Morgalisa December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 I was surprised that Whoopi released Rosei P.'s medical information so casually on tv. Is this show not guided by HIPPA rules. Blood sugar issues? WTF Whoopi. Or has Rosie P. acknowledged publicly that she has diabetes or hypoglycemia? 4 Link to comment
Bronzedog December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 It's 11:04, shut up Barbara. Oh, and, Scarlett Johanson does nothing. Wonder if she knows that. 2 Link to comment
Cementhead December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 Randoms thus far: Just what exactly makes ScarJo so fascinating this year? Barb wanted to leave before people were asking why she was still there. 2 years too late, BW. Whoopi is very visibly sweaty; her upper lip and forehead are wet. Looks like the editing people were busy with this one; lots of obvious cuts so far. 6 Link to comment
Fisher King December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 (edited) And there's that big eye-roll from Whoopi that was always there when Babs was on the show. Now directed at RO & the craft segment. Edited December 12, 2014 by Fisher King 3 Link to comment

CMH1981 December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 God today was tedious... Whoopi's thoughts and looks on Rosie O doing her crafts at the table says all we need to know about the Rosie O and Whoopi relationship these days. Hands if you think that Prince William & Kate were her #1 most fascinating, not that she got an interview w/them. 5 Link to comment
Morbs December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 (edited) I don't think Whoopi likes Rosie, but also the eye rolling and looks she will play up to the camera because she thinks she is funny, and if there is one thing we all know about Whoopi Goldberg, it is that she is not funny. I'm not into crafting, but I think a lot of the Rosie fans they want to win back are, so I don't care about the segment. They definitely need to bring Amy Sedaris in for crafts though sometime soon. Her crafting segments on Late night shows are hilarious. Edited December 12, 2014 by Morbs 4 Link to comment
movingtargetgal December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 Today's Barbara Walters infomercial was just "fascinating" wasn't it? I am so tired of the hosts kissing her ancient ass. Her most fascinating list is beyond bland. The only person on her list that is relevant is David Koch, and rather talk about all the political shenanigans he and his brother have committed, BW goes on and on about all the good he has done in New York. What else can you expect from a woman who dated Roy Cohn. 6 Link to comment

Just another reason to think it wasn't even true if you ask me. Meanwhile, Rosie P better toughen up if she's going to sit at the table. When they gave away the iphones I suddenly realized how they got the audience to cheer so enthusiastically for Babs day back. Pay e'm off with iphones and lots of choppy editing. 4 Link to comment
buffynut December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 I can't help it, I have a soft spot for Barbara, having watched her on tv since the early days of 20/20, therefore, I enjoyed seeing her on the show today. The clips from her "most fascinating" did get a bit tedious, but when you realize she is 85 years old and still working on television, that is pretty impressive. 3 Link to comment

I think Geddie produces all the Barbara Walters "specials." He made a career of her career and most likely is the one that talked her into pitching this show to ABC. Two hours???? Must have sold enough ads to make it worthwhile. *snore*. What I find the most fascinating is that someone at ABC is still willing to put their cirica 1995 show specials on the air. My favorite part with Babs today was telling us that Scarlett Johansson does 'nothing',lol, and that while talking about her 'recent' engagement she neglected to share that she was in fact already married at the time. Hahaha! Gotta love Babs and her exclusive scoops. Fascinating indeed. Wh Edited December 12, 2014 by Cosmocrush 2 Link to comment
CMH1981 December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 I have a feeling Barbara Walters chose Barbara Walters as the most fascinating person of the year. Well this was supposed to be the year of Barbara on ABC right? I have a feeling we are about to get a farewell tour part deux like Cher on her seemingly never-ending farewell tour. I still think it will be William, Kate, George, and baby to come. Isn't she obsessed w/the Royals? 1 Link to comment
CattyTiger December 13, 2014 Share December 13, 2014 Since the box records all the shows, which I do really enjoy now, I decided to dare to watch Granny. If she'd only been a guest - like that was ever a possibility - I might have watched. As it was, husband and I got through about 5 minutes until I just couldn't take it and erased the show. I really can't stand anything about BaWa but especially her voice, then every other annoying thing about her. And then there's the awful Geddie. Just horrors. Maybe there will be a transcript of Michael Strahan's interview. 2 Link to comment

