That is true. I don't think this world allows for a Mr. Rogers type any longer. Someone would try to destroy him for some reason, probably attention since it seems like most everything that anyone does anymore is for attention, to get followers or likes.

Now give me a thumbs up or I will end you! (totally kidding. I really don't care. While I get a little boost in seeing that someone liked my comment, I get a much bigger boost from eating a Cadbury Egg so I guess what I'm saying is, give me a Cadbury Egg or I will end you! (still kidding, I'm too lazy to end anyone.))

Sadly, a morning program on a popular station already attacked him back in 2007.  It would probably be even worse today

Happy 97th Birthday and Easter Sunday to William Daniels!

I looked it up and it seems that there won't be another Easter Sunday falling March 31st until 2086 (and I'm not sure either Mr. Daniels nor myself will be around for it)!

He's had a spectacular body of work from having done live radio shows in the 1930's to voicing KITT as recently as 2020!

I hope he and his caregiving spouse of 72 years Bonnie Bartlett along with the rest of their loved ones are having a fun celebration today!

Dick Van Dyke Earns Historic Daytime Emmy Nomination at 98

( I think this is the right place for this story!)

Quote

Dick Van Dyke has made history with his 2024 Daytime Emmy Award nomination!

On Friday, April 19, the 98-year-old actor became the oldest person to earn a Daytime Emmy nomination with his nod for guest performer in a daytime drama series after starring as Timothy Robicheaux on Days of Our Lives.

This is sad and strange maybe...I'm glad his time on Breaking Bad reignited his career.

The first thing I ever saw him in was Homicide: Life on the Street.  Looking at IMDB it says he was only in 22 episodes near the end of the show's run. Thinking back it's always seemed like his character started on the show long before that since he played a main character's son.

Before 'Breaking Bad,' Giancarlo Esposito considered arranging his own murder for insurance money

I heard him in an interview or maybe as a podcast guest a while back, where he explained that his last name is correctly pronounced es-POS-ito.  Never heard it said that way anywhere else.  He's a great actor and fascinating person, and I don't want to dismiss someone's thoughts of possible self-harm, but part of me wonders if he's, how do you say, "messing with us"?

Paul McCartney Fan Who Said She Loved Him 60 Years Ago Identified by Family: 'Guys, That’s Mommy'

Quote

Paul McCartney’s search for a longtime fan appears to be over.

A family has come out and identified their late mother as the mysterious “Adrienne from Brooklyn” mentioned by the former Beatle, 81, in a social media post on Sunday, May 5, when McCartney jokingly asked her to come visit his new exhibition "Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm."

Within the post, McCartney showed a clip from 60 years ago of the woman saying "Paul McCartney, if you are listening, Adrienne from Brooklyn loves you with all her heart." It was recorded as The Beatles visited Brooklyn in the early 1960s.

I think this qualifies as both heartwarming and wacky.

Anthony Anderson, James Van Der Beek, Taye Diggs and more will strip in a ‘Real Full Monty’ charity special

Quote

The two-hour special is aimed at raising awareness for prostate, testicular and colorectal cancer testing and research and will air this fall on Fox.

“Don’t die of embarrassment. Get checked! That’s the message behind The Real Full Monty special,” Anderson said in a press announcement. “I am honored to lead the charge of rallying these fearless men to bare it all, in order to provoke, inspire and in this case, beg you to get screened for cancer. That’s our goal … so what are you waiting for?”

Ahem.  I will now saw something complimentary about Chet Haze AKA Ton's Hanks' son who thinks he is Jamaican sometimes.  This is a first and most likely only time I will be doing this.

Anyway, apparently Tom asked him to explain the Kendrick Lamar/Drake beef.  if you don't know... no worries his explanation is pretty good and quite funny.

Huh. I guess even Chet has his moments.

Don't feel bad, Tom. I don’t get that whole feud either.

Considering that Aretha Franklin's 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T' wasn't played during that daily ceremony until shortly after Miss Franklin's passing, one has to wonder what led Miss Swift's song being played in that venue while she's still young and healthy.

