I read in People magazine that Bethenny Frankel and Fredrik Eklund, from Million Dollar Listing NY, are getting a spinoff together.  Perhaps she will step back a bit from housewives.  I do wonder about that because I don't know how easily she can push her Skinny Girl products on a show about real estate.  Without housewives she would never have been lucky enough to sell her cocktail division for all those millions of dollars.  Still, with all that money she still seems like a needy, miserable, person.

They could stage open houses with beverages sponsored by Skinny Girl. Bethenny would make it happen by shoehorning it in some capacity.

I just read that on the Bravo site, as well...the show is going to be a house-flipping show.  I got news for Fredrik and Bethenny - Chip and Joanna Gaines they ain't.  No one's going to get the warm and fuzzies while watching Bethenny be a shrew to contractors, and Fredrik faking it with a sledge hammer.  Plus, I don't think that Bethenny has the interior design/decorating knowledge that can suit anyone but herself.

And thank god for that!  The one thing I HATE about a lot of the flipping/reno shows on now is all the warm/fuzzy bullshit you have to have dripped all over you in order to get to the reno/design stuff.  I swear I have to shower after some of those shows.  I like Bethenny, who seems to have great style, and I like Fredrik, who is obviously a real estate genius. I'll definitely watch that show.

I like Fredrik and at times, I like Bethenny, but with both of them, I can only handle small doses.  

I don't know if I will be able to handle watching an entire show of the two of them, all of the time.  I'll definitely give it a shot, because I do so love a makeover/reno/flip show, and if anything, I'll watch the first few minutes, and then, wait for the reveal at the end, just for the NY real estate porn.

True, but this is Bravo, not HGTV. They aren't interested in warm and fuzzy. They want fast paced and harsh. The style of Million Dollar Listings, where the folks involved aren't necessarily trying to come across as particularly warm.

Well, I have no desire to watch Fredrik or Beth flip high end houses or apartments.  I've grown a bit tired of Fredrik and I have no desire to watch Beth put 'her' design skills to work on a flip.  I've never loved any of Beth's places, starting with the UES and downtown (the Tribeca apartment was OK but I wasn't wowed and her current place...meh. Her bedroom looks like it's in a basement with those windows and the rest of the place is just sterile to me).  Add to that the Hamptons house.  And I have no doubt that part of the contract is to work Skinnygirl in somewhere, whether it be behind the bar, in the kitchen or served at an open house.

If I had to choose a NY housewife to put a design touch on my house, it would be Lu.  I have a love/hate with her but I've always loved her homes, starting with the rented brownstone.  Perfectly decorated for what it was...traditional.  Then there was her first house in the Hamptons.  Yeah, I could live there.  And now there's her second home.  It has warmth but is cool at the same time.

On another note, I think some of these new Bravo shows are kind of desperate and trying too hard.  Shep is going city to city to find his dream girl?  Not interested.  Ryan's show could be a little interesting - at least it's more of an interesting concept.  The only thing that I would be happy about is if Beth gave up RHNY for her new show.  Well, it's not 'her' new show.  It's her and Fredrik.  At least Bravo has figured out that Bethenny Frankel can't carry a show on her own.  Big ouch.  But Beth also came back to RHNY which she said she never do.  Girl just needs a spotlight any way she can get it.

I'll be watching.  I just love real estate porn.  I've seen B's places change over the course of time so I know that everything white is no longer hip and in.  Fredrick seems in love with marble, marble, marble.  So I'll watch.  It appears that this is like those flip shows in Vegas etc except that you need serious money to flip in NYC.

I realize this is going to be upsetting for Jill's SkinnyGirl is swill and being dumped at TJMaxx campaign ... But

I tried a couple of new SG margaritas at a party yesterday. I really liked the Watermelon Lime better than the Spicy I had been stocking. So today I was at the liquor store, a large one, and they had shelf tags for 5 different flavors and 4 different wines. There was 1 bottle of peach margarita and one bottle of Pinot Grigio.   So I don't think B will be flying commercial anytime soon.

