Kabota May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 (edited) The team is finally winning...four straight...and we see none of it. Beard's and Henry's talk about "Hey, Jude" was the highlight. Even with that complete foot-in-mouth moment, I still see Roy as Keeley's endgame, (if anyone is.) Gruff older guy, bright younger woman -- Professor Higgins and Eliza Doolittle, Colonel Brandon and Marianne, Knightly and Emma, etc. Having said that, ever since their break-up, I've loved Keeley and Jamie's chemistry. They're just very...soft?...together. Anyway. WANT MORE FOOTBALL Edited May 3, 2023 by Kabota 12 Link to comment
Good Queen Jane May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 When the doorbell rang at the end, I said “Please don’t let it be Jamie, please don’t let it be Jamie” and then it was Jamie. I didn’t expect that he was the one that Keely sent the video to, though. There is nothing that can’t be made better by having a group of people singing the last three minutes of Hey, Jude together. 12 1 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Athena5217 May 3, 2023 Popular Post Share May 3, 2023 I feel like Jack isn’t a real character. She’s a device to move Keeley’s story forward and will just say and do whatever is needed in that moment to make it happen. Last week Jack didn’t care what anyone else thought. This week Jack either doesn’t want her old friend to know she’s dating a woman or doesn’t want her old friend to know she’s dating a woman with a sex video online. I’ll agree with Jack that getting a sex video removed from the internet is impossible, but otherwise, no. A “no” to canceling on the polo match without asking Keeley what she wanted. “No” to sending Barbara to have a conversation Jack should have had with Keeley because it’s sensitive. And giant “NO” to telling Keeley to apologize to the world for a private video being stolen and put on the internet. I loved Isaac telling the guys to delete all the naked pics of women off their phones, and I loved that they actually started doing it after some whining. I would like to see Isaac give Henry a haircut because those bangs are terrible. 32 3 5 Link to comment

