Willem Dafoe does strike me as someone at the top of list of people who are probably very lovely in real life but tend to play creepy or disturbing characters on screen.

Poor Things does it again!

Beetlejuice!

Also, good for Poor Things.  I loved it, but this will likely be the only thing it wins.

Hey!!!  It's already surpassed your expectations!

I wasn't crazy about the song she won for a few years ago (some ho hum James Bond theme), but whatever.  And now she's about to become a 2-time Oscar winner.  Bleh.

BEETLEJUICE!!  (Don't say it again.)

I never really paid much attention to Billie Eilish until "What Was I Made For," which is perfect for Barbie. Then True Detective: Night Country used her "Bury a Friend" for its opening credits, also perfect for the mood and material. Her songs (at least those two) have a way of getting stuck in my head.

Also, didn't hairstyling and makeup used to be two separate awards? Maybe I'm thinking of SFX makeup...

I’m still surprised “Dance the Night” from Barbie wasn’t nominated. It’s popular and I’ve heard it twice already on the broadcast.

Have any of you seen Poor Things?  I have not.  What’s with all the love tonight?  It’s beating some serious heavy hitters.

Well, judging from the crowd reaction, Naked John Cena might be the frontrunner for next year's host.  Although, we didn't get at least one cutaway to The Rock during all of this?

Poor Things keeps on trucking!

I have and I loved it.  However, it is quite quirky -- I also loved The Lobster and The Favourite, both by the same director.

Was that Josh Brolin? Chris Hemsworth?

Chris Hemsworth.  Oh wait, you meant the naked guy — that was John Cena.  Chris was earlier with Anya.

Damn Poor Things snags production over Barbie!  At this point song or costume is Barbies best bet.

NVM:Song it is

My feed is slower than some of yours.    Of course it’s slower than the TV in the other room where I was watching, too! 😂 🤷‍♀️

I'm starting to wonder if we won't see a complete BARBIE shutout.  The Oscar voters showing that they didn't appreciate the controversy over the Actress/Director snubs, or them just not deeming the movie to be weighty enough to stand in the august company of previous Oscar winners.

Cena’s bit is awesome, because it’s a great segway to a category, and not just one of those corny bits that end up not going anywhere.

Put aside the 5 presenter-bit thing, this has really been a well-written, well-paced Oscars so far.

I'll take a multitude of presenters over 8 damn montages of the same 30 clips rearranged.

Yes! "American Fiction"! It's on MGM+ and it's brilliant! ITA with making more $ 5 & 10 million dollar movies along with the $200 million dollar ones because the smaller the budget, the bigger the risks-and sometimes, as this Oscar proves, the rewards.

I just watched it today on MGM+ and I loved it!

I agree about wanting more smaller budget movies.

Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling are here to cause a brawl between Team Barbie and Team Oppenheimer, I see.  I guess that slap from Will Smith two years ago just open the floodgates, dammit!

Emily and Ryan better be getting ready to do a buddy comedy or this humor is all wasted.

Forced banter, is there anything better?

could really have lived without the forced banter between melissa and octavia and now emily and ryan.

but, there’s been far less this year — maybe those in charge remember what a pleasure it was to watch last year’s tonys compared to previous year.

ymmv, but i really like the individual introductions of the acting nominees.