Dreamboat Annie December 13, 2014 Share December 13, 2014 (edited) Sometimes applause makes no sense. I rarely believe "spontaneous" audience demonstrations. The View pays a guy to jump around, raise his arms, and encourage audience reactions. Oh, I dunno. I've been to only three live tapings of tv shows (none of them The View), but I can say that there is spontaneous applause from the audience, no guy jumping around or raising his arms necessary (from what I have seen, someone like that would probably be arrested, or at the very least, very quickly escorted out). Audiences are warmed up, and are rather affable by the time the stars of the show appear on that stage, and are actually quite agreeable by then to what the stars (hosts) of a show have to say, and do demonstrate that on their own without the prodding of a paid jump around guy. To clarify, I expected applause at that time not because I thought what Rosie P said was profound or deserving of applause, but because of the way she said it, complete with a pause at the end of her declaration, I believe she was expecting it. Believe me, I was cringing. Absolutely cringing. Babs did say we'd never guess, but I think we may have. Edited to add: Yes, of course I acknowledge there are times when audience reaction is encouraged. (Kind of hoping we "know" each other by now so something like that would go without having to say, and having to say means a whole lot of more typing when we really shouldn't have to/need to, qualify something like that. Easier to say that in advance :) ) ETA, again: "quality" changed to read correctly to "qualify". Yikes. Sorry. Time for a break (quite possible it's forcibly imposed, lol, wouldn't blame you!). Going away for Christmas break soon and don't know if I can post from there but I hope to read. Happy Holidays to you all. Edited December 13, 2014 by Dreamboat Annie 3 Link to comment

JoJo NY December 13, 2014 Share December 13, 2014 I went to a View taping in 1998, I think. There was an applause sign that would flash on at certain points. Meredith, Fluffy Star, and Debbie M., the day Babs announced the young one's departure. I recall that, even though they were all miked, sometimes it was hard to clearly hear them, maybe it's the legendary cross-talk. 1 Link to comment

Where I come from, that stays in the closet until you hit sub-zero temperatures. Of course she was sweating. It just goes along with her unkempt poor hygiene look, and that's not I want to see for entertainment. Rosie doesn't like to wear makeup and get her hair done, but she knows it goes with the job. CathinAZ December 13, 2014 Share December 13, 2014 Finally got a chance to see the episode with Barbara. The "word association" game with Barbara seemed like just and extension of The Year Of Barbara....more touting of her interviews from years past, another chance to talk about them. Plus, it wasn't off the cuff, she was looking down at notes often as she responded so it was totally scripted. P.S. I kind of liked seeing the ornament design developing during the show...... 3 Link to comment
Former Nun December 13, 2014 Share December 13, 2014 There have been times when we've seen The View's favorite "comic," waving his arms...high and in a sort of circle as the show goes to a commercial break. canter December 14, 2014 Share December 14, 2014 P.S. I kind of liked seeing the ornament design developing during the show...... I did too, although sometimes when the rest of the table was engaged in the conversation and RO was looking down working on her design, the thought crossed my mind that the ornament project was a type of art therapy for RO to get through the anxiety of a day with Barbara. I'm sure that wasn't the case, but the thought crossed my mind a couple of times. I would be all for RO piping up with her well thought out, articulate thoughts and then crafting her way through the crap that comes out of her cohosts' mouths. (Okay, that's not really fair -- this season I'd really only classify Whoopi's comments as "crap".) 5 Link to comment

I'm just getting around to watching Friday's show..... and Barbara tells everyone that Liberals don't like David Koch because he is a "Fiscal Conservative".... now if that is what she believes then she does not hang around with many Liberals.... The reason Liberals are so against the Koch brothers is because they are attempting to purchase the government.... especially the government owned utilities. They also limit criticism by funding Left wing media like NPR.... this way if they want to keep their money they limit their criticism of the things the Koch brothers do... they are also associated with ALEC...... I could go on but the old bat isn't going to pay attention anyway. 14 Link to comment

Dizzy9 December 14, 2014 Share December 14, 2014 (edited) I found it interesting that RO did the quiz and then the crafting segment with Barbara. Seemed like a grandchild trying to put the spotlight on great grandma Babs. Count me in as one that won't watch Walters ever again. The fact that she (or Geddie) decided the toxic brother(s) was/were fascinating as they pollute the country is disgusting and shows how little journalistic integrity she has or ever had by ignoring the research. I am so sick of people like her justifying evil and then naming "liberals" as the enemy of her chosen one. Anyone with a brain and conscience would object to her choice! Seemed like a grandchild trying to put the spotlight on great grandma Babs. I was alarmed at the pace that BW's aging has accelerated since leaving the show. The lighting on her was blinding me and and her make-up was garish. She tries to cover her mental lapses by using humor. Her skirt was hanging on her as if she were a clothes hanger. She should only appear on shows that are scripted and edited. And, BW, eat a sandwich for goodness sake. Stop trying to maintain the weight of an anorexic 20-year-old. 3 Link to comment