Lady Calypso May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 I had a feeling it was Jamie who Keeley sent the video to. I don't know, I just got that feeling when the team found out Keeley's video got leaked and Jamie got an almost panicked look in his eyes. And when we didn't see him until the end of the episode, and when Roy even overstepped by asking who the video was for, I assumed it would be Jamie. But it worked, because it made total sense for Jamie to keep the photos and videos longer than he should have, even if he did delete them a while ago. Jack/Keeley's plot was just not so great, though. It's not only a plot we've seen countless times before, Jack was used for no good reason this entire season. She was there to be cannon fodder because there's nothing Jack provided to Keeley's overall story. And it's a shame because every other story in the show has done something to further someone else's arc, but this one didn't really do anything for Keeley. I assume Jack is gone-gone now and I'm fine with it, but it's felt like a waste of time. Nate's plot was awkward to watch, especially the attempted Love Hounds stuff, but I do enjoy Nate's little moments of self growth. He still has a ways to go but I do like that he's doing this all on his own and not being told what to do. I think Nate's arc will be fully realized by the end so, even if it's awkward to watch now (and I do not love his scenes currently), it's important to whatever redemption they ARE giving him. I just wish they'd move forward a little faster with four episodes left (or I wish they didn't have Nate disappear for a little bit of the season there). But maybe, with Jade cementing their relationship, Nate will get his head out of Rupert's ass and finally say what he actually wants to say to him. He can be rude to other people when he wants to be, but Rupert gets him quivering in his boots? Rupert lost his damn football club to his ex because he couldn't keep it in his pants and it took him two years to buy another one. Dude isn't winning much in life, as much as people think he is. I LOVED the Beard/Henry scene with Hey Jude playing in the background. I love that Beard recognized Henry's pain with his parents divorcing. I also love that he gave a very Ted Lasso type of lesson. Otherwise, Dr. Jacob sucks; I honestly thought for a bit that maybe Michelle did get engaged but decided to respect Ted's feelings by hiding the ring from him. I still think it's a possibility, but I hope she isn't. I did note how Michelle was laughing at Ted's jokes and even jumped in to banter with him a bit. Those little moments show how those two got along in the first place and how well they know each other. So, Isaac knows Colin is gay; given that they're best friends, I cannot imagine the fallout there. I have to imagine Isaac is going to be hurt that Colin didn't tell him. I didn't love the sex leak arc in general, but at least the Colin plot moves a little bit forward. 14 1 Link to comment
Popular Post anna0852 May 3, 2023 Popular Post Share May 3, 2023 I wish Ted had stuck with calling Jake "Dr. Jake" to his face. Or even commented that since he only knew him in a clinical sense, he'd stick with 'Dr'. Just to mildly drive home how unethical this relationship is and that Ted is going to make the guy squirm. LOVED Isaac immediately shutting down any talk of it being Keely, etc's... fault that the photos/videos were leaked and that all blame should be placed on the hacker. And then telling the team to clean up their phones immediately. I think once he gets over his surprise Isaac is going to be Colins' #1 supporter and will ensure that the rest of the team falls in line as well. Isaac runs that locker room with an iron fist. I think Nate is really starting to realize what he lost when he left Richmond. He's ultimately very lonely (aside from the new thing with Jade) and deeply misses the genuine friendships he had. Jamie has very clearly stuck with therapy. And after he showed up to apologize to Keely for the leak, I realized I wouldn't mind her getting back with him. I don't think they will but I wouldn't mind it. I do find it telling that we haven't seen Jamie dating anyone since the reality show fiasco last season. His entire focus seems to be on self improvement and I love it. 31 1 3 Link to comment
Girl in a Cardigan May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 "The city of alright" - kinda felt like this episode. We're transitioning out of the dark forest, but it's gonna be a bit twisty yet. Lots of good stuff in here, but most of the storylines were concentrated on areas that aren't my fav, so I had a lot of TSOP. So Nate and Jade are a thing. Good for him? Felt bad/weird that he's now trying to recreate his time at Richmond (which he could still be having if he hadn't thrown a tantrum and left) at West Ham, but of course, it isn't working. LOL at him inviting Rupert to the Lovehounds and love that his assistant was like, yeah, no. Any Henry-heavy episode is not my fav, but at least the kid wasn't the one annoying me this time. I get it, Ted's not over his ex. But the fishing for how much Jake is over at the house, the whole Paris shit, just all of it is my least favorite color on Ted. I was really hoping we'd get some Doctor Sharon time because damn, this man needs therapy. Glad Rebecca was there to give him a kick in the arse (love her outfit in that phone call) and I'm really, REALLY hoping we're done with this storyline now. So Keeley and Jack are done. Didn't predict this would be why, but it does fit perfectly. I do wish we had gotten to know Jack even a little, but I guess in the end, I only care that Keeley's upset. Love her spin on the Pretty Woman dress and sad that Jack didn't properly appreciate it. And why do I feel like Jack was just trying to stick it to the establishment by showing up with a lady to Uncle Bernie's event? Ugh. But LOVE LOVE LOVE Jamie and Keeley's scene. What a grown up boy with a stupid, stupid password! Do we think Roy knew it was for Jamie or was just sad it wasn't for him? Still hoping for Roy and Keeley to reunite, but that convo isn't going to help his case. Great scene of the himbos deleting all the pics and videos from their phones - the best bit of comedy we got in this episode tbh. Colin seems like he almost wants to get caught in a hacking scandal the way he was talking and maybe that would be an "easier" way to come out than making a grand statement, for him. It all seems awful though. But now Isaac knows about Colin. Isaac and Colin seemed to be team besties, so I'll be curious to see how this plays out. Colin seems resigned to lose Isaac, but it did seem like Isaac was accepting in his silent way. Mae was also fantastic with her treatment of "Prince Henry" and the coaches after finding out that they went to the West Ham game. LOVE HER! 15 Link to comment
AD55 May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 (edited) Roy's asking Keeley an inappropriate question and then feeling bad about it reminded me of the last episode of season 2, when Ted asked Michelle if she was having a late night or an early morning. I no longer think they're endgame. Maybe it's because they are planning to write Roy out of the series if there is a season 4. Brett Goldstein has an awful lot of other projects. Or maybe they're falling for the TV cliche that only unhappy couples are interesting. Jamie has evolved into an emotionally intelligent young man, but I'd still prefer that he and Keeley not get together. I'd rather she become more like a big sister. Also, even though Keeley made the video before she and Roy got together, it feels like a sort of retroactive betrayal--not so much of Roy's relationship with Keeley as his friendship with Jamie. I don't see them staying close if Jamie and Keeley get back together. Poor Roy losing the woman he loves and a protégé/friend. He's going to need the Diamond Dogs. Speaking of which, I loved Trent being initiated as a member and the way he reacted each time Roy couldn't resist weighing in. James Lance has a protean face. Other stuff: I think the smarmy Dr. Jake and Michelle are engaged; loved everything about the Hey Jude scene, including how Rebecca's advice to Ted paralleled Beard's reassuring Henry that things will get better; was delighted to have Mae back (does her cheeky "anything is possible" mean she no longer thinks it's the hope that kills you?); really need more football, though I did love the scene in the locker room. I'm still processing the scenes with Nate. Edited May 3, 2023 by AD55 6 Link to comment

