awful lol! Same as the one with Bebe Neuwirth. Although I think Jerru Orbzch's death played a role in that one. IIRC they planned to use him as a quasi lead and then he passed and it all went to hell. I watched the first couple of episodes but it just wasn't well conceived.

Oh, I know L&O: LA was a hot mess, complete with showing episodes out of order so that a character that died was suddenly alive again. LOL! And yeah, Jerry Orbach was supposed to center around L&O: Trial By Jury with Lennie Briscoe working for the DA's office. Obviously, his cancer and death was an unforeseen tragedy, and all I saw with Bebe Neuwirth's Tracy Kibre was Lillith Crane playing an ADA. Although the idea to go more into the jury process didn't seem like a bad idea at the time. Still, yeah, it didn't turn out well. And then there was failure #3 with Conviction (no L&O in the title or variation of its theme but same universe), the offshoot with Alex Cabot as Bureau Chief that lasted only a season.

Oops! Off topic. But seems as if there were as many failures as L&O success shows. LOL!

Nathan Fillion is a big advocate of hiring soap actors for Castle guest appearances. He has never forgotten his roots :)

Didn't he do a one episode appearance as his former OLTL character for a wedding or funeral or something, after he had already 'made it' on either Firefly or Castle?

This is veering off-topic, but I love that big time star Julianne Moore did an episode or two (?) of ATWT in its final weeks.

I think it was a two episode stint, but yes, in 2007 (after Firefly but before Castle), he appeared on OLTL again for Asa's funeral (his character's grandfather).

Yeah, if only Meg Ryan had come back to ATWT! I still love and miss her as an actress, bad plastic surgery be damned. :(

Bad plastic surgery or not, I doubt Meg Ryan would have done what Nathan Fillion did - or her former co-star, Julianne Moore, who also returned to ATWT, her former soap home as her soap character, during the show's last days, because from all I have read, Meg Ryan has slammed her soap work. (Robin Wright has been less than gracious about her time on soaps on Santa Barbara, too, but have noticed in recent years that, at least, she doesn't seem to cringe if a soap clip with her is played now.)

Some just like to pretend their time on soaps never happened for whatever reason.

She was willing to talk about the show at one point in interviews, early on in her post-soap career, but I don't know how she may feel about it now. She's been completely out of the spotlight for over a decade (unless she appeared in paparazzi photos when she was still dating John Mellencamp these last few years).

Keeping this on topic: Mark Hamill seems happy to acknowledge that he was on GH early in his career--he even introduced the montage at the Daytime Emmys honoring the show's 40th anniversary in 2003!--but what about Demi Moore or Janine Turner? Have they ever talked about what it was like being on GH?

I actually don't think they ever worked together--Meg Ryan left in 1984 and was replaced shortly afterwards by Lindsay Frost, and there was another actress playing Frannie, the late Terri Vandenbosch (who I just found out died in 2009 at age 46) before Julianne took over. Meg and Julianne DO share one other famous co-star on ATWT, though--Marisa Tomei. And I don't know how she feels about starting on a soap, either.

Again , topic:

Christie Clark briefly played a classmate of Robin's in 1992, in between her stints as Carrie on DAYS. I've seen a clip of her before, but now I can't find it.

I just watched a CSI episode which guest starred Sean Blakemore. I was surprised that he was decent. RC and FV just do not bring out the best in their actors.

Sean Blakemore was also on Bones back in S3 or S4 as Angela's long-lost hubby whom she married when drunk and had to find to divorce so she could marry Hodgins.

He ended up having an affair with Cam, right? His role was to be beefcake, which he did very well.

I was watching Wild Palms this weekend, and Sean Kanan had a tiny role as the assistant to Jim Belushi. He was in one scene and had less than four lines. Time has been really good to him.
