Yep. Water finds its level. I think there's a reason that, in the 6 seasons after Heather and Kristen left, all Bravo could find were Jules, Tinsley, a lady that didn't even make it into the credits, Leah, and Eboni. I really can't imagine that Jenna and possibly a few of the other new HWs would want to be directly associated with the OG+Dorinda circus that the later seasons became. I could possibly see a season with Heather, Kristen, and/or Carole (hypothetically) and some of the new HWs. But I definitely don't want to see anyone who needs RHONY more than RHONY needs them.

Yet the RATINGS had continued to be very solid with the OG cast.  RHONY had 2 bad seasons with Leah and Eboni.

But the reboot premiere had the worse of any HW debut - worse than Dubai - which was cancelled after 1 season.

It's all over the media.  No one wants to be associated with bad ratings.

And so it really looks like Bravo wasn’t having success hiring credible, decent-calibre people to work with the OGs and round out a stable cast. After season 7, Tinsley (who seemed desperate to rehab her image rather than someone who actually had an aspirational lifestyle perspective to offer) lasted the longest and then got run off the show. After season 9, the season ratings started to gradually tank and just kept getting worse, which, IMO, tracks with the OGs (including Bethenny and her constant narc breakdowns) going off the rails and Bravo miscasting or not being able to find people to replace all the ones they couldn’t keep. Either way, you can’t do a HW show with three people; enter the likes of Crappie Lake.

Whether the reboot lasts, I don’t really care. It just would have been cool to see Jenna and maybe a few of the new ones in the days when the legacy cast was still trying to pretend to have all that elegance and class LuAnn likes to talk about. 😂 I “miss” those days of the show.

Maybe Bad Reviews, but that's not the same has Bad Ratings - in terms of people who are in power positions for these shows.

I'm just catching up. I didn't realize the ratings were low. Are they comparable to the premiere of last season or not even close?

I'm surprised that the ratings for the premiere weren't higher. I figured fans of past seasons would tune in initially out of curiosity and if the ladies weren't clicking that there'd be a drop off in the later episodes.

How are the ratings for Crappie Lake? I haven't checked that out yet. I might have to read a few reviews first.

I wonder if it would have been helpful to have two or three familiar faces to help with the adjustment to a new cast. Maybe Heather, Tinsley and Kristen.

I just did a quick internet ratings search, it seems ratings from various franchises goes from 750K to 1.1M, not great numbers.  I was curious because there once was a time when everyone I knew watched these shows, now no one I know (friends, family, co-workers) watches.

I finally watched fully expecting to hate it. The original  was, for many years, my favorite franchise. Once Leah and Eboni joined I could not even make it through the last season. I am surprised to say I didn't hate it. Maybe I will in the end, but at least I made it through an entire episode which is more than I can say for the God awful Dubai. I will watch again and see what happens. I just hope we saw more of the children because they were being introduced and they will not continue to be featured. I don't watch these shows for kids. I will say it was refreshing to see an argument, petty as it was, not fueled by Alcohol. I drink occasionally and have no issues with anyone drinking socially, but most of these shows just feature a bunch of stupid drunk women and it's tiresome-OK, the Countess in the Bushes was a classic, but not all scenes are. Especially knowing what came after in her life.

I agree that I do not watch the show to see peoples kids. And that Dubai was totally unwatchable. Could not make it through one episode even though I enjoyed bitchy Caroline on ladies of London, which might’ve been my favorite girl show ever.

Most of these people work in the fashion industry. That’s what I want to see. That’s interesting to me. Home life, not so much . Leave the kids and husbands at home and off camera.

You know, while I was watching the show the one thing that crossed my mind (based on the history of RHONY) is how many of these currently married women will divorce during their time as housewives?

It is so obvious there were episodes taped with the HW who quit. They are referring to things that happened in episodes that should have aired. The fact that we didn't see the cheese episode is telling. I have to watch one or two more before I decide if this is must see tv.

I am a creature of habit.  All this show IMO needed were a couple of new housewives.  This turn around is too much.  The other shows needed fixing, but Andy took all of them back.  Why?  He had to tamper with the best of them.

Yes, it is obvious episodes were heavily edited to remove scenes with the HW (Lizzy Savetsky) who left. This probably created problems to the whole show. I will continue watching. The old show had issues in the recent years which were not created by Leah, and Ebony only.

I have watched OC and NY since the beginning of each. I’ll stick with this version for a bit. It was refreshing for me that there were no scenes of stupidly drunk women. That became a real turn off for me with old NY cast. I would fast forward through so much of the show.

It’s only one episode.  I’m sure there will be some surprises as per usual.

I didn't watch and came here to read the comments. I loved the old show and cast except for Eboni and Leah. I wish they had just gotten rid of those two and gone ahead with the rest instead of recasting.

After reading the comments, I definitely will not be watching. I hope the ratings for this reboot are horrible and Bravo comes to its senses.

I didn't make it through the season. It was boring.

I'm not surprised NY's initial ratings are down. I think the producers have misread their base audience.

I feel exactly the same.  Even with their flaws, I loved the old cast the best.    One episode of this new show was enough for me.  As a New Yorker, I’ve seen plenty of gorgeous clothes in the City and don’t need Bravo to show me more.  Who cares?  I won’t be watching anymore either.  Just not for me.