HelloooKitty May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 Oh Roy. You messed up. Big time. I cared about a Nate a teeny bit only bc the kid cared about him and Nate DID wave back at him. But I still mostly don’t care. I loved Trent Crimm (not the Independent) being completely confused but also completely on board and eager to join in with the “dogs”. Jamie has really grown since season one. But his hair is still stupid. Next week’s title makes me think it could deal with Colin and his secret being revealed. 10 Link to comment
funnygirl May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 (edited) This better not be circling around to Michelle wanting to get back together with Ted in the end. Nearly three seasons of Ted moping over her and the divorce...Ted needs to move on from it, not be sucked back in. Fuck off, Nate. I do not care. He's an absolute asshole and did assholey things, has made no apologies, and now I'm supposed to be charmed seeing his little love story play out? No, thank you. Hate what they've reduced Keeley to this season. There are four episodes left, it's not a lot of time to get to the things needing to be get to (*cough* Roy and Keeley). I don't understand how these episodes are twice as long but nothing seems to really be happening, other than the build up to Richmond's (hopeful? ultimate!) success. Aside from moments here and there, it's mostly felt like filler. Edited May 3, 2023 by funnygirl 10 Link to comment
Schweedie May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 Good parts: the team excitedly cheering Henry on when he was doing keep-ups during training. Isaac being an excellent captain and person and telling everyone to delete their pictures, and finding out about Colin. Jack and Keeley seemingly heading for their end (please, pretty please). Barbara being kind (for Barbara) to Keeley. Jamie showing accountability, even though he really hadn't meant to mess up. ...That's about it for me this time. 10 Link to comment

DEL901 May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 At first I thought Nate’s bedroom was back in his parents home because it sure didn’t look like that of an adult with a highly paid prestigious job. When Rupert texted him about preventing Ted from attending games in the future, Nate almost challenged him, but then caved. And inviting Rupert to his Diamond Dogs imitation was naive at best Rupert doesn’t socialize with lessers (unless he wants something) and Nate is realizing how good things were with Ted. I predict West Ham will lose a couple and Nate’s job will be on the line Considering how influenced Jack was by her dad and his lawyers…is she really a hot shot venture capitalist or is she a wannabe nepo baby using daddy’s money? Loved seeing Keeley and Rebecca’s friendship back at centre stage. And it isn’t just Brett Goldstein with a lot on his plate. EtheltoTillie May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 (edited) So many great comments here already. I saw parallels about various relationships going to a new status: Michelle and Dr. Jake, Nate and the restaurant hostess (do we know her name?) and Jack and Keeley. Michelle and Dr. Jake we don't know for sure what happened, but that was less important than seeing Ted moving on to the acceptance phase from denial. Nate and his "girlfriend" have agreed on a label. Jack pointedly avoided that label, so very telling. There was that awkward moment at miniature golf when that other girl showed up. I had the feeling she was an old girlfriend. Jack introduced Keeley as a friend. Later she referred to Keeley as "the person I'm seeing." I didn't like that Jack bailed on going to the polo match and just kept trying to have sex with Keeley. Edited May 3, 2023 by EtheltoTillie 10 Link to comment
Trillium May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 (edited) I still think Roy and Keeley get back together despite him asking the worst question at the worst time. Jamie is going to be the one to reunite them. He loves his grandad too much to get back together with her. But whatever happens can the real Keeley show up? Season 1 and 2 Keeley would have handled the leak herself. Hopefully she realized while Jack was fun, it was always what Jack wanted her to do. I did love her talk with Rebecca though, that’s a true friend. I agree that despite nearly 8 hours of the season very little has happened. If this is the last time we get to spend with these characters, let’s get to the happy stuff already! I’ve thought this show usually rose above these kinds of manufactured moments to create tension; they definitely dinged Issac’s character by having him react poorly, especially after essentially stealing Colin’s phone from him. I noticed he didn’t chase after Roy and Jamie and demand theirs. 5 Link to comment