OK.  So Beth is going to have this show with Fredrick.  Beth has been the walk away person with Ro.  It just makes me wonder...she acted ridiculously last season with Lu.  The Bershires.  And then we have Miami and the Tom reveal.  Now she has this 'other' show with Fredrick about flipping apartments in NYC.  Part of me wonders if she is taking it down a big notch because she, IMO, came across really bad last season plus, because of this new show she knows she 'needs' to be taken more seriously.  It's a whole different thing.  Just saying.

In the end, I hope she leaves RHNY for her new show cause then I don't have to watch her and her self professed life of torture and hell ever any more.

And I am delighted as I could not care less about watching NYC real estate. I doubt that it is a demotion for Beth or Frederick, they are just branching out.

JMO, but I think Beth would be back as long as she wants to be back. I just don't understand why she would. Assuming she did the same as everyone else and signed a 3 year contract, she will be free to leave when the season is over. The rumor when she came on here was that she wanted a different show, but that Andy and the Bravo brass told her she had to do this show first. Since she is moving on to another show, seems like there may have been truth to that. I get that she needed to get her name back out there after the dibacle that was her talk show, but she seems to be someone that likes to have a certain amount of control, and a show like this doesn't give you very much in terms of editing and what the others might say about you (example being the deal with Ramona talking about Brynn, which we know Beth doesn't like). She seems a little done to me at this point, and I can understand it knowing what was going on in her life at the time of filming. Her personal battles were real and then she has someone like Ramona talking about her daughter in a way she didn't like, so she distanced herself from the drama. The less she is on, the less likely the topic will continue to be brought up.

She'll almost certainly be returning next season. Shark Tank films twice a year for 8 or 9 days for 12 hours each day. And I'm sure she'll set up a filming schedule much like LVP has where there is 4 - 6 weeks of overlap. Vanderpump Rules starts mid May and ends in August. I think RHoBH filmed from July to November. RHoNY seems to film from mid October to about March. I imagine her flipping show might start filming during the late summer or early fall just so they can get halfway decent outdoors shots.

The article I read had 5 guest hosts that will step in when a regular won't be available.  So she'll be there on occasion.    That's why I think this is no indication she'll be leaving RHONY.  I mean why should she?  She has three gigs on tv that are all occasional filming.  She has a company with a product line that keeps expanding.  Life is good in the Skinny Girl world.

I don't think she can do three shows at once and keep the schedule she supposedly likes to accommodate Brynn's custody. It's possible she could simply film different shows during different parts of the year- RHONY late summer to fall and the flipping show late winter to early summer. Sounds like Shark Tank is a one or two week gig total.

To be honest I am enjoying Beth in a more limited role. Its just the right portion- like only eating caramel in fun size! And having her pop in and out would be pretty realistic given her time constraints compared to the rest of the group.

But she will forever lose the ability to claim TV is one thing and her life another. Or to claim reality TV isn't her main career. This will bring her reality tv tally to 7different shows across 15 years- plus the talk shout. MS Apprentice, RHONY, Bethenney Getting Married, Bethenney Ever After, Skating with the Stars (or whatever that was), the flip show and Shark Tank. I'm not her biggest fan but you have to admire her hustle.

Bethenny came back to RHONYC and her work is done.  None of her personal life is really on the show, she is limiting who she will film with and although she has funny quips they are now in the recycled mode.  Bethenny feels she has a lot to offer in the business world and obviously is taking full advantage.  She is producing the Frederik show so she make bank no matter what. Much like her radio show last season that was going to be about all the fabulous people she knows and not the RH, devolved into a RH recap and what was coming up.   I am not sure how the new show will work but it sounds like she finds a bargain property and flips it.  Yawn.  Shark Tank sounds like a great opportunity for her.  She can talk and talk and talk.

We went from a couple of seasons ago, when Bethenny first returned, and every one was launching a product to this season and it seems to be about charity and politics.

She could do it if she wanted to, but I just don't see her wanting to be part of this show anymore. She is currently filming her new show now, which probably won't take more than 3 or 4 months, which gives her plenty of time to film the HW's if she wants which won't start until October. As stated above, the Shark Tank deal is just as a guest, so she might only be on for a few episodes. Does it film in NY? If so, shouldn't be much of a time constraint. 