What show was worse than Jersey?  Crooks, Private Investigators, drunken men and women on the floor, etc.  And they are still on again.  The whole cast is back again, and Bravo cans N.Y.  Something wrong here.

I love their take on Jessel. They think she is nice to people who she feels are above her and horrible to the ones she feels are below her. So she treats her husband and mother like shit and as soon as Jenna comes over she's super nice. I have to say, it seems like an accurate take.

I love how they imitate her yelling at her husband for everything.

NY is and will always be my favorite franchise…my first love, first foray into the world of RH addiction, yadda yadda.

I may be in the minority, but I’m SO GLAD I don’t have to sit through the tired dynamic of the old crew for another minute.  It was the same damn thing in different settings, and it felt as if the women were overly competitive and, at times, appeared desperate and pathetic.

Ramona, Lu and Sonja would be so threatened by the new women, they’d be impossible to watch.  They’d devour these YOUNGER attractive women and it wouldn’t be a good look for them.  I think we’d end up with two factions and it would be exhausting.  I never watched this show (or any of the others) in hopes of watching an hour of catfights, and as many franchises trended in that direction, it was easy to walk away from them.   I just don’t think mixing the legacy HW’s with the newbies would have worked at all.

I can already tell that my least favorite are Sai, who seems like a self-important snob, Brynn, who seems a lil phony and a try-hard, and Jessel, who seems snooty, selfish and rude as hell.  I could be judging books by covers, and maybe I’ll be proven wrong.

I really like the others, but the season’s young.  Excited for all the porn we only get to see on RHONY!

Erin's husband Abe looks like he needs a shower. Why is his head so wet, or is that gel or something? Ew. She also rolled into a party at Jenna's home empty-handed, then slags her apartment. I know this is probably news to Erin 'Hi, I'm in Real Estate,' but someone who buys the apartment can actually build out another bedroom or sitting area. Also, let the fucking dinner thing go and stop talking about your sex life. 🙄

Brynn is ehhh. She seems like she needs to be picked first for everything and her little baby voice and vocal fry are so grating.

Ubah is annoying. She's a weird combination of energetic and vapid.

Jessel is a little overbearing and seriously pushy-demanding for someone who has toddler twins. If I spoke like that to my mother she'd be on a plane back home before I could shut my mouth.

Sai is going to be the one we can rely on to get a good explanation of the stupid rivalries and dust-ups for this group. And I absolutely love her boyf/husb/whomever - he's fun, only partially invested in the drama enough to be supportive of her.

Jenna, like most of you, is about the only one I think is cool and down-to-earth. I think her personal and professional stories are interesting, and I enjoy her style. She's also the one close to my age (I'm 50) and I appreciate her love of cheese. ❤️  Or her passive-aggressive presentation of all of that cheese.
ETA Jenna's shoe size seems to be a US 9, so she's damn lucky i am not a NYC local or i'd find a way to break into that shoe closet! 😂❤️👏🏻

They've been career women from the very first incarnation of OC. Calling them housewives never made logical sense. There have been a few here and there who didn't work, like early LuAnn, but even she had to find a job after a while.

Not so odd.  There have been Jews in Ireland since at least the 1500's.  A Jewish man was elected mayor in County Cork in 1556.  There was a Jewish Lord Mayor of Dublin elected in 1886, who died before he took office.  Also, Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1956, Robert Briscoe was Jewish. As was Briscoe's son, Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1988.

U.S. President John F. Kennedy met with Robert Briscoe in 1962. (My grandmother mentioned this a lot, she was so proud! Like Adam Sandler's Hannakah song, she knew Jew, not a Jew.)  Yogi Berra, known for malapropisms,  found out there was a Jewish Lord Mayor of Dublin & said, "Only in America!

The Jewish families in Ireland came mostly from Lithuania, the Pale of Russia, Germany - to escape pogroms, forced military service, or for better educational or job opportunities then denied to Jews.  After getting there, many stayed.

That Erin is an Erin is not so odd.  Though her immediate family (or dad) hails from Israel, who knows where her family originated. And even without any connection to Ireland, assimilated names are common today. More so than biblical names like Rachel, Deborah or Sarah.

Interesting, I had no idea about a Jewish population in Ireland.  My paternal great grandfather left Lithuania in 1900, sailed to England then to Philadelphia...had he gotten on a different ship my life would be a bit different! The rest of the story is he was away for four years made enough money to sail back and get my great grandmother and their three children (one was my grandmother), sailed to NYC then eventually moved to Baltimore.

I am sure at sometime in my life I have met an Erin who is Jewish but if you need an "E" name I am not surprised her parents chose the name Erin.

Yep.  They fled all over, even hundreds of years ago & even Asia has tiny communities here & there. (Pearl S. Buck's book Peony describes one in China.) If Erin's family followed the tradition of naming babies after dead relatives, maybe there was an Esther or Ezra or who knows who that she was named after.

I was refusing to watch this for the longest time. Even though I discovered it so late, OG RHONY is one of my all-time favorite TV shows, and I didn't want to feel like a traitor. Still so sad they just got rid of the OG cast entirely instead of a cast shake-up.

Anyhow, have more time than usual, and as someone who loves NYC and recently watched Legacy, thought I'd check this out.

I did enjoy it! No, it's still not RHONY to me and probably won't ever be. But the show is fun. I get my NYC fix, and the women are unique. I wish they'd give the show another name though.