I agree with Crs97 that this was a clumsy manufactured moment and the show doesn't usually feel this contrived, even when it employs the unlikely coincidence device. When the same photographer who shot Keeley and Ted photographed Keeley and Roy, that was easier for me to accept. They're both in the public eye, and that particular photographer presumably works the Richmond beat. Also, it was in character for Roy to grab the film. In this episode, Keeley felt more like the empowered woman of seasons past. I liked Barbara in this episode and I can see Keeley's defiant reaction to the tape making Barbara respect her more. tennisgurl May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 I really need Ted to really lay into Dr. Jake for his utter lack of professional ethics, even beyond Ted having issues with Michelle moving on this is a clearly massive ethical violation that raises all kinds of questions about how Ted and Michell's marriage fell apart and he has every right to be pissed about this icky situation. We did at least get to see Henry totally brush off Dr. Jake at the end, which made me very happy. I guess that's the end of Jack, I cant say that I'll miss her. She has always felt like more of a plot device than a character, she just exists to give Keeley something to do and I, like Rebecca, have always pinged her as not being as perfect as she seemed to be at first. Not only did she massively slut shame Keeley for having her privacy violated, she acted all embarrassed of her, not taking her to the polo game she was clearly excited for so that no one would see them together, writing up that groveling apology of a statement instead of calling out the people who hacked her, calling her a "friend" at mini-golf, she totally sucks and can see herself out. I have been pretty disappointed by Keeley's plot this season, I like the idea in theory of her running her own company, but its seemingly made her drop several IQ points, led to her nonsense break up with Roy, and kept her away from the rest of the cast, like she's on her own show with the occasional cameo from Rebecca. We have so much going on this season that I wanted to focus on, Colin possibly coming out, Nate's possible redemption/doubling down, the team rebuilding, I wish that Keeley could have been a part of that instead of off in her own thing. Very classy of Jamie to come apologize about the leak even if it really isn't his fault. I'm still all in for a Keeley/Roy reconciliation, even after his painful foot in mouth moment in this episode, but I can see Jamie and Keeley giving things another go now that he's matured so much. Although he still really needs to work on his password protection. You thought you'd fool them with two ss's? Oh Jamie... What a way for Colin to be outted, poor guy looked so scared. My first thought is that Isaac is pissed that one of his best friends didn't feel like he could trust him with this, not that he's homophobic, but hopefully they can talk soon. Thinking that he's being rejected for his sexuality is going to hurt Colin so much, even if that's not what's really happening. Mae with Henry was so cute, as was Henry with the rest of the team. The Hey Jude scene was definitely the episodes highlight, Beard was so great with Henry. "Oh please. The Eiffel Tower is just a lamp post with a publicist." 19 1 Link to comment