ETA: i think she has accomplished what she wanted by coming back, which was to get her name and her brand back out there. She had a long game in all of this and it is working out nicely.

Jason must be apoplectic by this news. 

Shark Tank is a huge deal, even if only for a few episodes. Gets her and products in front of an entirely new audience. My husband is a fairly level headed bloke who thinks I am nuts for watching the HW's, but he loves Shark Tank and pays attention to the folks that are on the show with great interest. With ratings that are easily double that of the HW's, it is a huge win for her indeed. Did I mention that Jason must be pulling out his hair?

Last night, I watched my very first episode with my home-from-college (Go Green!), business major son who is obsessed with this program.  There was a marathon last night and I got hooked.

I can't stand Bethenny but I think she will do very well on this show.  I didn't realize there was a lot of smart, sarcastic banter amongst the panel.  IF Bethenny can tone it down just a bit and try not to monopolize the conversation, she'll be good.  She's got to earn the respect of those business people before she can bulldoze them with her know-it-all-ness and rapid fire mouth.

My son told me one of his favorite snippets from this show is when the bald guy said to a crying contestant:  "You can not cry in business.  Because business will not cry for you.  And for that reason, I pass."  

They don't play. LOL

Shark Tank Is a different audience from RHONY. Her abrasive nature doesn't necessarily come through  "charming" or "funny". She's been here at local radio stations in person, and there's been negative comments afterward. She's not exactly well liked, even from those who are not RHONY watchers.

Unfortunately, there are some sharks who are quite abrasive, for example, Chris Sacca, whom many previouslytv posters refer to as Sacca-shit. I don't like him at all, yet they keep bringing him back. And Kevin O'Leary is often quite obnoxious, but some seem to find him lovable. So Beth might fit in well.  But the above poster is correct, in that she will have to show some restraint at the beginning, until she wins over the other sharks.

qtpi- that is a valid point. Beth always comes across best in comparison to the crazies on Housewives but mean in other settings. Heck- she would come across meaner on RHONY if she weren't blessed with such dolts to play her foil- Kelly, Jill and now Ramon. And she knew how to play the reality game better than Lu, Heather and lesser frenemies. The saving grace would be the shortened segments on Shark Tank. I am a former fan but have to admit with her current two segments per show current appearance level I am actually enjoying her on the show and being reminded why she bugs me in media interviews.

I saw that and it took me a few moments to realize that Fredrik and Bethenny totally set that up.  Both of them are waaayyyy too savvy for that to be an oops.  But I applaud them.  Great PR for their new show.  F & B fighting?  I'm tuning in for that!  So this is filmed in May and he is complaining about listings sent in Feb?  And they are in this very moment filming a couple times a week?  Oh we are so gullible.

But now I really am putting the Tivo on this one immediately cuz they are going to bring it.

This should stop the Jill rumor of her brand being on the edge of bankruptcy.  I guarantee that Smithfield saw all the numbers on other items in her brand before they put her name on the label.  Her snap shows her starting to go to various Smithfield in store events.  She's doing some in LA this week.  Last week was Cleveland (?) Krogers with a lunchtime stop over at Dress For Success.  Also I believe that the conversation with Fredrick was in regards to a bigger office space.  Yeah, she's not flying commercial anytime soon.  Oh, she was on the private group type flight to LA after taking the helicopter to the airport.  So nope, not flying commercial.  I'm still waiting for someone to buy it and post.  I live in the midwest - so we get this stuff last.

No doubt Smithfield did their research, and there were numbers there that made them sign the deal. They are paying her to use her name and brand on this product. She will get royalties off of each sale. It is now their baby for the most part to make a success, with hopefully help from her along the way (although in my experience this is not always the case. Sometimes when someone licenses their name to a product they do nothing to help spur the sales, expecting the company to do all the work). My guess is they have invested a lot in this product, from a dedicated marketing team for this brand, to research and development, to training of their sales force, etc. Still, it might not be a success, but she has invested little if that is the case. The initial distribution at places like Hy-Vee, Publix and Kroger would be enough to keep her set for a long time. I can only imagine that Jill - and Jason - are irritated.

When TB horse racing is the root of all of her woe and upbringing.... Weird.