Presumably because this weekend concludes the UK leg* of her record-breaking tour (which brings a shit ton of money to every city it visits; there's a whole thing about "Swiftonomics"), in London.

*Well, until she returns to London for another five shows in August; I'm neither a fan nor a non-fan, but just reading that schedule made me want to nap.

Looks like Prince William took his kids to Taylor's concert. Maybe it was done for them?

Same.  I only know about her really because my granddaughter is a fan (and, shh,  don't tell her but she's going to a Taylor Swift concert in November) anyway love her, hate her or be indifferent no one can deny she's a ball of energy!

FWIW, I don't know if it will result in anything coming of it, but Barbara Eden recently  said  in an interview that she herself would like Miss Swift to play her own iconic character if there ever is to be a remake or movie version of her unforgettable  60's  magical sitcom- and cheerfully admitted to be a 'Swiftie'!

I've only her in Cats, which was so awful that it even managed to make Idris Elba look bad. 😂 So, I can't, in good conscience, judge anyone's acting on the basis of it.

You watched Cats!??! Are the producers paying for your therapy? (sorry, the most I've seen of Cats was the "everything wrong with..." on YT and even that was too much.

I still wonder what what kind of drugs made anyone think making that movie was a good idea, and where can I get some.

Cats is truly as horrible as its reputation. Everything about it is awful, and everyone in it is awful, even people I normally like (Judi Dench, Ian McKellan). I like, even love, Taylor Swift, but she doesn't come out unscathed; she wrote that God-awful ditty "Beautiful Ghosts", and her British accent is so cheesy it isn't even funny.

LOLOL I forced a friend to watch it with me, and we still reference the shared trauma to this day. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

OMG you are a TERRIBLE friend!!!!!! (kidding, I just couldn't resist). In dangerous situations like that it is safer to have someone with you. I watched Midsomer with my friend and we still have a two person support group to deal with the trauma.

You knew Cats the Movie would be a flop when people who loved the Broadway musical and/or actual cats steered clear of it.

I posted something mocking it back when I first saw it and some random teen theater kid who must have been on the hunt for Cats shit-talking tore into me for being a smartass about it. 🤣🤣🤣 I never could figure out if she had watched the movie or was just indignant on behalf of the original musical, but boy did she have some strong opinions and no sense of humor.

I grew up in a very small town and fell in love with musicals solely based on the ones they performed in our high school.  Cats was the first professional one that I saw, so it's a sentimental favorite of mine.  However, I couldn't understand why they were making it into a movie in the first place and when I saw the trailers?  Ugh.  I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't free and if my kid (who's a theater kid) didn't have such a quick wit and who I knew would make me laugh about it after it was over.

The costume and makeup is fabulous.

That makes the CGI nightmare fuel of the movie even worse! The movie cats were terrifying mutants. I think just a recording of a stage performance of the show would have done much better.

Speaking of, I would kill for a filmed version of Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster's Music Man. I have the music from the show and that gives me some serious warm fuzzies, but I'm a visual gal and would love to see Hugh and Sutton in those roles again.

It was filmed for PBS's Great Performances about 10 years ago.  Don't know if it's available anywhere now.

I saw this in NY.  I thought she was really wrong for the part, although she gave a good performance.  He just didn't seem into it.

As for Cats (on stage), we love it - it paid for our house 😄

Wow, really? That's disappointing. When I went to see it they were both amazing. I thought her playfulness was perfect for Marion and he seemed like he was having the time of his life, they both did, the whole cast did really. It was just great fun all around. Maybe you caught them on a bad night. :(

Yeah I've never watched it, but what I saw of it when I went into fact-finding mode after the horrors of the movie looked just fine. I think there are several ways the movie could have gone with the aesthetic and it would have been acceptable. I even think an animated Cats would have the potential to be interesting. The movie's decision to double-down on hyper realism with the "cats" was the worst direction they could have gone. That and putting CGI cat fur on Idris Elba's muscles. My crush on him has never recovered.