He hasn’t changed at all. Agree. We're supposed to think Nate is cured of his assholishness now, but I'm not buying it. I still need him to atone for his treatment of Will, Colin and others, and to find out the picture he was bitching about is lovingly displayed in Ted's room, and that all of his projections on Ted were complete BS and that he went scorched earth on Richmond for no reason. Instead of the show acting like Nate's only "sin" was going to work for the enemy. The writers obviously were caught offguard by much of the audience's reaction to Nate, but they're redeeming him in such an unsatisfying way. I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about him and Jade, yet they've been the B storyline for two weeks in a row. Jamie appeared to have spotted something very interesting on Will's phone. Wonder if it was the Amsterdam couple, or if that incident was just the tip of the iceberg for Will Kitman. 16 Link to comment

I understand being taken aback in that situation, but that doesn't excuse that kind of a reaction. I interpreted Isaac’s response as maybe hurt that Colin hadn’t confided in him? I hope that’s it because I love Isaac. 3 hours ago, Blakeston said: I doubt Isaac will turn out to be a raging bigot, but he handled that terribly. He handled it terribly but it’s also normal for surprised people to handle things terribly. Yeah, it sucks for the person dropping the surprise, but sometimes people need to process. It doesn’t make either party wrong. I’m speaking as a heavy-duty processor who once found myself so completely incapable of thought that I just pointed across the room and told the other person “I’m going over there now.” Is it helpful? No. Is it necessary? Sometimes. Roy refusing to join the Diamond Dogs (while still being very much a Diamond Dog) cracks me up. Trent’s tentative “Woof” was adorable. 20 1 Link to comment

iMonrey May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 I thought Beard was just making that stuff up about Jude for Henry's sake. Is that really what the song is about?? 5 Link to comment

monagatuna May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 I find it interesting that practically the entire team was excited about the celebrity sex video leak until it was revealed that someone they care about was impacted. Women only exist for my consumption until it's a woman I care about, then I'm outraged. Very much shades of "what if it was your daughter/sister/mom" without consideration that a woman deserves respect and autonomy regardless of her relationship to a man. I appreciate that they're showing growth and publicly decrying revenge porn, but I'm really angry that it takes this (seeing someone you love and respect being objectified) to stop doing it yourself. I'm glad Keeley decided not to make a public apology or statement. I really appreciate Keeley asking Rebecca to change the world so that women are not constantly sexualized and then vilified for being sexual. And I'm going to out myself as having the very unpopular opinion that I hate Hey Jude. It's the British equivalent of Sweet Caroline. I thought the redheaded guy's conversation with the kid was cute but partially because it talked over most of the song. I was roundly shushed when I brought that up to my wife, but none of you know me here, so I can express my unpopular opinion without risk of divorce. :) I'll go stand in my corner now. 13 4 1 2 1 Link to comment

No. I could not care less about Nate, Jade, whether he brushed his teeth or his piteous Love Hounds attempt. 11 1 1 Link to comment

For some reason what bothered me the most about the whole Love Hounds thing was that the very last time the Diamond Dogs were 'in session', so to speak, Nate acted like it was completely below him. I haven't forgiven him for his eye-roll and sarcastic "woof" when they agreed to let Roy have a one-time pass to ask for advice. I think I've said this before, but they did too good a job of making him unlikable towards the end of last season for what they're doing with him now to work for me. 21 2 Link to comment
Blakeston May 3, 2023 Share May 3, 2023 I really hope Isaac doesn't end up carrying a grudge against Colin for not telling him. A lot of people get the "why didn't you tell me sooner?" reaction when they come out, and frankly, it sucks to be on the receiving end of it. I'm not saying that someone can't be hurt that they weren't let it on the secret right away. But confronting the person who just came out shouldn't be your primary reaction. It's not an easy thing to come out, and people have lots of valid reasons for taking their time to do it. (Particularly if they're professional athletes.) If you want to be a good friend, you'll be supportive first and foremost, and then save the "why didn't you tell me sooner?" for later. 3 2 Link to comment

Interesting possibility that I didn't consider. Keeley didn't seem to consider it either. Anyone else think Barbara might turn out to be instrumental in the video leak? Probably not, but only because there's not enough story-telling time left. 2 hours ago, tennisgurl said: "Oh please. The Eiffel Tower is just a lamp post with a publicist."
